  1. Yeah...Honestly I have been amazed at these first 10 days and how well the surgery went. I am looking forward to a great future! Good luck...You will be fine!
  2. How long before you were able to kick BP Meds to the curb? I have been on them about 10 years and have had some really low readings at times since surgery. I also suspect they create a little weight gain. Looking forward to being off these in the near future!

    Energy

Though not quite as far out as you, I still have issues with energy & low blood pressure. I seem to feel weary more quickly than I did before surgery. And no it’s not a lack of fitness weary. I’ll be out doing chores or something & than suddenly think, nope had enough. Can’t do anything else at the moment. It’s hard to describe how it feels. It’s certainly not debilitating. I’m not puffing. My heart’s not pounding. Just feel weak. Sometimes just sitting for 5/10 minutes is enough & I’m right to go again. Is this how you feel? The postural low blood pressure is just something I live with though it’s probably not quite as bad as it was. Maybe a 25% improvement in the last couple of months. I’ve always had a tendency to low blood pressure & when I’ve been slim before (in the 60kg range) I would have the vision loss & slight light headedness on standing a few times a month versus the several times a day I have it now. My GP prescribed a medication for low blood pressure but it did not help at all. I do all the sit up & stand slowly & wait before walking but it doesn’t really help. I sometimes bend over so my head is below my heart. Friend the deep breathing thing too but they don’t really help either. I just make sure I have a wall or furniture I can grab when it hits so I can ground myself. I’ve also be known to grab onto friends - in a non sexual way of course lol! Hope someone has some ideas too.
  4. Surgery date was 2/24 Traditional Duodenal Switch. One of my Incisions hurts like a B**** it usually hurts the most when I stand up and make certain movements. The only Relief I get is if I hold up my stomach with my hands from the bottom. It's not infected and my Dr has already seen me and told me it was the Incision where alot of Muscle and Nerves blah blah and I won't start to feel any pain relief for another week (this was 3/1) I had the Sleeve done in 2014 and never had this type of pain. Please tell me I'm not alone and tell me you had similar experience and there is a light at the end of the Tunnel very soon! My pain level is a 9-10 btw and I have high tolerance for pain. February 2021 bypassers?

I am also in the same position as you @MissSmartyPants and @ThisMomOf5. I had surgery 2/23 so am just over a week post-op doing the clear liquid stage. I've had some gas pains and incision pain but as far as drinking water and other fluids go, I haven't noticed a difference in my ability to get them down. There was one day (when I had my first BM) when I was overall nauseous but other than that I really don't have trouble getting fluids down. Protein shakes are a little different but I am also just so over them that I don't mind only drinking 1/2 at a time. My weight loss has been pretty ok so far (down 10 since surgery and I lost 15 during pre-op). I have my check up tomorrow and will see what my doc says.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I am six days away from surgery as well! my surgery is on March 10. I am struggling with the liquid diet as well, and feeling hungry. I hope I won't be as hungry going on the post-op liquid diet!
  7. I actually switched surgeons because of that exact situation. They wanted me to go 10 weeks before an appointment with him. Id met with the shrink, and nutritionist twice, and still no surgeon. Wasn't going to work for me. Had an appointment with another surgeon in a few days, and 10 weeks later, I had surgery.
  8. I am scheduled for a mini gastric bypass March 12th. I started off with sleeve 2011 and then I had a revision 2018 a resleeve Gastric sleeve plication. I did not loose a lot of weight the second time and gained back the weight I lost . When I started in 2011 I was 235 got down to 149 with sleeve and then gained I got up to 187 when I decided to do the revision in 2018 day of sx I was 177 I lost like 10 pounds with the revision. I have to admit I was warned that with a resleeve it’s not successful on most patients but I did not listen. Now I’m 193 and I want to get back to 155 if possible . I heard good thing about the mini bypass! Please share if you can!
  9. Hi everyone, I had gastric sleeve 10/16/20 the day of surgery I weighed 213 5'3", I'm currently 165. I do struggle getting in all of the protein needed. Does anyone have any protein drink/powder recommendations? The premier protein drinks aren't sitting as well with me as they used to. Open to any feedback on what works protein wise for you, including foods. Thanks in advance 🙂

    Anyone for October 2020?

