    Being THAT guy!!

Go ahead, that guy! You are doing great! congrats, and this is also, a great NSV!!!
  2. I was sleeved 6/7/13. I will be starting my 3rd month 8/7. Right before my surgery I was in a 20w pant and weighed 205. I'm short and pear shaped. Today I went and tried on pants and I got into a 16 misses and I now weigh 171. WoooHooo!!!!!! :0)
  3. I am around 9-10 weeks out and can eat around 60% of my old capacity. I can eat 12-16 ounces of food with Normal size bites and chewing. I can chug liquids without even thinking about it. I feel like my surgery was a failure. My doctor said "just cause you CAN eat 16 ounces doesn't mean you should" well, no kidding but why did I go through all of this just for a slight reduction! I know surgery is a tool but there's no honeymoon period here! I watch everything I eat to keep at 1200 calories and it's a concerted effort. I do the elliptical for 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Results are so slow and I have been stalled for 4 or 5 weeks straight now. I am having NSVs but still can't help to feel depressed. My doc basically said that he doesn't want to over- restrict so I woud struggle to eat but I feel I have no boundaries, other than my own self imposed restrictions. I don't want to go through it again so I guess I just have to take the desire to loose and work hard...
  4. I did and all my nsv and doctor appts are documented...it is nice to see the progress

    Two weeks from surgery

NSV = Non-scale Victory: When your body changes, even though your weight stays the same. Your clothing fits looser, you've lost inches, you sleep better, get off of any meds you required before you started the process. Sugery lasts only about 45 minutes, feeling almost normal starts to happen around day 3 or 4. Bloating and your incisions are healed around week 3. Day 1 will be the worst, be prepared by having one point of contact for people who want to check on you. You won't feel much like talking or being bothered by anybody or anything, so be prepared before you go for your procedure. Good luck!

    Two weeks from surgery

I have been reading many posts, what are NSV's? Also can anyone tellme how long their surgery was for the lapband and hernia repair?

    Two weeks from surgery

HI Melinda. Thank you for sharing your blog. I can relate to your worries and hesitations. But just know, that in the end, it will be a decision you will be proud of. Different things motivate us as individuals to strive for and achieve success. I see you have a little one...so when you are able to do things you couldn't before it'll propel you to lose more. And when he grows up seeing mommy as the perfect role model when it comes to health and nutrition, you will be convinced you did yourself and him proud. Don't stress too much, don't put obstacles up that don't necessarily need to be there. Take one day at a time, rejoice in the NSVs and give yourself permission to be happy and feel what success is all about. Good luck on the surgery, here's to a speedy recovery
  8. Hello! I'm 2 months 3 weeks out and this week I started to have some pain in my left side. I started to wear work pants yesterday (yes! a NSV for me ) but I feel that my left side is kinda tight and it hurts like a cramp. It's not super painful, but I notice I slow down when I'm walking and it's mostly disconfort. It doesn't hurt at all if I'm sitting or laying down, is only when I'm walking. I wonder if my port is "moving" or something. I want to know if this is kind of normal. I have a fill next week and I'll mention this to the doctor.

    Your favorite nsv's?

Great topic! Some of my favorite NSV's are: I can cross my legs; I can shop for clothes in regular size departments/stores; I don't have to use the handicapped stall in public restrooms; there's plenty of room in airplane and theater seats now; I can sit on the floor and get up again without needing a crane to lift me; I wore a bathing suit in public while on vacation; I bought my first short skirt in 30 years and even wear it in public; people I tell about my weight loss say, "I never would have guessed you were ever that big."

    Your favorite nsv's?

The *Wrapping a regular size towel around me* < this is soo true for me!!! I hate that only Beach towels wrap comfortably around me!! Lol (but not really funny). Thanks for that one! I can't wait to have that NSV and more!!
  11. So, I started working at a new location about a month and a half ago and have not lost a single pound while working here. I've kicked up my workouts like crazy! This week all of my coworkers are commenting on how "skinny" I'm getting. Just when I was getting discouraged, I'm realizing it's all paying off!

    Your favorite nsv's?

Fitting into an airplane seat and being able to bring the tray down all they way. Fitting into Broadway theater seats (oh boy are they narrow!) Getting onto a massage table and not having my arms hang over the sides because I'm so fat that I don't fit. Not scaring the bejeezus out of someone if I try to sit next to them on the bus or on the train. Not being stared at. Not looking horrific in a bathing suit. And most important NSV of all is that I am now eligible for the knee replacement surgery that will hopefully get me mobile and out of pain. Hooray! All these things noted above are a million times better than any fleeting feeling of pleasure from overeating. The food is still just as good (if not better) though it means eating alot less of it. I am so grateful to the lapband and my determination in helping me to change my life.

    Your favorite nsv's?

Just posted on another thread about being depressed and then I found this! Every reply made me cry. This is what I should be focusing on not my yucky food. I want all these NSV's and more. Especially want to be more active.

    NSV =)

I am 23 and have always had to shop at Lane Bryant, Torrid...only plus size stores. For years I have been going to Forever 21 just to buy jewelry..well because thats all that fit me (sometimes not even that!) Today I walked in there looked at their pants and said "no way am I fitting in that" I asked "do you guys have plus size?" the lady said "no". I said forget it, and went to try them on..they FIT!!! yay! They are pleathur (fake leather) so they are close fitting, also I never want to show my arms but thanks to Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred (2 weeks so far) my once loose arm skin is tightening and I thought to myself, my arms look pretty good so I bought the tank too =) I almost cried at the cashier, happy tears because I feel like a normal young woman for once in my life!!!
  16. It will get better, but congrats on the NSV of downsized clothes!
  17. Well, this is embarrassing to admit, but for the past 2 years I've had to sit down to pee. At some point my gut and the fat pooch above my junk got too big and it was a real hassle (and messy) to use the urinals. So it was just easier and cleaner to sit on the toilet. So it was a happy surprise when I realized yesterday that I could use the urinals again. My job requires a dress shirt. I hated having to drop trou, tuck my shirt tale back in, and fight with my belt every time I went to the bathroom. Now I can go back to hosing down the back of the urinal and destroying the cigarette butts at the bottom. :-P P.S. They must think guys are pretty dumb around here. I saw a sign above the urinal that read, "Please don't eat the big white mint!"

    A Good week

You are doing great! New belt is a great NSV, too!
  19. Hi, i am 4 weeks postop (20 lbs minus) and had my first victory yesterday. I went to the same zumba class that I used to attend before. Yesterday, to my surprise I was able to touch the floor repeatedly during the dancing exercise!!! Before the LB my hand stopped at knee level and I was just imitating what the others were doing. It is unbelievable, I have never thought that I could ever do this...

    Running NSV!

8 weeks ago I was 1 month post op and decided to start the C25K program to help boost the weight loss efforts. I started out running at 30 second intervals and felt like I was going to D.I.E and could barely breathe... I almost quit. But I didn't...and I am so glad. Today I packed my kids in the buggy and ran 2 miles without stopping...30 full minutes. I didn't run fast, but I RAN. I've signed up for 2 5k runs in September/October and now I KNOW I can make that 3.1 miles. I love my lapband!

    First post-op bike ride

Awesome job! Being outside and doing something you enjoy is a NSV so add that to your list also.

    Feeling Great

you look great! I went a little crazy and bough a bikini, a monokini, and a full swimsuit this year. I always wear my bikini with a swimsuit cover because of my pouchy, stretch marked, scarred stomach but I feel great and look great too! Great NSV!!!!
  23. PittGuy

    Run kristy run..

Congrats on the mile. This is one of my NSV goals!
