The things you will buy because they are on clearance...

The real NSV for me is this as I was trying on clothes and asking my wife's opinion, a couple of times she asked me if I was sucking my gut in, and I kept saying no. I finally had to suck it in to show her, and her eyes got really wide

    Stubborn, stubborn brain!!!

Why, oh why - please tell me...Why am I in the most danger when I've had a victory??? So we all know that exercise is the bane of my existence. But I've managed to work out at least 3 days a week for a month now. So this week, I'm bumping it up to 5 days a week. Grrrr. So I haul it out of bed this morning with the intention of doing something different at the gym. Everyone says you shouldn't get stuck doing one exercise routine - you should mix it up. I was therefore going to do a bike instead of the elliptical and weights. Started out fine - but the seat KILLED my butt (and not in the good 'oh I'm feeling the burn' way - more like the 'OMG I'm being sawed in half' way) !!! So I switched to one of the bikes where you are more seated with your legs horizontal instead of vertical. Didn't like that either because everytime I pedaled, I smooshed my stomach (which is still considerable) into my boobs, which are even more considerable. All of this and I only burned half the calories I burn on the elliptical. Had to leave the gym earlier than usual because I had an early morning at work. Managed to actually eat a good, protein breakfast and get to the stupid meeting on time (HUGE for me). Only to find out the meeting was canceled!!! However, we were having a drug rep coming later - with breakfast! So now - I've already eaten and they bring in tons of food (breakfast pastries, naturally) to leave in the break room, 3 steps from my office. Before vacation, about a month ago, I bought a new linen outfit. Fit perfectly. I haven't gotten around to wearing it until today because it's linen and requires ironing - which I only do about once a year. So I put it on - pants are too big!! :-) YAY me! I've mentioned that I was getting pissy because the scale wasn't moving, which usually triggers a binge for me. So I'm not allowed to get on the scale until the end of the month. The idea is to get used to doing the healthy thing because it's healthy, rather than being motivated by a number on the scale. So having a NSV like my brand new outfit being too big already is big for me! SO - someone please tell me WHY I'm seriously in danger of having a really, really bad - out of control eating - kind of a day! Why must everything trigger a binge for me??? If doing the right thing and not having a payoff makes me want to eat - why does doing the right thing and having a payoff make me want to eat?!?! Getting up for an extra workout - victory Healthy, protein breakfast - victory On time for early meeting - victory New clothes too big - victory I just have that unbelievable urge to eat everything I can find. I am my own worst enemy! Ready to turn around, go home, and climb in bed to hide until it's over!!! Shelly

    My 1St Nsv!

I work at a semiconductor plant in a cleanroom. We have to wear these white jumpsuits and hoods to keep particles (i.e. dust) down. I've worn a size 3X jumpsuit for 10 or 11 years. But yesterday I tried on a 2X and IT FIT!!! I asked my friend if it looked too tight and she said it looked almost too big! I'm so excited.... It makes all this hard work seem like there was nothing to it and I can keep going and fit into even smaller jumpsuits.

    Oh my! Embarrasing!

Lol that's priceless. Kinda an odd NSV!! I know you were embarrassed but it's so much better then ripping the ass out of your pants. I've done that. Ugh!!
  6. I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing THIS NSV! Last weekend, I met up with some friends...as we were ushered towards a booth, I panicked a bit. I fit, but just barely. Luckily, I was with a very close and wonderful friend who "measured" her side of the table with her menu, and as it turned out to be a few inches larger, we switched. It could have been worse, but my friend was so great about it...very matter of fact. Later on, I told her about my plan to get the sleeve. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

150lbs lost and a NSV too

I LOVE NSV! Congratulations on your 150 lbs loss!
  14. Mine isn't so much achey as they are sensitive to the touch. I can't sleep on my sides now because my knees poke together and my collar bones are so sore if I push on them. Puts a slight damper on the "ride a roller coaster" nsv. I've been sick the last few days and everything was achey. Way more than it's ever been in my entire life. I would rather of had surgery again than go through what I went through Wednesday night. My entire body hurt from my head to my knees. I thought I had the flu for sure, but it's just a sinus infection. I broke out in a rash after I started antibiotics and my heart has been doing weird things. I get sinus infections 3-4 times a year and usually get through it without a doctors visit. At the least I'll get a few days into it before I go, but I had to go immediately this time. I don't know if my immune system is still compromised or what but it's been a rough few days. My heart was fine btw and they have no idea what the rash is from.

    Best One-Year Anniversary NSV

lessnless....that's a GREAT NSV. Thanks for sharing. I'm O+ and have NEVER 'yet' been able to donate blood!! Seems like every time I try to I'm either post-op (or back in the day was breastfeeding!) or on meds that prevented it. The one time I DID get close enough to even get pricked my blood FLOATED and they turned me away. (They did give me a tee-shirt anyhow because I was crying I wanted to donate so bad!) I'm thinking about trying again... ...before I get too thin.

