  1. Hey smilin_apple,

I saw your response on the before and after thread. Honestly, I just follow the band rules except I work out more than 30 minutes a day. I work out 5-7 hours a week, which helps a lot. I keep my calories around 1500 a day and get my water in. Don't get discouraged! Are you are the right restriction level? You've still lost an incredible amount of weight and you should be proud! Let me know if you ever need to talk or if you're getting discouraged. Best of luck to you!

  2. Hello Lily,

It has been two weeks since the band and for the most part I am doing good. Today is the best I have felt! I have to remember that I have the band and that I can't just gobble down a piece of lunch meat; that was not pleasant today :(

I also have an infection in one of my incisions, so I go see my surgeon tomorrow about that. I don't want to end up with some type of staff infection, so best have it looked at. That is the only pain I have right now, is from the infected incision; hurts when I bend on that one.

But, I am doing great and looking forward to posting some progress photos in a month! I hope it shows! I'm crossing my fingers! Thanks for the message!

  3. Im doing OK. I am too busy to be worried at this time. I got my time today, I go in at 8:30AM I have to be at the hospital by 7AM. I have been doing OK with the shakes, but I am sick of them so I have been eating more (maybe stress) but I've been sticking to "good food" like egg whites and a little salad. I hope my surgeon doesn't yell at me when he sees my liver. I dont think i've eaten enough to cause a problem but I must be honest. the 2nd week was horrible for me. I miss food!

  4. I havent gone yet, theyre still reviewing my file, but i'm hoping to hear from them by the end of the week with my surgery date :D

Hi Beautiful! I haven't been on here in forever! Work is INSANE. I have been in trials every week since I returned and have a trial every week until week before Xmas - then a two week break and back in trial! I'm down 38 pounds since my surgery July 19 and people are starting to notice which makes me feel good. I just joined the gym and so am mustering my courage to not feel bad as a fluffy girl there. Self esteem issues eh? How are you? Sending hugs! Elizabeth

  6. hi gals, hoorah for inspiration. so monday is my big day. so i am starting very slow. i don't have a treadmill, but at work i have access to one. anyway my challenge for myself by thanksgiving is to walk at least 7 miles per week, i'm at about 4 miles right now. right now i am doing about 3 miles/ hour, just ;out on my hilly ass road. so i walk like 1 mile/ day,

  7. I had my pre-op Dr. appt. and labs today! My LAP-BAND?? date is Oct. 7, 2010! I cant wait! :w00t:I start my pre-op diet tomorrow! I will post my weight after those 2 weeks are complete!

  8. Girl, things are really going well. Still at 14 lbs so far, but I'm excited because I managed to maintain even after a 7-day cruise last week. The band is doing just what it's supposed to, remind me that IT IS THE BOSS and that I can't do what I use to. I'M LOVING IT.

  9. Thanks for the photo comment! I am about 5'6" (the people with me in that pic are much shorter lol) and my starting weight was 280/size 22. My doctor had told me that 170 was a good target weight but now I'm at 160-165 (depending on what I eat that week) and I still need to tighten up some fatty areas. But I am excited and ecstatic with my weight loss and sometimes cannot believe my eyes either. Good luck with your journey!!

  10. Hi Rose, Yes it has been a long time since I have been on here. Been very busy getting all my test done before the 19th of October when I got to NC to see my kids. All test are done but the last one was suppose to be today and I got sick and could not get it done. Waiting for a call from the doctor to see if I can get it done before the 19th which is only one week away. It really sucks I got so sick with this cold but was afraid if they put me a sleep I would not wake up. They were going down my throat and doing the other end. If that test was done and everything was ok, I would have had a date in December. Now, I am frustated but I am still dieting to make the doctor happy and lost over 10lbs which the first ten pounds is easy to loose because I have been there before.......LOL Have a good day and thank you for thinking of me. Now I am going to look at your post just to see how you are doing. Our friend Bklynike is doing great. I love to read about her progress also.

  11. hi folks, I had my surgery Sep 24 in Sarnia. it went very well and I was home 6 hours after it started. First week went very well. Second week I ran into some muscles spasms in the left neck and shoulder that kept increasing in pain but I think that is pretty much done now.

I have followed the diet provided to me post op and I am happy to report no major hunger. I have to laugh at myself at how much I am enjoying Garden Cocktail vegie juice, jello, and cream soups right now. I think it is the flavors I am savouring. My home is tidier than normal because I keep getting up to walk around because of gas issues the first 2 weeks. All in all it is a win-win situtation.

  12. How are you doing Marw? Things have been very well with me. I am trying to workout as much as possible and eat most of the right foods. I really have good restriction since my last fill a week ago. I have another appointment at the end of the month. I really don't know if I should get another fill right now. My doctor is very aggressive with giving his patients fills. I really do appreciate his attitude to giving his patients fills. Thanks again for checking up on me. How is your weight lost going. I am really losing more inches than anything at this point. Again thanks for checking in.

