Scale and non-scale victories!
The Candidate replied to Jessicacherry3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won the double lottery of scale and NSV victories in one. That is indeed a reason for celebration! Way to go! -
Twice, I was out walking this past summer,,I made it about 1/4 mile and it took me about 10 minutes to do that. I ended up in ICU both times due to respiratory distress because of a rare autoimmune disease I have..it sent me into a Myasthenia Gravis crisis. My muscles in my chest wall just couldn't do the work..not to mention the extra weight those muscles had to try and lift. Today,,I walked at 2 mph on my treadmill for a mile!!!!!..no distress, no pain,,just energy and enthusiasm. I just thank God that this is finally happening for me. Steroids put most of the weight on and by golly I'm going to fight to get this weight off and get well!!!

This week, I have been complimented like crazy about how I have lost weight!! All of a sudden, BAM!! Everyone is saying something to me. It feels pretty good. However, I was not prepared for the compliments,. People are asking me what I am doing, and it never occurred to me to have an answer. I guess it is a like a dream come true that you are not ready for. I just tell people I cut carbs and eat very differently. But if feels good and is great incentive for me!!

Your story of this ring is really touching. It is nice to know that he will be remembered and that you actually will be able to showcase one of his last pieces now. I am so glad to hear this NSV =) It is definitely an incredible thing. -
Huge Nsv..in A Small Package

BEAUTIFUL ring. I am so happy for you. I am still PRE op, but I am hoping to have NSVs of my own to share one day! Congratulations! -
I'm 7 weeks out. I'm down 56 pounds but more exciting to me is I have lost 5 inches in my waist and my hips. I'm down from 24 pants to 18; and some 18s are getting loose! I bought a shirt at the store last weekend. It was in the regular section so I didn't know if it would fit. I held up the XL and thought it fit. Got home and I was swimming in it! Went back and tried on the medium. It fit well but the bust area looked odd the way it was cut because I'm still a D. So I got the L and it looks good even though its a bit big. Unbelievable! I also lost three inches under my bust and I'm having to use the inner clasp. I'm putting off getting new bras as long as I can. Also I talked to my daughter who is 9. I was talking to her about eating habits and told her I don't want her to end up over weight like me. She said she didn't think I was overweight. If only we could see ourselves through their eyes! I'm able to walk up the stairs at work which are huge without grabbing the rail or feeling tired. I have a lot more energy too!

What does NSV mean?

No weight loss for 2 weeks :(
reverie replied to rowekins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weightloss isn't consistent nor linear. You won't lose weight on the scale every week, doesn't work that way. Maybe focus more on NSVs and measurements. Two weeks without a decrease on the scale is hardly a stall/plateau. Good luck! -
An NSV is a non-scale victories. It's the little things we Celebrate during our weight loss that have nothing to do with numbers or scales. It could be fitting into an old dress, climbing up a staircase without losing your breath, etc.

Week 5: May 27-31st Sleevers
Krystal0528 replied to devint's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok everyone, I haven't been on in a while. I have been on a stall the past week an half:( But finally went down again today;) getting all Water in, about 60% of Protein in but I'm trying. Working out doing lots if cardio but I'm thinking I'm gonna need a trainer because my arm are really flabby now! I'm a little amazed on how flabby with a 30 lb loss! Shocking... Sleeved 5/28 SW 290 CW 263 Also for a NSV: I normally would wear a 20/22 but went to mall an could fit in a 14/16!! I couldn't believe it;) All I can say is just because scale is not moving, were still losing in inches -

My mother managed to really, really hurt me today. She went off and told people about my surgery and how she felt about it. (Not positive mind you). I was so hurt and embarrassed...quite humiliated. So what did I do? I went home and attempted to over eat. Stuffing my feelings about her betrayal just like all the hundreds of times I have felt as though she has thrown me under the bus for the sake of juicy gossip. But (here's the good part) I stopped. I picked up the phone and very nicely but firmly told her that she hurt me, made me feel humiliated and embarrassed. I asked her to please never discuss my issues with anyone else and if I wanted to disclose information that it would be up to me to do so. She apologized (tears and all...this is a way for her to keep me from speaking my truth) and I accepted. And I thanked her for listening and accepted her apology. And then I felt better. I didn't need to eat anymore because I dealt with her in a constructive, positive way. And that is for me, a victory!

Great NSV. Good for you! -
I went shopping today to Wally World and while I was there I figured I'd buy a shirt and pair of pants for future use when I lost more weight. I've worn a 3XL shirt for years and I had a 50 waist when I started my journey. Well, I bought an XL shirt and some size 40 Levis, thinking I'd be in them sooner or later. When I got home I thought I'd put them on just to see how much further I had to go and, OMG, they BOTH fit! (The down side is that I've got a closet full of expensive 3XL Tori Richards aloha shirts that I have bought in the islands over the past few years and they're just too big for me. Oh, well, I'll take the trade off!) One NSV is that I don't have to pay the surcharge for "extra size" clothes. The elation I felt when I put these clothes on was immeasurable and it wiped away any thought in my mind whether or not the sleeve was the right decision or not. For all you newbies and pre-op members, If you haven't felt it yet, you will!

Omg I was sleeved a month and 2 days ago. I suffered from amenorrhea (no periods)due to PCOS. Guess Who came this morning after years being MIA? Aunt flow! I know it sounds silly but I am so excited! My pipes work! Thanks to the sleeve!!

Maybe you've been such a good girl you've hit the dreaded 3-week stall 9 days early. Keep on what you're doing right, once your body "catches its breath" you will resume losing again. Have your measurements gotten smaller,? even those NSV (non scale victories) are something to feel proud of. You are an example to all the "newbies" who yearn to be like you and someday they will be. Smile, you're still traveling on the road to better health![emoji12] Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Just got out of the shower and for the first time in as long as I can remember, I was able to wrap my towel around myself, secure it (like a dress, kind of), and be completely covered!!! So stinkin' excited!!

What a wonderful and beautiful NSV! My eyes watered because I have three daughters, and my oldest understood my struggle and transformation the most. She was very supportive and proud. Keep it up, mam. Good luck to you and I wish you many more inspiring NSV's!
