Hi Chrissy – That is good to hear. That’s what my doc said too. It’s just when you’re bent over hacking up saliva and sometimes food you think should it be happening this often… Good luck on your one month challenge! Some people only have to lose about 10 pounds so don’t kill yourself trying to beat it. Some of us could lose that in one sitting. Ok TMI.

I first made contact with the Boom Princess about 12 years ago doing Low Carb. I had to call on her often for help. :biggrin0: Even the Benefiber doesn't help if I let myself get constipated. YUCK! and way TMI! I think I'm about 2x a week these days. I can't wait until adding raw veggies is allowed as I know that will help. I think I get stopped up by Protein shakes but it's a toss up.... constipated or losing hair? Hmmmm.... now what should I choose?

Okay I am sorry, but I am two days on mushies and my tummy is a gross gassy mess and I feel like I need to use the restroom, but nothing! I barely had any bm's with liquid but I thought that was probably normal, but this is super funky! How can I get in some fiber, my tummy has no room for anything more.

this mornin, I woke up feeling very naseaous, I also started my TOM (time of month) overnight. I am not sure if there is any relation to my nausea. I am still on liquids and at this moment I cannot phatom having another protein drink. I have been sipping on calorie free lemonade to cut down on the naseauted feeling. I s/w nurse advised that I was feeling like crap. I told her that I cannot do the pro shakes today. She convinced me to try other brands. I was not able to get my shakes in today. Whenever, I tried I wld gag and I did not want to risk vomitting. My doctor prescribed me some nausea medication. Just liquids and a chocolate malt energy drink called MILO (very popular in Mexico and Africa). God willing, 2morrow I will go and buy some protein shots. I have pushed my post op for 2 morrow. Catching a flight to see my family afterwards. I am suprising them, was supposed to get there on Saturday, but I just can't wait. What happened to my ability to BURP! All I want to do is burp. Also, I have been able to fart (TMI) quite a few times today. ThanK God I am alone. Congrats to all those banded 2day. God be with those being handled 2morrow. -
Pain in butt (literally!)...help
RavenClaw779 replied to mbranham0306's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope this isn't TMI - I had a tumor removed from my breast 10 years ago, a breast reduction and radiation so I have a lot of scar tissue in that breast. I'm down 40 pounds and all of a sudden I had terrible pain in that breast and of course with all the scar tissue I have to be careful not to freak out when I do my month BSE - Is that a lump?! Lucky for me I just had my annual mammo - while experiencing the pain(BIG FUN!) - and there was nothing there. The radiologist thinks that since I'd lost the padding the scar tissue is rubbing on the nerve. She felt that in time it would lessen - and she was right. Could be what you've got going on!? -
I had the Mirena put in a couple months before my surgery, and I bled like crazy too, mine never was in the right place, and it was very uncomfortable, especially during sex(tmi, sorry). I had it taken out a couple months ago, and so glad I did, I bled for a couple of weeks, but I am regular again, and no more painful sex. Good luck with it!

Today I am 2 weeks post-op and I am wearing a pair of jeans that haven't fit me since this time last year! I have another NSV but it's kind of TMI

Okay, this may be a little TMI for some, so here's the warning: DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE, OR GET OFFENDED, OR WHINE A BUNCH. We're adults, sex is a normal part of our lives, and this is just my own personal experience. Sex post weight loss is pretty fabulous. Positions obviously now have a new meaning bc they are easier to get into. Also, I felt more at ease with my husband even though that man made love to me regardless of my fat. He never once mentioned my weight, my size, my inability to get into freaky, fun positions, he never once complained nor mentioned anything negative about our sex life pre-op. I will be 100% honest with you and everyone else here. Now that I've lost all my weight, having sex with my naturally thin, lean, muscular husband can be somewhat challenging. My huge boobs that being fat gave me are now just skin and little bit of breast tissue. I lay back, they fall over to my underarm area. Therefore, causing major sternum bumping in missionary position. This hasn't posed any problems perse but it's not always comfortable. I still have a little tummy fat roll that likes to make these "not so" cute noises, that took some time to getting used to, and for me to not be embarrassed when it did happen. Also, my butt seems to have disappeared completely therefore I'm quite boney in the rear area. Hip bones are torture devices, but now that I can manipulate my body with ease, it's not so bad. Overall, sex is pretty amazing. I feel closer to my husband, I'm not hiding under the sheets, I'm demanding the lights be turned off, it's very enjoyable even if some adjustments have to be made to avoid injury. It's a new world. I could give more specifics, but I'll refrain because it could be too graphic for some. If you want any other specifics, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me via the Private message system. I will say this, my private parts lost weight as well. Things are boney in that area, it looks different, it's not something that I focused on when I was fat. Because, well, I couldn't see all that well without the assistance of a mirror. But, my husband has even commented on how it has changed. It's not disgusting or gross, it's a good change, and it's kind of cool to be honest.

