RJ has moved to the next step for herself!
NMJG replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go RJ! I started with a trainer this month, too. It's so worth it. Just finished my third week. Sometimes I think I'm going to die it's so hard, and then I'm frustrated because I'm not losing lbs. on the scale. But, lots of NSV's: My lean body mass was only 100 lbs. (out of 211) last spring, and now it's 111 llbs. I gained 10 lbs of muscle since then. Yay! I'm not nearly as flabby and there are actually muscles under there that have been dormant for a decade I can lift and move things that I couldn't before. I don't feel nearly so helpless as I did Best of luck to you in this program. You can do it! -
Wow - you look fabulous - way to go!! Do you have a favorite NSV??

The last time I took my Lisinopril and HCTZ was Tuesday (the day prior to surgery). Post-op in the hospital every time they took my blood pressure, it was respectable and very close to normal. I had asked if they were giving me my blood pressure meds and they said no - they hadn't given me anything because my vitals were strong. Say what??! So, being a bit overly cautious with my new gogo gadget toy tummy, I talked to my general MD today who asked me to come in ... and ... *drum roll!!* she took me completely off all my blood pressure meds!! Here I am 2 days post-op and already kicking meds !!! The only requirement she gave me was to check my BP a couple times a day and if it goes up then to only take 1/2 tablet. I'm so excited to see that happen so quickly!!

Totally agree! One of my neighbors was telling a new neighbor about how much weight I had lost. The new neighbor wa congratulating me with out trying to sound rude, but it still came out much like that! NSV, great job! Karen..aka.kll724

This weekend, my family went to Winthrop, WA - it is set up as an Old West Town. We decided to do the old antique pictures. We've done these every 3 or 4 years since the boys were young. Normally, I have to wear some old dowdy thing to either fit me or not show all my rolls. And, the strings in the back never tied very well - left my butt hanging out the back. This year, I wore a Saloon Girl Bustiere and fishnet stocking with high heels. And get this ... the strings wouldn't tie again. But, not because I was so fat. The strings couldn't get the outfit tight enough. They had to use clamps in the back to keep it on me. It was amazing! I just grinned the whole time. I planted my butt up on the bar, grabbed my fake bottle of Jack Daniels and whooped it up for the camera. WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling discoraged july sleever
RyanSleeve2014 replied to cchapman6's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today was "Weigh-In Wednesday" (that's what I call my weekly weigh in) and, just like clockwork, 3 WEEK STALL!!! Literally exact same weight as last week (344.2). I planned for this so I am going to do measurements and photos later to remind myself of the NSVs, but man, it really is disheartening. I know it will pass, but it's the first break in momentum post surgery, so it's a little bit of a reality check. I a, so thankful this board is here to have warned me about it!! I would probably be losing my MIND right now if I wasn't prepared!!! -
From the album: 4th Month Post-op
Big NSV for me: my grandmother put aside this ring when I was born. It was given to me years ago after she passed. This is the first time I can actually fit it. -
I am excited about my NSV today! I suggested a motorcycle ride to my hubby this morning since it was such a nice day, just a little cold (38F). :tt2: So, I put my leathers on and... Yippee! I can actually put on my chaps all by myself! Previously, I had to have hubby "dress" me and it really took some doing to get that leather zipped around my thighs! I had to have a 4" extender for the waist and that is now gone! I can now "dress" myself!!! I got the chaps on and tried on my hubby's leather coat, it fit too! It was a GREAT ride!!!

Dknal2 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello fam, just a Lil update on my life . 7 months post op. I was sleeved Dec 5. I am officially divorced now. I am happy n really enjoying me in this new bod. The surgery wasn't the reason for my divorce ,my husband was a caterer cheater , lol. But the surgery made him feel that now I was a threat in the marriage because I was getting attention . But it was his insecurities n lied that kept him from appreciating the woman he had. So , hell with him, I'm single as a dollar bill now. I am 7 mos post op and down 90 lbs ( 89.7 to be exact). I weigh 153 lbs and I am 5'7. I now wear a size 4 in women's clothing and even fit into size 2 Vera wang dress today, NSV for me. My surgeon set my goal at 150 lbI feel so good about the choice I made to have this surgery and I would do it 10 more time if I had to. Enjoy the pics and good lock to everyone .- 63 replies

