Love crossing my legs 7. Can paint my own toes without suffering oxygen deprivation!!! 8. Comfortable in theatre seats 9. Holding my 3 year old son on my hip and feeling him wrap his legs around me... Wasn't possible with a big round belly, didn't have the "shelf" of my hip to sit on, if that makes since 10. I don't mind having my picture taken one bit 11. Renewed self confidence 12. Improved sleep 13. Sleep through the night without needing to get up to pee 14. Less aches and pains 15. Learning to jog 16. Working out at gym without feeling so self-conscious 17. Love the feeling of putting my self and my health first, knowing it will ultimately make me a better person, wife, and mother 18. Bedroom...bow chica wow wow;) lol 19. High heels don't hurt anymore! 20. I had to buy a cheapo fake wedding set since my real one is too big. I will have it sized when I reach my goal! I could go on and on but I will stop! Thanks for letting me share. This forum is a great place to share with others who understand and won't interpret this list as arrogant! I thank God everyday for the lapband and the opportunity to have the surgery. I hope this post will encourage others to push through the difficult days of the journey!

  6. Well I have quite a few but my most recent one is when I was getting ready for work I wanted to wear these Forever 21 jeans I bought while living in Europe . It's been a year since I have been able to wear them . Well I put on my spanx and was ready to huff and puff to zip them up. Lo and behold , they slid right up and was falling down by mid morning . I tried another pair from Forever 21 and lets just say I needed a belt bad - Size 18. 2 months ago I was in a tight 24/26, now a size 18 is too big . Wow ! Had my surgery July 5 th . Pre Op: 319 Day of surgery : 306 Curr: 272 Loss: 47 lbs

    Fat girl googles

Hi there I went from a 24 to a 12 a few years ago (and gained it back plus a lot more...) but anyway. I had those same feelings when I lost weight the first time around but keep pictures of yourself before you lost the weight as a reminder. Another suggestion is to get wrist/ankle/body weights that people work out in and put on the amount you lost and try to walk around (do have someone with you when you do this, get a doctor's approval as well and make sure you a physical fit to do it!) but this will remind yourself how it feels to carry that extra weight. I wish I did that. Now I look at my old pictures and I just would do anything to go back to that size! Hopefully I will soon though, come on sleeve. lol Good luck on your journey and keep accomplishing goals - even NSV. Appreciate your victories, treat yourself to a new hair style or a massage and make sure you feel good about yourself. You will see it one day.
  8. I notice the difference a lot. I normally smile and ignore it. I put it into my NSV victory folder!

    NSVs!

My NSV of today is being able to comfortably sit in those horrid wire patio chairs that restaurants have! Haven't sat in one of these without being squashed into it with my butt bulging out & the blood flow to my thighs being cut off in forever!! Now I have room to spare!! Fellow Sleevers - what are your NSVs?

    NSV

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share....... I went thru my closet today and found and old pair of jeans size 12. I was beyond excited that they even went over my butt, when I could actually button and zipper them and they fit I couldn't believe it!!!! I was so friggin excited!!!!!! I even sat in them and it didn't feel like the button was gonna pop off and ricochet off the walls or like I was squeezing myself to death lol. needless to say it was a good day :-)

WHAT?? 4) being able to cross my legs 5) wait, I have ribs, collar bone and hip bones? 6) sitting on the couch with my knees drawn up to my chin (HAHA!!) VICTORY IS MINE!!

    Sad NSV

I know my local salvation army has a half price day once a week, and ALL clothing is half price. I have found some really cute things there for just a few dollars. My daughter got a beautiful formal dress for her 6th grade dance last summer for less than $10, and it was new with tags, and priced at nearly $200. We also have a local domestic violence shelter that has a thrift store, all clothing is $1, and some weeks it's only $.50. I bought 10 pair of Ambercrombie, and American Eagle jeans there in sizes 8/10 for this winter. I'm already down to a 12, and the 8/10 is my final goal. So for $5 I was able to get a nice little start to my winter clothes. Oh and I also bought some shirts in a med, thinking they would be great for when I get to goal, and guess what? I'm wearing one of those med shirts today. I thought for sure I would have to be at least another 15 or so pounds down before they fit, and they are already fitting and looking great on me. When I tried it on, just to see how far I needed to go to wear it, I started crying. My husband was soooo confused that I was crying because it fit. He thought I was crying because it didn't fit. LOL then he saw it and was amazed. He tells me all the time how great I look, but sometimes it takes something like an NSV to make me realize how far I've come. I saw my reflection in a store window and didn't recognize myself at first, it was crazy.