Last night, my husband decided he wanted Subway. So I went and got him a sandwich, and I got me a salad. I ate all the little short chicken strips (I think there was about 5). And then I had about 5 bits of lettuce and cheese. I all of a sudden got a pain in my chest, so I stopped eating. I started pbing and that was not giving me any relief. Most of the stuff that was coming up was just spit, but sometimes had some lettuce. (sorry for the tmi) I took a shower and let the hot water hit my chest, and that helped. I sat down in bed for about 5 mintues. And then got back up and here it came. My husband had fallen asleep. I threw up so hard and loud that it woke up my husband. I did it about 3 or 4 times. I can tell my pouch is irritated, so I am doing liquids today. Do I need to call my doctor to make sure I didn't do any damage?

Am I hungry, or do I think I'm hungry??
achopp posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I'm on post op day 5, and the last couple of days I've been really hungry. This is rather troubling since I thought the surgery would take away my hunger, especially in the beginning. Or could this just be what I've heard people call "head hunger"? Will it get better when I move on to mushies? Also, (possibly TMI) I've been having some cramping and loose stools. Does anyone know if pepto bismol is alright in the all liquids phase? Thanks, you guys help me out so much. -
Meeting the guidelines
wannalise replied to wannalise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe this is TMI but in the hospital I threw up crystal light for one whole day and even though I have different flavors in my pantry I just can't bring myself to even try them. I am actually loving water which is not my typical M.O. so....a good thing already I guess. Who knew how many commercials there were for food when you are in the lazy recoup mode? -

Morning ladies, Steph, have a safe drive to Billings! It will be okay. DD#2 is coming up tonight and we are moveing everything to storage. I am hoping the sellers of the house I'm buying will let me move the big stuff in, since we will be closing POSSIBLY next week when no one can help. I am going to offer them some $$ for the privilege and hopefully they will go for it. The Radon test came back high, so I am asking for a long term test with possible remediation if it comes back high. I'm beat and sore from working in the nursery. I haven't been doing anything heavy, just cleaning up 4 inch perenial pots. But it involves sitting on a 5 gal bucket and lots of bending over. Unless things start feeling better, I am going to have to go to the docs and see about a peccuary, not what I want, but if it ends the pain, it will be worth it. I'm sick of the pain and of not being able to urinate (yep TMI) I am going to have to take Friday off, I know my boss won't be thrilled, but I don't have any other options right now. Hopefully she will understand. Life has gotten so crazy. DD#4 didn't come home last night (at least she called), so I had her furry in bed with me, but he whines when she isn't around, so not much sleep. Once I get moved I'm going to take what time I have left for personal days, and get the house together and SLEEP. I'm tired. I know it seems like all I do is talk about me, sorry. Yesterday, I was really missing my dad. All these decisions to make without his advise AND I have NEVER moved without him and his horse trailer. I want him here. It seems so weird not to have him around. Most the time, I just don't think about it. but right now I want him. The other day when I talked to mom, I heard him. I know just my imagination. But I wish I could talke to him. He always had such good advice. Oh well, life goes on even when we don't want it tooo. I can't even think about going back to work right now. Only 9 weeks left. Well best get going, TTFN -