Are my goals out of whack?

After reading so many comments about people being near their goal weight, I have to question my own goal weight. The Dr asked me what I thought my goal weight should be based on what I believe my bone size (I said medium). So anyway I currently weigh 265 ish and I am 5'8" ish. I told the Dr that my goal was 160-170 and he smiled. He did not disagree. I wouldn't mind getting back to 145-150 lbs but wonder if that is "too thin". I would rather be 170 and very fit. Since I recently had spinal cord surgery, exercise will not be as intense as it is for other Sleevers. I included that knowledge when factoring my goal weight. The thing is, I wasn't planning on worrying about my weight, but instead to use NSV's as a tracking mechanism. I planned to weigh in maybe once every two weeks.... but I constantly read people weighing in daily (?), or every couple days. Maybe I am looking at this wrong?!?! Lastly, I focused more on other types of goals instead of my weight, such as: - being able to exercise for a full hour per day - I want to do one charity race per year (Avon, Walk for a Cure etc) - walking up the stairs without being out of breath - Walk up multiple stairs LOL - getting into a size 12, 10 or 8 - being able to play with my kids (not be winded or tired) - maybe I will never run again, but chase my kids, or even a light jog daily.. that would be nice - able to have amazing stamina in the bedroom (bow chicka wow wow) LOL - I desire steamy romance, but being big makes it kind of uncomfortable and limits my stamina - and maybe getting a few looks here and there... - this is a selfish NSV, I know. But I am 30y/o and there is still a need to feel sexy. Honestly, I wasn't so fixed on a number. Any number under 200 would be welcomed at this point. I know it sounds odd since so many people have that "number" and stay strict to it. I have always been the odd girl out, never following the norm.. So yeah, my goals seem to focus not on weight but on NSV's and I wonder if that is going to be a problem.

    Little Comments/Big Hurts

Jack-Sweets make me feel bad, too! But-I don't have freaked out brownie dreams! What's in that water your drinking, anyways? At lunch today, I looked around and so many people were eating all of this high fat/high carb stuff. You know what I did? I looked at everyone and noticed that MANY people are overweight. Strange, I have ALWAYS felt like the fattest person in a room. Today, I didn't-I wasn't. I ate a side salad at Wendy's(I couldn't even eat all of it). I felt proud of myself and I didn't get down on myself for eating unhealthy. Hey, NSV- DH said that I was looking skinny, today! AND a lady that works in the dressing room at Wal-mart told me that I was pretty. No one has told me that in a long time! You know, I felt skinny and pretty today. Sure, I have a long way to go but I feel good about myself today.
  24. Yesterday I had to go shopping for pants that didn't fall off! 3 1/2 months ago I was wearing very snug size 22/24. Since , in the past, my weight would fluctuate as a result of yo-to dieting, I had clothes in many sizes. The smallest was size 16. I went to a plus-sized store to buy a smaller pair of pants. Much to my surprise the 14s were too big. I must admit that, despite the fact that I was delighted that I was in a smaller size, I panicked a little. I hadn't shopped for "regular" sized clothing in a long time. I also harbored a suspicion that a size 14 (or any size) in a plus sized store was actually larger than the same size in a regular store. Not sure why I thought that but I did. Much to my surprise and delight, I found that I fit into a size 12!!! Wow! I couldn't believe it! When I looked in the mirror I was able to see ( or maybe recognize) that I actually did look considerably different than I did before surgery. Other people had been telling me so, I just didn't really see it. I've been slowly clearing clothes out of my closet, but still hanging on to some favorite things that are too big. I guess that subconsciously I thought that I might need them again. That little shopping trip has put a new perspective on what I'm hanging on to, so tomorrow I'm going to get rid of those items to make way for my future wardrobe! 25. @@mstrice oh dear, another long post from me interesting timing of this post - saw my doc yesterday blood pressure and diabetes are both usually helped by WLS (lower the dosage, or have med removed totally) i was taken off my blood pressure and diabetes meds shortly after sleeve (5 years ago) my epilepsy dosage was cut in 1/2 after a year!!! (biggest unexpected NSV) i told dr yesterday i thought we needed to talk about my BP and diabetes both #'s have been going up i did go back on BP meds a few months ago - doc agreed i now need to take more my diabetes meds should also be restarted doc "thinks" epilepsy meds should remain the same, no prob doing blood work once a month for the next year - gotta make sure no problems with seizures the above is about ME only many OP won't have to ever take meds again or will have a lower dosage sleeve has been around for a llllllong time initially did it to help OP with stomach cancer docs were realizing people were losing lots of weight PO docs then decided to make sleeve a WLS as time passes, more stats will be available from the sleeve (since they want more time for averages/stats) docs might realize that meds might have to be restarted for some don't mean to be a doubting dora just saying stuff i heard (if i'm mistaken please don't throw Protein shakes or bars at me ) good luck with surgery kathy
