How long did it take you to have a bowel movement after your RNY? I hear it can take up to 7 days to have one…not liking that idea so I’ve been taking miralax daily so far. How long for you? Did you need something to help get it going? 😜

Hello... This is kind of embarressing but I must know the answer to this... My bf and I of 5 years have an EXTREMELY healthy sex life - which usually always tends to get rough.... I have read the other posts saying after healing time, u can pretty much go back to having whatever kind of sex you were having before without any issues.... well here is my question.... we tend to get rough with oral sex as well which can cause gagging.... (sorry TMI) ... will this hurt the band or cause it to slip? This is pretty much an everyday thing for us... so it wouldnt be like its occasionally so i really have to take it into consideration. Ive read other posts about food causing people to throw up so I was assuming if other things tended to make you gag I would be ok... but i just wanted to see if anyone else could help me out.... Thanks!! surely im not the only girl who experiences this????? lol

hey all, DH and Nelson can't come. Nelson still has a runny nose and DH has a low grade fever and scratchy throat and cough. Just not worth exposing Dad to the crud. My return to FL is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Tomorrow is the surgeon consult for the port. If he can do it Friday, then I will reschedule my flight for Sat. Today we took dad back to the primary dr for labs. He gained 4 lbs in 4 days and want to make sure his Creat is not creeping back up. They will be back in the a.m. . Hopefully it is just the increased eating. He is on Megace for appetite stimulant. It's made from the urine of pregnant women! I told him he is eating for two. I made him creme caramel yesterday and he has had 3 pieces. I have a leg of lamb in the oven now. I tried to make low sugar blueberry muffins (recipe had applesauce in it), what a disaster! They stayed wet and never rose. It has been fun giving mom a break from the kitchen. SIL and nephew are leaving on Sunday. The nephew was always scheduled to leave that day. SIL was supposed to be here 2 more weeks but has decided to go b/c of her prolapse/rectocele that occured during her trip here. (she had a hysterectomy in March) Boy, makes me think twice about the surgery! I think if I ever do it, I would have the robotic one where they keep the cervix in place. Besides all the regular stuff going on with running the house and caring for Nels, he has had to take her to the gyn every other day for pessary fittings! TMI, even when you are a doctor! Poor guy. When I called today I casually said "what are you doing?" and he replied sharply, "folding laundry!" (as if I accused him of watching tv all day!LOL) He is fed up to here (hand at forehead) and ready for me to come home I think. BUT... I am so proud of him and the great job he is doing. I think if nothing else he has a newfound appreciation for all that i do. As you guys said, I needed to be here. I couldn't have done it without him. I have some great pics of my dad. I have been snapping the camera every once in a while. Usually he complains, but he hasn't said a word. As if he knows I just need to. I dread saying goodbye when I leave. It's going to be a tearjerker for sure. I promise to get back to myself soon. I have been reading all your posts. From Janet's furlough to Apples boiled wook addiction..LOL. You guys make me smile. Thanks. peasout... Laura

Cheri..pain meds make me projectile puke (TMI). I have always had adverse reaction to them. I never fill scripts after surgery. I just tough it out. DH thinks I have extremely high tolerance for pain. Right now I would say there is no tolerance what-so-ever. I have thrown up many times from stones but since being banded, it's different. It's almost like my new stomach does not have the option to vomit. I just wreath and say a certain cuss word that even offends the dog. Thanks for sending hugs, Cheri Janet...got the sympathy and hugs....they arrived shortly after you sent them! Thanks.

