Hello meganliz0824! Another November 19 club member! Are you doing a pre-op diet too? Any headaches or moodiness if so? I so wish I could take Advil. My legs and feet are sure feeling the walk we did. I have a large dog and he walked with me (and my hubby). I am taking a warm bath to ease my aches. Dog and hubby both sound asleep in the living room, and both snoring. Hahaha! -
I'm on day 10 of my all liquid pre op 1000 calories and I'm so exhausted at the end of the day after school I almost can't drive home...anything I can do? We only have two days left!!

Started Pre Op Diet Today Yuck!!!
AlleyKat replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started pre-op today too and it's hard! I shouldn't have had a pig fest yesterday becauxse I think it's making today that much harder! I don't like the shakes but I can handle them. It's the Protein bars I'm having trouble with. I had a chocolate peanut one this morning and I threw it out. Gross! 10 days to go! -
I'm 19 and my surgery will most likely be in October. My moms is next week and she's super supportive of me as well as my friends and the rest if my family, but no one else really understands! I'm frustrated I'm not losing weight before the surgery because I have to lose 5-10%. I could use some friends going through this too!

I'm about 10 days post op..
Sammiwill77 replied to AC3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also 10 days out and i get "hungry" every night around dinner. I've cheated a couple times and ate some French fries and mash potatoes. I've also over ate with my soup and Protein shakes and ended up feeling stuffed. I don't regret the surgery but I'm afraid I'm going to fail and lack any self control. I keep thinking once I go back to work and have more of a routine things will be better but right now I am feeling like food still controls my life. Anyone else struggling? Fuleman, You sound like a total sweetheart. Yes, I've done some crazy things to get food as well, sounds very familiar to me. I will be getting banded, to scared not to, to scared to! I'll let you know how I get on, 10 days to go..... TERRIFIED! Jx

Chest Discomfort
VegasMommaof1 replied to alex77709's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was 8/23 and the chest/lung pain hurt more then surgery! My dr gave me this breathing device that he told me to breathe into 10-15 times every hour. It says "airlife" on it...you breathe in and you must hold the the little blue ball between the indicators your entire breath. He said the gas will make you hurt but breathing exercises makes it feel better. Mine lasted about 3 days. Hope you feel better. -
I was sleeved Nov 12th LY, its been 8 months...wow. started at 265 and am at 186+/-...so I am around an 80 lb loss. 10 lbs a month I guess its ok. I was very stuck around that 205 mark/ time myself. I think what helped is I started more intense exercise. Like running the stairs instad of just a walk. Only once a wk though-I am not a religous exerciser at all. I walk daily but nothing big. Water is a big deal I found when I drink my water I do a lot better. Tracking helps-go back and track food and cals daily for a week, then go over your diet with the nutritionist-pay for an extra visit if needed. I would keep on the shake thing but try it every other day-liquid one day, food the next, not 3 days in a row. I am no angel and I feel that sometimes I should have lost more (so far) than I have, but I am happy with the loss and am trying not to be too hard on myself because think about how far you have come. You will drop again. Be patient and if you push your body too hard I don't think it responds to that either. We are all going to experience some stalling. Look at how far you have come. This might sound weird, but put on a great outfit you couldn't dare wear before and hold your head high. Take a selfie in the outfit, like instead of being down on it, relish what you have now. It's awesome you have had great loss in 5 months. Awesome. You will lose more, keep going.

