Read At Your Own Risk...it's About Bms
Wheetsin replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Which kind of laxative did you take? Some can draw fatty material into the bowel. You might have just been expelling some of it. Could it have been mucus? That's also fairly common to see with a laxative or odd bowel movement. Like you, I've never been that regular. When they were telling me "no more than 3 days without a BM" I was like... I don't necessarily go every 3 days now pre-op... are you kidding? My first one post-op took about a week, then about 4 days, then another 4 days. Then nothing, and nothing, and it's been 2 weeks and nothing... I took Miralax and Benefiber, both with Splenda-based apple juice. On the 2nd day I had a large, hard BM. On the 3rd day I had what I would call "pudding" stool x2. After the second one I had a LOT of gas and a LOT of mucus. A LOT. I didn't look at what came out, so I don't know if it looked anything like what you had (I don't even know if it came out with, or just after). But I could imagine a mucusy stool might have a fatty look to it as well. Aren't our bodies wonderful?? (sorry if the above is TMI, but sharing info doesn't help much if it's censored or euphamized). -
Hubby's Attempt At Assistance! :-)
willowcat replied to Cocoabean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting stuck HURTS! It gets to the point that if the food isn't going down, then it's coming UP! I have what I call an "in-case-a-cup" in the car all the time--just in case! Public bathroom splashback I handle by first getting a big wad of toilet paper and then I throw up into the wad of paper. Probably tmi...! Sorry, but it does prevent the splashback! My husband doesn't understand that this isn't really the same as vomit--this is just saliva and chewed up food--still, he gets totally grossed out. It's not my idea of ideal, but it is what it is. All such GREAT rewards! In the TMI category ... I am already feeling more confident being intimate with my man. I am looking towards that increasing even more!! I think I am very lucky that I have always been able to tie my shoes or paint my toes or walk around a store... My perspective is already different b/c I realize some of what I have taken for granted. Believe me... I have a LONG way to go to goal, but y'all that REALLY have had to start at ground zero... y'all are such AMAZING inspiration! ! Reading your joyous reports of achievement... it takes my breath away!! Please don't take this wrong b/c it's meant right... I always think if they can do this than I sure as heck can!! They make me understand how lucky I am this is happening for me at this point of my life. I mean this from the bottom of my heart.... ALL of you are going to deserve credit in my soon to be success story!! Ha! I am even teary eyed writing this. -

OMG, thanks for this thread! "Going down there" is one of my fav. things to do with my boyfriend and I always "finish the job" so to speak. He agrees that he's very spoiled...anyway... Here's my question, one of my fav. positions is missionary only with my legs up around his neck. I'm getting banded in Aug, I know there's recovery so I'll need to be careful but has anyone done this particular position? Did it affect your port? Thanks everyone and sorry if it was TMI. -
How dis your marriage change after your sleeve?
tamjo37 replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I both had the surgery 2 weeks apart... Has made us stronger if anything... We are each others biggest supporters. The only big change is the sex... Lots of it now... Sorry tmi I know:) -
Definitely pay attention to it though. Some folks become lactose intolerant for a while after surgery. I do believe a lot has to do with no Fiber and no solids in our diets - I had the issues too and once I was able to have things with fiber it helped. Folks who have had to take antibiotics after surgery - especially strong ones....listen up. I had to take 500 mg of an antibiotic 4 times a day for a while to help clear up an incision infection. Those antibiotic caused an imbalance in my intestines/bowel and caused awful Diarrhea and some cramping. This may be TMI but, it's important....that diarrhea starts to smell really bad...kinda fishy like and can be greenish and well...flaky pieces within the Fluid. It's not something to ignore and you really need to contact your surgeon. I had this and called my surgeon and was tested. I tested positive for Clostridium Difficile or C. Diff. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clostridium_difficile ) I had to take yet another antibiotic to help kill off some of the bad bacteria so the good bacteria could balance out. That antibiotic was also 500 mg 4 times a day. I was done after 14 days and thought I was doing well. Well after about a week off the antibiotic it came back. Here we go again....this time around my doc put me on the same antibiotic Flagil (generic: Metronidazole) and Florastor to try to get the balance back. Tomorrow is my last day on the antibiotic but, I think this go round I'm staying on the Florastor for at least an additional week if not more. Believe me, this thing is awful! I have to bring extra clothes with me to work "just in case" and until about 11am, I can't trust that I can hold it in. I get the urge, I run! Back to regular diarrhea though......I have read a few books on RNY and they do mention it happens. It can happen on the early stages after surgery because our systems aren't used to things going directly in so quickly, if you wash the food out of your pouch too quickly after eating, if you have a tad more fat then usual, you have a lactose intollerance or in my case antibiotics caused a problem. Make sure to stay hydrated and if it lasts longer than a day or two you should definitely call your doc.