I'm here to help...
ifyourstomachoffendsyou replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Eva, intimacy is great but orgasms are better. Think toys to help jumpstart your libido. Also, my DH is a guitar player and guitar players strum it better. LOL. TMI again, but a healthy sex life fits the Live, Love, and Laugh Yourself Thin motto. And guys, I'm not talking about speaking your mind when I say I put my foot in my mouth. Here's an example. My mom and dad were playing "Catchphrase" with us on Christmas. My dad just plain couldn't get how the game was played. My mother was terrible at giving clues because she can't think that fast anymore or get the words out. So they were both on my team and I said that the next round we shouldn't have them both on one team. The instant it came out of my mouth I knew I shouldn't have said it, and sure enough, my mom brought it up when I was with her the other day. She was hurt to be put in the same category as my father. I just don't think things through before they pop out of my mouth. That's the lack of having a filter. Someone might be showing off their diamond ring and I'll say that I don't really get diamonds. It puzzles me why they're so popular. I never notice them on people because most people can only afford small ones and unless you're in a jewelry store which is lit up specifically to highlight diamonds, they don't really shine. The big ones stick out so far they catch on everything and are constantly dirty (especially with my sweaty hands) so they don't really shine. Now, that's my taste, but not appropriate to mention when someone is showing off their huge diamond ring. So, now you can maybe see why I wish I could band my mouth. LOL. Cheri -
Not too many complaints in the DH dept. Even after he encouraged me to go yesterday morning, I struggled with the guilt of leaving him during such a busy time. When he got home last night, he insisted I book. Honeymoom at the lake this weekend!(TMI)

I know this is TMI, but we are all friends here, right? I'm 5 days post op. All I've had is SF Popsicles and water until yesterday I had some chicken broth. Holy cow! It went straight through me. Fast! Is this normal? Today I had beef broth. Same thing! Am I going to have to eat at home for a while? This is annoying!

TMI for those sensitive to racy topics... [emoji6] Still preop but so far my favorite NSV happened yesterday while being intimate with my husband. My stomach wasn't squishing him in one position and I was able to be way more flexible in another. Also, there was air/space between "us" that has never been there in recent years. A non racy NSV that I realized yesterday was that I was able to do 10 minutes of stairclimber workout without needing a break or being winded. It was so crazy amazing that I did it again at the end of my weight training!! HW: 328 (02/22/17) SW: TBD CW: 288 Pounds disowned to date: 40

Ok all I am sorry I am so late with these but I had a yard sale this weekend and have been SUPER busy. I have gotten up at 4:00 the last two days and been up late.. But we made over 800.00 so it was worth it. I am still up now because I talked my family into taking the kids so my hubby and I could have a date. (Yes, a real date) It was so fun, we went and saw taladaga nights and devil wears proda. Ohh they are both awsome movies. If you like funny movies taladaga nights will have you peeing in your pants.. (don't drink alot before going) Then we went to outback. He wanted that for his last super.. I ate about 10 french fries, 3 bites of potatoes, and one coconut shrimp. And I was satified. I did try a bite of his steak, but ended spitting it in the napkin after chewing for seemed like an eternity. I am down 22 as of this morning... My dh and me have had alot of moments if you ladies know what I mean. I mean we have always had a good sex life but he's has been complmenting me latly and seems to be a bit more frisky.. Is this TMI? Hope not.. LOL OKOKOK on with bingo!!!!!! 1st two words are "July" "Scared" Good luck all!!!

Karen - wonderful to hear how you are enjoying time with Eva and her husband. Would love to see her home. Bet that warm weather also feels wonderful. Sandy - I love Grand Cayman. Have been there many, many times - used to go two or three times a year and spent a month there (rented a house on 7 mile beach). Hurricane Ivan destroyed the island and when it rebuilt, some of the charm was gone forever. I miss the "old" Cayman. Sandy, I also share the experience (and Lori) of being raised by very cold, unemotional, unloving parents. However, since they were NEVER there for me, I don't feel the need to be there financially or in any way, now. We reap what we sow. I sound very mean - and in thinking about it, I spent 30 days in Psychiatric/gereatric unit with my Mom when she was suffering - so I guess I'm not as tuff as I think. My step-father (who was in my life since I was 6) is 87 and needs assistance. I'm NOT there for him. TMI - but it helps to know many of us can be survivors and change the future for our children and show them love. Please take care of yourself. I know there is a solution and your sister and husband - and maybe a social worker at PT - can help find it.

