    Old Ways Omg

I've given up the straw at work! Huge NSV for me as I work in a steammmmmy kitchen & we always have drinks nearby. I switched to a coffee lid instead of lid/straw. At home it's not an issue, but restaurants....well, I guess I won't be eating out much post-op anyway. 347*294/285/135 (*347HW/294SSW)

    NSV's

My latest NSV is that I am down to a size 18 from size 24. I am down 57 lbs since banding and 83 lbs from my post banding diet. Whoo Hoo. I am size 14/16 on top so I am almost in normal size there. Feels good.

    Trying on smaller sizes

Shopping in my closet was one of the great NSVs of the first six months! I was wearing a 24w when I had surgery and had some old items in my closet down to a 20. It was empowering to size down when what I was wearing no longer fit me. Now the days of shopping in my closet are over and I have an interim wardrobe.
  8. After getting out of the shower today, I noticed a normal bath towel fits all the way around me now! Not a beach towel, but a normal size bath towel! It covers all of me, that if need be, I could walk out of the bathroom with no worries! I am unsure of how long it has been in my life since one fit around me! Wow, it's the little things that make this journey so encouraging!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

    Goals/NSV's

Hi, everyone! Teresita was kind enough to invite me to this forum... my name is Dawn and I was banded 2 weeks ago, May 9th, in Mexico. I don't live in MD but I live in No. VA, right off the beltway and 95, so I'm close enough! So far I have lost 25 lbs - really 10 pre surgery (I had strep throat the week before surgery and only drank tea) and 15 since. I joined a yoga class tonight and have really been wanting to do more walking. I had my first NSV today, first off I was able to wear a size 18/20 Lane Bryant button p shirt today, something I haven't been able to do in 3 years... then when I went to work a co-worker of mine who I have not seen in a month stopped dead in her tracks when she saw me and said "OH MY GOD...how much weight have you lost? Your face looks so thin!"... I could have kissed her. I will be going to Connie's house on Sunday, so I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and making new friends...band sisters... Have a great rest of the week...Dawn

    Goals/NSV's

avilla are you trying to say, you had veggies this weekend? Non scale victory ha ha ha......a NSV is when you can fit into something that use to be to small. You can breath when you go up the stairs now. You drank all your water for the day. We have to remember the little things mean a lot and they all add up to the big ta dahhhhhh.

    lost a clothing size woohoo

That's awesome, ladies!!!! How fun! I've not been banded yet, but have been trying to watch my carbs and increase my Protein in the last week. I put on a pair of jeans yesterday and the bottoms came lower past my ankles down on my feet (like they're supposed to)... that was thrilling! I showed my hubby and he was happy for me. I can't wait for all of the NSV's!!! I just realized that all of my holiday tops that I love, this will be the last year I get to wear them, how fun! Then the new clothes shopping will begin. Someday, I'll be able to shop in a regular store. Woohoo!!

    My new NSV is I am in a size 18/20. Whoohoo:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  22. I weighed myself at the doctor this morning & was so THRILLED!!!! It said I weighed 208 which means I have hit my first goal of 50 lbs!! (My home scale said 211, but I am definately going to take the doctors scale over mine!!!) Yesterday I went shopping & could hardly believe that I could fit into a size 16 pants. I've worn 22/24 for so long! Here's what I've learned so far: 1) You will hit LOTS of plateaus. I stayed at the same weight for 2-3 weeks many, many times & then all of a sudden I'd drop 4 or 5 lbs. Don't get frustrated at the scale. 2) Exercise really does work. I joined a gym only because I knew it was the right thing to do. I hated going & was emberassed to be seen among all the muscle men. I could barely walk on the treadmill for 5 min. without feeling like I was going to pass out. BUT....I made myself go & it's been very, very worth it. I'm now a regular & 2 days ago one of the buff women came up to me & said - "I've been watching you the past few months & you've really inspired me. Keep up the great work." Wow! I inspired HER!! That was a big NSV to me. 3) You really do need to follow the bandster rules. THEY WORK!! I had moments of just wanting to do my own thing. But, whenever I went back to taking small bites, chewing my food A LOT, & not drinking after meals I lost more weight!! 4) Patience is important. It took me a while to get this weight on & it's going to take me a while to get it off. I'm not only losing weight, I'm changing a life time of bad behaviors & that doesn't change overnight. 5) DRINK YOUR WATER!! I have never been a good consistent Water drinker until recently. But, I can tell a difference!! I realized that sometimes when I THOUGHT I was hungry, I was really just thirsty. 6) It's okay to eat junk once in awhile. You can't deprive yourself forever!! Friday evening is my free night & I let myself choose something fattening & sugary to eat. ONLY ONE ITEM. I eat it & it's gone. I've never gained any weight from doing this & I am satisfied. If I am tempted to eat junk during the week, I tell myself - "You can have that on Friday! I don't like to be told NO. If I know it's something I can't have, I want it more. Knowing I can have it on Friday makes it so much easier. Which reminds me, today is Friday!! WAHOO!!!! Thank you to everyone on here for all the great support & good information. I learn a lot from you all & consider you my friends! I can't wait to reach my next goal!!