OMG!!! I feel....
vegasgirl44 replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl, except for the allergy part, I hear ya! I'm not really in any pain except for the occasional shoulder and incision pain and lump at the incision, but I just feel out of it. I keep forgetting I had major surgery and then I'll go all out one day, and the next day I will pay for it. I know how you feel about the run over my a truck thing. Just all over. I was at Michael's tonight after spending the whole weekend at home, and I felt like I was 80! Walking, talking, and bending like I was already on the downhill of life. It's so discouraging. So I'm glad I found this post. It gives me hope that you guys have felt so much better after some time. The next time I see my surgeon it will be 10-1, so maybe by then I'll be feeling better and ready for a fill. -
I am new here. I was banded 1 week ago on 7-18-07 and have had severe left shoulder pain ever since. I will wake up and there is no pain and 2 hours later it starts and by 3-4pm I'm at a 8-9 out of 10 on a pain scale. All I can do is drink this Lortab and it doesn't really help the pain. No one ever mentioned this to me as a possible side effect. What is causing this? Also I've had esophageal pain and had an upper GI test yesterday. The X-ray MD said it appears that the band is too high and that there is NO pouch. She did not say if it was on my esophagous or not. My surgeon's office has not called me with the results yet and I have called and left messages. I'm so frustrated. Any advice?:help: Thanks, rxangel

I have not gotten my surgery yet (9/7) so I don't know how much I can add to this but... are you exercising? That will really help a lot (even with out the band)- even just a few trips up and down the stairs, jog in place for 10 minutes, lift a chair up and down several times, do leg lifts or squats while on the phone- point is just add some extra activity here and there. and if you ARE exercising- maybe check out some fitness websites to get some tips to boost yourself again. Sometimes (so I was told), if you do the same routines- your body levels out and its not challenged anymore and hits a plato (sp?) so change up your routine a little or add weight training to your routine- I hear that helps... (like many fat people who have been there done that a thousand times- I could be a personal trainer and nutrionist if I was just able to maintain myself  and keep it off ). As far as snacks- I think thats going to be my tough spot too! are you eating Snacks because you are hungry or you are just bored and want to munch? if you are hungry- add more protien to your diet. but if its just to munch.. you need to find things that are low calorie or at least very low fat. some ideas maybe- low fat frozen yogart (turkey hill has awesome flavors just make sure you check the fat percent cause some are still pretty high but most are very very low and some are zero), fat free pretzels (or will those get stuck?), fat free string cheese, frozen grapes, italian ice (at least you have to work to eat it so it takes longer to eat), fat-free pudding packs, fat free yogart, as previously mentioned 100 calorie pack things (but I cant just have one lol), sugar free lollipops, baby carrots (even if you add fat free dressing), apples slices (they now sell pre-packed snack packs of apples and carrots). Hope some of those are helpful!

They are right...just watch what you eat, do it slow and just not all the time. Once you are banded, also remember not to drink while eating. Yes there may be times you need something but usually not. When I go out to eat, I ask for a coffee cup of water or a kid’s cup. This will stop them from asking “are you sure I can’t get you something to drink” or just in case I need a sip I have it there. Set a date or time during the month when you reward yourself. I eat whatever I want. I just watch how much, how often and always, always eat it slowly. I too eat bread, tortillas, rice etc.. If you want those chips, have them but take out a handful from the basket for yourself and that's your portion. I do this w/French fries. 10 is my limit and I either toss the rest or give them to the kids. But I’m not beating myself up for having “bad food”, I given myself permission, dealt w/the portion size and enjoyed. There will always be that head game out there that we need to deal with and the more we deal with it the easier it will be to move on and we win the game of life…Our new life! It's a life change as you know and we all work on it ONE DAY AT A TIME. Good luck on your journey.

Flabby Arms - What Do You Do At Gym To Get Them To Go Down?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Jlo77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is unfortunate but number one, it is mostly genetics as to how your results will turn out. Second would be how much weight you need to lose and third will be the workout factor. Last but not least patience and time will help a lot too, as I've been noticing my batwings on my arms are slowly disappearing! I have really good skin and thankfully my arms came out pretty good. I am not a strength trainer at all. The only form of workout I do on my arms are with my elliptical, a little bit of Pilates type body resistance movements and using a 10 Lb Kettlebell. Yet my arms came out really nice. -
I'm 4 weeks out and I've been in the same shape as you since my 2nd week. I did indeed speak to my doctor who told me exactly what everyone else has said...This is the worst part! I will be getting my first fill on 10/25...I'm praying that it works for the HUNGER!!! Everyone I've talked to says it will be much better after the fill. I've been doing better for the past few days because I've increased the amount of protein I've been consuming. Wishing you much better days ahead.

