Will My Boobs Lose Weight?
It's all new replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes - at 255 I was a 42G and at 180 I am a 36DDD. I know i am going to keep shrinking even more. In fact, I am anticipating needing a lift for sure by the time I'm at goal, and maybe implants. Seems like more and more of what is going to remain will be loose skin rather than breast tissue - TMI maybe, but that's the reality! -
I know this may be TMI,but I suffer from PMDD and I'm over a week late. I was banded 12-28-12 and the ugly mood is there but not my period. Is this normal? Definitely not preg (tubal ligation)

Surgery is 5/25 but having some minor second thoughts....Can anyone relate?
Bandy2sleeve replied to Alimap300's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Alimap300 @bilisgfy @justJoan looks like we are all May 25 surgery date (apologies if I left anybody out - but please shout out so I know who my May 25 sleeve buddies are). Lovely to know that there are some other people out there going through exactly the same thoughts fears and realities I'm about to go through on Thursday. I am suffering badly with gas... from both ends. Apologies for the TMI - but neither have ever been an issue for me before, so not sure if it's the liquid diet - my stomach still readjusting after band removal.. but hope it gets better on the other side :-) -

what "little" things are you looking forward to post-surgery?
New&Improved replied to artisticmindRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being able to buy clothes from a decent store good brands not just big and tall.. Being able to walk around for hours to keep up with my family. Being able to fit on rides better. Not dealing with sweat between rolls (tmi) Not being looked at everytime I go out to eat. Being able to run for more than 30 seconds. Well be nice to have some female attention for once! Fit people get treated better in every aspect of life especially when shopping! Being able to fit into my sports car better Being able to go hiking it's been about 6 years.. Being able to save money on food and being a cheap drunk if I ever do drink. My biggest one is hopefully not to be hungry constantly every day, eating to live not living just to eat! -
Revision from Lap Band
salsa1877 replied to JustFluffy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Good evening! I had band to bypass revision on May 3 and I LOVE IT!! I am so happy with my "decision". Mine wasn't so much of a decisions as it was...if you ever want to eat again you need to get the stupid band out of you. I was very successful with my band and lost 110 pounds in 9.5 months but then right around my 3 year anniversary I started having major problems. I was completely unfilled but I kept throwing up quite regularly. Any time anyone would question it, I just made one excuse after another without realizing it: The food was too tought, I ate to fast, I didn't chew enough, etc. Finally I had resorted to eating three things: Hershey's with almonds, cheese puffs, and Pasta with alfredo sauce because those were the only things that would go down with out being rejected by my band...which we soon nick-named the "anti-gravity band"...cuz what went down was inevitably coming up!!! (TMI...but any of us revisioners have been there and done that!) After craziness with my insurance company I finally had my revision done by Dr. Stowers in Decatur, TX. The recovery was very easy for me. I was back to work as a high school science teacher 6 days after surgery. The first two weeks were pretty easy because it was just liquids. Weeks 3-6ish were a little more difficult as I transitioned to soft foods and then to real foods. I was getting nauseated all the time. Every time I ate I felt like I was getting car sick. However, that has seemed to fade unless I eat too much fat. I have avoided sugar at almost all cost except for the piece of cheesecake on my birthday which sent me over the edge. Dumping for me is a lot less about running to the bathroom (though I was in there for a while) and more about my the heart pounding in my chest. From what I have read everyone's experience is a little different but for me I know when I have too much fat or sugar because my DH can put his hand just barely touching my shirt and feel my heart beating. I can feel it in my ears and it is awful. This might sound bad but I am done counting calories, grams of Protein, and everything else so I don't. I eat things that are healthy (though I am having a really hard time even wanting meat...it disgusts me right now!) and I eat small amounts but I don't fret like I did with my band. I have lost 27 pounds in just under three months. However, I was fairly close to goal and only have 13 pounds to go to get to goal so my BMI was not very high. Both my doctor and I agreed that I would take the weight off slowly because my rapid weightloss with the band caused me some medical issues. I will tell you that your tastes buds are going to change. I thought they were crazy when they said you wouldn't crave sweets, but I haven't wanted a candy bar, doughnut, or ice cream since surgery. Salt on the other hand...that is my new "transfer addiction". I can't get enough! Please let me know if you have any questions. I still feel like a newbie myself but I will do my best to answer any questions you might have. Good luck! -
Travel so soon after surgery?
DropWt4Life replied to Kristi Jacobs's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I traveled by plane from San Diego to San Antonio, TX. 3 days after surgery. My doctor okay-ed it, and I was fine. All of my surgery buddies did the same. There are tons of people that travel abroad for medical tourism every year. While there is always a risk of developing blood clots or deep vein thrombosis, the risk can be lowered by staying hydrated and moving about. Easier said than done while you are on a plane. I kept drinking fluids, which caused me to go to the bathroom twice during my 2 1/2 hour flight. TMI, I know. Anyway, it was a risk that I was willing to take since many doctors recommend not traveling for up to 4 weeks after surgery, especially if the surgery is below the waist. I wasn't about to take an extended vacay in Mexico, although my trip was a lot of fun. -
If you can perform the requisite movements (or have your partner pamper you a bit) without pain, then go for it. *TMI alert - I'm a "missionary position" kind of guy, and it took a week or so for my core to feel "back to normal" enough to have sex. Your results may vary

