    Having one of 'those' days

I agree with the post above and the great thing about this forum is we have been there and understand. I'm only 2 months banded and I still have that worry despite my loss and NSV. I'm so afraid I will fail at this but I stay within my dietary guidelines and try and exercise 4-6 a week. When I have the o crap moments I log on here and just read and read ... We are here for you I am here for you. It's a new journey which is very scary ... But I believe will be worth it.

    NSV for me... I think

So, this morning I grabbed an almond croissant with the full intention of eating half of it. (TMI: I am seriously PMSing and was craving stuff (not to mention I was also really hungry).) I went back to my desk and stared at the delicious pastry; then, I proceeded to wrap it in a napkin, squish it, then throw it in the trash. Yay for me!

    Having one of 'those' days

All that you wrote in your post is normal, and I can write that I also had that same post op discussion with myself. The weight loss journey with your band does require your participation with diet, lifestyle compliance, and understanding that your band is only a very useful and self empowering tool for weight loss. You will be successful if you are motivated and committed to change your relationship with food and your lifestyle to eat to live and not live to eat. Fear of failure is common, but if you chose to follow the instructions you were given by your surgeon, you will be successful. As you travel this journey there will be "NSV's" along the way that will affirm your progress and strengthen your resolve for success. This forum has many members who have been successful and will be supportive of your efforts to succeed. Believe in yourself...you can and will do this...if YOU want to! Best wishes for a successful journey...

    I hate fake people!

Sorry to hear about your friend's fire. As for your co-workers, they are co-workers, not friends. People are with their co-workers more than anyone else in their life yet they don't understand the bonding sometimes. Very sad for them. Meanwhile, raising money for the fire victim was great and must have made you feel wonderful. NSV!
  5. Congrats!! I couldnt imagine wearing my daughters clothes, that had to really feel great. My 16 year old, on the other hand is a size 3, so the chance of that happening for me is pretty slim. (pun intended) Hey- but you never know, anything is possible Enjoy your NSV!!

    Major NSV

So.....I am at a waterpark with my kids and for the first time in my adult life I can fit inside the intertubes and enjoy the rides. I have never been able to squeeze my boobs in them before. This is a huge deal for me and I am having a great time!!!
  7. I'm a newbie. What is "NSV"? And what is the "green zone"?

    NSV - skinny bra straps

I know this sounds totally totally shallow and stupid, but the other day I was just overjoyed that when my bra strap peeked out, it looked cute not embarrasing. I like that the size I wear now has normal straps, not the extra wide, extra gel, extra support, extra non slip models...LOL

    How different do you feel?

I started my weight loss journey October 1, 2010 when a doctor told be he'd be at my funeral within 2 years if I did not change. I than lost 176 pounds in just under 2 years, than I sat at the same weight for nearly a year and than decided to get banded. I use to wear a 7X only could special order clothing. 3 years ago I had a home health care worker I was in such bad shape, I couldn't even do my own house work! Now I do it all! Wear a size 14, and have lost nearly 200 pounds. I was banded July 24th this year and there is no looking back for me. No regrets here at all! Some ow the NSV's of weight loss are, before the loss I went to the zoo with my family and had to sit down every 15-20 feet, I got in and they had to take me out in a shuttle! My boy friend took me to the zoo and we ran all over for 8 hours and I never stat down once! I have been able to walk for miles just enjoying a fantastic day with him. He is 16 years younger than I am and I never could have kept up with him before. Life is fantastic and just keeps getting better! I never thought 58 would be so darn good! Best wishes to you!!

BIG exercise NSV and breaking the mental barrier :)

Good for you and your NSV!! I love your father's quote. I hope you don't mind but I am going to use it, too. Keep up the super work you're doing.
  12. Although the scale has remained the same for a weeks.... This is a message I sent to all 400+ of my FB 'friends' but thought it would an even better post here. . For those of you who have noticed, I have been more active lately. I never wanted to pick up running because I didn't want to be slow or last and that fear has always held me back. Well I just ran a 5k and my oldest biggest fear was just about to happen. I was almost last, but instead of walking, giving up or beating myself up I just kept going!! And you know what the pit in my stomach went away and I finished with me head held high!! Life is all about challenges. We are only judged on how we react to them. Thanks for my family and friends who have been so supportive of me while I get my health on track. I really do love you all!!! And as everyone knows I do always have to add some sarcasm . As I rounded the 1/2 way mark and thoughts of the old me were rearing their ugly heads I heard my dad with more of his nonsensical 'logic'.... You know what they call the person that graduates last in their class in medical school..... Doctor Thanks for the words of wisdom dad they came in handy when I needed it most!! NEVER EVER give up AND I was much faster than last year when I was sitting on my couch

    July sleevers please check in..

