I was so happy this morning when I weighed. My first goal since I got banded between me and hubby was to weigh less than him. As I got closer he said he was going to start watching what he ate so he would lose and I couldnt catch up with him lol. Well this morning I am .4kg less than him woooooooohoooooooo, shoulda seen me jumping up and down screaming. He mentioned that my clothes were lighter and he had things in his pocket lmaooooo. He was kidding and congratulated me and bought me a bunch of flowers home this arvo. Weeeeeeeeeee just wanted to share!!! Onto double figures!

But oh so funny. I was walking down the main street of town yesterday lunchtime on my way back to the office and suddenly started to feel awkward. I thought my skirt had twisted but as I reached down I grabbed it just before it fell past my knees. One second more it would have been around my ankles! A ducked into a shop where the salesperson helped me out with a safety pin and a lot of laughter! Sent from my iPad using VST

Revision... distillization of rny

It has been a bit traumatic, very angry with my original surgeon, but I am proud of the progress. The nsv's have been great! Was able to touch my toes today lol! -
Grocery shopping with my kids is never a pleasant experience. After picking my 13 year old son up from an event yesterday I was forced to take him with me to pick some things up for a party we were having last night. Rather than making deserts, I decided last minute to pick up a variety of things from the bakery section of the grocery store. Everything looked wonderful and I jokingly said to my son "it's never a good idea to let me run loose in the bakery while I'm on a diet". My son replied "Uh, mom, you don't need to be on a diet anymore and should be able to eat this if you want to. Just saying..." I have always felt bad that I was overweight when all the friends moms looked like supermodels. Hearing my son say I shouldn't be on a "diet" anymore was priceless! Lisa

Goal weight vs happy weight
joatsaint replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't really have to do much exercise wise to lose the 1st 100lbs. The only exercise I've done is walking. I had a lot of foot pain before surgery. I started out walking from the farthest parking spot to my office front door, with the goal to walk 10k steps a day. It was in the 2nd month post-op that I really tried to start walking as exercise. Here's my blog post I keep to track my progress: http://www.bariatricpal.com/blog/9018/entry-31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/ -
I agree with plain. The one day at a time is a very important concept. I too have gone through extended period where I did not lose weight. I have grown to live with the fact that this is an extended process. Even when I am not losing weight there is a NSV that pops up and keeps me going. My most recent NSV is getting into size 36 pants for the first time in 25 years.

Good morning everyone! I thought it may be nice for us to share in our successes off the scale - as undoubtedly there will be times when it doesn't move as fast as we would like - to keep us motivated and realize the beauty in the small stuff... While the scale is still moving because I am newly banded; there are NSV's I am already noticing: - my watch is fitting looser and doesnt leave an impression in my wrist - I don't have to suck nearly as much in to button some of my formerly tight fitting size 22 dress pants - one pair of snugger fitting dress shoes are now sliding on my heel - EA Active leg band now doesnt pop off when I do squats or run Let's start sharing as we go....and I think it will be alot of fun to look back and see these victories as they happen and when! I'm so excited for all of us!!

Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!
emily_0192010 replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!!! I think those are the best type of NSV's because they show how our day-to-day lives change after the weight loss. It's the little things that we deal with that were so challenging before. Its wonderful to realize you accomplished something that you couldn't before. As for the shoes... my shoe size dropped! I lost in width and technically length. I don't think my feet are actually shorter, but rather I was wearing them too long before instead of going up in width. I think many people who have "wide" feet actually have double or triple wide feet, and instead of going through the process of getting fitted properly and trying on dozens of shoes in the "correct" size and none of them ever fitting... we just go up a size in length to make up the difference. At least that's what I think happened with me. -
I Reached My Next Goal!
kimmy*custis replied to kimmy*custis's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was just told nsv means non-scale victory...I thought it meant new sleeve victory...sorry about that! Either way, it is a victory for me! I changed the post a bit! -
Dave, I know how that is. I am one size from my goal too. Congrats on the NSV.

Many on BP have said 30 days post-op, they were released to light weighted exercises. I too was okayed at 30 days for weight training. I never really got into a regular weight training program. I've stuck to walking as my primary exercise program. http://www.bariatricpal.com/blogs/entry/31216-nsv-2-you-best-step-off-b-hatch/ Get my free eBook - The Top 10 WLS Fears and How to Kick Their Butt!

