  1. Hi Jean:

Man those protien shakes are killing my stomach and my BM system is being thrown for a loop. I need to find something I can tolerate. Right now, the surgeon asked me not to lose any more weight, because my BMI dropped to 40.1. They want to wait for insurance approval before I start the pre-op diet.

  2. Hi wvgall33. My name is Cindy and we are having surgery on the same date. I know we will both do wonderfully that day. And we are gonna knock it outta the park on our weight loss. You can message me any time. I am on the computer several times a day. Hope to hear from you soon.

  3. That sounds like your sweet spot to me! I lost the weight being on liquids for 9 days after the too tight fill. I have gained some of it back - which is expected when you go on real food again. I don't have very much restriction right now at all. So stinkin weird. I had restriction before at 3CC, and now I don't feel like I have any! I am going to wait a couple of weeks (money reasons primarily) then go in for .1 I hope that helps.

I hate that time of the month. Sucks

  4. Hey Jardenia,

So far the pre-op hasn't been too bad. It is pretty amazing that once I got the sugar and carbs out of my system how my hunger or should I say apatite diminished.

As I said I have been researching for years and have learned so much along the way. There is another lap band group that I belong to and really enjoy. It is smartbandsters@yahoo.com. I have also found that everything that is on these boards is not necessarily golden so confirm your facts. There is a very helpful and informative book written by Jessie Ahronni.(sp) She is a lap band nurse and has had her band for ten years so she knows her stuff. I got the book on Amazon. The title is Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding: Achieving Permanant Weight Loss with Minimally Invasive Surgery.

I have had all of my pre-op testing and am counting the days. We are going to spend the night in Richmond on Wednesday the night before surgery and Thursday night the night of surgery. We live beween and hour and an hour and a half away so the Doc said I should stay close the first night since I am a "Drive Thru."

Hope your insurance will cover everything for you and won't require that you jump thru many hoops.

I have done some pics but will wait till there is a decernable difference to post them. I am trying to put my pic on my profile but haven't been able to figure out how to do it yet.

Keep me posted on your progress. Good luck!

    Linda

  5. Hey Pete, I hope you're doing well. Me, I'm still learning to eat. I'm not loosing any more weight since I went to the mushies. I'm hoping my new christmas present/treadmill will start that scale moving again. How far are you walking a day? Are you outside or on a treadmill? You have a great advantage with weather being in Fla. but it still gets dark early in the winter. Thanks for the updates!

  6. Hey Donna! Thanks for checking on me. I've just been super busy with Christmas coming up and haven't been online much. I haven't been doing so hot on weight loss lately. As soon as Christmas is over, it's back to the gym...pronto. Thanks again for checking on me. Talk to you later.

  7. Hi there! My name is Kim and I am from Elk Grove. I saw that you had your surgery in Modesto and wanted to contact you. Congrats on your success with the lapband surgery!

I am in the "considering" stage right now and have asked for a bariatric referral from my primary physician. I have a BMI of 35.5 w/ 2 comorbids so I guess I barely make it. I really am hoping this is for me. I have struggled sooo long with my weight and I am so depressed about it!

May I ask you how your recovery has been? Have you had a lot of nausea or vomiting? I am concerned about that part!

Any input you can give me is so appreciated!! Happy Holidays!

    Kim

  8. Wow luluc you are an inspiration!!! Great job on your weight loss. I am just starting my journey. I was banded on 12/10. I only hope I can do as well as you.

  11. Cogratulations!! I can't wait until my surgery date Jan 7th. I was wonderng how you are doing now? I'm almost the same weight and age as you and I have 3 boys. My youngest being 1 1/2 yrs old. He's a big boy, about 30 pds and I'm wondering how long it will be before I can pick him up. I have stairs in my house which he's not big enough to go down yet. Hope you're doing well, keep us posted on your progress, I would love to know what to expect.

  13. Hi Terry, I am so thankful for your quick response. I keep think oh man I only have a few more weeks to get that weight off. Now in just one week I see the surgeon. So far I've played with the same 10 lbs. I hope I can get a few more off before next week. I will really go at. Thanks again for your response. How it everything going for you at this point? How are you feeling?

Then i fell pregnant and now had a baby 8 months ago .My fill was removed when i got pregnant ,i have just managed to come back to my pre pregnancy weight ,I have not been in touch with my band or any support ,I feel like i have failed my band . :frown: I look at peopls before after pic and think i am never able to do this .

  16. Hi Karina, I have been dealing with Triwest since March. I have dealt with denials, appeals, denials to appeals, etc. I am 5'3", 244, no co-morbs, and I have a medium frame. I am hoping now to qualify under their 200% rule. I was resubmitted today, but it has not shown up on the site yet. Do you know anything about the 200%? My ideal weight should be like 131-150-something. I am really hoping to qualify this time. Just thought I would share with you! You are not alone.

  17. hey, your doing great! We got banded around the same time, and were about the same weight. I was just wondering are you at your best restriction, I havent found that yet.. Also how much do you normally eat? Do you exercise?

  18. Sorry for just responding. I'm doing pretty good today. My doctor is Dr. Brody out of GW Hospital. He is a good doctor very nice, but his office staff is another question. I had to stay on top of them for everything. Was it worth it YES. I have been overweight my entire life. I've tried Weight Watchers, Medifast and countless other things. I feel this is what I need to help me get to where I want and to also be healthy. Is it a scarfice YES. You have to change your lifestyle but again it is worth it.. It was the longest process that I've had to deal with besides having my son and it actually took as long having my son. I had to do the six month weight management and let me tell you that was nerve wrecking, but I'm already 15lbs down with a long way to go but I feel good. I'm happy and I'm looking forward to a new me.. I probably gave you more information than you wanted.. I ramble sometime, but hope it helps. Reply back anything time I'm willing to help you as much as I can.. we are all in this together.

One more thing my doctor kept me in the hospital overnight. I think that is good.. they do testing before you leave the next morning to make sure everything is working the way it should.

  19. Jenny,

I guarantee that the 3lbs is from water. When I went into surgery, I was 267, the day I came home I was 275, but obviously, it was water weight. As for the gas, get some gas X and walk as much as you can, even if it is just around your home!

  20. Marie, hi April from Indiana. New to the site, looking for some help on how to set up the cool weight counters and other things like that on my page. Any advice on how to add that info. Banded on July 14, start weight 324 current 265.

  21. I was told today that TriCare requires proof of supervised weight loss program. They are suggesting their Nutrion program for $200. I am standard and wasn't told that when I spoke with TriCare

  22. Hey Kelli: I saw you are a lab tech, so am I.

I am a little nervous, only because I think I will miss eating as much as I am used too. This last 8.5 days have been trying, I have been longing for pizza & toast.

How did you post that weight tracker, I found the site but I don't know how to transfer it to this site.

    Marie :)

  23. New to forum, I was banded on 9/29/08, I lost 13lbs and I have anxiety that this will work, my swelling has gone down and I can eat, but I get really full and I havent lost any weight in 2 weeks. Is this anxiety normal

  24. Hey girl, Thanks for the friendship request! How is your weight loss journey going so far.

  25. No, nothing was posted about you, it's just I hadn't seen any postings from you on any of her threads lately so I was just reaching unwarranted conclusions. I find your postings so uplifting I missed them. Sorry to hear you've hit the wall with the weight loss but steady wins the race in the end so come on back.