Phyl, I think the serpentine belt is a long belt that runs more than one item in the motor, it's like a fan belt plus, RV won't run without one. I bet you are exhausted. Janet, so was Idrise still trying to convince you that food can't be an addiction? We all know that it is, people that don't have that addiction don't understand. It's like offering a drink to a recovering alcoholic. It is only in our lifetime that alcoholism was considered a disease, eventually food addiction will be also. Our country is proof of that. I bet there are more people with food addiction than there are alcoholics. The huge difference, an alcoholic can avoid alcohol, a food addict doesn't have that choice and THAT is the problem. I can NOT eat very well, have done it many times. I can live on 200 calories a day, for weeks. But eventually the body rebels and has to have food. Ah my kingdom to be able to urinate, sorry TMI. Too much bending yesterday and certain organs are rebelling. Hope you all have a good day, ttfn -
Gallbladder removal during VSG surgery?
Tiffykins replied to ouroborous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon opts to not remove the gb at the same time. His reasoning is because during the rapid weight loss phase, being in ketosis, taking in extra fat especially from Protein foods the gb actually helps digest these foods completely. Plus, only 1/4 of his patients between VSG, band and RNY need to have their gb removed due to weight changes. I tell you based on my experience. My gb came out 9 months post-op. I've had a hell of a time eating post-op and trying to maintain my weight. food that I ate just 2 months ago no longer work for me. I can eat them, but I'm in the bathroom shortly thereafter. It isn't pleasant, and I since I eat many foods still today that I ate during my losing stage, I would have very limited on what I could have eaten. If I happen to find myself constipated, a nice dollop of Ranch or Thousand Island dressing with about 4 crackers or a small spinach salad lands me in the bathroom for a solid 30 minutes. Constipation cured, butt burn in full effect. Probably TMI, but it's been my experience. There is also a drug called Actigall that some surgeons prescribe. I declined due our livers working overtime during the rapid weight loss phase, I wasn't willing to add another RX to the mix to make my liver work even harder. Plus, there are some liver contraindications with Actigall. For me, the risk of keeping my gb were minimal considering all the factors presented to me. -
Who da thunk it! It feels like I've had this sleeve FOREVER. Im not hungry at all, but I have this strange urge to see "what" I can eat. I've licked spoons people. I licked a mashed potato spoon, a chili spoon, a tunafish fork (LOL) and I nibbled a chicken nugget. I dunno why I feel the need. I haven't gotten sick and I was incredibly full afterward, but I just feel like the diet is so boring at this stage and time is ticking S-L-O-W-L-Y. Im not supposed to be on mushies and I'm really afraid I will break something, but I just feel the need to "chew"? I've read about this but kinda dismissed it like I did when my cousin tried to tell me there was NO SANTA...Yeah right!! I don't believe it. Well believe it. Our heads tell us to do stupid things and if they didn't I'd be willing to bet 50% of us wouldn't be here anyway. I've been feeling pretty good; I started work today and haven't had a nap yet:thumbup1: Only other thing(s): Im cold as HELL (if it is cold there). I have the heat on in my office today and I don't want to leave out. My tape hasn't fallen off and one of my incisions looked ugly this morning. It had some discharge (not smelly) and it looked like if I pulled the tape back any farther it would open there was a little pink (MAYBE TMI...but I was worried). I was told not to worry about this and to keep a watch on my temp and other signs of infection. It doesn't hurt at all, but I'm really squeamish and the fact that I see the pink makes me want to faint:eek:. I've lost 10 lbs so far. Probably would have been more if I hadn't had an obsession with full liquids and spoon licking. But I'm satisfied, because thanks to my sleeve---I'll never see those 10 lbs again!

Jodi you are doing great - crystal lite added to your water may help - drink ice tea that's water :0) - I am not always good about getting mine in either - I have to force myself - if I don't get enough water - I have tmi issues :0) - today has been ok as far as water & food goes.. Apples - Target did have $99 beach crusiers that's all I want - but only boys no girls - so I didn't get one.. Just finished mopping my bathroom floor and am washing rugs Unloaded & loaded dishwasher - vacuumed my room that's about it for me today.. Phyl - sounds like you had fun... Joyce - I know how hard it is to get rid of stuff - I lived in my prior house for like 28 yrs - but I got rid of everything - even my Dad's kitchen table - gave mostly everything to neighbor she needed it and appreciated it..

My Doc told me to wait at least 6 weeks. My husband wasn't too happy, but we didn't actually make it..:w00t: LOL I would suggest taking it easy, you might irritate the port area. And depending where your your port is might make it a bit difficult at first. It could be quite painful rather than pleasurable. As my hubby demonstrated though when there's a will there's way. Being on top didn't do too much harm... HAHAHA!! (Hopefully, that wasn't too much of a TMI moment.)