Sleeved 10/16 5'3" starting weight was 213 day of surgery, currently at 165. I also need to find ways to incorporate more protein and drink more water. My hair is falling out like crazy, that started about 3 to 4 weeks ago although it does seem to be slowing down a lil bit. My multivitamin also makes me nauseous so I make sure to take it right before I fall asleep so I sleep it off at night. How's everyone else currently?
  11. I'm 10 days post sleeve gastrectomy and have horrible pain in my left underside ribcage.  Still on liquid diet, so know it's not cheating!  Haven't had good bowel movement since surgery!  Do you think I need milk of magnesia to relieve no bowel movement?  Thanks.

NO!!!! Drink water and take a stool softener. Your meds are plugging you up. With the pain med I took one pill of Pantoprazole to help mitigate the med effects. The pain is normal. In about 2 weeks it will almost go away but if you are concerned see your doctor. I just got out of that faze. Let me know if you continue to have issues.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I have to be at the hospital by 8am so my surgery will probably be around 10 am. I’m still in the OMG phase lol
  13. Still in the process myself but I think it's safe to say that both my husband and I were scared and skeptical for years when it came to talking about me possibly having it. And we both only really thought about it because my family doc kept suggesting it after years of seeing me trying everything under the sun and nothing working. When we first got together in our teens (he was 19 I was 16 and now......I'm 48 now and he's 53) he was under weight and I was at a nice normal weight but I always thought I was heavy. Despite being able to wear sexy clothes and fitting in a size 4, I still thought I was heavy. I guess mostly because I WAS heavy growing up but sorta slimmed down between the ages of 12 and 16. How and why, I have no clue. It just happened. But come age 19, that's when the weight gain started for me along with the other health and hormonal problems (i.e., PCOS, Endometriosis, Insulin Resistance). Anyway, over the years the weight just kept creeping up on me despite trying many diets, exercise programs, etc. He gained too but did not become overweight. His weight gain actually resulted in him finally being at a normal weight. LOL But either way, he NEVER EVER said a harsh word to me about my weight and as for sex, even despite having gained all this weight over the years, you wouldn't know it. The dang man STILL wants it ALL THE TIME. At least like once a day!!! LOL Me on the other hand my drive is non existent. And I blame the weight on that. Despite him telling me every day that I'm beautiful, he loves me, and that I "turn him on", I just don't feel that way about myself. I am so damn self conscious that I NEVER let him see me totally naked. Well, at least not standing up and walking around. LOL I don't want to say those words he says mean nothing, cause they do, they actually mean the world to me, it's just that they still don't change my own mind about myself no matter how reassuring they are. Ya know? I still feel like I look a mess regardless of what he says. Not in the face but in the body. IMO Anyway, he is totally up for me doing whatever it is I need or want to do to make myself feel better about myself and more importantly, to keep me healthy and around for a long, long time for him. So, that's pretty much where we are. As for the sex part, I surely do hope this sex drive of mine comes back once the surgery is done. I think and feel the world of him too, and find him highly attractive as well and I hate that I keep turning down his advances a lot of the time when this sh*t sex drive of mine has NOTHING to do with him. It gets tiring constantly trying to convince him it's truly NOT HIM and that it's totally all me/my body/hormones (and sadly my last blood work showed that I'm not near menopause yet so can't blame that either....lol). I seriously feel bad that he feels at times that I don't find him attractive cause that's really not the case. I LOVE that man!!
  14. I hate to even tell this but for folks thinking about backing out, I hate the pre op diet,Is it worth it? Will it work ...etc. I need to tell my story of the last 7 days. Surgery day(2/23) to me was like a blur. The worst part of the day and night was the gas and thirst.TAKE DRY MOUTH SPRAY TO THE HOSPITAL, THIS WAS A GAMECHANGER FOR ME!! I was able to burp the gas out almost 100% before I was discharged. I have not had ny trouble getting my liquids down and really just not had any pain to speak of. I didn't have a BM until a short while ago and that was painful. Like passing a couple of big rocks OUCH!! I took stool softenors, maybe I should have taken more. I went to the doctor yesterday to get some meds refilled. The last time I was there was 1/25/21, 5 weeks ago. I had lost 26 pounds! The nurse said are you losing weight? I said I don't know...am I? She gets all excited and then I told her I had WLS surgery last week.I will say I am fatigued, tired and not much energy. We have a nice gym nere at the condos and I want to go do some 10 # dumbells but too lazy right now. I will get some in today sometime. Do not be afraid to have this surgery. I also had a lap band removed the same day which complicated the surgery but still no pain and now no hunger. I honestly believe I can hit my goal weight in 6 months. 81 pounds in 6 months...if it comes faster or longer I am ok with that too. This has been a great ride so far and I have accepted the change in lifestyle. I have hated to have my picture made for years, you know the tricks, get in the back or between people so that only your head shows.. In a few months that story will change! Do not hesitate to have this surgery. It will change your life for the better!