Hi July 2013 Sleevers! Congratulations to everyone... I know there are obviously still ups and downs in this process for all of us and it's so good to be supported and understood and find encouragement here! I was sleeved July 12, 2013. My start weight was 296. I lost 10 lbs on pre-op and I've lost 31 since my surgery five weeks ago - Total of 41 lbs. I realized that the pre-op diet and post-op clear and full liquids diet are what jump-started the weight loss for me. The scale is moving slowly now, but still down - woo hoo!!! We're now in the middle of moving to a new house and I've packed my scales away. No more weighing until we're set up in the new house next week. My NSV's keep motivating me too! 1. No more CPAP since 3 weeks post-op! 2. People notice! - my daughter says it's so much easier to hug me close! (She's 14 - and loves to hug me... does a mother good!) 3. My feet (heels mostly) don't hurt much at all anymore! 4. I've taken up 4 notches on my belt! 5. I don't look 8 months pregnant anymore... maybe just 3... lol. 6. My energy level is picking up nicely! 7. So much less overall muscle and joint pain! Things are not always great since having surgery, of course.... I've had a few "issues" now and then with nausea, eating one too many bites (uugghh!), real hunger that lasts for two or three days straight, itching all over, and occasional dizziness. Thankfully these things pass - or at least I refuse to dwell on them too long - my supportive family helps to remind me of the positives when I get "moody" around them... lol. I'm grateful for my sleeve and determined to meet my goals! My two oldest children are getting married next year and I want to be able to rock those Mother of the Groom (In May 2014) and Mother of the Bride (September 2014) dresses and make them proud! I'm wanting to get to 170 by May (9 months from now and 85 lbs... I think it's possible) and down to my goal weight of 150 by September (20 more lbs in four months). That would be meeting my goal weight in 14 months from surgery. From 296 starting out to 150 - total loss of 146 lbs.... Like being "half the woman" I was..lol... whew!!! It's not going to be the easiest journey but my sleeve is the best tool for the job!

    Hand me downs...from my daughter!

I understand how you want her to lose too. My girls would freak if I was suddenly smaller than them, but it's likely to happen unless they keep up with the boot camp I bought them. But.... congrats on that NSV!!! It's awesome to be better than we've been in years.
  18. Today is my 13th wedding anniversary and I went out to dinner with my hubby. I wore a new dress size 1x (down from 4x), wore my wedding rings (only recently fit me) and had a lovely time with my man who said I look 10 years younger! What a happy day. I was sleeved 6/25 and am down 40 lbs from surgery and a total of 85 since January. Lovin life! Just in case you wondered I ordered shrimp cocktail and had a few bites of my husbands filet mignon, delish!
  19. Thank you Cheri. You seem to know what to say and when to say it. Totally agree. I wish everyone a NSV this coming week.
  20. My VGS was done 5/09/2012, I have maintained my goal weight since April. I workout with weights and trainer 3 days a week along with a 30 minute cardio workout on stationary bike doing the mountain riding programs all out. I do Water aerobics, swim laps 2-3 days a week. Lets just say I'm very active. To the point I don't even consider exercise as exercise, but just fun!! To the point....we did a body fat analysis today at the gym and I went from 41% to 28% in the last 6 months!!!!
  21. Your friend sounds wonderful, Aussiegirl. NSV? Does anyone in Brisbane have a recommended jeweler/goldsmith you can recommend to resize my wedding and engagement rings? I am in real danger of losing them off my finger. I don't feel I can trust just anyone, because you do hear stories of diamonds being switched etc. I will probably end up needing them resized at least once more during this journey. For now, I have switched to wearing them on the other hand, which feels really weird. It's strange how wearing rings makes your finger shrink, isn't it?

    Let's Start Here!!

My name is Stephanie and I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I love my job and bringing babies into the world. I have 2 kids, 13 and 17 and an awesome husband. I'm getting banded in December 2013 and I'm so excited. Yesterday at the waterpark with the kids I had my first NSV and I haven't even got the band yet! I was sitting there thinking "this is the last summer I will wear a SWIM DRESS!!!" I may never wear a bikini and I don't even care about, even though I do rock the swim dress!! LOL! I've already done so much research I could probably do the surgery and open my own clinic. Sometimes it doesn't help being a nurse !
  23. I fractured my ankle and foot last night, but they put me in a standard size wheelchair instead of the super wide ones and I fit! With room to spare!
  24. Went to the waterpark with my daughter & Grandkids & had a Blast!! It felt great to actually feel confident in a swimsuit in public, not worry that I was the largest person there & everyone was staring at me....& best of all...to be able to do the water slides without worrying about the weight limit!! I LOVE my sleeve!! :-D
