  1. 19 days post op. Since May 20, I have lost 33.8 pounds. I can already start my abdomen is less bloated, although I haven't quite yet dropped a pants size yet. My clothes are looser, but when I go down a size they are still too snug. But... this morning I put on the flip flop style sandals that I have been wearing for about 6 months regularly and they are TOO BIG! They are totally too loose and I could easily go down at least half a size in them. I am so glad this happened today, because I was getting ready to buy a new pair of walking shoes. When I am heavy I wear an 8.5, but when I am skinny I wear 7.5-8 (that is where I was 8 years ago). I will probably have to go with an 8 today since I am not down to my 7.5 size yet. Anyhow, it is those little victories that get us through this, right?

    August 2019 Check In

Gastric Sleeve 12th August, Dilation OGD 17th August, Emergency Bypass 20th August. 5 foot 10" HW 115 kg (253 lbs) SW 112 kg (246 lbs) CW 96kg (211 lbs) So far lost 19kg (41.8 lbs) So after 3 procedures and just over 2 weeks in hospital, I am still getting tired easily. But I go for a gentle walk every other day (around 5km a week = 3miles). I am starting to be able to do more around the house and my wounds all look good, especially considering they were re-opened! Bending is still uncomfortable on my tummy but much easier than before the op. What I do love is my clothes hanging off me LOL and I can get up the stairs without huffing and puffing OR having to use the handrail to help pull myself up Our stairs are very steep so it's a pretty big non-scale victory (NSV) for me Bit miffed that I have worked out I am definitely lactose intolerant now and in a big way. But had some great tips from some of these forums veterans. I am still on pureed food, not sure when I get to real food, but I'm not in a rush, pureed is better than liquids so I am happy to wait if I have to. Kudos to those of you that have gone back to work, I wouldn't have been able to yet if I did work! Everyone seems to be doing a great job
  3. This morning I weighted myself for my 4weeks Post Op :) If you saw my post about what was going on in week 3 you have most likely have read that I had gained 1.4lbs and then my weight wasn’t moving. glad to say today I had lost that 1.4lbs and an additional 1.2lbs making this weeks lost a total of 2.6lbs :) I know I have only lost 22lbs in 4lbs and that’s amazing but I’m really excited to lose the next 48lbs to get to my first personal goal :) Weight stats: Starting HW: 270.6 PRE-Op diet starting weight: 268.3 Surgery weight: 266.8 WEEK 1: -11.6lbs Week 2: -5.4lbs Week 3: +1.4lbs Week 4: -2.6lbs Total: -22lbs My personal Goals: Goal 1: get down to 200lbs (48.6lbs to go 😊) Goal 2: get down to 180lbs Goal 3: get down to 160lbs Goal 4: get down to 135lbs NSVS: • I can go in my closet and pick any 2xl clothing and it be fitting just right or lose, and some XL fit nicely :) • I see the difference in my face and body Other updates: • Still have no appetite, still forcing myself to eat for fuel unless I go longer that 3 hours I do get this one feeling of emptiness • I can tolerate Greek yogurt (texture throws me off but I don’t mind it), tuna, 4 shredded cheese blend or mozzarella/cheese sticks, mashed beans, steamed zucchini and carrots (yay I been wanting veggies), Atkins French vanilla protein shakes, cottage cheese, reduced fat ritz crackers, scrambled eggs • can’t tolerate chocolate flavored Atkins protein shake, I get sick with nausea • my water intake is improving, getting closer and closer to 64oz

    Tell me something good :)

Yeah Panda I started OSU with a 50+ BMI, nice weight for a nice thick Redwood tree but a mite heavy for an Obese Woman. And my half- off, I started at 365+ , just weighed myself this AM, after eons of wanting to chuck weight scales out the nearest window or in a Dumpster, actually did the latter once, one of those sarcastic electronic voices " Do You Realize Your Weight Today is...? Yep, smart-Aleck scale, marched out to the Dumpster and threw it as hard as I could to the rear- that way it would LIE NO MORE! Well my current one, weighs you , then sends an elecronic gentle zap up through your bare feet, never felt a thing, then It calcuates BMI, % fat, % water, and how many calories to maintain, that one I don't pay attention to because I am still in Losing Mode. But it is digital instead of a dial whirring and speaking out loud. And I weigh this morning 181,7 pounds of Happy Happy Camper so over 180 less! And I am going to do my durnest to make it down to 175, loss is slowing BUT not stopped yet! Go over to the NSV thread current and see what else I am boasting about.😜And a Peaceful Sunday to All!