    February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Had my surgery on the 23rd. Everything went well. First 24 hours were a bit rough, but now I'm doing okay. Walking 2-3km everyday since Thursday, getting most of my water and protein in. Still sleeping in a recliner, but hoping in the next couple days to move back to my bed. On strained thin liquid diet for 10 days, then smoothie consistency liquids for 10 more days, then purees for the next 10. Hate every protein shake I've tried, so I've been putting unflavored protein in my soups, broths, yogurts and that's been okay. Think I really hit ketosis today because my breath is awful and the taste in my mouth is so, so bad even right after brushing my teeth. Oh, weighed myself this morning for the first time and I'm down 13.8lbs from surgery--YAY!
  16. Congrats on your transformation..You are looking good! You must be in S MS. I moved down to Gulf Shores 10 years ago this month.
  17. We are almost identical!!! Surgery 10/15 weight in 222 current weight 179.6. I swear I’m loosing inches more than weight! Eating around 700 calories. Feeling great. Only thing I can’t seem to keep down is my Multivitamin. So I’m back on the flint stones. My Hair loss is scaring me! I’ve been pretty active try to do full body workouts 3 times a week and cardio 2 times a week. I feel like my energy levels are really good good right now. Still wake up nauseous pretty much everyday. Started introducing alcohol I thought it would effect me more. Can drink about a beer and a half and it doesn’t do anything to me. The other day we went out to dinner came home and then decided to walk to a pub by the house and had a whole mojito that made me a little dizzy. Dropped from size 16 to a 12 YAY!!!!  Noticed I’m not drinking as much water need to make sure I stay on top of that.  Low sugar levels!!! It’s happed twice already where my sugar level dropped that does not feel nice, but I know why it was because I skipped breakfast.  So just need to make sure I eat even if it’s a protein bar.

    Cereal

So we got the Magic Spoons today and here is my honest opinion. I bought the four box set and almost choked when I paid 10 bucks a box for breakfast cereal, but everything protein is high and I am starting to get use to that. I also eat such small amounts this is enough cereal to last me two months or more, probably more than two months so it really isn't that bad in the big scheme of things. I have never been a super big fan of cold cereal but I am sick to death of eggs right now and needing to change things up a tad here and there, it isn't low calorie but I am not counting calories right now so thats not an issue. I tried the fake fruit loops in almond milk and they stayed pretty crunchy, they tasted pretty close to fruit loops, they do get a little gummy when you chew them really well, I am a texture freak and that is a little different but as far as a high protein food low carb fake fruit loop I give them a 7.5 out of 10. My hubby tried the frosted O's and gave them an 8 out of 10. I am not going to say everyone will love them and I will not eat them every day for every meal but they make a sweet crunchy breakfast when your sick of eggs and the protein is high, carbs are low and the taste is pretty good

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I am scheduled for March 10 for VSG. Excited and anxious at the same time. Started the liquid diet yesterday but I feel very hungry all day. I hope this improves. Good luck to all.

