I'd no longer qualify for WLS!
jfc193 replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations I too believe in celebrating small goals. I had my weight loss surgery in 2007 and have "yet" to make it to goal. I would of given up long ago if I did not Celebrate NSV's or short time goals. You would be surprised how many WLS patients think they are failures because they do not reach their weight loss goal. I on the other hand am extremely grateful every day for having my active life back. -
What a great NSV! Good for you for such a great job at beating it!

No More Weightloss?
Ms skinniness replied to Seemebetter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ditto what Lissa stated! You are not done losing weight, in fact, you have just begun! I can't wait for you to experience putting on your slacks in the AM and by mid afternoon, suddenly, they're baggy! Such an awesome NSV! Hang in there, it will happen over night. -

I am in complete shock and disbelief! This morning I headed to the track for my ususal exercise - walk and jog a total of 2 or 3 miles. Lately I've been jogging one lap non-stop then walking with a little bit of jogging mixed in when I felt I could do it. Well, this morning when I got to the track I started jogging right off the bat. I was just finishing my lap and I decided to keep going, next lap same thing, then again and again. In total I jogged 1 mile (4 laps) non-stop!!! Then I continued to walk another 2 & 1/2 miles. Never in my life have I jogged a mile! I feel amazing knowing that I am getting stronger; my heart is stronger, my lungs are stronger, my muscles are stronger, and my determination and belief in myself is stronger than ever! I can't believe I did it! And I can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. Amazing itsn't it. You loose 65 pounds and you whole life changes. Why did you get banded n the first place? I mean, what was the real deep down reason? What kept you fat all those years? What does fat mean to you? What does being fat represent? What are some of the most amazing NSVs you've had, what brain things clicked or snapped, what relevations hav you had since loosing your weight? If having lost 65 pound, can you see how your life would change further with more weight loss? Are you ready for those changes or are you at some level afraid of them? You have not booked excuses. You just have to learn how to manage these parties. And how to manage your life before the parties so you don't undo all your hard work. I think the number one thing you are going to need to do is manage your time. You have all these other things booked, so with the extra income, you really need to think about getting a personal trainer. Think of this as a professional development expense. Even if your eating and drinking get out of hand, at least the trainer will be able to mitigate some of it. You must figure out how to schedule time to excersize. Must Must Must. Besides you deserve it. Make sure you are getting in your Water. Stave off dehydration and flush out the toxins from the martinis. Eat a good dinner before your parties. And you know what I mean by good. Get some protien, get some fat, get some complex carbs. Low-glycimic baby.

Finally...the Nsv I've Been Waiting For!
VJSlim replied to his2my2our4's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome!! Congrats!! To me Clothes are the best NSVs - they give you instant pleasure when you realize the surgery has made all the difference in your life!! Would you believe me if I say I've NEVER worn a jeans and T in my life? I live in India and I always wear our 'traditional' clothes (Salwar Kameez - if you would like to google it ) I've dreaded wearing jeans coz my thighs are huge and I always felt like jeans would look too odd on me. I cant wait to lose inches in my thighs and wear my first pair of jeans & T !!! LOL -

if you are able to walk.......that is a NSV if you can wipe your ass.....that is a NSV if you can put your own socks on.....that is a NSV if you can sit on a chair or bed no longer fearing it breaking...that is a NSV these are some of my personal NSV's after i had WLS i did not care what the scale said (still dont as i go by losing inches/clothes getting bigger on me) i did not care if i ever got to be a size 2 i wanted to be able to do those things merely WALKING without fear of passing out due to heavy breathing merely sitting down somewhere not being scared the chair would break (like in the movie shallow hal) trust me, those NSV mean a lot MORE than a stupid ass number on a scale when you go from wearing a TIGHT size stretch 30 to a snug 12/14 ......you understand when inches lost means losing TRUE weight... only lost a pound? how about being able to live comfortably its about health not about being skinny or a size... -

