Congrats on your NSVS! Those feel just as good as seeing the scale move down. So happy for you! -
Am I losing enough weight post-op?
JosieJ replied to JustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost 17 pounds in 12 weeks (also following my plan perfectly) I'm now sitting 12 pounds below goal and have been for over 1 1/2 years. The rate that you lose has absolutely nothing to do with your ultimate success. Just stick on plan, sit back and enjoy the NSVs. And stay off the scale if it upsets you so much. Thank you for this, it's encouraging... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Phowell, I am with you on the clothes shopping! I have NO IDEA what I am doing anymore. I didn't even know JR sizes went to 17. I have settled on a 16. The 18's are too big and the 16 is a little snug at the waist but doable. The 18's fall off. Literally. My NSV's lately. 1. My pants are falling off. 2. I started running and no one is even chasing me. I could not have done that 32lbs ago. 3. My husband, who always told me I was hot still thinks so. The funny thing is I am starting to believe it. 4.I am sensing the fact that I am no longer anonymous to men outside of my husband even when the kids are with me. Scary. :-)

Keep it going guys! WTG! Well this one is really a scale victory but an nsv for me. I am no longer obese anymore!!! I am only overweight! Less than 8 months ago I was morbidly obese! I have been morbidly obese since I was 13 and obese since I was at least 9. And here I am today with a BMI of 29.9! It's hard to imagine. And the last time I weighed 191lbs was when I was 11 years old.....and 5 inches shorter. To add to all that, I can now shop in the misses department as everything is too big in the woman's department. I don't think I have ever done that. I can fit into a 16 skirt (and I even fit into a 14 once!) and I'm wearing an XL/L shirt depending on the store. I bought myself some shirts on sale in a Medium (GASP) for the fall. The thought of even purchasing a medium is baffling...me? possibly wear a medium? Thanks guys for letting me share these exciting occasions with you!

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while and thought it was about time to post. I was banded four weeks ago today and had a major NSV this weekend. I wore one of my favorite shirts for the first time in about six months--last time I tried it on I couldn't even button it and on Saturday it fit perfectly. That same day my boyfriend commented that my jeans were getting saggy in the rear, which is nice enough, but the jeans I was wearing are already a size down from what I started with a month ago. Yay for the band! Jenny

Hello Everyone; I love this thread!!! I've just been reading as of late, but finally had an NSV, (at least that I've really noticed)!!! I haven't really been able to change sizes yet and that may be because all of my clothes were too tight, but are fitting better. Needed a dress for a formal affair taking place soon and decided to shop in the closet. I was able to wear a dress that I wore three years ago when I'd lost nearly 60 pounds!!!! The funny thing is that I was 30 pounds lighter than I am now and the dress still fits. So yes, I have lost more inches with the band!!! I do love my band!!!

What are NSVs? I'm having my surgery next week and I'm studying all that people are writing in here and wonder what that stands for?

No one has posted in this thread for a few days, so I thought I'd bring it back. My NSVs of late: I have collarbones! I have just one pair of pants that fits me now (which kind of sucks, too, but I'm claiming it as a victory)! The bf has commented several times on my, uh, increased flexibility. Best of all, my blood pressure, which was at 139/90 in February, this morning was at 120/76! Woohoo! What NSVs have you guys had lately?

So much to be thankful for ... my biggest scale victory was getting below 200 (yeah me!) But my biggest NSV was going to Kings Dominion and fitting in EVERY SINGLE RIDE with my daughter! I had a teary moment as I walked up to the old rickety wooden coaster she loves so much ... that was apparently built for people who weigh 102lbs or less ... and I realized I was going to FIT IN THE SEAT!! This is freakin' awesome!!

Another NSV - this week is getting CRAZY! I saw my 4 year crush yesterday - and his mouth DROPPED, he could not keep his hands off my side/waist, hugging me, ect - it was so so so cute. Kept saying how good I looked, how healthy I looked. Granted he would flirt with me at any weight but I had not seen him in 45 lbs! ahahahahah That was my dream come true! 1 crush down 1 more to go! hahahah

Way to go everyone on your NSVs! I just came back from a vacation and I had so many. To start, I was comfortable (as much as one could be) in the airplane seat. I had room to spare in the seat, the seat belt fit without a question, the tray table was no where near my stomach and I could actually cross my legs while sitting too! I got so many complements from people who I haven't seen in a year and a half and 115lbs ago! I went hiking with my friends and I had the most energy out of all of them. Everyone used to have to wait for me to catch my breath going up the hill, but this time it was me who was waiting for my friends to catch their breaths! I did so much walking on my trip and I wouldn't have been willing to do all that walking when I weighed a lot more.

My NSV this week is crazy. I posted a pic in the beginning, of me in a Mets jersey and you can see how tight it was. Well yesterday, went to Opening Day, no photo though, and was able to have a turtleneck sweater on underneath and still button the jersey up and move around in it. Not to mention, not being wedged in the seat this season either.

Yeh, that is a man thing, my husband walked by me at the desk yesterday and started shaking his head. I said "What" his response,: "your face is thinner and you makeup looks good." Well same makeup, no change there so I must look thinner in the face at least. Still waiting for my size 18 to start to fall off so I can buy 14's or 16's. ONE day at a time. So glad to hear all of you sharing your WLS/ NSV, it shows solidarity and the best support we can give each other. Off to plant trees in back yard, have a great day! Local Tree frog

I had surgery on monday, and I had no big hopes for this week. I even let my beard grow. To my surprise, when I just shaved, is that my doublechin is gone. It is only my jaw there, and no pouch hanging under. How cool is that? The scales are showing almost the same (-2), but the difference in the mirror. When I look closely, the may be cheekbones there as well. A great NSV for me..

Those are wonderful NSVs! Did you feel like you were trespassing when you went into the regular sizes?
-
Yay fantastic NSV's everyone. Ninja - I had to giggle at the "You look more compact, somehow" comment - that is such a man thing to say ... compact. Very awesome and very funny!

Oh my goodness, that's the BEST NSV! You rock!

Wow. It is even more satisfying when the NSV comes from someone else! -
I am loving your NSV... great feeling ain't it??!! Keep your 'chin' up ... lol =]

I am going to consider this a NSV. I think I am actually on a regular schedule for my period! It has been probably 15 years since I have been any sort of regular. Going on three months now, and on schedule. Don't know why I am so excited lol I guess the whole waiting game of having it every few months before is gone.

Fantastic NSV and on being a newly wed. Keep working that sleeve girl, you are doing great.

Okay, I don't know if this is good or bad!!!! During spin class today, in full workout mode, focused on pedal stroke and cadence while standing on the bike, I realized the back of my stretchy pants had dropped below my butt!!!!!! OMG!!!!! I grabbed them and yanked then while trying to spin..... I thought it was a bit breezy in there! :-) Luckily, I was in the back row. But, several folks had left and entered through the door directly behind me!!! The lady next to me, Barbara, saw my horrified look as I struggled to pull my pants up and said: "you're looking great!" and gave me a big smile!!! If I wasn't so happy my butt shrunk so much I would be embarrased to return to class!!! LOL

Well, since a lot of us are struggling with not having hit the "sweet spot" and having people harrass us about how much weight we have or haven't lost, I thought I'd switch the subject just a tad to "NSVs" or "Non-scale victories." I've been on the Weight Watchers boards for a couple of years now (with no success until post-band) and this is something they talk about a lot. Because often there are positive changes even when the scale does not move. So what are some of your NSVs? Mine are: My clothes fit better. I have much more energy. I'm exercising more. Climbing stairs isn't quite as hard as it was before. My outlook is more positive because I know this will work for me. Nancy