    Unanticipated NSV

Oh my Oh my Do I ever have something to Cheer About, an N.S.V. I didn't anticipate happening! Today I took a Shower, okay okay NOT THE FIRST IN MY lifetime. After YEARS and Years of experience using a Beach Towel or. a Terry Cloth Bath-sheet, I got out a Normal sized Bath Towel, not only did it wrap ALL the WAY around but I had Lap- over Room and could tuck the Edge in. Isn't THAT a Sweet NSV? Because I am So So Proud I've stuck IT through to this point in LIFE and Holy Holy Hip-hop, I AM APPROACHING TRULY AVERAGE/NORMAL SIZE FOR A HUMAN- TYPE PERSON! And I am Over Joyed! 👈😜👉

    Unanticipated NSV

This happened to me on my 3 month and 6 month post-op blood draws and I didn't even think of it - doh! On surgery day they stuck me 4 times, couldn't do it, then the anaesthesiologist had to come and do it with a baby needle on my inside wrist. Ouch. Big difference now. Congrats to us! The NSVs just keep racking up!

I'm 3 months post op. My best NSV is that I have been cleaning my Amazon shopping/ wish lists and I was able to take all of the plus sized clothed off of my wish list. I have also been blessed to have cleaned out my closet twice. Now, I'm running out of stuff to wear and am apprehensive about buying more. ❤️
  8. And a 1 year after update for you all. I went from not being able to cross my legs, to cross in the shape of a figure 4, well last night I crossed them and I almost make a Roman Numeral I, I used to envy my late father-in- law, a tall thin normal- proportioned Dutchman, cause He Could and I Never Could, well today I CAN and. even wrap one foot around behind the other like I've seen Fox News Ladies do, so their undies aren't in view. Whooee, Yippee Yahoo, I'm almost NORMAL & AVERAGE in appearance, Another NSV that I never planned for, they just keep coming and I 💕each and every new thing about ME I FIND!👈😛👉
  9. Shoe size just marginal but I lost from a D width to a B, so that's a NSV for ME!
  10. How much did or are you eating at 3 weeks post op VSG? Tomorrow will be my 3 weeks post op. I’m curious if I’m eating too much (I can eat up to 4oz). The pictures attached are all the guidelines I was given and even on the example meal plan seems way too much. I wasn’t given a calorie goal or anything. My mom was curious on how I was doing so she had me go on the scale Thursday and I had gained 1.6lbs. I know it’s not much but because I’m only on week 3. I make my protein goal of 50-60 grams a day but I’m always short from my 64oz of water by 20oz. I been back to work for 4 days now and I make it a priority to walk home from work since I live not even a mile from my job. Some NSV I have had since surgery are that I can almost touch my thumb and middle finger together around my wrist, I can sit on a conference room chair comfortably without the arm rests going into the sides of my thighs (now it still does but not as much as it use to), I see my face slimmer and as well as my stomach, I can wear jackets I had to put in the back of my closet because my arms were too big and I couldn’t zip them up.

    Unanticipated NSV

@ummyasmin such a great NSV!! you must be thrilled!!☺️ I thought/hoped my bi monthly blood draws would be easier once i lost weight unfortunately, i'm told my stupid veins are deep, and they "roll" Therefore, i'll watch you, and be happy for your well deserved NSV. kathy congrats
  12. I used to have difficult veins to find for blood draws. Now my doc didn't even have to do the pressy pressy thing, he could see the vein right through the skin. Skinny arms FTW

    NSV

Just had Ambulatory Surgery to remove a cyst, not feeling too bad, getting over the General they gave ME. My new NSV, I no longer need the "OMG--- Just How Big ARE YOU," size, I got a "Normal" and had enough room it met in the back, so no more "Moon over Miami" for ME!

I bought a bike about two months ago, and my big goal was to have enough confidence to go on long bike rides alone. I was too nervous. I would get on my bike and feel so unsteady. I would not go alone. Just short rides with friends. Yesterday morning, I woke up and just did it. I had been praying for help, and signed up for a cycling confidence course beginning Sept 4th, but I wanted to be steady and sure enough to join the class and not slow them down. I took my bike to a near by parking lot and practiced, got used to the gears, did figure 8s, and then took off to the nearest bike path. 45 minutes later..... I felt like a 12 year old. I could stop, get up, get down, turn corners, go fast, go up a hill, down a hill.... go over bumps! I came home and just had tears rolling down my face. Working out in the gym, improving my balance, losing weight..... and the inspiration of people here, really helped. That was NSV 1. NSV 2 is that I have 10 bottles of fine wine club wines in my house and my car that I did not touch for weeks now. Today is the day I take them to a family reunion, to share (give away) to everyone. I DO NOT MISS Wine!!!! That was the toughest thing to give up! I feel blessed!

I am still waiting for this NSV! Given my edema issues, it may never happen, but it would be so terrific! Congrats to you!

Ok, I shared this link on the OOTD thread, but there is an NSV here too... The boots I'm wearing are not only regular calf width boots, but for the FIRST TIME EVER, I was able to easily zip boots over jeans! AND still have room to spare to put on some nice warm knee high socks when it gets colder!