  13. So far so good, I hit my 2 month mark this week. How are you?

  14. im doing great, had my band done on the 27th of august and weigh in at 345. at my dr. appt last week i weigh in at 317. had my 1st fill... loving my band

  15. I got on the scale today...I don't like what I see, LOL. Didn't gain but didn't lose either. I know it'll take time before the weight starts to shed but I'm doing everything I'm supposed to. Maybe I'm still swollen? I hope so...let's see what the scale says on Thursday, one week post-op.

  16. Reginap,

Thanks for stopping by my page. I want to make sure I address all of your questions and concerns. First of all, congrats on getting your new band. Your band is something you have to learn what works and don’t work for you. Every single person is totally different. We all have the same tool inside our bodies, but it works a little different for each person. From my experiences, your first couple of fills really doesn’t give you as much restriction as you really are hoping for. I have had three fills and this one gives me a lot more restriction than I have ever had before. I can really tell if I don’t take my time to chew my foods really well things appear to get hung up a lot more. That’s not a really pleasant feeling which causes a lot of pressure in my band area. page1

  17. Howdy Lyla, how's it going? I was thinking about some easier way for us to communicate and encourage about our work out goals etc. One Idea I had was to just start a thread called september bandster work out encouragement- I don't have any other ideas but am open. My complaint with the pm's is that it is a pain to talk to you and missjoany at the same time and it's sort of clunky- of course the site is clunky - anyway open for ideas

also how are you doing, have you decided on your walk? tell me the website. I am starting slower then I was 2 weeks ago.

    Lisa

  18. Hey Guys,

I'm down 2 more pounds. It has really gotten slow. I thought I had a doctor. appointment on Oct. 2, 2010, but somehow I got mixed up. I think the 2nd was actually on a Saturday.... I don't know how I did that! Anyway, I called today and was told that my appointment is actually on the 11th of Oct. I'm trying to decide on a gym today. Hopefully by the end of today, I will have my mind made up. Yesterday was my first time eating out since I had the surgery. My daughter has a German exchange student staying with us for 3 weeks and we took her out to Apple Bees lastnight. I didn't eat hardly anything because I had half bottle of a protein drink 2 hours prior to going so I really wasn't hungry. I am feeling that I may need a fill.

  19. Hey Danielle!! My bmi was 37 as well, so right off the bat I had to have 6 months of observation. I had/have co-morbidities, which was the reason Health plus approved my surgery (Hip Arthritis and Sleep Apnea) I used (follow up with) Dr. Piotr Gorecki at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, and I absolutely LOVE him. the downside is that with Health-plus he can only be seen in the clinic on Wed & fri.

It took them about 2 weeks to approve the surgery, it had to be rescheduled because of a drs note that needed to be submitted, but it was only a 2 week difference (orig. may 7th, resched/ actual surgery may 21) If you want more info on him, Let me know :)

  20. Hi! :) My name is Gabbi, I was banded on the 13th of September. I have lost a total of 30 lbs (last weigh in was last week)...i am doing ok i guess... i still have port pain and it still looks a bit swollen. umm, i am having a hard time following my dietary plan that was given to me, either im scared to eat too much or i get bored so i end up eating very little. Here is my blog:

    glamorousbandster.wordpress.com

check it out...lets keep in touch :) how are you doing?

  21. Thank you Cindy....Band slipped and apparently I had alot of scar tissue, so my Doc said to stay on liquids for 6 weeks. Next week I at least get do introduce pureed food, this week is all protein drinks. Toughest thing I've ever done in my life. I am married and my daughter who is 21 just moved back home...but they are both very supportive. I couldn't do this without them. Thank you for the prayers. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. ~Christy

  22. Kathy, I'm so glad you are so busy because life is so good - how great is that? I am doing well. Had first fill on Friday (2cc) and looking forward to a new jump start on my weight loss .. . I never got off plan or anything, just got stalled on the weight loss. I am loving this tool - IT WORKS! Rose

  23. Hi there. thanks for the compliment! I've lost 123 pounds and was banded a litte over 16 months ago. In the beginning I was exercising about 5-6 times per week, it slowed down to about 3-4 time but now I'm picking it back up again trying to drop these last 17 pounds to my goal.

  24. Hey, WOW thanks for checking in...I'm good - Surgery went great, I've had one fill w/ 1cc so I have next to no restriction. But not gaining back too much. I go every 2 weeks for 1cc at a time. Frusterating but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. How long did it take till you saw major loss???

  25. Thanks! Got through week one liquids -- hoping to make it through week 2 -- I am hungry tho -- keep up the healing and we'll get to the workouts in a few weeks.
