Super Saturday Weigh In
SkinnyMinnie2Be replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
235.8 yesterday! That almost a 3 lbs loss this week. Weighed myself this morning and I was 237 but I'm not discouraged. Also had a visit from Aunt Flo this morning (sorry for those who think its TMI) so that may be contributing to the extra 2lbs today. -
Lets try this again...Those who were BANDED the week of December 17th...
~Trixie~ replied to ~Trixie~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Melinda. I have the APS band as well. I'm doing pretty well weight-loss wise: 23.5 pounds since my surgery on December 17th. I've kind of hit a stall this week, which I'm hoping is attributed to my monthly visitor and a lack of BMs (sorry if that's TMI!). I've noticed that I can eat a lot more as time goes by (I'm still sticking with the 1/2-3/4 of a cup per meal even though I feel like I can eat a whole lot more!). -
Incision Pain
Incredibleshrinkiningkiley replied to Jnfinney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 9 days out and really struggling with pain. I had an incident with TMI pooping today and now my stomach is in so much pain it feels like every move I make I might pass out from pain. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
PrtyAntOvrYt replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
That's great! You know, I realized something a couple of months ago. I usually weigh immediately after waking up and pee'g (sorry TMI) - then I take my shower. I then drink 1/2 of a protein shake with my meds. I decided I'd weigh again after my shower and I noticed the weight is usually lower. (I know I'm adddicted to my scale) It made me wonder if the body needs a little time to shift after waking up. So now I weigh after my shower and that's the weight I take as my morning weight. I'm glad the TOM weight is moving out of there! -
pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! You said a mouthful!!! I just want to be normal. we are hardly "eating" any calories, so we're tired from that. Then add the pain (and TMI, I got my period a few days ago, so through that on there). Thankful I have everyone on here to gripe to, LOL. I know my husband is sympathetic, but he can't fully understand (I'm glad he doesn't have to go through this). -
Anyone having surgery in May
MommaD88 replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to the men! TMI I know. I know what you mean about getting the time of the month. Because my O2 levels kept dropping they didn't want to take the foley cath out. So they expected me to walk with the cath and deal with mother nature all at the same time....embarrassing. Oh well all is good now. -
Anyone having surgery in May
loveslavender replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone, I had my gastric sleeve done on May 7th. I too also cleaned the house good, gave the dog a bath etc. With the Lord watching over me I did great with a few bumps. I bought premier liquid shakes because they were already made and bought them at Costco you can also get the powder form in a HUGE bag for 40.00. I bought sugar free chocolate pudding, Mott's green apple applesauce. Campbell's has an awesome butternut squash soup. I loved Swanson's chicken broth I went to stage 2 a day after surgery because I didn't do well on the 1st phase. I have protein drink for breakfast, instant cream of wheat alternating apple sauce, pudding and soup for lunch and dinner I'm lucky to do 2 1/4 tsp. I use the pudding to take meds it slides down easier. The one thing I miss the most is drinking as much fluid as you want at one time. For further down the road has anyone tried making ice cream out of protein shakes. This might be a TMI but baby wipes for cleaning your bum is a blessing. Get the flushable ones. God Bless Kelly -
OMG Whats that smell?!?!?!
