NSV "Non-Scale Victory"s are super important on this journey. When we become so scale focused it's very hard to not get frustrated by the numbers, so we can think about other things, some of mine have been zipping up tall boots, using a normal bath towel, and starting to jog without dying. Good luck =)

I had my surgery on the 3rd in Tijuana Mexico and I returned home to Oklahoma Friday night. I had a couple of NSV's just starting my trip out to San Diego. I was really concerned about taking a flight since I have never been on a large plane before. My father had a little Cessna when I was a little girl. 1) I was scared that the seat belt would not fit me and 2) I was afraid I would be air sick. I was so relieved that the set belt buckled on the first try and then I took to the air like a pro. I turned out being so comfy flying through the air above the clouds. I am so glad to be back home getting to know my new stomach and learning what it can tolerate. I am learning to take sips. Why is that such a challenge? I am taking this new life one day at a time. Was it worth it? Yes, Absolutely!

I get what you say about goals. I set goals for myself and work towards them. Its not the end of the world if I dont reach them, but if they are reasonable, I should be able to do it. I usually set 7 and 8 lbs goals because they are totally doable. I figure if I set small goals, the big ones will take care of themselves. Also, NSVs are the bomb even if the scales arent moving. I've been going to the gym regularly and friends say I look like Ive lost alot where I'm not seeing a huge change on the scales, I know that will come later. I just enjoy every victory I get. -

Any people with type 2 diabites had surgery?

Any people with type 2 diabites had surgery? Started by Heather Meyer, Today, 1:57 AM Heather I saw the title above you posted i said to myself, "are you kidding me?" soooooo many people here unfortunately are diabetic (me, me ) many, many, many people's diabetes improves post diabetes - less insulin, meds but............in my case and many many other sleevers - diabetes is just a horrible "memory" I no longer take medicine for diabetes my high blood pressure is now extinct i've had epilepsy since i was 16 (don't tell anyone, but that was 43 years ago, our secret ok ) maybe an NSV too, since i feel better about myself - i realize theres no reason to be ashamed of an illness i couldn't controll getting I'm almost always controlled with my meds (many people aren't controlled, so i'm lucky) as i was losing weight, my doc reduced my dosage of meds - then by the time i was 105 lbs down - my meds are now cut in half from what i used to take that is an unexpected WONDERFUL NSV its like a baby wouldn't take the same dose as an adult..........or someone who weighs 130 lbs, will take less meds than someone who weighs 235 lbs its like a baby wouldn't take the same dose as an adult..........or someone who weighs 130 lbs, will take less meds than someone who weighs 235 lbs oh dear, i'm talking about myself not you repeating, your diabetes should/will drastically improve - if not disappear your on your way to enjoy a healthier, happier, longer life!!!! enjoy good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy -
What a wonderful NSV. Congrats to you for finding normalcy. I like that phrase better than losing weight, weight loss, etc. Because that takes it away from the scale and numbers and puts it where it should be. It's about living our lives like everyone else. Good for you!!

NSV's 10 days out...my clothes are already falling off, I went to wawa and didn't get a soft pretzel (my favorite), most importantly? My dad said he wouldn't let me fail and he can already see changes in my body. -

I had 2 in one day! Yesterday I was standing in front of my gym waiting for my trainer & a truck with two guys drove by. They whistled & made kissy noises. Normally I would be disgusted but I burst out laughing when I realized they were doing it to ME! 2nd NSV was while I was working out - I had my hands on my hips and realized I could feel the bones without even digging my fingers in!! OMG, I HAVE HIPBONES!! Who knew? -

Hi, My NSV this week was that I jumped into my pool midday and just enjoyed myself and my evolving body in my bathing suit(which is getting to big ). Just happy! -
I am currently trying crossfit because a friend (RNY a year ago) is obsessed with it and there was a Groupon for the one near me. She wants to be a trainer. I feel like I'm not quite ready for it, because I have to be shown lots of stuff. But they haven't thrown me out, and I'm not giving up half-way through the class. And I can move the next day. I think the most telling NSV is one my Mom pointed out. We were chatting about crossfit and my Planet Fitness adventures and she said "Kathy, do you realize we've just spent 5 minutes talking about exercise?" LOL. NOT the old me at all! Kathy

I had my surgery in December..and go through phases when it comes to sleeping. I've always been a stomach sleeper. And was looking forward to sleeping on a SMALLER tummy! Once I was done healing (about a month out), I was more comfortable on my stomach again. However, I find I have switched to being a side sleeper. These days, that just feels right. I still sneak onto my tummy, but it just doesn't feel the same (go figure). i'm just SOOO glad I sleep through the night now (and with no snoring TYVM!). Before I had insomnia. Now, like a baby!! one of the beautiful NSV of the sleeve!

Hey y'all! I just scheduled my VSG for November 14th with Dr. Garcia in Mexico. I was wondering, what you're looking forward to or if you've had the surgery what the best nsv you've had is?? I'm looking forward to having kiddos! That's the main reason for getting this done! I'm also looking forward to smaller clothes(right now I'm a 28 pant), I'm looking forward to being lighter than my husband hes 240lbs I'm 350 :-( ), running in my companies annual race for awareness 5k, buying cute panties/bras, having my husband pick me up(he does it now but I'm always afraid I'm going to crush him), the list goes on and on! :-)

Went to the eye doctor and you know that thing you have to hold onto so they can look in your eyes? You know, where you have to put your chin in the rest, and keep your forehead on the bar? I remember having to hold on for dear life because my big fat self couldn't get my head where it needed to be. Well, no problem this time. I got my chin in the rest easily and there was plenty of room in the chest area because the big massive boobs are no longer in the way. Loving the normalcy that comes without being obese anymore. In fact, I went out to dinner with my family last week and my sister, who is very heavy, did not sit next to me as I expected she would. I realized she wouldn't be able to sit in that spot because it was too close to the wall and there wouldn't have been room for her so I slid over to that chair so mom and dad would be able to sit together on the other side of me. I fit in that space next to sis just fine and said a silent prayer that I didn't have to worry about table space anymore, or fitting into a booth, or fitting into a chair with arms. It's truly a wondrous thing! -
Oh boy can I appreciate your NSV Heccat. I was also needing new clothes and went shopping last week. I was wearing size 20 jeans and for the heck of it, I tried on a pair of size 14s. Well...no question that they were tight, but heck, they zipped up just fine. I was just standing there staring at myself in the mirror because I don't recognize this person staring back. I'm not thin....far from it. I still would like to see another 30 or so pounds gone. But when I started this journey, I was wearing size 26/28 which means I've dropped six clothing sizes. That amazes me...and horrifies me as well. To think I was that heavy....gosh...I never want to go there again.

What role does the Scale play in your life?
gamergirl replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so how often do you weigh? Second day of no scale for me! NSV takes on a new meaning -
Phew .... just caught up on the thread. Great to see all my old friends doing so well. Hi to everyone I haven't met yet. I'm sure you've already realised what a great bunch of people this is. NSV this week. I can do (unassisted) pull up. It's a real milestone in my training. 44 years old and I've never done a strict pull up in my life before. Very happy. Have a great day, Deano

I just thought i'd post because I had a total NSV today, I went shopping and found a cute pair of jeans that only had a size 20 left. It was one of those "lets see how much further I have to go" type moments and I put them on and they buttoned and fit PERFECTLY. I was jumping for joy. it's amazing how far ive come in such a short time and I want to thank everyone on here for your inspiration and encouragement. this surgery was definitely a blessing in disguise. I attached a picture of me wearing a size 30 and a picture I took in those jeans in the dressing room today