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Does anyone feel like they are going to burst with anxiety / excitement / nerves - whatever this is? I am not till the 10th and yet today when I looked at my phone and saw March - I think reality hit. I have been having jitters all day - might also be from the liquid diet but I think it is looking at the calendar and seeing March!!! These next 10 days are going to be hard.

    December 2020

I started my journey 351 lbs on 1/01/20 and when I had surgery 12/2/20 I weighed 302 lbs. So -107 lbs in 14 months, but -58 lbs since surgery on 12/2/20.

    December 2020

It has been quiet and I guess I've not posted much either. I was fortunate to have someone that was about my age and size that had the surgery and walked this journey 2 years in front of me. I've also been texting a with a guy from our group that again, about my size and had the December surgery. The process is so unique to each of us as individuals that sharing experiences is great, but the drive and passion absolutely come from within. I feel like i know when I am doing well way before my scale says so. I am losing the weight as planned, walking/ jogging on treadmill 5-6 times per week and eating fairly well. When I deviate from the food plan, I know it comes with risks of my stomach disliking it (milk/ red meat) and even having a 1-2 day weight gain because of those choices. I've dabbled with alcohol, albeit, maybe 1-2 glasses of red wine from time to time and have had no bad side affects. Yesterday when I stepped on the scale in the morning and saw 244.7 lbs. I was very happy and declared yesterday a cheat day. I didn't go wild, but I made a small dish of my favorite nachos and ate about 1/3 of a box of whoppers. Didn't feel guilty in the least, but I made sure to get up this morning and put my 20 minutes of walking/ jogging in with 10 minutes of resistance bands. I'm not perfect by any means, but I am dedicated to the process and make sure that with each speed bump (planned or unplanned) that I follow it up with some good decisions to even things out. Fearing that I turn one cheat day/ bad day into 2 or 3 is my drive to stay focused. That's my 60 days post surgery story, what's yours?

    Protein

Even though I’m still having hard time drinking protein shakes How make premier latte smoothie with frozen fruit in nutribullet I’m not sure it will help me 19 day post op gastric sleeve surgery I’m worried that I’m not not drinking protein shakes because I can’t
  24. Coexister

    No restriction

I totally get you! I am 4 months out from a revision from sleeve to roux-Y-gastric bypass to address GERD /Heartburn/Reflux and ever since I have had the surgery I have had no restrictions once so ever. I can eat foods that I was not able to with the sleeve, I have no dumping issues, no problems once so ever with foods and I don't get the sensations of fullness that I got with the sleeve and it scares the crud out of me! I lost most of my weight with the sleeve and then more when I did the pre-op diet and then lost another 10 after surgery. I am currently stalled for the past 3 months but am only 9 lbs from goal weight. I fluctuate 9 lbs up and down depending on whether I have moved bowels or not, LOL - you guys get that. I track my foods and keep thinking I need to go back to the beginning and back to only eating around 800 or 600 calories if I want to lose that additional 9 lbs but I am having a tough time doing that. Probably if I go back to basics and do the pre op for two more weeks, I could achieve this but not sure I could maintain. It is just so frustrating to not have the restrictions. I am pleased that I am 16 lbs smaller on average then I was on the sleeve but I worry for how long will this last? And when I do eat instead of getting a warning that I am about full, I get a very sharp painful feel when I eat too much and I never know when that will be. But I definitely can eat more not that I am trying to overeat. I do try and control my amounts but at times find that I have eaten more than I planned and then I get mad at myself. I get jealous of the ones that talk about dumping and how their bodies reject things and wish mine did this as it seems like a great control and that their tool works better than mine? It amazes me when they talk about only being able to eat a couple of bites and being full as this seems so foreign to my body? So you are definitely not alone in this!
  25. Just had my Gastric Bypass on February 23, 2021 and also gained left the hospital 10 lbs. heavier. Some people can hide the fluid retention better than others. My legs, ankles and feet were very swollen. On the 27th, I finally started losing the excess fluid. It takes a few days but it does start to come off. Best wishes for you on this journey!