So far I've lost 27 lbs - wish it was more but still happy... But I've had lots of non-scale victories! I can put my shoes on without using two hands to pull a leg up to reach my feet - they just come up on their own! (TMI warning ...) I realized that I used a public restroom in a regular stall and didn't have to fight to get out of it!!! All my co-workers are saying they see the changes already - I don't see much myself, but it will come! Thanks to everyone here who has been encouraging me! I'm on facebook if you want to add me - I post my progress and struggles every day... booklady314@comcast.net :-)

At the risk of embarrassing myself....
amanda3t commented on Yvette1026's blog entry in How I lost 100lbs
im 6 weeks post op, and I have A TONNE of gas. I'm always farting, and sometimes my stomach hurts in the evening, and it made me think my band had slipped or something, but later I'll fart and the pain is gone. I'm also pissing out my ass. TMI?? but yes, my whole toilet life has changed since the surgery, and its not great to experience, but for 25 pounds gone so far, I'll take it!! It's gotten worse since I got a fill, so maybe the restriction is the cause, and once I'm at goal, I can get an unfill, and things will be more normal again? -
I thought maybe I did, cause my belly hurt so much last night. But then I farted. TMI?? Who knew gas could hurt so much? I sure didnt before I got this surgery!!

Help!!! with Preop Magnesium Citrate
adagray replied to mcastane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it may depend on if you are normally constipated or not (how long it takes to work). Sorry TMI coming... I've always been one to be on the loose side and go 3+ times a day. I am NEVER constipated. If anything, I have the reverse problem of having to go too much. I was scared to death to take the magnesium citrate knowing how my system already is. And, sure enough, it gave me horrible horrible diarrhea starting 15 minutes after taking it and for the rest of the day and night. I was seriously dehydrated by the time I checked into the hospital. My BP was super low and I sucked up an IV bag in record time as soon as they hooked me up. I continued to have diarrhea for the entire next week after surgery. Gosh, I hate that magnesium citrate stuff. Vile vile liquid! Anyway, your plan to call the doctor in the morning if it doesn't work by then is a good one. I can't imagine it not working, though, unless you got a bad batch. Oh, one thing you might try is drinking lots of Water. The way I understand it, magnesium citrate works by sucking water out of your system and forcing it into your bowels. So, if you are dehydrated, maybe you don't have enough water in your system to force into your bowels? Just an idea. -
I'll add my two cents for what it's worth. I had to give up coffee prior to surgery because my surgeron said he didn't want it in my system during surgery, and he also didn't want me to suffer from caffeine-withdrawl symptoms (headache, etc) on the day of surgery. I slowly cut back to nothing for my surgery. Then, directly after the surgery I was told to refrain from coffee because it is a stimulant and may irritate the newly-banded stomach. I figured since coffee can sometimes be a bowel stimulant (contractions and all--not to give TMI), that maybe it had a similar effect on other parts of the digestive system (?). I slowly added coffee after about a month after surgery and and am now (10 months later) back to my full cup of coffee with a bit of skim milk. My nutritionist said that she didn't have a problem with coffee--as long as it didn't replace my water intake. Everyone says that coffee is dehydrating, but I remember reading a study that said while that may be true in people who drink coffee now-and-then, that it isn't true in people who drink coffee daily.

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
gingerjane replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I'm home. Had my surgery this morning with Dr. Trace Curry. I had a hernia that they had to repair, so I got a little more stomach gas they said. I have to say, that is the worst part of the whole thing so far. My port incision is a bit sore but not unbearable. I hate to be TMI, but I have never prayed so hard to fart in my entire life! :tt1: I have a heating pad and a thermacare on my shoulder trying to break it up and keep getting up and walking around. The walking isn't bad, either. Just that darn gas! -
Ok so today I think I had my first stuck epidose. I actually thought I had already had two, but they were nothing like today. I just want to explain what happened so you all can tell me if this is all normal. At lunchtime I was out and about and feeling hungry so I stopped and got something that I knew that I probably shouldn't eat....but you know. Anyway it was a White Castle(little slider burger) After my first bite, I knew it wasn't gonna be good, it started with the hiccips, then I got an EXCRUTIATING PAIN in the sternal area, then I had to pull over and fill the bag with some thick slimey stuff(I know TMI) it wasn't really vomit just mucousy yuck!! Anyway after a little while I felt better. Then tonight for dinner I made a baked potato with a little ff cheese. I had a couple of bites and WHAM it all started again except this time it hurt even worse. The only thing I could think to do was drink Water, WRONG came flying back out. Anyway is it normal for this to happen 2x in one day(is it because it is swollen or something) No one told me about all this stuck/slime stuff before my surgery so am I supposed to go back to liquids for a while or something? Now I just feel yucky/nauseous. The other weird part. I have only had one fill and only have 1.5cc in my band. I am scheduled for another fill on 3/25 but now I am a little scared to get more. I don't want to have this happen all the time. Any input is greatly appreciated!!