renee replied to w106fox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI alert!!! I prepared my husband for the smells before I had surgery and I'm a month post-op now. Incredibly, my poop never smells. I'm totally serious. I mean it smells a little, of course, but its nothing. I don't get it. Before surgery it was way grosser than it is now. I wonder why? -
Nausea and vomiting after 1 month VSG post op
xogipsy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Guys, I have a question ? So I am exactly one month post op and lately everything I get and drink makes me nauseous and sometimes or most times causes some vomiting. I am on the mushy/purée stage right now and I'm ALWAYS hungry. I am eating anywhere between 3-4 ounces of food. I am satisfied for a little bit but then I get super hungry again. I am almost afraid to eat cause I'm scared to vomit or feel nauseous. My question is did anybody else experience this. If so how long does it last and how can I prevent it ? I don't have an appointment with my surgeon for another week so I'm desperate for some help ! Lol also I know this may be TMI but my vomit is like a clear salvia with little chunks/pieces of food . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had some scrambled eggs for Breakfast with sauted onions and mushrooms...took forever (not more that 15 mins) to eat...very restricted. Had a can of albacore tuna for lunch and almost couldn't keep it down. I started my Water 30 minutes later and thought I'd have to make a hasty escape from the mens group I was running!! I laid off the water for about 15 more mins and all is well. I just had a Protein drink when I got home just cuz I was hungry. Tonight I'm going to do a dinner that I read out of a rotation diet book or some old diet thingy I did. chicken, yogurt and a few almonds with curry powder. I think there is something..oh some apples, but I don't think I can do the fruit so that may have to wait. My main meat will be fish, turkey burger, chicken, canned and regular and tuna. I can't imagine eating a solid meat right now....like steak or something like that. Feels very restricted. The client that put me on the idea of the pouch test sent me this for "day six" WHAT I EAT ON DAY 6. Here's a sample for ya: 8:00 - coffee w/SF creamer 10:00 - scrambled egg w/1 TBSP shredded cheese and 1-2 TBSP fresh salsa 12:00 (option 1) - 4 oz protein (fish, chicken, hamburger patty, etc.) + sliced tomato (probably 1/2 of a large) 12:00 (option 2) - 2 slices deli ham, 1 string cheese (easy when I'm on the run) 3:00 - SF pudding 6:00 - 4 oz protein (fish, chicken, etc.) + side of brocolli (or green beans) and sliced tomato 8:00 - SF pudding **Sometimes I add in 1-2 "Peanut Butter Protein Balls" for extra calories and protein. Even then, very rarely does my calorie intake go over 1000. I try not to do them too often because they tend to make me not poop (sorry TMI). Peanut butter protein balls is basically 2 cups of peanut butter, 1 cup of dry milk (nonfat), 1 cup

Newly sleeved 2.28.13
jacee replied to prettylittleheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nurse told me i can take a capsule of stool softner and that helped. Hello, Did you take a capsule or gel cap? Also what kind was it? Skip this line if your queasy TMI but a bowel movement at this stage of the game consists of liquid. Hey I am gratefull for that even. As it eases 3/4 of the worst of it for awhile. Out of 12 trips to the bathroom, I may be able to go 1 time. Its discouraging, cause its the only thing that helps. This too shall pass...I know..just wish it would hurry up. J -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
JackieV replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am feeling better everyday. I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone: stay on your stool softeners or miralax. Going into TMI, I had gone small tiny amounts a couple times since surgery, at one point I thought the "water" time cleaned me out. Today I had/have the mother of all constipation. No joke, hours, Some relief but I know the job isn't finished yet. Even if you think you are okay, take it as a precaution. I will never go a day without it again. -
StephC's PS journey/I got approved!!
StephC replied to StephC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Last night my dd and I got caught up in a show about gastric bypass patients who have lost weight and now going through full body lifts. Some of them had 3 and 4 surgerys. I couldn't watch some parts of it, the lipo totally freaks me out. If you watch it you'd understand why theres so much pain afterward. Its not like the dentist assistant who gently sucks the spit out of your mouth, they take that rod and ram it - ouch! Then when they are cutting off the excess skin, they just stretch and pull and move that stuff all around. It just seemed so rough to me. Sorry if this is tmi but even though it freaked me out I'm still going through with it and even during the show I clapped my hands and yelled I CAN'T WAIT!!! The results are amazing, just amazing - as we've seen on our lapband friends who've shared with us. I'm getting so excited! -