    6 month follow-up appointment

I've got a NSV for you Joe ... You probably look much better in that Cooper than you did six months ago ....
  16. These past years i've been avoiding vacations.. and plane rides.. they are what nightmares are made of for me.. now.. I'm 7.5 months out and half way there to my goal weight.. and I'm hopping onto a plane to SFO tonight for the long weekend.. and hopefully.. this time i'll not be spilling over my fellow traveller's seat.. and the NSV part.. i was packing my bag last night.. and usually.. I would not know what to pack.. well.. it is not easy to find.. weather appropriate, good fitting and cute clothes.. and fit them in one bag! Yesterday.. I did not know what to pack.. there were so many options.. I packed a weeks worth of clothes.. and there's still some space left in my bag.. guess my clothes have been losing some weight too..

    Sad NSV

My favorite pair of sliver jeans are too big. I got a 31 about two months ago and now even with a belt they are falling down. It doesn't help that I have no hips or butt. But I love these jeans... Guess I'll have to wait a while before I get new ones. :-(
  18. So these past few days I feel I have posted negative things about my surgery. I know I was just looking for relief and some answers. Update: Picc line was put in for added nutrition, not as bad as I thought it would be. I have officially lost 39 lbs in my journey. Im out of the 300's and into 200s. Nsv: I dont have to wear bra extended anymore. My shoes are too big and I can see my own feet when I look down.
  19. nsv for me today. I fit into one of my favorite t-shirts from college. It was my sublime t-shirt...it has holes in it, but I don't effin care. It was my favorite. And I fit it and wore it to the gym today.

    NSV: Clothing Sizes

Love NSVs like this! Great job!
  21. Questions like this are red lights to whether or not you should have the surgery at this time - not ever, but you need to be really aware of what is going on. I see posts like this often (I have been here since November of 2011) and I know you are going to get responses – may have already got them in the time it takes me to type this – that it varies, maybe, if you exercise enough. Honestly, truthfully, if you are over 100 lbs overweight and hope to reach within 10% of your goal and stay there, the answer is that you cannot get away with the unhealthy foods, you cannot regress to the breads and fats and drippy gooey things that got you here in the first place. This surgery was NEVER about you losing weight, and somehow like it was an old war wound you forget about it in time, you maybe kinda get a limp that you compensate for but it is nearly automatic x amount of years or months out. It doesn’t work that way. You are putting your body through profound biological and physical changes and you were probably really heavy for a long time, possibly very ill, too. You are losing weight but you are really tampering with your metabolism. We (I shift from second p. to first p. singular because this includes us all) – we will not succeed unless we learn that this is not a cure-all, not by far, it is a really long road. We deal with our bodies, our heads, our memories, other people, and when we are taking a respite from that we deal with the current, back to the day to day, and then, we still have the future. It’s scary, and makes us hesitate, and sometimes really overwhelms. THEN we notice changes, less meds, less pain, more activity, clearer minds, deeper breaths, we have added years to our lives, playtime with pets and kids and family and even new friends. Maybe our pants fall down to our ankles, maybe we run up a flight of stairs AND down the hall before we realize we are not out of breath. The NSV’s everyone mentions here – let those be your guide to whether or not the cheese’s and fats and breads really matter. If they are still in your thoughts, think this through some more – get with your therapist and explore some more discussion and evaluation BEFORE surgery. Note I did not say don’t do it. Just be prepared that you literally are going to get what you put in.
  22. I'm happy to say that the clothes I've had in my closet that I couldnt' imagine wearing again are now too big for me! They fit perfectly 2 years ago during my phentermine weight loss days and slowly ended up becoming too small as I gradually packed the pounds back on once the pill became ineffective. Today, I am wearing a pair of jeans that use to fit like a glove a couple of years ago and they are hanging off of me.
  23. I finally took my measurements last night to gauge my non-scale success and I'm happy to say that I've lost nearly as many inches as I have pounds! Since July 19, 2013 I've lost 38.75 inches - 10 from my waist alone! Ain't the band grand?
  24. How exciting! That is most certainly a wonderful NSV
  25. Yup. Lost 'em. Not once, but twice during kickboxing today. The first time I was scooting backwards across the floor on my butt. I went back, my pants didn't. The second time, I was concentrating on my punching form so hard, I didn't even notice my pants were around my mid thighs. Ooooops! I am quit certain my martial arts instructor will never let this one go. I can't even kick his arse! Lesson learned. Always wear pretty underwear.