Yes! Just Figured Out The Protein! :)
Smontgomery posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, protein shakes aren't working for me too well. They are just too thick. I tried mixing orange whey protein with orange juice but, it was too sweet. So today, I tried something new. I love the iced mocha latte from Dunkin Donuts. I just ordered a medium iced latte, decaf, skim milk, no whipped cream and added a scoop of dutch chocolate IsoPure protein to it. I get in 25 grams of protein and get to sip one of my favorite drinks. This is offically my first NSV! -
Ok everyone, I figured I needed to post a little about my journey and what's going on ......I haven't really seen any NSV's yet so I decided I needed to search for them no matter how small and this is what I've come up with. Some I'm reaching for so share a laugh with me MY NSV'S - (although few, here they are) K I noticed only one fitted shirt that used to fit tight and now it is comfortable to wear. I don't have to give my t-shirts a little stretch before putting them on. (u know what I'm talkin about) My mom noticed my belly wasn't sticking out as far as it used to even though I'm only at about 10lbs loss. We have a large box fan that we stretch across the hallway to point in our bedroom and you have to climb over it everytime you need to go into the bedroom. I used to have to lean on the doorway to brace myself to climb over it to keep from falling on my ass and breaking it on my way over, but now I find I don't even break my stride anymore - feels almost like I'm easily jumping hurdles now. (Here I come Fluffy Girl Olympics! Watch out!) I am able to stand on one leg and and put my shoes on without having to sit or lean on a doorway - and without just getting the shoe on halfway before I'd lose my balance and my leg would fall and then I'd just squish my foot around in it until it got all the way on - deforming your shoe eventually after years of abuse like this - (come on I know some of you have done this too, lol) I feel I fit better against my boyfriend when he hugs and squeezes the ol' toosh goodbye when I leave for work. He used to have to wrap his arms around sidways to grab my behind when we were hugging, but now I notice he can hug me straight on with his hands slipped over the back of my hips to give the ol' apple cheeks a squeeze. My docker pants at work almost fit again. You see we only order pants once a year at work and mine haven't fit for a lonnnggggg time - I'd say close to a year so what I've been doing and another big girl at work does the same - you wear the zipper down a few inches and tuck the opening in so its not obvious your pants don't fit - well that zipper has gradually been getting closer back to the top and now in another few pounds I will be able to actually fully zip and button them again. This I am excited about because its very uncomfortable to wear your pants like this for 12 hour shifts at a time. OH and I forgot this happened just tonight! I've been ordering 2XL shirts at work since I started 6 years ago. Well now its that time to order new shirts I put down only an XL thinking of the upcoming eventual weight loss and the personal secretary actually emailed me to confirm I only wanted an XL - I replied and asked her what she was trying to say? (Just messin with her, but it will be funny to see her squirm and try to reply tomorrow:D ) And my boyfriend must be noticing some weight loss too because the other night he said when I lose all the fat I better not lose my rear too cuz he likes it. (I doubt I will cuz believe it or not its the only thing that isn't fat on my body, it might shapen down, but I won't lose it a lot of it and that's ok because I don't have a lot to spare back there) I carry most of my weight in my stomach area even though I am amply blessed in the chest area too. Who knows what's going to happen.....but I massage my body all over periodically telling it you will not be loose and saggy.......ahhhhh the power of positive thinking. So my last dr.'s apt. on Sept. 1st - I had lost a total of 8lbs - I think i've lost at least 3 more now but I don't keep scales at my house, but I was at my sister's the other day and she has a generic one - I thought what the heck but before I got on I noticed it wasn't aligned properly and was showing +3lbs - so I got on it and it said I weighed exactly what I had at my last dr.'s apt. so I figured to -3 off of what it showed to make it even (although I know this is only a rough estimate) - so possibly within the last month I've dropped 3lbs which is a huge success for me - as long as it keeps going that direction. I've been an extremely slow loser post op 4 months and only down 8lbs - possibly 11lbs now. ok so there is what's going on in my life and I really wanted to share with everyone - it makes me feel like I'm making progress however little it may be - it's still progress for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless!

That's right up there with the aggrivation of your shorts riding up one leg. Never figured out why they only ride up on one side, any way, that was my nsv this summer, no more shorts riding up my legs, walking a foot, then pulling it out, come on ladies you've been there I know, LOL.

Go Jess, Go!! Less than 18 kg to goal AND nsv's... Way to Go!

Well, I am 37 years old and have bought my very FIRST pair of bluejeans! (Hold on to something tight, the earth might be moving where you are - I am in he process of doing the happy dance!!) I have always been a big girl and never ever thought I looked good in jeans and still don't actually look good in them, but at least I feel comfortable in a size 18 now! I never would bring myself to buy them to wear because I never felt I would look decent in them. Might not be a big deal to alot of folks, but that is going in my scrapbook as soon as I get my hubby to take a picture of me wearing them! Thanks for listening to me and my silly NSV.
