My hubby just told me to stop losing weight!
Wls4me posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Never thought I'd hear that. He's been very supportive through all of this. I hit goal and lost another 5 lbs. I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs. my size 10 jeans are getting a little baggy. I'm happy where I'm at and am going to try to stop losing. But that was a very unexpected compliment for sure. Think that counts as a NSV. -
I think that if it were me (based on not knowing what you've already tried to do), I would print out a bunch of literature on the band and have him look at it so that he can better understand that for the most part, you'll be able to eat like a normal person, maybe no bread, etc, but still you can go out, etc. Anyhow, I don't know what you could say to a thinner person who doesn't really understand what you are trying to do for yourself, since they don't understand what we have to live with. I just hope that after your surgery when you start trimmin' down and having NSV's he'll see how happy it makes you.

Lately Ive been on a 3 week + no losing streak, and i was really starting to get depressed-i know I havent been eating right-even with my last fill-i was a chocolate spree, but I just havent been motivated to eat healthy. But Wednsday, i went shopping and actually fit into a size 22 pants(i started a 28/30), and the size I usually take was too big. I was SO excited! Then i tried on a few coats since my one from last year is HUUUUUGE. I fit into a 18/20! And not just that one coat-all the coats i tried were the same- a little tight, but the next size up was definatly too big...plus Ive always wanted one of those long sweaters, but i knew I'd look gigantic in it. But i got up the courage to try it on-it looked so good-if i dont say so myself=) So,Ive actually had 3 NSV's ! How exciting! I just had to share my good news with you all-since Ive been pretty depressed lately because I havent lost any weight for a long long time. Woowhooo! Sadly though I ended up spending a LOT of $$$! BTW-I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I somehow managed to eat a LOT of food lol..which i didnt mind-it was so good!=)

2 NSV's in One day? Could it Be?!
Heather Joy replied to Heather Joy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh, Sorry Ive been sooooo busy this week I dont know remember the last time I was here-probably the last post. LOL Thank you all for your encouragement (and praise!)!! Like I said I've been so down since I havent had any motivation-Ive been eating terrible! But with those NSV's--I have LOTS of nice new clothes-I went for more professional, pretty clothes this time instead of my usual "frumpy"plain clothes-I HAVE A SELECTION NOW! Isnt that so awesome when that happens? I was almost 300lbs at my top & in a 28(a little too tight-i really should have worn a 30-but those sizes are near impossible to find),now Im a 22/24...and there is just so much more to choose from-and I can take trying on clothes & looking at myself in a full length mirroe! Sorry,I just had to ramble-its the weekend & Im excited!! Thanks again everyone for the kind words!!It means so much to me:-D -
Awesome!!! I've gotta tell ya, with the whole weight loss journey - it's the NSV's that keep me moving along more than checking the scale. Keep up the excellent work!! Keep sharing your successes with us too! It keeps me even more motivated!

Surgery is coming up and im getting COLD FEET
LilMissDiva Irene replied to juzmejnee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi juzme, what you are feeling is completely normal. I'd be surprised to find a handful of folks who didn't feel even a little nervous going into surgery. It's a scary thing! Especially since all of us have chosen to do this ourselves - not because the Dr's told us we had to or else. Which in my opinion it should be the case. The sleeve has quite literally saved my life! Knowing this, It's just my opinion that I HAD to have this done. Do your best to keep your mind occupied on other things. Maybe bury yourself in a good book to get your mind going off in a completely different direction. Then when you get out of surgery and are lying around wondering what you will do with all your time, you can finish up the story.. LOL Also, maybe you can go clothing shopping online or in the store. Buy yourself a goal outfit!! Then one day when you fit into it and you realize it was sooner than you expected, you will have a really nice NSV to come here and tell us about. I know it's fun because I did this!! I had to go back out and buy the same pants two sizes smaller for a new set of goal pants. Wishing you well on your upcoming surgery!!! -
One of my big NSV is not being terrified of a camera...I had to make a conscious decision to not hide when photos were being taken. Was so glad I did! I even posed in a bathing suit!

