  1. I did it, 100lbs. Now doing aqua aerobics once a week, gym for 45 minutes 3 times a week and just found a Zumba class close by, need some guts to get me in there yet but I think it could be fun, hot sweaty fun but if it helps and makes me smile, it's all good. Family stresses are tiring at the moment, daughter just turned 16 and is starting college in September, son due to turn 19 in September and start University. Life feels like a whirlwind and gym gives me time to think by myself. Suffering menopause too, my word I do grumble! On the bright side, I'm alive and surrounded by people I love and who love me. Let me know how the dance classes went, hope you enjoyed them so much you make it a regular thing x

  2. I know we will both meet our goal next week. Keep the positive vibes coming - we are going to succeed. Have a great week.

  3. Hi Everyone, Ive been MIA for a while cos there is lots going on in my life at the moment but the band is almost doing nothing. I have lost 48lb but most of that was in the beginning. I am joining weight watchers next week. I need structure. My next fill is on the 3rd of Sept. And I am supposed to have lost another 8lb by then!!!!!

Hope you are all doing well and experiencing great restriction.

Hugs and good luck to everyone xxxx

  4. Congratulations...cant wait till I get that far...Im just 2 weeks out today and down 10

  5. HI...went yesterday and they are suppose to let me know date in two weeks. NERVOUS!!!! It would be great to have support. None of my friends understand. Kindda sad but for once I have to do something for me.

  6. Hi, AmberK.

Just wanted to say good luck with your surgery this week. We'll be thinking of you! I also wanted to congratulate you on the 14 pounds you've already lost that's 10% of your weight goal!!

Stay strong - you can totally do this!

  7. Hi Mommy2P,

Like your posts. So when were you banded? My surgery was July 9th. I have 4 weeks to go until I have my first fill. I have lost 13 pounds. Hope I lose some more... but I wonder. Lets keep each other posted!

  8. Ah patience - not my strong suit, but I promise to try. This has been much easier than what I had imagined it would be. Thanks for the words of encouragement with the food. Haven't experienced first stuck yet, but I hear it happens to us all, so thanks for the advice. Have a great week! Love your picture!

  9. I have a 2 week diet too. I have 4 protein shakes 64 oz of calorie free liquid and for dinner 3-4 oz of grilled chicken, tuna, or pork loin, 2 cups of raw greens and 1 tomato. I start my pre-op diet on the 4th. I am evenly distributed too. I would not like 4 weeks of liquid only.

  10. Lena,

Yes, I would very much like to have a buddy who is going through the same transformation as I am.

I have to say that I am really not that nervous, but then again there is still just over 3 weeks to go until the magic date.

What does your pre-op diet look like? I just found out on Friday that my Doc has three different diets depending on your body shape and how much you have to lose. Since I am an evenly distributed person, I will 'only' have to do a two week diet with 2 shakes and a small meal. I guess some 'apple' shapes have to do 4 weeks of liquid only....YIKES.

    Thanks for the message,

    Kelly

  11. Hello! Surgey went well. I'm 1 week post-op now and feel alot better. Still having a little bathroom issues  and some port pain :crying: but I guess thats normal. I can't wait till I'm 100% better so I can get out there and start excercising, I walk now but somewhat of a slow paced walk. It gets old. However I have lost 22 lbs so far!!!

Congrats on getting approved!! I bet your real excited huh. Where are you getting it done?

  12. Hey girl! I am doing pretty good. I just ran my first 3K last weekend and I think I am going to work for a 5K in September. I am running about 2 miles a day about 5 times a week or so and I hit the gym about 3-4 times a week when I'm not traveling with my job. I feel pretty good. I am still about 20 lbs up from my lowest, but I am in pretty good shape. Trying to watch my caloric intake to lose slowly instead of keeping my carbs super low. I don't think I will ever be happy until I have PS to take the extra skin off (bad apron in front IMHO) and perk the girls up. The TT is a big priority but with other things going on I just can't afford it right now. Hopefully in a year or two. I am so glad to hear things are going so well for you. Funny how the first 9 months I lived on the boards but we have all kind of found our way back into a life where the band is a part of normal living and not something to take up every last waking thought.

  13. Hi Lorraine,

Just saying hello. Hope all is going well. Good luck on week 3.