That's such a cute story lol! Great NSV! -
Heyy guys! I hope everyone's doing well! I have good news! It may not be much but I'm super excited so i'm sharing!! So for a while now I've only been wearing leggings because my old size 24 jeans had been slipping off so much and became impossible to wear. Anyway, even my leggings (3x) became too baggy for my liking so I decided to go shopping! I was at costco and they had these cute leggings with pockets that I loved but the only size left was an XL and they also had these turtle neck shirts that are really cute and only $5 but only had an XL as well so I got them both thinking that I could probably wear them in a month or two when they'd fit. I also went to the mall and got two pairs of jeans, a 16 (that I thought would BARELY fit) to wear now and a 14 to wear in a couple months. When I got home I tried them all on, including the size 14 jeans I bought for later and GUESS WHAT! They all fit perfectly!! SO EXCITED!! 😁 (sorry for the cropping and coloring my room's a mess and so are my toes 😂 😬)

Good for you Josette!! I didn't want to let any of my family know I had the surgery, but unfortunately, mom and dad and hubby spilled the Beans. Pretty much everyone I've even known is now aware that I have the band. LOL!! I feel like a walking billboard for lapband surgery. Just today I saw my Uncle and cousing for the first time in a couple months. The first thing they said is, "So how much?" I told them and they were so happy for me. At least my family is really supportive. They aren't looking at me like, "is that it?" I did notice that, although they don't say anything, they do watch everything that goes into my mouth. I had coffee and put a teaspoon of sugar in it and my uncle asked why I didn't use sweet n low. I told him I don't like sweet n low, I like splenda and there isn't any here. I had to explain that a teaspoon of sugar isn't gonna ruin everything. Oh and I had a really good NSV today. I finally fit into my favorite pre-baby jeans! I started out at a size 30 and these are a 22! A 22!!! I almost died when I buttoned and zippered them without a problem!!:clap2:

OVER 200lbs lost never to be found
rabrijumo replied to rabrijumo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks all! I am glad I could inspire anyone. One tip I would say to everyone but especially those who have a lot to lose like I did- focus on the life style changes, making improvements to the non wt loss number issues! I could easily revert back to the bad habits of eating to comfort, over eating food and sweets especially if my wt loss stalls. Wt loss WILL STALL, it's the nature of the beast. So the nsv or non scale victories and changing life long habits are a much more emotionally satisfying focus and keeps you moving forward then scale obsession. Good luck all! -
And the fanfare fades...............

I find myself missing the NSV'S and the attention. I didn't really like being the center of attention then. This is the new me and it has been quite an adjustment. -
That's great, Ozroo! I hope you can resize your pretty bracelet so you won't accidently lose it. Ahhh, time for new shoes for you. Congratz on your NSVs! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Everyday is a honeymoon for me! Oh, wait, you are talking about weight loss. Those nsv's honestly mean more to me than the scale.

Hey everyone...i'm about to be banded soon (may 4th) and since summer is starting and i am starting to sweat....lots. I was wondering if any of you have had NSV's in this department. Sweating less?
-
My immediate staff coworkers have known from very early on that I was banded. But there is a volunteer that comes is once a week. (I work at a church). She said that I looked like I had lost weight. She is the very first one that noticed. When I said 30 lbs, she was astounded! She said since the last time I saw you? (No, she saw me last week.) However, when I admitted that I had WLS, she was aghast! She had only heard of GB and thought I was nowhere near overweight enough to do that. When I explained what it was all about, she was relieved and very interested. That was just ever so cool!

My Scale Victory Today . . .
SanDiegoPhotog replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes. I do have one NSV . . . thank goodness. I have to go to a wedding tonight and I have been putting off buying something to wear because I was dropping weight so quickly. All of my dressy clothes are too autumn-ish, so I headed out to the mall today. Well, instead of buying the 2x dress, I bought the 1x!!!! That was very nice! It should last me a little while if I have anywhere else to go, otherwise . . . who cares??? LOL! So, I put on the spanx to minimize the belly, and surprisingly, it feels really good. I thought it might hurt my surgery areas, but it actually kind of binds everything and decreases the areas where I was feeling just a teency bit uncomfortable. Cool! -
How funny, I realized the same thing when getting myself out of the bathtub! I can feel my whole spine now when I roll myself up! NSV are great! I remember last year when I couldn't even paint my toes!

What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
tamg26k posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For me, I recently took a trip and was able to fly without a seat belt extender. In fact, I really had to tighten up the seat belt. This is really big for me because I love to travel but I always had anxiety about flying. Now I have 3 more trips planned over the next 6 months. My treat to myself for my weight loss. The money I am saving by rarely eating out has made this possible! I guess that is 2 NSVs!