London Sleevers - Could Use A Little Help
BizTraveller posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I will be spending the next week in London at the Holiday Inn Mayfair. I am 10 weeks post-op so I can eat almost anything, but I have managed to become a bit lactose intolerant so I have had to give up on most Protein shakes and rely upon real food. (Protein shakes were difficult to travel with anyway). I could use some tips on local sources of Protein that I can pick up while I am in town. Are there any brands of Jerky, greek yogurt, or other foods I should look for? I am also interested in restaurants and such as sushi bars, tapas, and such where I can get some good protein without too much fuss. Finally I would appreciate ny tips you might have about eating local fare (pubs, curries, etc). Thanks in advance.... -
I didn't have any changes that I've noticed. I can still tolerate my shakes, etc. I did find that beef broth was far more flavorful and satisfying than chicken broth. I've read that you can experiment with temperatures and that your sleeve may enjoy warm beverages, like decaf tea and broth, over cold ones, or room temperature. I have found that a decaf warm chai with almond milk goes down so smoothly that I can get in a whole 10-12 oz. I'm 11 days out. Wishing you WELL, and hoping you find what works for you!

I have a Realize Band. It holds 10 cc, I am at 9.5. It has been 16 months. I only notice the port when I am laying flat on my back because there is a slight bump. Otherwise, not noticeable. I chose the Realize band for the web-site and when I held both bands, the Realize band seemed like it would be a smaller thing to have inside me forever. So far I am down 105 pounds, so it's doing it's job!

Eating too much post op???!
imhoffivannia replied to ashleyrenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Ash!!! congrats on your band!! yayyyy! but listen!!! do not over do it. Do eat more than your 4-6 oz please. I was banded in 2009. from 215 came down to 168 in about 10 months. It was great.... but holidays came around and i stopped meassuring. Now i'm back on Protein shakes and soft foods. (yogurts, sweet baby food, etc.) because i gained some weight back and started to have really bad heart burn, nassua and stated to want to throw up! But most of all i couldn't swallow anything!! it felt like a had rocks in my thourht or asophagus!!! i started to research here on the site and found out by pouch has probably sretched and in danger of slippage. So on Monday i started with my Protein Shakes, and all of that kind of stuff. it was soooooooo darn scary to even think of having my (baby) band removed or having any kind of issues like slippage or erosion!! so please, please, please. do not over eat or over drink. Don't get comfortable with your weight once you start to hit or get closer to your ideal weight!!!! i thought i was in really deep s****! but thankfully i'm smart enough to had noticed that something wasn't right. and i made the changes i should have NEVER gotten away from. remember, this is a tool. I would even eat a drunkstick from Popeyes here and there..... not good at all and very stupid of me!!! just please be careful. we invest a lot!!!!! puting our bodies, bank accounts, etc through this to have it taken away. love always, iva -
Eating too much post op???!
kossde replied to ashleyrenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a reason why doctors tell you to give it two weeks. Your stomach is healing, you aren't 'familiar' yet with your band which may lead to PBing, and there might be a slip. That said, as far as eating too much goes- after my surgery, I gained approximately 10 lbs before my first fill. I've lost 50 lbs since my first fill so don't stress it right now, just try to get used to new eating habbits - get enough protein, eat protein, veggies, and starches in that order, take small bites, chew thoroughly, and eat slowly. Also- since this one is a hard change to make, you definitely want to stop drinking liquids while you eat immediately - even if you don't feel the need to - because this is one of the hardest adjustments to make so you might as well make it as soon as possible Good luck with your lapband!! -

newlife27 replied to Vinsanity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
