  1. Wow. Some people really do amaze me. I've always had excess mucus. Doesn't matter what time of year it is or if I've been taking allergy or sinus meds, I've got it. I usually have to keep turning from side to side at night because I get so stuffed up that I can't breathe through one side of my nose. I personally think it's a genetic thing, since my mom has always been the same way. Although, meds with Guaifenesin (sp?) REALLY help, because it thins it enough that it drains easily. TMI, I know.

    BM changes post op--TMI

Agree with liquid in - liquid out....theory but there are enough solids in the Trader Joe's powder to make some sort of solid movement. If you use a stick mixer with either a banana of the white of an apple and beaten until liquid, there are enough of natures solids to ease your TMI

    New around here

Hi, it's nice to meet you. I feel like I need a cleanse, TMI but I've become so constipated that I'm taking stool softer once a week. Did you experience any thing like this?

    9/21/15 surgery

Well I have kept to the diet so far and that already is more willpower than I expected to have, haha! But I will say, when I am able to keep myself from thinking about how I haven't "eaten" anything, I'm not really as hungry as I expected to be. My shakes make my stomach a little upset, gassy and bloated (sorry if TMI) which I think also has helped to curb my appetite. My Nut doesn't have strict caffeine rules, so I'm living on coffee between meals, which always helps suppress my appetite. I will switch to decaf for next week How are you guys doing on your diet?

When you can't even be honest with yourself

I am always open, even if the problem is of a more personal nature like urinary incontinence. I believe in demystifying and taking the fear out of things that people see as too personal to share, if I think it will help another. I actually got a woman convinced to have WLS when I tearfully shared with her how happy I was when I could finally wipe myself clean after using the bathroom, thanks to the weight I had lost. I had no clue she was dealing with the same issue. TMI? In my opinion there is no such thing if what you are sharing is for the benefit and education of others. Our voices have been self-stifled for way too long. Had we been more vocal, perhaps insurance companies would have been more receptive to paying for the surgeries that many of us had to finance in order to save our own lives. On another note, I think is is kind of crappy that someone I know who has lost 170 pounds has people convinced she is some kind of amazing because she only attributes her transformation to diet and mega exercise. She's even started health forums and has quite a following. The truth? Gastric bypass 11 years ago. Will I call her out on it? No. She told me in confidence (after I saw her scars by accident) and it's not in my nature to be cruel. It makes me angry and I've lost respect for her because she could be giving hope to so many who will never lose and be healthy any other way than by WLS. But, we all can only be who we are, I guess.

    any word from Wheetsin?

Ahh Wheet, I missed the update. NO TMI, we need the details! Really, I am with LJM I have actually been trying to read birth stories because I am clueless on L&D! The only good ones I find where people go into detail are natural homebirths, which is not what I'm doing. I haven't signed up for any classes yet, I guess I should?? Like the catheter, no websites I have looked at mention the catheter, but my mom said if you get an epidural you get a catheter, and that was my biggest fear for banding (they ended up not doing it).. I am terrified of the idea of a catheter!! And episiotomies, so I hate to hear you had a bad tear.. you'll have to let us know how long/how well that heals. Anyway.. the natural delivery stories mention the mucus plug and bloody show, but no one talks about bowel movements--these are important things to know. How funny that, when I saw your post, I immediately scrolled down to see pics first (she is adorable!!) and one of my first reactions was "How did they get that bow to stay on her, surely it's not a barette!" Then I read your whole post, and the very end you mention the KY lol. She looks so small, and so pretty <3 Re: Catheter.. I have even posted about it in my blog around time of banding, that's how terrified I am of such things!
  7. To all the men reading this post just turn away....Ok to all my nortorious november ladies, i've got a question for you. is anyone else's cycle completely out of wack? tmi? i know, but in lieu of searching for a thread on the topic i thought i'd check with thoes i already know. the past 2 months mine is so completely off it's driving me nuts. i have heard tale of weight loss affecting your tom but i was just curious if anyone shared this delimma. i'm a woman of predictability. i like my coffe by 9, my kids to bed by 8:30, and my cycle every 28 days...so this is throwing a kink in my routine....and i'm not pg. already took a test...twice!

