Now my "skinny" clothes that I bought a couple of months ago to get me through are now too big. Down to a 36" pants and XL shirt( but they are fair from a tight fit). My other NSV was a realization while in the shower the other day. I have a tube shower that I have always hated because it felt so small. As I was taking a shower, I realized that the shower felt alot bigger than the last time I thought about it(before the surgery). It was just one of those silly little things that make you smile and proud.

Sometimes its the unexpected things that get you

Yes, sometimes it is the more subtle changes that are most eye-opening. This NSV is the figurative and literal measure of how far you've come. L'chaim. -

Those NSVs are so freakin' awesome, aren't they? I've experienced so many of them but they are still thrilling none the less. There is nothing better than to fit like any normal person, into a plane seat, or a restaurant booth, or anywhere for that matter. -
Blan, that must feel so good. How rewarding such minor things like this make a 'huge' difference in our lives. I can't wait to have NSV's.. -Patty

Yeah! And I had to check your age, because I am in the "old Broad" stage too! Love your NSV!!!!

I think starting a diet or new lifestyle is one area where nature is kind. I always find the weight pours off at first and just when that fast ride stops is when the NSV's start, keeps you going a bit longer. You're dong great.

Non Scale Victory!
SageTracey replied to Kristen1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might need to fill us in with some more detail on why this is an NSV....is it because your clothes are now all small enough to fit into a single load in the dryer? My laundry NSV was my teenage son commenting that I no longer wear the biggest shirts in the family, in fact, he had picked up one of mine because he mistook it for one of his! -
Okay, I managed to lose .1 pound last month - according to my dr. So I decided we need to start recognizing our NSVs here. I bought purple jeans about 3 weeks ago that were tight - and today they fit just fine. I lost my measurement book so I didn't measure for awhile. Then I found my measurements for June and July. Holy crapole, have I lost inches... I have never worn 12s (and baggy 12s) when I weighed this much 178 in the past. Somehow I keep losing fat and not muscle. I have tracked body fat with my scale and my measuring shows a total weight loss of 35.6 pounds with only 4 pounds of that being lean mass and the remainder fat loss. Okay, some other wabbits need to post their NSV. I'm guessing we will really slow down with the holidays so its time to recognize the victories. Celeste

Finally a place I can call home. Yes, I have had good losses at certain times - during pre-op diet, after surgery, after fill 2 (overfill) but now I'm settled down and am pretty consistently losing .4 - .6 pounds per week. Last month I did a little better - trying to win the holiday challenge - but I notice that I'm not even a contender there and I ended up with so many blisters on my feet that I can't hardly walk. So I will come here to post my nsv (none lately) and scale/inch victories. Thanks for starting this. Celeste

Yay great NSV!!!! Congrats, the sleeve is workin ya - and you're workin it!!!! -
I had the best thing happen to me this morning! When I got out of the shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and it closed all the way around, even my hips!!!! I cannot even remember the last time that happened. I usually look like a leaky burrito when I get out out the shower. I was so excited that I ran in to show my husband, and he was all "That's... great! What?" He had no idea why I was so excited about it, but he did helpfully point out that I was dripping on the floor.

Today when I returned to the office from being out of town, a co-worker stopped and said "wow. You look narrower from under your arms to your waist." For what that's worth?!? A bit of a 'different' compliment but I'll take it!

Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
Katie713 replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dee Dee....it's been a few weeks now, I am wondering how you are doing? I am so glad that you got such supportive responses. It is hard to admit when we are struggling, but you know what, most of us struggle at times during this process. I am a slow loser, but after tracking for so long now, I see the pattern. My body holds onto the weight for awhile, then I lose 3-5 lbs overnight. I was going thru my closet this weekend and getting rid of the rest of my larger sizes and trying stuff on, I had this favorite brown jacket and it was my "small jacket" of all my jackets, I could snap it closed but barely. I thought I could get a few more wears out of it, and as I slipped it on and the jacket wrapped from side to side...the buttons under my armpits...I had that NSV my little private reminder that I am so much smaller. Lately the scale isn't moving...and I started to think that I was the same size I was before....I still have weight to lose and have my tummy fat to contend with you see....but I allowed myself to realize that I am already a success with my healthier me campaign!!! I am doing it .....and so are YOU !! -
This is a wonderful place isn't it! You know we love ya! Keep posting those NSVs! The SVs will come eventually! That's what I keep telling myself! You can PM me anytime!

