3 months and 2 weeks post op

Ok so its been 3 months and 2 weeks since my surgery  I have to say I have not lost alot of weight since the surgery either.. But no worries I know it will go.. So before the surgery I lost about 10 pounds on the pre op and since the surgery I have lost about 19 pounds so around 30 pounds all together which really with my BMI is pretty good  an average of 10 pounds per month  Ok so after my surgery I lost I think 10 pounds on the post op liquid diet then I did not loose anything for 1 whole month of doing all I was supposed to do. So I have to say I have slacked.. I am eating much less but eating anythning I want really. No diet. I guess its the stress of my life right now. But I think I could be loosing more weight it I would watch wat I eat. Although I do not agree with this carb free sugar free mess. I do think we all never to cut back on sweets and anything high calorie but to say no carbs and no sugar is setting you up to fail and i dont believe this is healthy. Anyways right now I have 5cc in my 10cc band and I feel i need another fill.. I got into an argument with the checkout person at the office so now I am looking for a new fill doctor  she was rude!! Well I just wanted to post a little update.. although its hard and sometimes i get discouraged I always try to remind myself this weight will be gone sooner than later so dont stress if its taking a while!!

    Feeling Anxious Surgery On 9/24

    10/24 sleevers...GOOD LUCK!!! :>)
  4. Ok I was banded a year and half ago (Apr 2011) ... I weighted in at 283 and I am now down to 217. I've gotten down to 210 and over the last few weeks have gotten careless in my eating habits and have gained a few pounds. I get frustrated because I know the band works different for everybody but I see people reach their goals in 6 - 9 months. I do believe not rushing to get the weight off has helped with the excess skin but I'm so ready to get to my goal weight of 185! I have basically no fluid in my band (1.8 cc in my 10 cc band) I can't manage a fill more than this because it makes it really difficult to get my food down. Like the title says I'm just feeling some type of way ... I have recently moved overseas also in support of my spouse so I don't have all the wonderful amenities that I'm use to in the states. So excusing has drastically deceased but fresh fruit and veggies are dirt cheap so cooking has gotten easier. :-/ I guess I just needed to vent!
  5. I was sleeved on May 3rd, and was told nothing but clear liquids only for 10 days after surgery. Followed by full liquids for another 4 days before allowing strained soups and such. Its hard, but I've lost 22 lb since the surgery :-D

    Eating

I know that it is normal to not be hungry post RNY. I am 10 days out. Up to today, if been managing to eat, even though I am not hungry. I set alarms to remind me to eat. But today has been a very different day. I simply have not been able to eat today. One teaspoon and I want to vomit. I am not feeling sick and nauseous, it's just that I can't bare to eat a thing I am so full. Is it OK to have the days? My total calories today were 97 cals. I am taking all my vitamins.
  8. My experience is that you shouldn't tell EVERYONE. But you will need key members of your family and friends to understand what you are going through. Being 10 days post op myself and the emotional aspect of the surgery taking place, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the close people in my life that knew what I just went through and why. It may mean you have defind yourself to your brother or loved ones, explaining why you feel you need the surgery. People tend to act like it is something you don't need because they are thinkin that is what you need to hear. Others really do think it can be controled with eating and exercise. I had the surgery because I couldnt do it alone. I hope this has helped at least a little.
  9. Been waiting 6 months. Now in 10 days I will have my final weigh in and then surgery on the 25th! It's dragging on so slowly. I am ready for this! I want to get the surgery out of the way and start losing already. Anyone else going on the 25th of July?

    Is something wrong

Wow that is great!!! How long did you have to do pre op diet? I only ask because I started at 399 and my doctor had me do a 37 day pre op diet. I still have 10 days to go. I have lost 23 pounds. I hope I still have a huge weight loss like you after surgery.

    Weight stall

Congratulations on your fabulous progress! 50lbs is fantastic! Stalls are pretty darn common and as long as you are following the plan, your stall will break. Everyone hates a stall but there will be many more I am sad to say. My longest lasted almost a month, my shortest about 10 days. I am typically a daily weigher although when I am in a stall I have to remind myself not to get frustrated. Just keep moving forward with your diet and exercise and the stall will break. I would also consider that you are working out a lot which is great but what might be happening is that you are building muscle which weighs more than fat. You might even notice that even though the scale is not moving your clothes might be getting loser. I would guess that you are losing inches. Hang in there!

    Weight stall

I am currently 10 weeks post op and have lost 50 #. I have not lost any weight in the last 3 weeks, I have heard of the 3 month stall but did not expect it to happen so soon. I work out 6 days a week, all 6 days with some form of cardio(only walking), distance, intervals, fast pace etc. I also do upper and lower body weights 2xweek. I have not started sit-ups as I was told not to start them until my 3 month visit. Does anyone have any ideas to get me jump started? I am getting frustrated and have slipped back to my old ways twice. Please help me.