Pre-Op NSV: Resisting Temptation at Disneyland!
stacechase posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had to share the MAJOR pre-op NSV I accomplished this weekend! For the record, I'm having my surgery in exactly 2 weeks (8/19) and am starting my full liquid pre-op diet tomorrow. About a week and a half ago I watched a great food documentary (it's call "Hungry for Change" and is available on Netflix streaming, highly recommended!) and something just clicked. I decided to change everything, right then. I put on my shoes and went for a several-mile walk that night after watching it, and have been dedicated to eating healthy, no snacking, lots of Water & Protein, and daily exercise. Even bought a juicer and am making fresh green juice in the morning for myself for breakfast! Fast forward to this past weekend: I had planned a trip to Disneyland several months back as a "last hurrah" before surgery. Disneyland is my most favorite place ever. I go about every other month. Of course, one of the things I love most about the park is the FOOD. I would plan my whole vacation around what I "had" to eat. I am a huge sugar fanatic, so usually this was churros, ice cream, candy, etc...although my meal choices were also decidedly unhealthy. I was EXTREMELY anxious about this trip because I had committed to my lifestyle change and this was like going into the belly of the beast! I met with my therapist before my trip and we created a mantra for me whenever I was feeling anxious at the park: "Disneyland is still fun without food." Anyway, here I am, sitting in the airport ready to fly home—and I am so proud to say that I didn't have so much as a SINGLE BITE of sweets or treats this WHOLE trip!! I brought Protein Bars & shakes with me and treated myself to one healthy meal in the parks per day (had some pretty amazing salads!) I didn't snack at all in between and drank lots of water. I am really proud of myself, and this was not easy by any means! However, it was all worth it knowing that I have given myself the confidence to enter into the pre-op diet...if I can survive without any cheating at my favorite place, I know that I have no excuse to cheat while at home. Just wanted to share, and for all of my fellow pre-ops, I promise you that if you start developing these kinds of healthy habits & challenging yourself to make permanent changes before surgery, it will be a tremendous confidence booster and constant reminder that YOU CAN DO THIS! Have a great day, everyone! -
Woohoo!! I'm so happy for you!! What a great NSV

I noticed a few NSVs last night/this morning, and I'm just so happy I had to share. So, here they are. 1) I had to tighten the strap on the mask for my CPAP 2) I've noticed that I've started taking better care of myself and have generally been feeling happier 3 (and my favorite)) Today as I was leaving for work, my husband hugs me and said, "You've lost so much weight, I can hug you more completely". Guys. He can finally get his arms the whole way around me. I have been smiling about this all day.

Me3 replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Still kicking.. Fill stats are below. I'm at 4 cc's and have restriction... am struggling as always with food but thats a demon we all have to battle constantly. I'm working on getting my tail into the gym and start an organized exercize schedule, but that too is a struggle for me. Anything worth doing though is always a struggle and worth it in the end. NSV was that I squeezed into a size 14 dress! Not ready yet to wear it in public but Im hoping so by the end of August! Hugs, Heather -

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
blahblahblah replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
OMG...I cannot cannot cannot WAIT for this NSV...I have always been comfortable Indian style (I don't think it's called that anymore...ooops.)...but I want to cross my legs like a lady...I might start wearing skirts again...I never do because my legs stay open while seated... I hadn't even thought of this as a bonus...Something to look forward to. Right now I am 6ft tall and 285...so I don't know if it will happen any time soon...but I hope so! Rain -
Your Progess-Feel Like I Should've Lost More At This Poing
mommykristie replied to kariew28's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think we all go through periods of feeling like it is not coming off as quickly as we would like. However, the important thing is that the weight is coming off. I was banded on 3/15/2012 and have lost 47, but that is 47 that I would not have lost without the help of my band. I have had tons of NSVs to make up for the scale not moving as quickly as I would like. More importantly, I am exercising and eating better, which is something I wasn't doing before. The clothing sizes dropping are the biggest thrill! When I first met with my wls doctor, I told him it wasn't about how many pounds that I wanted to lose, but I wanted to be healthier and be in "normal" clothing sizes. I have made both of those goals, so although I may have a lot of pounds to go, I know that I have been successful at my own pace. Try not to compare yourself to other's weight loss. It is an individual journey, we all have different lifestyles, body frames, stress levels, and hereditary factors that will affect how quickly we lose. In addition, depending on how much you have to lose also makes an impact on the speed of loss. Any weight loss is better than none! Go see if you can pick up 3 ten pound bags of dog food or 33 bags of sugar. It gives you a different perspective