The only time I have struggled with emotions was for the two weeks immediately post-op. I was uncharcteristically emotional ( crying over little things that would not normally phase me). I was losing weight rapidly in those two weeks, plus my body was recuperating from surgery and anesthesia. One of the PA's told me something about hormones in fat cells and that when you are losing weight rapidly these hormones get released. Dont' remember the exact details of how it was explained to me. But no emotional issue since that time. I think having a realistic perspective about post-band weight loss helps not to get bogged down or too obsessive about slower weight loss and/or plateaus. I try to focus on NSV(s) and the fact that this is going to be a long-term process when things aren't moving as quickly as I would like. Best of luck to you!

If you ever have doubts if you should do the surgery........
Rachel79uk replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank God I read this. I.m absolutely terrified. And although I only weigh 200lbs it's still impossible for me to lose it. I was 295lbs and lost 95 with weight watchers but it goes on and off and I'm sick of being the fat friend and not joining in with anything. Thanks for the inspiration xxx well done for all of your nsv xxx Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App -

But oh so funny. I was walking down the main street of town yesterday lunchtime on my way back to the office and suddenly started to feel awkward. I thought my skirt had twisted but as I reached down I grabbed it just before it fell past my knees. One second more it would have been around my ankles! A ducked into a shop where the salesperson helped me out with a safety pin and a lot of laughter! Sent from my iPad using VST

as much! Calm down, people! I still shower everyday... However, I used to be the person who had to shower before every event, sometimes multiple times a day. I would work a full day (no physical labor involved) but had to fully shower and get ready again before going out that night. I'd plan my day and my social life around when I needed to shower. I never felt "fresh." I sweated all the time. I constantly felt like I smelled. Last night my friend wanted to go out and I contemplated showering... or just washing off in the bath since I can comfortably fit in the tub now... but I realized even though I had showered 12 hours prior I still felt clean, everywhere! Some of this could be due to my new baby powder routine (LOL) but mostly because I'm not constantly sweaty anymore. I feel fresh and clean for 24 hours or more. So I just touched up my make up, straightened my hair a bit, changed and was out the door... saved me probably an hour! All NSV's are awesome but I particularly love the silly ones... so much stuff makes me laugh now about my new body! Oh yeah, last weekend I saw the guy I lost my virginity to in college for the first time in 2 1/2 years... I told him about the surgery and how much I had lost but he hadn't seen any pictures. The first thing he said, with a bewildered look, "man, you do look different as hell!" Of course, I couldn't mention my night without including a picture... I'm wearing an old sweater as a tunic with leggings now! Keep rocking those sleeves!

I've got a pair of 12 and 10 sized jeans and they are getting too big. I usually wait till I go to Jersey or Florida to buy my jeans in Walmart. I'm not getting to either state for a while so I went into the jeans store by my apartment where they actually have salespeople who can suggest sizes and styles for you. The girl was probably 22, thin as a rail and likely no help to me at all but she was the only one there and I told her I needed jeans that fit better and I showed her how they were sagging everywhere. First thing she did was tell me I should try a size 8. OMG....a size in the single digits? No...not me. Well...sure enough, they fit no problem. Then she says they are still too baggy and brings me 'skinny' jeans. No...not me. I tried them on and they were tighter than any pair of jeans I've worn in years but even I could tell that they fit well. I'm not in mom jeans anymore. How's that for a NSV, huh?

Yes it sure does, it gives you motivation to keep going. Congrats on the NSV! Keep up the good work!!
