  1. The pregnancy is a bit depressing. I worked so hard to lose the weight; I am really struggling with my growing belly... which REALLY upset's Dr. C. He said "I remember when you came in here and this was all fat... now it's all baby". I am so tired of people asking if it's twins... No I'm just fat! While I'm very fortunate not to have gained any weight. I already look like I have a basketball in my stomach and I'm only 10 weeks. The comments from my co-workers etc... is very disheartening. :( On a positive note... 8 lbs is FANTASTIC! Congrats! You are doing so wonderful. I will keep my fingers crossed and you in my prayers about your weight loss prior to his birthday party. Are you exercising? What are you eating? How are you feeling aside from the adjustment discomfort/sickness? I hope you are doing great and look forwarding to keeping in touch!

  2. Hey girl…I know it has been like forever. I am sure you are well in to the 30 or 40 pounds gone by now ;-). I on the other hand have finally gotten restriction as of a week now and am only down 22lbs total. I am so hoping that I will start to see a big difference. I had been struggling with the exercise as well between work, school and traffic but made sure I got at least an hour of cardio/weight lifting 3 times a week. I am taking a 2 week break before my next class starts so I have been doing some form of cardio everyday…even decided to try hiking...hehe. We definitely need to meet up…maybe on a Saturday we can go for a walk or something and do lunch. PG county has so many parks with trails and paths. I hope you are doing well and have restriction. I went to the doc yesterday and passed on a fill…its weird but all of a sudden I am tight and loving it…lol. Wait till u see us next summer ;-). Talk to you soon.

  3. Hope your surgery went well. I had mine on January 12, 2009 and started at 288#. I'm now down to 215# and feel great! I had high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, back pain, and pre-diabetic. It all went away! I'm telling you all this, because I remember the first six weeks are the hardest and had to keep reminding my self why I did it. Just remember its a journey and this is just a tool. You still have to workout and exercise. If you have questions let me know. Every week it gets better and better.

  4. Hey,

I seen we are going to be banded on the same day. I think a blog will be a great idea and I will do my best to get mine started soon. I am with you about the pre-op diet, however I started mine a week early and I have already lost 6lbs. That is motivation. Lets keep in touch. :) Amanda

  5. Good luck tomarrow, I hope all goes smooth. I went today and was put on the 1200 cal. diet, I have to lose 15 pounds in about 3 and half weeks, I hope I can lose that much.

  6. i started on mushes yesterday! it was my post-op apt and he said I'm good to go on mushes then after about 2 weeks i can start real food again. right before surgery my surgeon came and and said so do you want the lap band or the realize band? i was like ummm ( because i was thinking i was getting the lap band) he said that he likes the realize better so thats what i ended up with. also just so you know after you have the surgery there is a card you can get from your surgeons office or lap band journey.com or for me the realize success. com it lets you order off the kids and senior menu at restraints. its pretty neat. just wanted to share that with you. and I'm sure you can have a few bites from Thanksgiving dont think it will hurt you much!!!

  7. Hi! How are your mushies going? It's so exciting after those weeks of liquids! If you like sweet potatoes, they were like a staple food, also, rachel ray showed a recipe for mashed potatoes using a few potatoes and the rest cauliflower....ive got to try that! It looked really good! Good luck!

  8. Well thanks for the add! Great job on your weight loss! I'd say 30lbs in a month is something to be proud of! Mine is really not as bad as others I have spoken with. 2 meals are protein shakes which I adore! My fave is one I invented chocolate-cherry-banana YUM! The 3rd meal is soup, snacks I can have sf/ff yogurt, pudding, or jello. And the fact that I dropped 8 in 6 days, shoot I must be doing something right : )

I took my son for a walk before we ran errands earlier. It was only about 20 min. but hey i was walking as fast as my fat butt would let me and pushing his 26 lbs in his car, lol. Well I have already had a c-section so I don't figure this pain to be near that. My goal is 145 or a little lower and I am only almost 5'3". So I am really going to try to push being stricter on this last week. I go get bloodwork done on friday. How long would you say I would have to go without picking up my 18 month old?