Hand me downs...from my daughter!
scarbedazzles replied to mvickyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I understand how you want her to lose too. My girls would freak if I was suddenly smaller than them, but it's likely to happen unless they keep up with the boot camp I bought them. But.... congrats on that NSV!!! It's awesome to be better than we've been in years. -
Hand me downs...from my daughter!
newme-in13 replied to mvickyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!! I couldnt imagine wearing my daughters clothes, that had to really feel great. My 16 year old, on the other hand is a size 3, so the chance of that happening for me is pretty slim. (pun intended) Hey- but you never know, anything is possible Enjoy your NSV!! -
I was sorting through Bras. Frustrated at the new 38 long size. I thought this really puts my grundies in a bundle feeling as these things are not cheep!! Why do men have less expensive undies anyway? So I looked at one of my old faves and thought, I wish that there were 3 inches taken right out of the center of this thing. well I tied a knot into the center and sort of pondered. then I put the darn thing on and I am not kidding you. It fit really nice!!!! Ive spent 3 weeks trying to find a comfy fitting one and haven't found a thing. Now I am telling you the TRUTH!! It fit and I wore it all day and I just cant believe it myself and it looks sort of like a bow style swimsuit top!! Who would have guessed. I know I'm strange an cheep, but I think Ill try this on a few more of my undies!:guess  :omg:

Today when I returned to the office from being out of town, a co-worker stopped and said "wow. You look narrower from under your arms to your waist." For what that's worth?!? A bit of a 'different' compliment but I'll take it!

that's fabulous! Great NSV

So I was 451 when I first started my pre-op diet and I went to wal-mart to buy a scale and the maximum weight they went up to was 445lbs so I bought it and every so often I'd weigh myself at home and it said "ol" for over load or oh lord which ever you prefer (lol). But today I weighed myself and it said 442.7.....I'm soooo excited I measured myself twice just to be sure it was right and it Steal read the same thing.....this made my day let's celebrate with a fat free, sugar free, gluten free, popsicle!!

I know what you mean. I gained 3 lbs last week, but then I read the article posted in this thread about stalls and it all made sense. I did check my measurements and I have lost 18.5 inches so far. NSV. My husband tells me to stay off the scale, but it is so hard.
-
You can for sure do it!! I hit Onederland about two months ago and it's a crazy amazing NSV. You can totally do the 5K by then. I used the 5K Runner app on my phone and the voice talks you through the training while you are listening to Pandora radio. I highly recommend it. And don't feel pressure to jog the whole thing, I did 1/2 and 1/2 and that was HUGE for me. It all counts =)

NSV is Non-Scale Victory, any great weight loss related good thing that doesn't have to do with the nuber on the scale, ie: pants falling off, compliments...ANYthing personally victorious DH is Dear husband or Darling husband...dh is d*** husband!! or fill in the acronym! ROTFLMAO is Rolling On The Floor Laughing My A$$ Off SO is Significant Other or "unmarried spouse" CIB is Carnation Instant Breakfast drink I'll think of more... -
It's been almost 3 years and my 'top 3' haven't changed. 1) Waking up to a collarbone! 2) Having a sales lady call me small (Me, is she serious??!!! That's what I was thinking) 3) Trying on a size 6 GAP jeans and realizing they were too big. I got a size 4 and inside I was squealing like a four year old!!

@@Katcloudshepherd OMG poor hubby has been through the ringer you are his primary health care provider?? things must be very difficult for you too you've lost 121 lbs!!! might be a little easier to breath and move around helping hubby unexpected NSV maybe?? hubby needing oxygen 24/7, high blood pressure, many, many co-morbities many surgeries over the years it must be so hard for him and for you too having to be attentive to all his health needs (i'm sure you don't mind, but it must be draining/hard hopefully many of his ailments will improve or gradually disappear sooner than later he will "probably" have a difficult recovery the two of you will be standing hand in hand together standing very tall and strong being their for each other may the new year bring you both health and happiness good luck kathy -
dont get me wrong i am grateful for having the procedure. but there are moments i am so down. i have NSV and scale loss but just not enough even though im averging 2lbs a week. i might have to get off this foroum because i see ppl with larger amounts dropping and it is kind of upsetting to me makes me ask why am i not losing as fast. i am scared to wieght train because the scale will go up more and that will only freak me out. smh. i have good days where i am so happy and gitty and then there are these days where i dont feel progress. my daughter fussed at me and said mom you are you and just because someone is losing more dont mean you are doing bad. maybe i need to speak to my nut again and have her tell me again how im expected to lose 30lbs the first 3 months and i did in 2 months. so i guess i can look at it like in another 3 months i will lose another 30 which will put me an 60lbs in 6 months. ( light bulb over my head) lol. ok im breathing now lol