My thoughts, even with weight fluctuations, I see you as tiny in the OOTD photos. You are maintaining and it’s reasonable to enjoy the occasional indulgences. Is it weight gain? bloating/water retention? Insulin response? body image or TMI constipation? I have no idea. I’m older, I will never look like @ms.sss. I'll never have six pack abs. *laughing* You asked "Question for you...had you started weight loss shenanigans with food/sugar and booze at 137lbs?" The example in the photos is body composition. The link below will explain. https://8fit.com/fitness/weight-loss-vs-fat-loss/

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
nurse4126 replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did get one shot of lovenox. I then proceeded (this may be tmi) to have quite the rectal bleed. I feel Ike it had something to do with the hefty dose of Cymbalta I take. 90 mg. I refused the second lovenox. I’m a nurse and I was already bleeding all over the place! -
Thrush?!? Ughhh
thisisit replied to Jessiegurl2686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soooo I just went to brush my teeth before i went to bed.... And I'm pretty sure I have thrush! I brushed my tounge for 10 min and its still thick and white ... Siiiick anyone eles had this happen post op!!! Hi Jessica and YES, YES, I do have thrush. I am 5 weeks post op and was diagnosed at my 2 week follows-up. Excepting that, I had been very fortunate with no other complications or complaints. So, dr put me on Fluconazole. Within hours after starting that I went into a 9 day HORRIBLE time with explosive diarrhea (sorry, TMI). The drs office didn't associate my diarrhea with the fluconazole but instead blamed it on the fact that I was just starting puréed foods AND had had c-diff with a previous surgery. I was then put on a RX for Flagyl (to treat c-diff). Finally after testing clear for c-diff, I still continued taking the Flagyl and Culturelle as well as finished up the RX for thrush. Finally after 9 horrible days of the diarrhea it cleared up and I was able to go back to work last week. Then just yesterday I went back to surgeon for 5 week check up. I STILL have the thrush. So, this time they put me on the fluconazole and also a liquid oral treatment called nystatin. So took my first pill and mouth rinse last night and OMG, the horrible diarrhea is back again. I obviously now think this is from that RX. called my drs office this am and nurse told me to stop taking the rx and I'm waiting to hear further instructions from them. I want to get rid of this thrush, BUT, not with this diarrhea again. And, my initial tongue symptoms wee same as yours. I would make them check it, but, I sure hope you have better reaction to the treatment. Yuck! Good luck and let me know what you find out. ???? -
August post op sleevers: Check in
amazon replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I go in for my 4 week check up tomorrow. The only issue I've been having for a few days is unpredicable stomach pains (gas?). I *think* it's becuase I'm full, but it's happened at some odd times, i.e. when I haven''t had anything to eat or drink for a little while. The pains can be really unconfortable, making it hard to take a normal breath. If not all ready standing, I have to stand up and walk around. Lots of times I burp a few times, things grumble, and it eventually subsides but it takes a while. I've also noticed I have to eat less. For example, used to eat 4 oz of greek yogurt, or 4 oz of blended Soup. I can still manage the Soups (mostly), but with yogurt I can only get down 2oz before I don't want it and start to get a full feeling. Then I burp and say, that's it! I do eat very slowly, with tiny bites. I've slowed things even more, hoping it would help, but no. I'm hoping it's just that my stomach is healing and I'm starting to feel more. What's disconcerting is that when I get this pain, it's on the left side, just below the ribs, also up under ribs and left boob. I thought left side pain was potentially a problem...but I'll know tomorrow. I was really hoping I'd get moved on to the next food stage (mushies). Fingers crossed! Oh ,and to make things even more enjoyable - TMI warning - my visitor is back after only 2.5 weeks. sigh. Comes along with WLS I guess :-) -
Post-op Day 2: Today's Entertainment Brought To You By The Letter G
meloney posted a blog entry in A Year of Possibilities
So, today I am feeling a bit weird. Weak. Stoned (as one of my bandster friends said). Or like I just took some antihistamines. I think this is because I did not eat nearly enough yesterday. Not just protein, but anything. I wasn't hungry. I'm not hungry today, but I'm making myself eat. Frozen fruit pop, stock with protein added, jello. The doctor even said I can do yogurt at this point but, as I'm not a huge fan I would prefer not. I also did not get enough water in yesterday, so I'm having to remind myself to drink, drink, drink. Which leads me to the letter G. G stands for Gas. Yes, gas. I have gas. On surgery day, the gas was really noticeable. It made me feel like someone punched me in my gut (another G). As the days progress, the gas gets less, but it is still there nonetheless. Thus, I make a point of getting up and moving frequently. This results in some rather significant belches, followed by my utterance of another G: "That was glorious." I'm not saying this to anyone in particular, as I live alone. I'm not even saying it to my cat, who is very sad that she cannot climb up on my belly for cuddles. I simply say it because each large belch really is glorious. The not so glorious end of the gas is the farting. When I feel a fart come along, I must extricate