  1. Hey all, This is my first time posting. Its just my husband that knows about my surgery but I wanna share it with you all because today I've reached my target weight[emoji1][emoji126] Im 7 months post op. I'm 5ft1 and weighted 15 stone before gastric bypass surgery and now today I've reached the 9 stone mark. Getting surgery was the best decision I could of ever made but the hardest thing I've ever done also. I travelled to nord bariatric clinic from Ireland to Lithuania in Dec 2020 solo. I was scared, ashamed nervous and so so miserable. I missed my kids and my husband so much for the time I was away it was scary being alone doing this but I knew I had to do this for me and for them. The first few months are a learning curve post op but honestly things get easier and you adjust. I still enjoy nice food and drink but know my limit. Having surgery has allowed me to feel like me again I feel the head demons are gone and I just feel free. Here are some before and after photos . Best of luck everyone with your journey. Its so worth it Sent from my SM-G781B using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I know this may sound ridiculous but in the past two weeks I’m experiencing rapid loss of about a lb a day, and I feel like it should be slowing down. Is it possible I’m not getting enough protein? I didn’t go through all of this just to wreck my body further and I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to be as healthy as possible. Is this just normal? From weeks 3-5 my loss slowed down a bit so maybe this is the normal cycle? I had sleeve if that makes a difference. I do drink all my water and I’m measuring out my food. I walk 5 days a week. If not normal I’m ready to call my doc. Crazy how unpredictable the body is!
  3. So this is a bit of an odd one. Has anyone noticed that the weight loss post surgery (I had VSG) is less noticeable compared to when you lost weight before? To explain a little more, I’m almost 14 weeks out and down 59lbs… but I don’t look like I’ve lost that much. Before, a loss of 10-15lbs was noticeable to me both on how I looked in the mirror and how my clothes fit. I do notice a SLIGHT difference through my weekly progress pics now and my clothes are fitting better, but it just doesn’t seem anywhere close to 60lbs. I find this a bit disconcerting on several levels. My goal weight isn’t a must for me, but how I look is. I feel like I’m maybe not losing fat the way I used to in a more balanced way, or that maybe I’m losing more muscle as well that’s contributing to this. I do strength training 4 days a week to keep up muscle building (I used to be a bodybuilder so I have more muscle mass than most) and do cardio 5 days a week for 20 mins. My diet 80-110g of protein and 850-1050 calories.

  6. I had a gastric sleeve a week and two days ago and checked the scale and noticed I haven’t lost any weight at all. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
  7. Who here has lost weight / gotten surgery and gained the weight back?
  8. I had my gastric sleeve 8/2011. I began at 290 lbs. I have hit my plateau at 180 pds but then began losing again. I am now down to 129 lbs. I feel as if I have lost too much weight. I am eating all day as of yesterday. I take Periactin, a appetite increasing pill. I am drinking ensure and protein shakes also. Has this happened to anyone else? I have had to have iron transfusions due to anemia and malabsorption. I am at a loss for ideas on what I can do to gain weight. I feel like a skeleton.
  9. Hi everyone! I’m am on day 6 of my pre-op diet and I have lost 10.5lbs. My daily “meals” are 2 premier protein shakes, 3oz of chicken or fish, 1 cup steamed veggies or 2 cups of raw veggies, 64 oz of water and 1 cup chick or beef broth. It seems like an excessive amount of weight I have lost in a matter of 6 days. Is this normal? My pre-op diet weight was 264.5lbs and today I weigh exactly 254.0lbs. Just worried I’m losing too much weight too quickly. I still have 8 days to go until surgery. Any one have similar weight loss on pre-op? Thank you in advance :)
  10. I had my first consult appointment today. Im going to the Weight Loss and Surgery Center in Oswego, NY. I’m all set up with 4 more appointments. One to meet the surgeon, one psychology appt, and two nutritionist appointments.

I was a little disappointed that they said they believe my insurance requires 6 months of appointments. They said they’ll try to submit the paperwork at 3 months but it will probably be 6 months. So that’s a bummer. I knew that you couldn’t just snap your fingers and get a date but in my mind I was thinking like 10 weeks. ( I was going off of the time it took my sisters friend who just had surgery at the same location.) I wish they would count the time that I’ve been researching 😃🤪

The good news is that I don’t really need to do anything test wise because I happen to of had all the requirements already met. I’ve had a chest X-ray, and abdominal ultrasound, an ekg, an endoscopy, an upper GI, already done this year and I already have a stress echo scheduled that my primary doctor ordered last month. So, the practitioner said I’ll need blood work and that’s all. So, now I just make theses appointments, try to be in the best shape I can be for whenever I can have surgery and wait.

