  1. I made a poodle. Yup. I almost took a picture but that might have been too much. I feel so much better.
  2. That is SO terrific...no wonder you were excited! It also makes up for the darned scale not moving! I had a funny NSV late last week in that I put on a skirt, blouse and sweater jacket that was always a little snug and like your story...it was clearly too big. But I was dressed and didn't want to change so I even commented to my husband as I left the house that this was the last time I would wear it and would put in the Goodwill bag when I got home. Later at work I was standing in my administrative assistant's cubical and she reached out and tugged on my skirt and said, "you are definitely losing weight...that dress is too big." My skirt dropped to my ankles with her slight tug! Fortunately I had a slip on and we both burst out laughing. Her cubicle is private so only the two of us watched me lose my skirt! That wouldn't have happened a few weeks ago!

    What is my problem?!?!?!?!

I've been thinking about this, and I think it qualifies as an NSV. You have figured out how to MAINTAIN! Isn't that the name of the game? Learning how to maintain once you have lost? I think being able to take a break means that you have learned a valuable lesson. Congrats!

    NVS

That was a big NSV for me too! I find that I still reach for the beachtowel first when grabbing a towel, now it almost goes around me twice! woo-hoo Great job!!! I love the pic, you look as happy as you sound in your post! Keep it up!

    What NOT to Wear?

I wear a button up shirt, UNbuttoned, over a tshirt or tank top, I hate it when all those waists show, you know the ones around the bra line. I think it's much more fashionable to have the hips and belly covered, even if it does look pg from the front. Since I'm passing through the menopause thing now, I can't stand anything tight and binding, although, since dropping a few pounds, I like my shorts much shorter than the knee now. Ahhh, not to have them crawl up between my legs when I walk, that's like a major NSV.

    Funny NSVs!

I had a wonderful day of NSV's last night. With my hypermobility, I had really come to dread having a bath. Not only was the extra weight putting more pressure on my joints, but the bath was getting rather snug! Which made it more difficult for me to get out of! Well, last night I set myself in my bath and discovered I know longer had to squeeze into it, infact I could gently sway, there was a space either side of me! Also, the chore that was shaving legs, suddenly was easier! My legs weren't being kept away from me by my tummy! There was no awkward spots being missed. (this is one bit my hypermobility is good for.)I was able to stretch my leg to the point where it oculd touch my shoulder, extreme I know but I can't remember I was last able to do tha! I know that these are small NSVs, but it is a great heart warmer for me. I do look at myself nearly every day, wishing to see drastic changes nad being disappointed. Which I know is silly. The last remenants of my hope that I would lose all the weight with a snap of my fingers, is dwindling day by day and the reality is settling in comfortably! Just as it takes 4/6 weeks for the healing to complete, it is also a healing process of the mental kind. I am regaining control of my eating and my life. It is a day by day process but is still the best thing, apart from haivng my son! I'm even contemplating the possibility of dating! Now note, this is just contemplation, it's not just the weight that is holding me back from a realtionship but is most definitey a factor. Being single does have some fantastic advantages lol!

    An NSV of sorts

That is a great NSV, you should be proud! I am having a tough time at work today. I work for an agency that cares for abuse, abandoned and neglected kids. I work in the development office. This afternoon, they are going to be bringing the kids from our campus and group homes by the office to trick-or-treat. I have this huge bowl of candy sitting on top of my filing cabinet in my office waiting for them. It has been tormenting me all day. One of the candies I bought was Twix. That was so dumb of me. I love twix. So far, I have resisted the urge, but I am not sure how much longer I will be able to hold it.
  16. Yay Fern for your nsvs (which are both way cool), but WTH is up with your "best" friend????? I meant it's one thing to have concerns before the surgery, but come on to be like that 3 months later, what is up? I'd hate to have a best friend who didn't support me in something to improve my health and quality of life. I hope she comes around soon!

  18. This is where the thread for the before and after pics are : http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/5-general-sleeve-surgery-discussion/ There is also a thread asking the guys to show their stuff, lol in the NSV part but they hardly post anything there either.
  19. Congrats on having such a great recovery. I would count that as your 1st NSV if you haven't started counting them yet!
  20. I had to share and y'all on this site are truly the only people that would understand. Today I bought concert tickets for August 2013. I'm hoping to be sleeved in February 2013. Up until now I would have made an excuse not to go because I know I would never fit in freaking seat!! But today I am certain that by August I will not only fit in the seat comfortably but I'll be able to walk up and down the arena stairs without embarrassing myself. So excited!!

    New NSV :)

That's right up there with the aggrivation of your shorts riding up one leg. Never figured out why they only ride up on one side, any way, that was my nsv this summer, no more shorts riding up my legs, walking a foot, then pulling it out, come on ladies you've been there I know, LOL.
  22. ReneBean

What your weight loss REALLY means....

welcome to the philosophy of the NSV! Huzzah!
  25. My husband and I have been going to the gym on and off for about a year... mostly off...lol. We started the 5k training together last week. Its going great. On days we dont walk\run, we do the weight training on the machines. He likes to take turns on the machine so he can compete with me. He is 6'2" tall and about 210. He is not muscular really so we lift pretty close the each other. Anyway, we were on this thigh machine that works your outer thighs. The two pads are against your outer thighs and your legs are together when you start. You swing your thighs apart to lift the weight. He started first and his inner thighs were touching and his knees very nearly. Then it was my turn to do a set. I started and there was this huge gap when my legs were together, he said, hey! your cheating... you dont have it set where your legs are all the way together! I said, yes I did! We checked it and sure enough, and to my great surprise, it was as close at the machine allows and there was at least 5 inches of room between my legs! LOL.. it was the greatest feeling to know my thighs have shrunk that much! They look little now! So much smaller then our earlier visits to the gym this year that he thought I was cheating! Woohooo! Just thought I would share in my excitement. My hubby couldnt stop talking about it at the gym... I love my sleeve