*Bursts In* Am I Late? No, cool 😂 I've noticed that whenever I ate a lot of watermelon, as opposed to other fruit, I lost more weight. Maybe its all the water and fiber for relatively low calories or that it also kept me very regular (also TMI) I didn't start eating it until maybe 6 months post op. Ask your Team about it.

Any other Halloween sleevers in this group?
rmg19881015 replied to laceemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this is my 4th day post op. The first few days were ruff, severe nausea and pain. I'm home and still very uncomfortable still having bad gas pains slight diarrhea. Sorry for tmi. I hope it's just from only being on liquids and not some sort of reaction to my Protein shakes. Getting liquids down still is so hard I'm suppose to drink 3 shakes per day I'm lucky if I can stomach one. I'm trying to do everything by the books and walk ect. This is a tough journey. I'm trying my best what more can we do right? Good luck to you on your journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
After surgery, I am looking forward to...
thinoneday replied to Foxbins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 1 year out and this is what i can now do that i couldn't do or hardy manage when I weighed 350 lbs. I can now sit comfortably in a airplane seat with 8 inches of seat belt left over AND the tray comes down with lots of space underneath it. I can now clean myself (TMI) without pulling my back I can now tie my shoes without thinking about it or getting out of breath I can now run to the mailbox and back (mailbox is down a hill about 1/4 mile) and feel good about it I can now climb up the stairs and not even realize it I can fit into size 16/18 from 32/34 or L from 4XL I can squeeze into really tight places to retrieve stuff I can finally enjoy my life and I thank God every day for allowing me to wake up to enjoy yet another -
I am now in a 36D which seems a long way from a 44FF! I don't know why I didn't expect them to shrink! I think it was because when I was skinny in my teens, I still had big ones! Though truth be told, without a bra I would now describe them as 'long'. TMI apologies :-D

OK, not one of the things I am really wanting to admit but is this normal???? Since a few days after surgury I have noticed all of my body odors are stronger.( four weeks out now) I shower at least twice a day now and deoderant fails within an hour or two tops. I just smell. This is all new for me. I have never had trouble with BO but OK this is about to be TMI..but...ALL of my bodily fluids, bodily odors, hair, everything is just different and not very pleasent. I am brushing my teeth several times a day as well.....ewwww very embarrassing. I thought maybe the liquid Vitamins were doing it so I stopped them for threee days, no change. I am getting plenty of Water, about 68-80 oz a day. I shouldn't be in ketosis because many of my mushies are carbs. Could it be from the protien drinks ( I drink 2 EAS Advantage edge carb controls a day) I will be on solids very soon so I can then give these up if they are the reason. Did anyone else else go through this? Will it go away??? Embarrassed and in need of advice!!!! thanks

Hi Zoumommy, I was also sleeved on 2/3, so I am no expert by far, but have experienced what you are talking about. I try not to be too hard on myself as I am only a bit over 3 weeks out and have found this new way of eating to be a HUGE learning process. I am on soft foods, every surgeon is different re: post op diets, but I find that if I wait too long to eat then I will not chew my food enough because I am hungry and then it will hurt. Just consider it a lesson learned. Also, I have found this week I am hungry all of the time! I am PMS'ing (sorry tmi) so I think that is not helping. Even when I eat until satisfied, I find that I am hungry shortly after, which hasn't happened before. Maybe it's a 3 week post op thing? As our tummies heals, they start wondering where all the food went? Good luck to you!

