    Greek yogurt

The mix was a store brand I had used in the past, and made with only 1 cup, so I got that right. I wonder if my yogurt is more intense than Chobani. I used Trader Joe's Greek Yogurt, Non-fat, Plain. It has a few less calories and a little less protein, I can't imagine they would taste that different though. Or maybe it was the mix ...

    Greek yogurt

Also, are you using the "dip" mix from hidden valley? make sure you only use 16 oz of yogurt per packet.

    Greek yogurt

Ash, do you just use straight greek yogurt and dip mix? I tried it based on your suggestion on another thread. It was a bit too intensely yogurt-y for me. Any tips?
  4. I'm not saying I ate nothing, I'm saying I was prepared to eat my allowed foods and not being able to eat party food didn't bother me at all. I wasn't craving it or wanting it at all. My yogurt did it for me.

    Greek yogurt

I recommend Dnnon 80 calorie greek yogurt. It's less tart than Chobani and fage. Lots of flavors. I personally like the lime and cherry.

    Water/Liquid Intake

It's just that at 2 months out you should be getting your full protein amount. 2 yogurts isn't enough. It doesn't have to be all from foods. If you don't give your body enough protein, it will start breaking down your muscle. Your body is starving. Are you using shakes or protein water or anything? If your body goes into starvation mode, not only is it damaging to your muscles and organs, but your weight loss, too.
  7. Hi! Just found this thread today! I am 5 days post-op. Had VSG on 7/3. My highest weight was before I actually even saw the surgeon for the first consult - 362. (April, 2018) On my first consult, I was at 351. Day of surgery- 323. And today 5 days out I have been bouncing between 312 and 314. but I am super excited about where I am headed and the bounce up to 314 might be because I started purees yesterday. Tough day yesterday, I stuck to my guns and didn't eat anything, but I had a surprise Birthday Party for my hubby.....and good thing nothing there sounded good to eat! I took my greek yogurt and protein shake with me to be prepared

    Water/Liquid Intake

I am 2 months post op as of tomorrow the 9th of July and I do not get near 300 calories a day. I have only lost 21 pounds so far. Two little yogurts and I am full. I try and eat a little bowel of oatmeal in the morning with a tablespoon of brown sugar.

    Appetite back with a vengance!

Doing really good. Lost 3 lbs! Treadmill was fixed and I have been doing 45 minutes per day since Friday. I increased my liquid intake, not that I thought I was dehydrated but one thing that I did do was I stopped taking liquid vitamin B daily because I read that it increases appetite. I have definitely felt a difference! My multivitamin has in B vitamins but I was taking additional for energy The mushes I was making was what was recommended to me by the hospital to make i.e. sweet potatoes pumpkin with a bit of pea AS A DIABETIC. People have all kinds of views and opinions about things and some things you have to take in stride in a public forum. I've been enjoying smoothies that are under 200 calories with lots of nutrient dense stuff including Greek yogurt in them as I am not a big yogurt eater. I tried eggs again tonight and YAY I was able to eat one scrambled egg with two tablespoons of cottage cheese. It hurt only slightly but nothing at all like before which means my tolerance for eggs is coming back. Did my first large grocery shop today since surgery and on my own. Was successful in getting good things except for my hurricane supply box and buying non perishable items. I do have protein bars in there and some crackers, tinned stuff, Lets hope that on more than one level I don't have to use them!

    Pre Op Diet rant

My diet was all protein drinks and clear liquids......and one serving per day of like four or so options...a yogurt, or a sugar free pudding, a cup of cream based soup, a serving of sugar free oatmeal. Pre-surgical diet was pure hell. Worse than the surgery, in my opinion. The first two weeks after surgry sucked, too....but at least the scary part is over and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. All in all....that month of hell sucked the big one. I don't envy any of ya'll going through it!

    Uncomfortable After Eating

Yes, this! Start with softer blended foods. Yogurt, blended cottage cheese, pudding. Don't move on until you're ok with these. And don't think 3 oz. is a requirement. If 1 oz. feels ok, then stay there for a while and move up gradually. I was a couple months out before I could even do 2 oz.

    Protein shakes

I like Premier Protein peaches and creme, some people thing,it tastes fakey but to me it tastes just like peach soda pop, I also like Muscle Milk Blueberry Greek yogurt flavor, lower I proein, a little high carb count but I like blueberry, caramel, premier protein, strawberry Muscle Milk and Svelte, french vanilla, it is soy based don't taste it though, cool and smooth. What I don't like is Wal-Mart Equate, yes it is supposed to be equivalent to PP but to me has that fakey evaporated milk undertaste. Others I really haven't tried that much.

    Uncomfortable After Eating

Its a baby stomach. So try one thing at a time. Try yogurt and if that sits Ok then later try the next soft food. Try sugar free pudding and applesause also is something that goes down easily. Slow down take your time. If your not ready then stay on liquids, broth ect. Make sure your getting in your protein and liquids. Tuna, mashed potatoes and casseroles can come later. Greek yogurt

Which salsa are you using? Does the tomato acidity bother you at all? I've been told that tomatoes are a common food not tolerated after VSG. I never thought of mixing in tuna with greek yogurt. I'll have to try that too... Thanks!