    Marchies In April

My husband asked me yesterday what I wanted for my first real dinner--I told him SALMON! Man, that does sound good. I'm sure it will be the best thing I ever tasted as well. I'm very anxious! Thanks for asking how I'm feeling. I've actually had a very hard week. I started exercising and just walked for two days for 20 minutes each. My muscles got SO sore, even though I stretched before and after. Well, the third day I was really sick, :sickprobably had the flu, and am still struggling with that. I wondered if it could be a band problem or a complication like an infection or something (chills like I've never had--teeth chattering for hours and shivering under two down comforters with a heating pad, horrible headaches, tiredness--I slept 20 out of 24 hours one day--and just terrible gas pains in my lower abdomen. Tonight I'm quite a bit better but still not 100%. At least I see improvement. Hope it wasn't all just an allergic reaction to the exercise!:phanvan Thanks for asking! I'm sure that's TMI!

    Carnivore?

The broad keto would be much better for you. It would be something that could be more easily maintained, and people would less likely fall off that because of less restrictions. The more you restrict yourself, the more likely you are to want to cave in. A lot of people can't process sugary foods, and you'll get sick if you try to eat too much. Once you are post op, your body will adjust to eating healthy things and want healthy things more often, so maybe you can indulge the sugar craving with something healthy, like fruit. Also, I agree with colormehappy. You NEED that fiber to go to the bathroom. Constipation is a BIG deal, and it SUCKS. I can finally eat veggies now with every meal, and my bowels are much happier because of it. (TMI, I know)

    Help!

Hi Everyone: I had my band put in on April 25th I have had two fills so far am due for another this Thursday. My port is on the left side of my bellybutton. I have had a great deal of pain on my left side in the tummy region but further to the back. I thought it was perhaps I hadn't had a BM but I had a really good one (TMI) today and it still really hurts. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this - its quite uncomfy. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Bandess
  11. I have read ((and heard from friends who had the surgery) that people with gastric bypass do not throw up, and that their stomach doesn't turn since it's a pouch now. I just ate something that didn't agree with my stomach. and I started foaming. The stoma was plugged, I believe due to a piece of egg due to improper chewing. I'll try better next time. After I spit out all the excess saliva, my stomach "turned" twice and it forced me to empty my pouch. I didn't get nauseated at all, it just kind of happened on it's own but my stomach definitely "turned" both times. Can someone please explain to me if this is common for gastric bypass patients? I'm sincerely confused about it all. I hope I'm connected alright & nothing went amiss in my surgery lol. Thanks!
  12. Oops! Apple juice sure wasn't my friend! It helped me have some (TMI) runs!

    Well this is about Sex

Greetings, I had the gastric sleeve on June 17th, and overall its going pretty well. I do have something that is becoming a bit of a problem. Since I can anonymity on here, I thought I'd ask. How is the sex drive guys? Mine is 1000 x increased. I begin every morning with some with my wife, I masturbate at least 2 x during the day, sometimes 3 (thank goodness I work from home), and at night we have sex. So on average that is 4x a day. Part of me is like this was better than when I was 16, 30 years ago. However, it is becoming a bit consuming. Anyone else have this issue? Is this normal? Does it last (I'm kind of hoping not to be honest)? Thanks. Sorry if it is TMI but it isn't something I really want to bring up with the nurse practitioner.

    June RNY buddies?

My inner nurse is coming out, and I want to provide a public service announcement to those of you who are about to have your surgeries. Remember that pain meds and anesthesia don't bode so well for your poor ole bowels. After you are done and headed home, have whoever is taking care of you get you some stool softeners. Take at least one per day, and don't let your bowels setup with concrete. I promise that it is impossible to strain to use the bathroom with the pains that will be in your bellies. I wanted to share the "tmi" so that you all can learn from my experience. I know i cant be the only one who has experienced this. 😖😖

    Holiday Challenge!

182.2... Kind of a lack luster week, although this is likely TMI I think it's because I am going to start my period:(

    Holiday Challenge!

273.4 I didn't post last week because I was mad at the scales! I had gained a pound due to some gruesome constipation (sorry TMI). But this week turned around & I'm feeling much better.
  17. I know this is TMI but since I had surgery Tuesday I couldn't release gas or make a bowel movement, as of today I haven't stopped! I'm so gassy and so much diarrhea! My stomach is constantly gurgling and rumbling lol! It's annoying! How long do u think this will take place! I'd like to sleep tonight! :/

    Bariatric surgery and dating

Since I've had my RNY, my bathroom excursions smell like lingering death. I have to use 'poop-porri' or whatever it is called, plus a spray. I dread going at work....thankfully I'm pretty regular and don't need to worry about it too often. I have always assumed it was because of the protein powder (I still use 15grams in my oatmeal every morning)..and the smells are somewhat similar sorry TMI. I hadn't seen a lot of posts regarding this, just a lot of posts about constipation or diarrhea...so I thought it was somewhat normal but it wasn't a hot topic lol. Now I'm wondering if there is something wrong with us :S
  19. Hey everybody I've switched over from pre forum to post. I had my surgery on Monday. I have some personal questions I can't find the answers to. First off, I am extremely mentally hungry. Like I could eat a whole pizza hungry. The food craving haven't gone away. I thought cutting out the stomach took away some of the hunger hormone? Next question: (TMI) I am very constipated. Merilax is not doing anything. What can I do?