Shelly's VSG journey - F, 34, 5'6", 242, BMI 39.06
Shells83 replied to Shells83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, days 5 and 6 were pretty uneventful. I'm getting all my protein and fluids in. I'm actually way over on fluids. One of the things I feared most about this surgery was developing a dislike for my beloved water. I'm so happy that I still love my water. I can't chug it like I used to, but I can sip as much as I want with no problems. I did find a new love: Vitamin Water Zero Lemonade. It's nice when I just feel like something other than water. Before surgery I typically drank a couple Sprite Zero sodas per day on top of my water intake. My birthday came and went yesterday. I thought I might feel a little down about being on a liquid diet and no wine or adult drinks, but I was actually really content. My husband and I just chilled at home and rented the movie Blockers. OMG, it was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time! I had to hold a pillow on my tummy because it hurt my incisions a little to laugh that hard! 😂🤣😂 Oh, and TMI alert- I finally pooped on my birthday, five days post-op. 💩 I ended up drinking a little milk of magnesia because I could feel some pains and knew I needed to go. Other than all that, I've been getting tons of walking in and feel really good. I have been weighing myself and am down to 227 from my HW/SW of 242, which was two weeks before my surgery. They didn't weigh me pre-op at the hospital, but I think I weighed 238 at home the Sunday at home day before surgery. So down 15 total since starting the two week pre-op diet. I'll take it! 😁 I actually think my face looks thinner today but feel like I'm crazy because it's too soon to see results. 😊 -
Hi, my surgeon did the band/sleeve revision in one procedure. I was under for 3 hours so waking up took some effort. Like ambc35 my recovery took a little longer too. I took off two weeks and I needed the time. I was pretty tired and there was a fair amount of pain where the port was. I've had absolutely no problems since returning to work 3 weeks after surgery. I don't have kids so I can't speak to that. I have a dog and that forced me to walk every day after I came home from the hospital. Walking was the very best thing I did for myself to speed recovery. My weight loss is slower than I'd hoped. I wish it was more but I'm not too discouraged (yet). I think it's a combo of my starting weight and limited pre-op calorie consumption. I couldn't keep down much I was banded because I threw up practically every meal. (Sorry for the TMI.) Would I do it again? Absolutely. Stats: Surgery July 28, 14 Pre-op 212 Now: 183 Goal 140

Night Eating Syndrome
jane13 replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@WL WARRIOR - yes, sometimes I need to pee. Unless I feel like I am going to wet myself (oops TMI) I try to go back to sleep - if I have more than an hour or so to get up. I get up by 3:30am M-F for work. I try to not drink after 6 either but I did get that extra 16-20oz in after 6pm (and in the middle of the night, which I quit doing). I also try to not let my mind start "running", or I am doomed and might as well get up. For example: I have woke up at 2:30 everyday this week. I just stayed up - I was wide awake I don't feel groggy either.....but around 7pm or so I am doing eyelid checks!!! By the way, I wake up regardless if its a workday or not. Hubby likes to sleep in - I can't, so I watch shows I have DVRd. -
I have a love/hate relationship with it. I have the jumbo face mask one (friends and family have compared it to "Bane" on Batman. I think it's more Alien face-hugger, but whatevs, LOL. Freaking bulky and, ahem, not attractive.) However, the damn thing DOES help a ton. I no longer snore like a wildebeest and keep my husband awake. My sinuses are fabulously cleared because mine hydrates the nostrils (TMI? LOL) so I don't wake up with a crusty nose, and I AM sleeping way better with it. Having said all that . . . I can't WAIT for surgery, and the second I'm breathing/sleeping more normal, I'm going to throw it in the closet and happily ignore it I think. Like a previous poster, I am monitored remotely for compliance. I need to keep it on a minimum of 4 hours a day, 5 of 7 days a week to keep the machine. After 9 months of good-girl usage I can keep it. Until then, they are charging my insurance $250 a month for the privilege of me using the darn thing. I'm a number-cruncher/MFP/Fitbit tracking nerd, and the CPAP machine has a link where you create a user ID and can see your nightly results and get a score, which I like. 7 hours is the magic number to get 90-100. I average 5-6 hours a night. It tells me how often I had waking incidents, usage time, etc., etc. Kinda cool. It DOES help. I was skeptical but going along with it for surgery compliance, but now I really do miss it if I don't use it at night. I feel about as sexy as a troll strapping the stupid thing on after kissing hubby goodnight, but what can you do? P.S. I dangle the extra cord over my bedpost so it doesn't wrap around anything.