myself from my bed and go to the bathroom because, more often than not and my apologies for the TMI, the fart is accompanied by diarrhea. Granted, this could be worse. My bathroom is only a few steps from my bed and the diarrhea is not of the sort that results in an RBA (raw, burning a**hole). So, as it is right now, I am accepting of the farting. Yet another end of the gas is the third G for today's installment: Gurgling. When I walk, I gurgle. When I lay, I gurgle. And when I drink, I gurgle even more. I have a veritable symphony of gurgling going on in my gullet. I should start laying some notes down on staff, that's how musical my insides have become. I am like Pooh Bear. There is a rumbly in my tumbly. Tomorrow, I am hoping for less gas and more feeling like myself. But for today, I will continue my Will & Grace marathon and enjoy the cacophony of sounds emanating from my abdomen. -
I had one on day 3 funnily enough they give me this little cup of what looked like white glue I asked what it was they said a laxative I said oh I went 2 hours ago, they told me to still drink it, it was gross. I wasn’t too bad for a while not every day or anything then second week in july worst experience everrrrrrrrrr! I won’t TMI you on the details but get some prune juice! I have been experimenting with it, how I am if I drink half a glass daily how I am if I don’t drink it how I am if I do every 2 or 3 days. Before you go the enema route try prune juice and get a packet of glycerine suppositories it could be as simple as the prune juice maybe a little more in the suppositories and if it comes to it then use the enema kit. I kicked off big time over my issue about the gp being crap and telling me to take things I am not allowed etc so I was told I can take the following f it happened again: Lactulose but if your lactose intolerant you may not want this (which I am) Movicol Psyllium Husks Thankfully I have never been at that stage again and my prune juice does the trick if I am a few days without. Hope that was some help!

Hello! I just had surgery on Wednesday Nov. 17th and let me tell you... I was not quite ready for the amount of care that I need! I would suggest that you find a place to stay with family that can be available when you need help sitting up and getting out of bed to use the restroom or keeping you on schedule with meds and fluids. I haven't been able to bend over so if my undies fall down, I need my hubby to help me out. When I first got home, I couldn't even sit down without assistance because it hurt so bad! Now, I can sit up on my own, sit on the toilet by myself and even wipe pretty well (still can't bend enough in the middle to wipe well if I have had a BM). I know.. TMI.. but I kinda of wish I would have known that it would be this hard! I am lucky that my husband has been here. I called my sister Saturday night and she came to "babysit" me and I made my husband go out with friends. I have a hard time accepting help from others and even after 3 kids- this is the first time my husband has had to wipe up anything because of me! Walking is painful and as much as I hate it, I try to do more and more each day so that hopefully I can get back to being me quicker! I hope I am not scaring you.. I am so happy about the surgery. Moving at first is most painful. I have not had anything but fluids for a week now and I am actually in good spirits and feel good. No hunger although my stomache rumbles all the time (pretty sure it is gas!). I really believe that this is the very best option for me and will allow me to have a much better life! I just have to give up a little dignity for a bit! I am going to give you my list of things I never thought I would have to ask my family for help with... but do. To wipe me after I peed. To wipe me after I had a BM. To clean up the dribbles off the toilet when the only way I could wipe was to stand up. To help me dry off each and every roll and between my legs when I got out of the shower. To put down a towel when I didn't sit far enough back on the toilet and ended up peeing on the floor. To change my undies because of the left over pee that I didn't get off. To empty my drain and strip the tubing so no blood clots would be there. To ask my hubby to put a pad in my underwear because my cycle is off. To have to pee at 3a and need to wake up my hubby to help me sit up and then stand. To change the gauze on my drain hole. To help me ensure my meds are on time and that I have plenty of protein options and fulids near me at all time. Again, I am very lucky and my husband is very supportive. It sounds like your family is behind you on this so you will want to figure out now where you can be for that first week that you are out of the hospital so that you can rest and stretch and walk and drink without having to over do it. Sorry if this is to much info.. just want to make sure that you aren't surprised later on! Best wishes!

Essentially the best means to relieve constipation is to get more fiber in your diet through whatever means you can. Food, your protein drinks fortified with fiber, fiber supplements and yes things like benefiber and etc added to your food. However if your bowel movements are normal but you just have a hard time with them, like its very hard to push them out (yes I known TMI) the a stool softener may be appropriate. Also make sure you get plenty of water in your system if that is the case.