    Dena

  14. OK...the TT in 2007...It was easily the hardest in terms of recovery, because the abdominal muscles are involved. I had a lower body lift last summer, and that one is supposed to be the roughest, but it wasn't, in my opinion. The summer in between (2008) I had a breast lift. With all of these surgeries was miscellaneous liposuction, except with my TT when he also did a scar revision for something unrelated to my weight loss. A few weeks ago I had an arm lift (shorter scar) and a revision to the medial thigh lift from last year. I'm still pretty swollen from that, and the arm lift is not a pleasant surgery for recovery. The scars are ugly right now and my arms look thinner but they are nowhere near their end result. Same with the thighs. I go through this every time...I have a post from the past on the Dr. Schulman thread on this site where you can see my anxiety!! More to come...

  15. Thanks for being concerned about me. Yes, I went back to work and this week alone I have worked 40 hours of overtime so I've been very busy. I hope you are doing well.

  16. yeah- I definitely notice that after I workout I'm tighter-- same sensation as in the mornings. Last night I went to the gym, and noticed it right away.

I will look into the toning classes. They offer a "bootcamp" thing here, but I'm not sure what it consists of. I do think I need to try something new, because at times my weight loss is stalling. I added weight machines after my cardio, and that seemed to help, but I still think I need to shake it up a bit.

  17. Hi there Kansans!

I live in SE Kansas and had my first fill in Overland Park today.

    All went well.

I will be back up there in 4 weeks. It is a 3hr drive for me but worth every minute!

  18. My secret is I eat alot of chicken and fish. I measure everything. I'm not a fanatic in exercise but I try to walk at least 4-5 times a week. Anywhere from 3-5 miles. I use my Wii Fit at home. And I made up my mind that I am going to do this. I think the biggest secret is not to give into head hunger. Plus I reward myself once and awhile. This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Diets have always failed me. But once I started losing the weight and seeing the great results, it was just a matter of keeping myself going. And it helps to have good support.

  19. One day isnt that bad, I read your story of why you did it though and that was really nice of you! I get banded next monday.. when I was picking my date I could have done it today but I kinda freaked out and chose a week later. LOL i think now, wow it could have been done already! BUt thats ok... im hoping this week flies by, im trying to keep super busy :-) Make sure you let me know how surgery went , just dont scare me!

  20. The 27 pounds is from when I started my 3 month diet! I have lost 11 pounds in 1 week tho! I wish I didnt gain 6 pounds during my last week of "last meal syndrome" I would be down 6 more pounds! lol Your doing great!

  21. Sounds like your on your way to being back on track. I had an MRI a week before my surgery for a pinched nerve still waiting on results, hopefully next week. I'm really bored with the post op selections so I just don't eat or drink, I am ready for some variety and looking forward to working out too.

  22. I go see the doctor Monday and I do believe then I hope when he schedules me for two more weeks out that is when I will get my first fill! Have you been eating soft foods then? I was suppose to be on full liquids until monday then I would graduate to soft foods, but I was so starving that I couldnt wait any longer I had to eat and so thats what I have been doing, but truely watching my portions. I eat have of what is normal or actually it is probably normal but not to what I use to eat. so far I haven't had problems with anything going down my band yet, but then again I think they try to get you mentally prepared for the band so thats why they have a post opt diet. I just started it a 5 days early from the full liquid to soft foods part.

  23. Hey Coco! How have you been? Have you started your pre-op yet? I don't get my banding till next friday...lol. I WISH it was tomorrow so I can get it over with. I'm starving on this pre op diet. So one week to go!!! :-)

  24. I have a weird feeling with my band too but I usually get it at night time or just when I first get up. I can go all day feeling pretty good but as soon as it gets late I get pains on the left side of my stomache about an inch to the left and up from my belly button. I keep thinking that its the port that is just floating forward or something (lol), but not sure what it is exactly, but I'm sure its normal. I go to the doctor Monday and then will hopefully schedule out in two weeks a fill. Ive been so hungry that I've started to eat some food which I'm ok with, but also don't want to be too tempted on eating bad things. I've lost 22 pounds total so far!

  25. I will be posting more this summer on a blog and on here, this is the greatest encouragement I have found! After surgery walk, walk, walk, do as your Dr.'s instruct and you will do fine, totally serious it seems like one day I was huge and then I wasn't, i did not loose any weight for 4 months and still went down 3 pants sizes, the only exercise I do is walk 30-45 min. a day 4-5 times a week, high protien diet at least 75 grams prot. a day.