    HUGS, Starla

  11. Wow! You look great! I'm 1 week post op (yippee) and had a really hard time with hunger yesterday. I wanted to give myself some mental strength and looked at some before and after pics! You completely snapped me out of my funk! I have a formal gala in 6 weeks and I hope I look half as good as you do in your picture! You are beautiful!!!! I going to borrow the below advice fromj 2Flyguys and go for a walk. I hope the hunger stays at bay for a little while longer! (I start purees on Thursday and never, ever thought I could get excited about that!)

  12. Hey chica :) I'd love to help each other! Sorry I've been MIA, I was without Internet for 2 weeks. Not fun! How are you doing?!?!

  13. Now I am checking in on you! I am new to this message thing, so bear with me. Ha! I hope all is going well. I have lost another pound since last week. I am grateful, because I was eating Halloween candy that I bought. I might would have lost 2 lbs if I would have left it alone. I want to be under the 270's by the end of October. That is my goal. Keep in touch. All we have is each other!

  14. girl yes i met with Dr. Khalili yesterday for my preop he was a chatty Cathy once he warmed up to me, he was a bit skiddish at first. Hell yeah I'm nervous and excited 2 weeks wow...

  17. I took the week off so that I could rest. I'm glad to hear everything went well for you too. I was up and about soon after surgery too with no pain meds. I agree, it was much easier than I anticipated as well, especially after reading threads. Again, I'm glad you are doing well. Keep in touch.

  18. Hey there LBB...glad to hear it went well and you're doing well. This has been much easier than I anticipated after reading through the threads for the past 3 weeks. I came back to work this morning just because it was so darned uncomfortable sitting still.

  19. Good luck with the band. I'm doing great but I still fight the addiction, daily. Check out my blog at IF YOUR STOMACH OFFENDS YOU, TIE IT OFF if you want to read about my journey. I started it a week before my surgery on June 18 and I deal with a lot of the addiction issues. I get scared sometimes that I'll gain it back but I've got a tool now to help me. Deo Valente

  20. heyyy yea im actually back to normal now, just sore if i touch the incision. I havent weighed my self yet because i want to wait till i go see my surgeon on friday :) omg the liquids was horrible the first week, im happy i can have yogurt and i feel in love with greek yogurt soo ive been doing that for breakfast and lunch yesterday and today, it has a lot of protein so i figure its okay. Anyway sorry to ramble on, how is the banded life going? when were u banded?

  21. Hey what's new? Well I lost my good restriction a couple of months ago and the was out of town for weeks and weeks so anyway I finally got two fills this month and I am in a good place...I can only eat a little bit so hopefully I will start losing again...let me know how you are doing!!

  22. Things are ok....still some pain but I returned to work today so Im getting used to things! Now I will be honest, this challenge is hard but after being overweight all my life, I had to make a change! Its only been a week and I have had to change my whole routine! Its so easy to pick up a snack and eat, but so hard to plan a healthy meal. You are doing the right thing doing your research! No matter what people tell you, this is not in anyway shape or form the easy way out! You can do it girl!!!

  23. AHHHH.. You put your pic up! I also noticed we are really close in age. I was born I am going to put some pics up this week.

  24. Hi there!

Just saw your post and I have to say you look wonderful. What's even better is you sound so happy. I can relate to just about everything you posted about yourself. I am just now awaiting the approval from my insurance company. We hope to know by next week and then schedule surgery for the 1st week of December.

It is so inspiring to see someone "like me"...not in my 20's...(I'm actually 43) use this tool to lose so much weight. My biggest fear is that I will go through surgery and only lose that 60-80 pounds. (Which I've done by myself many times over during the last 15 years.)

Please keep posting about your successes and how wonderful you feel...it is true inspiration and motivation for me.

Congratulations on all your hard work. It really shows!!

    Claricey :)

  25. Going for my consultation next week! They told me I have to see a nutritionist for 6 months before I can have surgery. This is frustrating because I have been this way for so long. I wish they would bump it up to 3 months. Does anyone know if insurance companies will ever do this?