  11. Hello all! I am a little over 4 months PO...weight loss is steady but slow at times, just under 50 pounds. I try to count macros, log my food, get all my protein in, walk, etc. and my scale will stay the same for about a week, but 3 times now I got off track and ate bad (like a slice of pizza or a donut), I know this is bad for me...!! But everytime, I was 2 pounds lighter the next day. That is so strange!! Does anyone have similar experience with this? Do our metabolisms get stalled eating perfectly and we have to "trick" it once in a while!!?? Feeling perplexed but happy my scale moved again!
  12. Hi so I'm 5.5 months after bypass I've lost 4.3 which is low compared to most. I have another 2 st to lose and am worried this is it now? I actually put on 2lbs this week. But I know my food wasnt great last week. I've heard alot say 6 months the weight loss stops and mine has never been great. Has anyone experienced this and then list a bit more? 13. Hi all new here. Had gastric sleeve surgery on June 7th. Dropped 27 lbs. Started puree on June 19th. I've gained 3lbs back. I don't get it. I'm eating 600-700 calorie a day and walking 3/4 of a mile a day. Anyone else experience this . Thanks

  16. Is anyone that is disabled get the gastric sleeve and lost a lot of weight without having to exercise too much I talk to my surgeon about my disability and I can’t really walk or stand or anything for too long and I was worried that I would be wasting my time getting the surgery and not lose any weight but he encouraged me that he has patients that can’t exercise and they’ve lost weight so I just want someone to confirm that this is possible.
  17. I’m struggling with maintenance. I have exceeded my weight loss goal and am currently at the bottom of the healthy BMI scale, but I’m very wary of weight gain because four years after my surgery I had regained almost half of the weight I lost. I’m currently adhering to the dietary recommendations given to me in the first year, but it has me losing slightly every week. I don’t seem to know how to maintain. I’m either gaining or losing.

  19. I had VSG surgery 5/2020, I stopped completely losing weight in November 2020, and I have not lost any since. I have been put on Saxenda, and Phenteramine (at different times). I fluctuate between 165-170. my height is 5'2. I stated at 210, so I have successfully lost 40 # but thats it. I am NO WHERE near where I thought the surgery would allow me to lose. I feel like a failure. I only consume about 1000 calories a day. I started CROSSFIT but have stopped since about a month ago. I'm just over it. I'm over trying I'm over the whole thing. I'm so frustrated and mad at myself for even allowing myself to have the surgery. So my question is has anyone else been through this and if so what did you do about it and get successful results. I don't know whether I need to do a VSG to RNY conversion. I don't know if I even have that option to be honest. For my height to be at a normal weight I would need to be at 135 but I would love to lose another 20 lbs.
  20. I had to loose 17 pounds for surgery. Was 350 now im 323 . im trying to get to under 300 before surgery Sent from my LM-X220PM using BariatricPal mobile app

  22. How long does weight stall last. Or should I go back to the puree stage. I on l y need 10 more pounds for my goal weight. Surgery was 3 21 2021. 250lbs today and for last week and a half. Its 180 and 184. I go to gym 2 to 3 days a week. Cardio and light workout. Is this a stall or did I reach my limit.. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I am 3.5 months post op sleeve and started back to the gym for weight training. I am thinking of going 3 times per week with 1-2 days in between workout days. I walk 60 minutes daily and will keep that up on non gym days. Probably will walk 30 minutes on gym days. Does that seem to be enough weight training to make a difference? Looking to tone up and fill in loose skin in problem areas while continuing to lose weight in honeymoon phase. Will the weight training slow down my weight loss?
  24. I'm almost 10 months post-op and am down about 80# give or take, which is 30# from my goal. I was stuck at about 163 for several months and am still struggling to get enough protein in. I've been in contact with my RD and she suggested smaller, more frequent meals to try to get closer to my daily protein goal. The problem is, I'm finding that since following this routine, I'm gaining weight and am now up to 169. I reached out to her again, and she is now suggesting adding a low-dose Rx med to the mix. I'm not sure how I feel about this. She wants me to eat more small, frequent, protein-packed meals yet is suggesting an appetite suppressant? Doesn't make sense to me. I've tried things like Builders Bars and can't finish one in one sitting. I've added Unjury Protein Powder to things like cottage cheese, yogurt & salsa, but that's only 22g - IF I can get the whole scoop in one day. I snack on stuff like string cheese (9g protein), but it's not enough. I walk 2 miles daily and am taking up swimming next week. I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to get over this hump. Anyone else ever been in this conundrum? On the bright side, my hair has stopped falling out and is growing back!