    Out of the threes

I know the feeling im 10 lbs away. Im down 40lbs in 6 weeks
  16. I will be spending the next week in London at the Holiday Inn Mayfair. I am 10 weeks post-op so I can eat almost anything, but I have managed to become a bit lactose intolerant so I have had to give up on most Protein shakes and rely upon real food. (Protein shakes were difficult to travel with anyway). I could use some tips on local sources of Protein that I can pick up while I am in town. Are there any brands of Jerky, greek yogurt, or other foods I should look for? I am also interested in restaurants and such as sushi bars, tapas, and such where I can get some good protein without too much fuss. Finally I would appreciate ny tips you might have about eating local fare (pubs, curries, etc). Thanks in advance....

    Do you ever?

Georgia, you said it best! Fat brain still reigns over me! I still think I need to shop in the plus section, and find it foreign to shop in Misses...I'm a size 6 M/S. It funny how we get so used to the way things are/have been and how it takes us so long to adapt. Whenever I try clothes on, I always get a 6,8 and 10, because my Fat Brain says 'A 6 is WAY too SMALL!', guess what, it never is! It's the same way when I go grocery shopping, or cook, or go out and order food at a restaurant. My Fat brain says 'you need MORE' 'That portion is WAY too SMALL!', guess what? I usually have TONS of left-over...I'm almost a year and a half out, am still losing, and still have a VERY Fat brain! Just ignore it, it may never go away, but your body knows better! Congrats on your loss so far!
  18. My two boys, 10 and 5, were distressed when I told them I was having surgery to help me lose weight. My 10 year old said 'I like you squishy' and the 5 year old said "Mommies are supposed to be soft". Personally, I think they were unhappy because they knew the days of making mommy's belly fat do the wave were numbered. I did the whole explanation thing about how losing weight helps helps you lead a more healthy life but they weren't having any of it. My solution? I simply pointed out that mommy would now be able to take them to the park more often, play laser tag with them for the first time ever and the best thing of all, mommy would be around a lot longer for them. They liked that answer. It also helped I let them videotape the belly wave and I did the 'fat butt dance' for them to record for posterity as well. For the record, the fat butt dance is done in your underwear and shaking your rear end as quickly as possible, usually to a song by the Wiggles OR Van Halen (hey, I'm an artist, people) and a good time is had by all. In the end, they adapt. The husband on the other hand, is REALLY disturbed. He was home for lunch today, gave me a hug and said "Wow...I can actually get my arms around you now!'' And yes, he's still breathing. :grouphug:

    September bandsters

Hi All. I was banded on 19th Sept. Since then I have lost about 10 kgs or 20 pounds. It's slow but I'm coming to terms with that! I have had two fills and with both I had restriction for about a week and then it loosened up a bit. I have no idea how many cc's I have or what cc total my band is. I am going for another fill in early January, which I hope will put me in a better position. During restriction phases after my fills I ate a lot less, but after that, where I am right now, I have found I can eat pretty much anything apart from bread. Old habits do creep in, but I am trying and that's all I can do! I also have to get off my bum and do some exercise!!!
  20. Four days since surgery and I'm off to the races! Here are my starting stats: The day of my consult with Dr. Dunshee was 12/14/10: 300 Morning of Surgery (after a cruise and a 10 day pre-op diet): 292.4 Day after surgery (Dr. said gain of about 5 lbs. was expected): 294.5 Day 2: 293 Day 3: 289.5 Day 4: 286.8 I am so geeked!!!

    How do you reward yourself?

I bought myself a 10 punch card for the fitness studio by my house. It includes TRX, Zumba, turbo kickboxing, Piyo ( Pilates and yoga) and belly dancing. It's a blast!!!!
  22. I'm a new sleever looking for a mentor. I'll be sleeved 10/6/14. I'm going at this so blindly. I'm not sure which diet is the best. How to maximize weight loss and time. What kind of activities did you pick up? How did you get over your eating disorder?

    Long stall

I'd say start tracking exactly what you eat and go back to being as strick as you were post op. Also, get more exercise in. Make sure you get your protein and water in, up to as much as 80-100g. Makes a huge difference. Keep carbs between 60-80. Also check out the newest post called 100 lbs down, he gives insight regarding his exercising. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/70301-100-pounds-gone-10-pounds-to-goal/
  24. Today marks 21 days since I had my Surgery. ( RNY) Started soft foods today and could not be happier . No issues anywhere. As of this morning I am down 36 lbs since 10 days before surgery when I started diet . Feel good and nothing to complain about as of now. Whoop whoop !!!
  25. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I will be 7 months out on 3/10. I have only lost 35 pounds since surgery. I get in all my protein and all of my liquid. I am working out both cardio and weight training and I am not seeing any movement on the scale. My surgery weight was 259.6 my current weight is 224.2. I take my vitamins. I get in my 10k steps... Can someone tell me where and how I need to make adjustments.... This is getting frustrating and quite discouraging because I am truly working for the body I want.