    Body dysmorphia

Well how my BD manifests itself for me. Since my still ongoing Weight loss, I have be3n fearful that I look like I'm on the verge of Anorexia or "Failure to Thrive" , scrawny neck, you now can see my collar bones and visualize my top 3 ribs in my chest cavity, hardly any boobs, down from 46DD to a 40/42B, depending on Bra price point. WAIST has diminished , pot belly is now a small warm- up skillet, Baby "no longer has back", now down to 2 small handfuls, if I could get a guy to grab them. Now the flesh on lower abdomen and thighs, especially inner portions, I liken to a balloon that was blown up and then air let out, an empty blobby stretched appearance, but the legs are beaten and trimmed enough I can wear leggings without somebody thinking I was poured into them and didn't know when to stop. And the sizing , ooh I GLORY at that, I'm back into Juniors where I truly belong, Okay still at the Upper End, 17 and 19 , but still a NSV or close to it, my BMI this AM is 29.2. All sounds pretty fine ? Well I am apprehensive that I look sickly and could possibly DIE! No Less than my Ortho, who called me by my Legal First Name, no MaMa did NOT christen ME Frustr8, I picked IT up along the way. Anyway Dr Doolittle, who is Sport Medicine along with Orthopaedics, so should be able to adequately assess body types. He said " Darlin'( from him I accept the endearment , most other guys I would "Jack-Slap" instead) You are merely starting to look NORMAL!" How would I Know That Already? I have never been NORMAL or AVERAGE in my whole existance! So although much of my Veiwing Public feels I look Just Fine, I fear I Am still the obese unbalanced ugly ME I used to Be, and it is difficult for my Rational Mind to overcome my Bruised Battered Emotional Foundation. I was told by Kith and Kin I was Ugly, Disgusting , barely worthy of life and nobody much wanted me Near Them. Case in Point--- I got a BonoFide Wolf Whistle the Other Day, I looked around because I thought it was a compliment given to someone Else. SAD, ISN'T IT?

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Hey everyone, I posted recently, but am always keeping track of the conversation and topics. So I kinda hit a stall and was discouraged, and on top off that I found out I had gallstones. Didn't even make it the scheduled MD appointmentto discuss treatment. I ended up in ER this weekend and had to have gallbladder surgically removed. Has anyone else had the gallbladder removed, and if so how was it afterwards? Could that have caused my 3 week stall prior? I am still tracking food and exercise, and based on that I should be losing weight. I try not to focus on that to much, but it is hard. Well I did just have a NSV, I was able to wear XLG scrubs..[emoji4] Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    OOTD

Only 3 more days in my casual office. A great NSV for me today. Size 28 Levi skinny jeans. I wore these 6 years ago when I was at my lowest before my gain. I went shopping in my to small Jeans tub and all of them fit. Have a great day ladies.
  21. Tmrrw makes 1 week postop for me. I gained 4.2lbs while being in the hospital for surgery. I’m down those extra pounds & 2.6lbs on top of that. I know that the extra weight came from IV & probably also water retention. I woke up out of anesthesia burping & the following day, started to pass gas. I was finally able to poop this morning with the help of milk of magnesia. I’m able to get down 2 protein shakes a day, crystal light & other fluids. Can’t wait til I see the true weight come off. I’m big on taking measurements & celebrating NSVs, but it was a shocker to see the weight gain after surgery. You can keep up with my journey on IG @CurlyGirl_GetsFit

From the album: After Revision to Bypass

Wore a Tank top to an Amusement park and actually got complements. We went into the water park too and rode the slides. Me, in a tank and shorts, in the water... getting complements and being able to ride EVERYTHING without even a second glance or to look for the extender belt. It was an amazing NSV.

    Non Scale Victories

Here's a little NSV story. When I first got to my current assignment last year, I was confronted with tiny blue armchairs in every office. Just looking at them, I knew they would be difficult to sit in, but I tried anyway. I needed the help of two people to get out! Yesterday, I found myself alone in a room with one of the little monsters and decided to try my luck. It was still an uncomfortable beast but I got in and out of it without any struggle, although not much room to spare. Still, it was a victory and I don't have to avoid the chairs and stand, or have another chair rolled in because I don't fit.

    NSV's Spring 2019 Edition

I had this one but it was an office building with the windows that are like mirrors to reflect the light cause it gets real hot here in the summer. I rounded the corner and came face to face with a total stranger. It was a little unnerving to realize i didnt know myself. I have since gotten used to my new looks but it is odd the way we hold onto how we think we look and how long it can take to see the changes. keep up the posts, i come to the NSV whenever i need a pick me up cause seeing everyone's joy at the small wins over life is a real upbeat way smooth out a day with too many downs and short of ups

    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

I didn’t take a nap today but I slept in an extra hour and it felt great. My bike arrived today, however it has some assembly, I’m really hoping I can ride it tonight. It’s really cute. NSV from my Fitbit today!