    Greek yogurt

I tried another combination this morning and it was very good too. I put a wedged and peeled Bartlet pear into the yogurt. The only issue I'm having is eating it slow... )-: Edit: I actually think this is a better combination than with the apple wedges!

    Digestion problems 11 wks out

Good bugs eat fiber. Make sure you're getting some healthy fiber in your diet. Beans, peas, raspberries, figs, oatmeal, apple ,broccoli, squash, flax, lentils, chick peas. Feeds the good gut bugs and helps firm up stools. Introduce beans and peas in very small amounts to avoid uncomfortable gas. You will develop a tolerance to them if you go slow:) Natural probiotics....yogurt, sauerkraut, miso paste, pickles, olives, kefir, tempeh, Kombucha tea, apple cider vinegar with the mother, kimchi.....anything fermented. (that said, you should use caution to find only SAFETY REGULATED products until you are on the mend)

    Regret it

I had that issue, when I forced myself to eat, even a protein shake or something like yogurt and then a little more solid stuff my nausea stared to get better. It seemed like when I ate dinner, which was my only real solid food, it was the best I felt all day. I'm not saying you should do that but it worked for me, funny how it randomly came on on week 4 ish. Totally sucks but I'm zooming towards my goal. Getting close to halfway there!

    HOLY COW! Is this Dumping?

All of you have lost SO much weight! CONGRATULATIONS and thanks for responding. I do appreciate it. That whole episode was so scary for me. Since I'm so freshly post-op, I'm really not eating much and I've had the same liquids/foods for the last week with no change. @GassyGurl - are you saying that you eat the same thing for 10 days and it's not until the 10th day that you may dump on one of the foods? @SGirl35 - Thank you. I will certainly keep my eye out, and I'm not having another Flinstone. I'll call my doctor on Monday to discuss what happened. @Biddy zz - your Christmas cake episode sounded awful. I honestly don't think I could have doubled the time of my pain. 45 minutes would have been too long. Good heads up on the Quest bar. I saw someone eating one of those on a YouTube video and thought I'd love to try one later down the road. Now, not so much. The label on the vitamins didn't provide much detail. There was only like 2g added sugar and so the only thing that stood out in the ingredients was the glucose syrup. My other vitamins do not have that and nor does my yogurt or any of the other foods I've been eating. It didn't say how much syrup was in there. @AshAsh1 - I really hope it's not a kidney stone but you do have me thinking. I've had a few before and they had to be lasered out. Not exactly looking for another surgery any time soon. I think you're right that time will tell and I'll just have to see how things go. Thanks again for all of you responding. Appreciate it.

    Pre Op Diet rant

You’re soooooo lucky to have a lean meal a day. I got nothing, only liquids. I took a pudding, applesauce, and yogurt (all in already packaged cups from the grocery store so I didn’t have to physically pack anything) to work everyday and drank lots of fluids to help me think I was full. Of course I was starving lol but I got through it.
  21. I started on pureed foods (oatmeal, yogurt, strained cream soups, riccota cheese, sf puddings etc) on 3rd day after hospital discharge. Since I was released on July 4th, today was my first day of purees. I still have to have some protien shakes to get all my protien. I won't find out about diet advancement until my post-op appointment on 7/11. On the up side, since April 17th I have lost 50 pounds!!!

    Greek yogurt

I'm pre-op and adjusting to the pre-op diet. I absolutely hate greek yogurt! or so I thought I did... I had only tried the Chobani brand once or twice and could not finish the container. It tasted awful. At the store the other day, I decided to give it another try, but this time I tried Danon Lite & Fit Greek Non-Fat, strawberry flavor. I really like this. I eat it as a snack and sometimes use it as a dip for apple wedges. It is a nice combination.
  23. I have 20 lbs to go until my goal weight. After reading everyone's advice in my thread about what I eat each day, I consulted my nutritionist and I am going to change things up. I ditched the Atkins Bar as a snack. I am allowed to (2) ounce snacks a day. I haven't been eating fruit at all, but today I had a clementine and about six almonds as my first snack. I also bought plain Greek yogurt and fresh blueberries to have for breakfast. I also need to be more active. At my last doctor's appt a few weeks ago, he said don't worry about cardio and to lift heavy things. I am also going to up m water/fluid intake to 64 to about 90. I lost one pound in the last 12 days or so. I want to hit goal weight by December!

    Greek yogurt

I hear you, I'm not a yogurt fan either. But I have found a few ways to use Greek yogurt. I mix plain Greek yogurt with salsa for a rich creamy dip. You can add avacado as well and make it really rich. This is good for soft/moist foods stage too. I would chop chicken, mix with dip. Plain Greek yogurt is also good to replace mayo for tuna and chicken salad. Replaces sour cream as well. I also use vanilla Greek yogurt and mix in a little fruit for flavor, it's like dessert! Get creative, try to modify things you like to incorporate Greek yogurt. We all love our own creations! But seriously, plain Greek yogurt and salsa is an amazing combo!