    Post your daily complaint/gripe.

So we all know this life/surgery is not always sunshine and rainbows and I figured I’d make a thread for people to voice whatever is bugging them (related to surgery) that day... no matter how trivial it may seem. Sometimes it’s just therapeutic to vent. Sometimes hearing someone say, “oh I’ve been there, too!” can be helpful. My daily gripe? TMI alert Something made me throw up this morning. I think it was the iron pill I’ve recently been told to take. But ya know what really grinds my gears about this? The taste of the iron pill after throwing up the first time made me KEEP throwing up. Awful, awful, awful!
  21. Very embarrassing ... let's just say I was ah hem ... "wrestling" with my husband. I must have turned the wrong way or something and tore the cartilage between my upper ribs on my left side. :001_cool: But on a positive note, if you are gonna get hurt - what a way to do it! :confused1: I'm in a rib brace right now. The pain is tolerable, but I'm limited in motion while it heals. Hopefully next week things will be healed enough that I can do the treadmill flat & then start progressing to inclines. Too much TMI?
  22. OK folks...... My stall lasted exactly one week. Here are my stats: pre op diet one week starting weight 215, - 8lbs Surgery date 2/28/11 wk 1 post op, - 5.5 wk 2 post op, - 4 wk 3 post op, - 0.5 wk 4 post op, - 5 wk 5 post op, - 2 wk 6 post op, - 3 wk 7 post op, - 2 wk 8 post op, - 3 wk 9 post op, - 3.5 So far this week, - 2lbs, my official weight in are on Mondays Total 38 lbs Here's my day.... rarely eat carbs. Always get tons of Water in each day (I'm drinking constantly). I get at least 3 hrs of cardio in per week (nothing overboard, swim laps and lite weights), Always eat my Protein first and i've never still been hungry for carbs afterwards (total full, no more room at the inn). I start everyday with a 30 gram Protein shake (no added sugar from fruit). I get most my protein from meat products and rarely from dairy. I keep my calories around 500-700 per day. My "rare" indulgances have been a glass or two of white wine but only on days I exercise. I have not ever gained or stalled during TOM (I think the extra water i'm drinking helps that). For a salty snack I eat Pistachios (20 = 80 cals). As you can see, i'm not pulling huge numbers (this isn't the biggest loser) but i'm somewhat consistant. If you have more specific questions like my actual daily diet let me know. At two months out its pretty simple. I like salt more than sugar so the high protein diet is easier for me than maybe if I was a sugar person. Even at 215, I rarely ate sweets CAUTION: TMI moment You must get Fiber in some how. Nothing will stall my weight loss quicker than stopped up plumbing. What ever works... please make sure you are having at least 2 or 3 BM's a week minimal. (I sound like my mother).

    December sleevers!

I bought a few smaller summer dresses last summer at yard sales, we are talking dirt cheap so if they are too big/small they wont be a loss. I have been doing the 6 month doc visits so i new my appt was going to be Nov or Dec so i put myself on a NO clothes shopping rule. Dont know where you live Cutie 11 but most consignment stores LOVE getting plus size clothes. They rarely get any good stuff is what one lady told me. The thing with plus size clothes is people usually wear them out, cause it is so hard to find nice clothes that FIT. I have a lot of lingerie from Fredricks and LB (TMI?) that i am hoping i can sell on Ebay or Craigslist, so i can shop at Vickies Secret (YAY) So if your worried about all the $$$ for new clothes try that!. I already have some ironed creased and in a garment bag ready to go!!

    Exercise & Pre-op Diet

    *Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)

@Maccurdyerica You are most welcome. After all the help this site has given me, I am happy to have had the chance to help someone else. I will add that in addition to strictly following the "sleeve" eating plan, I was lucky enough that I worked from home. This is probably TMI, but I spent the winter working in a sports bra and pair of shorts. About every hour, I would be freezing again and would run down to my exercise bike and do a few minutes to warm up. At first I could only do 5 minutes and I worked my way up to 10 minutes every hour. I'm sure that helped keep my metabolism up. Good luck!