I've been working like a dog in my DD's room this afternoon, and I'm on my "break" right now...we went to IKEA and got her a futon for her room! We're moving the twin bed that's in there now to my DH's room, and that bed is goin' OUT. (oh yeah, we have our own rooms for sleeping due to snoring...still lovebirds, though...sorry, TMI) SOOOOO, as you know, when you start one of those projects, it leads to others....and I've cleaned out her closet, her dresser, under her bed, and so on. It feels good to get it out of there! I lost 1 lb. last week, although two days ago it was 2 lbs, so WTF? It's mysterious, sometimes, huh? Yes, I did have some ice cream, and I agree with ya'll. When I try to deny myself a particular food, it makes me want it soooooo much! The Lent thing worked fine, but then I was doing it for a more spiritual reason, I guess. My personal goal, beginning 8/8/06: (don't laugh!) 15 minutes of physical activity that isn't regular stuff. On purpose exercise of some kind. Every day. Eileen, are you keeping a list? Are we just reporting in each day how we did? Darcy, I'm craving a peppermint mocha sooo bad. The nearest Starbucks is 15 miles away, so tough for me. Hope you enjoyed your sis. I'm gonna go read some posts, then go back into the DD's room and take advantage of her absence to straighten out her little world! LOL! Hugs, Cindy

My my my what a subject that we have touched on here. For some reason it makes no difference to me that I am heavy or if I were still skinny. I guess I am just a FREAK in the bed(been told that on several occassions) how can something so natural make one a freak? Have tried several things but have to admit never tried the splenda thing......thanks for the idea. I have been known to do the outside thing, under the waterfalls at a local reserve with falls was way too cool. Yeah I know TMI>>>LOL. Various positions (sideways in several sideway positions included) is always a great thing. Keeps it interesting and they (our men) never know what to expect next. Don't be ashamed of your size just do what comes naturally and FEELS OHHHHHHH SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!

VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am now 4 days out and struggling to get my water and protein in. I can’t handle the taste of the powdered protein, it makes me gag. I was able to get 40 oz of water yesterday but only half of a protein shake. Today I’ve had one protein shake and hope to have close to 60 ounces of water. Each day will get better, and I know I will feel so much better when I can have a premade shake on Monday. They don’t have the aftertaste like the powdered ones do. My doc really wants us to focus on water this week though, and says that we have enough of a store to last one week, if we can’t get the protein down this week. I’m just doing what I can at this point. Also, TMI, but I’ve had watery bowel movements yesterday and today. That has been less than pleasant. VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
scornet1 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my gastric bypass on 4/16 as well. My roughest obstacle has been the muscle stitch and trying to get out of bed or a deep chair. Coughing was agony! But today, 4/21 is much much better. I walked and walked and walked and I think that it helped me progress. I did not take any prescribed pain medication either. I am a recovering alcoholic (3yrs[emoji5]) and in rehab they caution against any addictive substances so I declined. I did take adult liquid Tylenol when I got home Wednesday night and Thursday through the day. Yesterday I walked through the pain and feel so great today I have not had any issues with getting liquids down, it just takes forever[emoji13]. I have had lots of (TMI ALERT) watery dark bowel movements. The Dr. office said to call if they look like tar. They don’t so I’m not worried about it. One last comment, I have experienced a huge change in my energy. I was always so tired every morning before I had surgery, and was expecting to be very tired while recovering. The opposite is true. I find that I have lots of energy! This is good and bad....... we are getting possession of another home we purchased tomorrow and there are sooooo many things that need to be done, and I cannot do any of it. I want to, and feel like I can, but I know I am asking for a surgery if I start lifting or moving. We had our procedures done on the same day and I will look for your posts to see how you are coming along and cheer on your successes. Good luck! My weight day before surgery was 245. I am 5’7. I am not going to weigh myself until Monday. 1 week out. I know I could get crazy watching the scale and a don’t want to get fixated on numbers. -
looking for buddies who had 200+ to lose
AtlantaRed replied to Rach8610's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm supposed to lose 170 to reach a "healthy" BMI. I started at 315. I was 309 when I started my 2 week preop and now I am 200 (anxiouslybawaiting the 199). Surgery date was 12/13/13. I am almost 9 months out and down 115. I've gone from a 26/28 down to a 14 so far. I chose to be very low carb. I don't like artificial sweeteners so I only drink Water. I still don't drink with meals. I've definitely had stalls but I just stay the course because it's a numbers game and if you're doing what you're supposed to, it has to work. I'm shooting for losing as much as I can in the first year since that window gets smaller and smaller every day. I don't eexercise a lot but I can move so much easier now, I'm out hiking a lot and doing tons of yard work. This will be TMI but usually my stalls will break once I have regular movements. I have issues with constipation. Miralax is great, but not in plain water. If you drink other SF things, take miralax daily. I'm 41 and 5'2 and have been overweight most of my life so the saggy skin is gross, but so worth it. -
One month since surgery, and first day of soft foods. For lunch, had an egg without issue. Dinner was hard - I tried some chicken and felt stuck in my throat. Sorry if tmi! Anyone able to share what's worked for them in transitioning to soft foods?