  24. Howdy all! I got my 2nd fill on Friday- 1.8cc- total of 5.8cc. for the first 2 days, I'm thinkin', well crap, that didn't work, then, all of a sudden, day 3, badabing badaboom- houston, we have restriction!! This is what it's really supposed to be like! I am so totally stoked! am able to just have what I'm supposed to, and it lasts for hours! I have more energy, and, and, and, wow!! I've already lost 3 pounds- on my way to my turkey take off goal of 20! yay me! also a couple of NSV's- my cute hubby and I were snugglin one am and I had to have him move his leg cuz it was hurting my hip bone-- what? hip BONE? I have one of those? it was very cool. Then that night playing kick the can with the kids in the backyard and I WON!! yep, cought the kids and almost can outrun them! woohoo! I haven't felt this great in a long time - is it obvious? don't know what I'd do without this forum- you guys are great!! have a great day!

May 2006 Band Crew ~ September Chat

Drews -- you look great! And younger! Isn't that amazing? Keep up the good work. I got home this morning (just finished a set of nightshifts) and I have a message on the phone from the surgeon's office. "Hi Marci, we need to change you appointment on the 21st....." Instantly, I was pissed. I thought this was going to be the second time they cancelled on me! It's hard enough to get time off for fills since I have to travel such a long way for them, but for them to keep cancelling........Argh! Well, then I finished listening to the message and they just needed to move me up to 1:00 instead 2:30. Whew! I calmed down a bit after that. Got all upset for nothing. I'm stuck again......I swear, I am so ready for that fill so I start my steady losing again. Lose 3 lbs, stay the same for forever. Very discouraging. But I keep telling myself to hang in there! Drews -- I hope your husband gets well soon. That way you can both enjoy a happy life together. Linda -- Doesn't it feel great when you can fit into clothes you know that just a few months ago there would have been NO WAY you could have gotten into them. I know that feeling about loose clothes.....you hide behind them and hide from yourself in them. But now.....you go girl! And wear those jeans with pride. Marz -- that's a great NSV. And a fun one too. Now you'll have to hit the amusement parks more often. Healthy1st -- I know I'm not going to make my 20 lbs either. But I'll take the 15 I have lost. Those are pounds I will never see again. Ever. And what you have lost is gone for good. Yeah for us both. I am going to take pictures next weekend when I go with my husband to a Cult function. That way I can be dressed up. After meeting all day Friday there is a Steak and pancake dinner (no pancakes for me! I'll puke!) Then Saturday there is a semi-formal dinner and dance. I really hate his Cult functions, I really have nothing in common with the other wives there. The men call them "little women" which really makes me want to puke. The first one that asks my husband to introduce "the little woman" I'm going to punch right in the face. I realize this is an organization that has been around literally for centuries, but I don't like to be talked down to. Especially since in real life I probably make more money and have more responsibility than 90% of those men. Funny how losing a bit of weight has made me more assertive. LOL!