Weird s**t your body does (or "I know I ate too much, I need to sneeze.."
bigmamaAfrica replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Great post! I get a sensation like a need to burp but its painful adn doesn't calm down or go away until i get rid of whatever i have overeaten.. Sorry TMI! Lol I have started being able to tell when this will happen though (almost 2 months post-op now).. i also get that hot flush, rush sensation in my body as i am eating and that is when i know i am reaching the FULL mark! When i stop at this point i am normally fine. But. When i think i am smarter than my sleeve... weeellll... i normally have to leave the table immediately after that last bite.. -
I have a question: I am 4 days post op and my abdomen still feels really swollen...is this normal??? I went to TJ alone and had to handle my carryon through two airports on the way home, and it was definitely over 5 lbs. I know I overdid it, but what else could I have done? I have been dying of hunger, then I made the family a big roast with carrots and potatoes...no, I didn't eat any meat, but I did grab some of the broth and pureed a few potatoes and several carrots. I added a cup of beef broth to thin it and it was definitely a liquid. After only 1/2 cup, I felt better than I had all day! Saving the rest for tomorrow. I was eating jello and popsicles and chicken broth and it just wasn't gettin' it. I am amazed I feel so much better! My stomach is still very rumbly and dh can also hear the hunger pangs! No abdomen gas, but am getting some out the other direction! (tmi?---but feel so much better when I CAN!) Every once in a while I feel a 'wave' of my stomach---I don't really know what else to call it---but it is wierd and kind of hurts, but not much---just a really weird feeling---does anyone else have this???

Janet – I am doing and feeling great! My weight is holding steady – not losing but I haven’t gained either. That is a first for me, I have always been able to lose weight and then gained right back to where I started (and then some). I have been at 190 since Feb. I would like to get to 160 but, like I said, maintaining is something I have never been able to accomplish before. I credit all of the exercise I do now with being able to maintain. I just started exercising in April. I had never really exercised before. That’s why I initially hired a trainer – I was so pathetic, I did not know how to use any of the equipment at the gym and I (as a fat girl) was too embarrassed to ask. Now I keep the trainer for motivation. She keeps me honest and keeps me moving forward. She always has something new (and harder) for me to do. Heck, I press 40 pounds now. I have developed some real muscles. LauraK – WTG on the walking and yoga. Your upcoming girl’s weekend sounds fabulous. Have a great time. Apples – I too want to get PS but I would like to get a TT. They say you should wait until you reach goal and that is still 30 pounds away for me. I keep thinking maybe I should just give up and be happy with where I am at and get the TT. Then I think I should just kick myself and lose the last 30. I know exactly what you mean about it being uncomfortable. It isn’t too bad in the day because I always wear spanx but once I take the spandex off it has a mind of its own. It is very uncomfortable when I exercise (especially when doing sit-ups) and when I try to roll over at night. I don’t know about you but I have been having trouble with infections in my belly button. I guess moisture is getting trapped because the skin falls down over the “innie hole”. LOL-TMI. It does get quite painful though. All I can say to you is “go for it girl!”

*Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)
planetheather replied to Maccurdyerica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Maccurdyerica You are most welcome. After all the help this site has given me, I am happy to have had the chance to help someone else. I will add that in addition to strictly following the "sleeve" eating plan, I was lucky enough that I worked from home. This is probably TMI, but I spent the winter working in a sports bra and pair of shorts. About every hour, I would be freezing again and would run down to my exercise bike and do a few minutes to warm up. At first I could only do 5 minutes and I worked my way up to 10 minutes every hour. I'm sure that helped keep my metabolism up. Good luck! -
Linda, funny you should post that. I have signed up to run a 5k and I just finished my 3.2 miles on the treadmill. I am fixing to eat some edamame, and my scales said 198.0 this morning. I am celebrating a little differently this time!! BTW, this may be TMI, but I feel so attractive today...maybe even sexy. LOL DH is giving me "the look" again. Our 13th anniversary is Monday. I dare say it will be the best one in several years.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
kakatlady612 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am more than slightly egg intolerate, as an example I can tell you how many eggs are in an omelet etc by the amount of gastrointestinal pain. And the smelly loose stool in a few hours, I know I know TMI. Hey things a little snafu for me, I'm in Mansfield now but when I Get home I've got to call Columbus. Lets say my case went to the Bariatric Court of Appeals at my hospital. A prayer at this time would not be unwarranted. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app -
Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Week 1 Surgeon's Visit My surgeon was so pleased with my progress. She smiled/beamed the whole time!!! And she said I could start eggs today and by this weekend, I could begin adding anything that I can mash with a fork and very soft steamed veggies! Wahooooo!!!!! Thah crahps ah sayuved!!!! I told her I'd been dreaming of a perfect 6 minute soft boiled egg and avocado and poached fish. LOL. She laughed at that! She was taken aback at the extent of my bruising. She said it would all go away with time, but that it was a lot of bruising! And she wants to see me again next week. She ok'd me drinking 12-16oz of water per hour if I want, and loved the amount I was walking. And she said that I'm pretty textbook and right where they want me for weight loss. She was very excited about the lack of pain and about me not being on pain pills and stepping down on the gaba. So it's a great report! And then I did something dumb! LOL. We went out to breakfast to celebrate. And the place didn't do soft boiled eggs or poached eggs, so I asked for 1 egg fried over medium and for a side of avocado slices. I mashed the egg up really well and ate very slowly, chewing very well. (Oh and I blotted the crap outta it, cuz it was cooked in heaps of oil! Blech!) And I ate 3/4 of it. I reckon about 3tbsp total. I had about 1tbsp of avocado and gave the rest to Mr. F. And felt fine, a little burpy--but nbd. But dayum, by the time we were at the polling place to early vote, I was feeling very green and felt in need of a very quick potty break. Made it through voting and home, but by then I had the cold sweats. Came home and had a very "boisterous" visit to the throne that cleaned me out! LOL. Sorry for TMI. And then I laid down and napped. I woke with my pain below the sternum that radiates through to my back. Took some liquid tylenol. And rested for a couple of hours. Now I just had my lunch meal of peach and peanut butter blueberry yogurt soup. So we'll see if I have issues with that meal. I think it was maybe the grease at breakfast? Or the avocado? Or who knows, maybe it's the egg. I will try soft scrambled tonight and see. I don't want to go back on liquids. What was the first food you put down your pie hole post surgery? -
What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
Morgan Sorto replied to sunmeadow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The leak test was the WORST/most embarrassing experience of my entire life. My body did not like the liquid and this is TMI but I cried, puked, collapsed and other embarrassing stuff that I try to tune out. I will probably never forget that experience and I feel really bad for the x-ray techs. I went back to my room and cried and tried to forget that it had happened. I was still completely drugged by the anesthesia at this time as well but I distinctly remember this. -

Liz R replied to Shotputqueen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 days post op (sleeve) and had a tiny poop today. We're talking between the size of a regular M&M and a peanut M&M. Still a victory and not surprising, considering all I have had is liquid for 2 days pre-op and 3 days post. By the way, I've always been a regular pooper...hope that's not TMI!! -

I am not having any constant pain and I am 4 days out. And for the TMI section, thankful for loose stools!

Thank you so much for the kindness. I ended up speaking waaaaayyy too soon. The last 12+ hours have been miserable. I was discharged from the hospital last night and I’ve dry heaved/vomited three times. The first one I can explain away because I took my pain med on a practically empty stomach without protein (which I didn’t know I shouldn’t do until after the fact), but the other two there’s no rhyme or reason to them. I’m not even taking any medications because I keep getting nauseous / dry heaving — except for the nausea patch behind my ear (which clearly isn’t doing anything for me), Zofran, and the Prilosec. I know for a fact I’m not drinking near enough between my fear of vomiting and then the fact I am (TMI) spitting up bile and some of my liquid the last two dry heaves. Worried I’m gonna end up back in the hospital at this rate. Also sucks that I’m heaving because I can’t take any pain meds to ease my pain — though most of my pain is when I get up and down or bend more than anything