TMI LOL -
First I get a result from my dobutamine stress test that indicates I need to see the cardiologist....which has me in a panic that I wont get the surgery. Today I saw him and he could not understand why I was there as nothing in my results indicated the need. While relieve, I could not help being a bit bitter about having to pay $25 of our limited funds to be told this. Meanwhile I was so affected by the dobutamine I postponed my colonoscopy until this week from last Friday. Mind you, this is not normally on the list of required tests...but since I am due for it (sorry for the tmi but I had two polyps on the last one so need another after three years and my WLS doc wants it done before my sleeve). Last Thursday my sleep study results came back and I have apnea. Not too surprised, and more than willing to use the machine... Then I get a phone call from the Gastro department that the apnea dx means I need a general anesthetic for my colonoscopy and THAT WILL DELAY IT UNTIL POSSIBLY JUNE!!!!! I am beyond freaked- with the cardiologist out of the way and my psych eval coming up in two weeks, my nutritionist has said she will help me get the surgery in April, May at the latest. WTF!!!!!! The wacky thing is if I had only had my procedure last week..... DANG!!!!! I had one three years ago with the same doctor with no problem whatsoever for the twilight sleep. The fact that anesthesiologists are only available that far out could totally ruin my chances to have it before June, when we are plunged into our busy season as wedding photographers.

I Want To Do 3 Plastic Surgery
TinyMamiOf3kids replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well I feel I will or they will sag more then what it is. I meet this woman in the market that said she had surgery in 2006 and she lost all her boobs. She was a triple FFF and she looks like a B cup. She did a great job keeping weight off. I saw her checking out the sugar of the items & such. I hate my boobs after kids & I want a lift also. I think when they mess with your boobs you lose the feeling (sorry tmi but man look s........n....ples)... so that's the reason he feels it's fine, but I don't. -
Probably TMI...but I feel I'm among friends here. With the sleeve, you don't create as much bile. You can still throw up, it's just different. I had food poisoning and it was hard and different, but I was able to throw up. Instead of a liquid, I had more of a foam. It seemed to take a lot more out of me physically. My entire body hurt the next day.

Newbie :) Surgery has been scheduled!
lisacaron replied to allthatJez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@allthatJez Nice to meet you and congratulations on your surgery date! This is a great place to be for support and information. You will read and hear lots information. The best advice is to always listen to your doctor and error on the side of caution if your not sure of something. Surgery can always be a daunting thing that some with some nerves and some fears. It is definitely something to take serious, but to help alleviate some of your fears I can tell you that I love my band and I have not even for one second had regret for having had the surgery. My surgery was about 2 hours long I had lapband with plication done and I spent the night at the hospital as was my Dr.'s protocol for the surgery. The staff made me very comfortable and I was in minimal if any pain at all. The most discomfort I felt was at the port site and a nice ice pack on the port site even when you get home will help with that so much! You may find you have some gas pain in your back or shoulder after the surgery since they inflate your stomach with gas to help move some of your other organs out of the way and your body will need to expel that gas. Needless to say you will be making "noises" for a bit after surgery Passing gas never felt so good! (sorry if that was TMI) If you have pain from the gas a nice heating pad or hot Water bottle under you back or shoulder will help with that a a bit. I also found that having some warm decaf tea helped to soothe that gas and my tummy as well. You can also try some beano or gas-ex strips to help aid that as well. I'm sure you will do well and if you have any questions or concerns pleas don't feel shy in asking!! -
So the pain finally went away and my shoulder feels better. Thanks for the advice to keep moving bandsters. It really help, but now I'm in liquid diet hell. If I drink one more whey protein shake. I feel like I am starving. I have also been a tad bit bad. I ate a small bite of a chicken panini sandwich my daughter had,but after I chewed it I spit it out. Big mistake. That tiny morsel of normal came back in the form of exposive diarrhea, I know tmi, but someone has got to say it and days later I thought I could have a chicken chunk. It was soft and it's chicken right healthy. Wrong!!! Same thing that happen before happened again so no more cheating for me.But I have got to tell you I'm raging bitch  on this liquid diet.Yes I have gone from 316 to 296 in two weeks  but when came I use my teeth again.

Chapstick, gas-ex strips, a pillow for the ride home and little maternity belly bander And a book for the 2 hour wait before surgery. The hospitals have everything else in terms of toiletries. Tell the prep nurse/tech and they will supply you with pads. Or whatever they want you in. Girl, your whole body is about the be cut open, I don't think there is a such thing as TMI...LOL Good luck!! -
TMI Gay Men & future of bottoming - serious question
TheBearguy8 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am scheduled and finding myself in a panic over an issue that men here must have an opinion about. Anal sex after the sleeve recovery period. Long term changes to the entire way your digestive system works. I had lost 35 pounds through exercise and discipline, but hit a wall while still at a BMI of 38, stuck for 4 years. I'm not morbidly obese anymore, but definitely eligible with a 45 inch belly to prove it. Also had an umbilical cord hernia mesh fix when I was 22 and a dancer, now in my 50's. There's a vanity aspect to this because my doctor thinks I'm down to a safer range of numbers - and I've been HIV positive for 32 years and never ill - a real miracle. Being overweight really did mean confirming I was healthy as friends died around me. Now it's really a last chance to live a long life, and not die of obesity related illnesses like my entire family has. Might I have diarreah or uncontrollable gas or other lower intestinal problems that could affect my sex life? -
Tomorrow will make 1 week with the band. All I want right now is to have a BM!!!! I'm sorry if this is TMI for some, but I'm miserable!!! I move on to mushy foods tmrw and can't wait!!! How long after your band did you have a BM?
-
Hey guys Maybe TMI but yesterday I had the most awful, two hour long session trying to have a BM. Soooo constipated. My hubby was ready to call an ambulance it was that bad, sweating and shaking and finally when I had managed to go enough to make a difference, I was so exhausted I just slept and slept. In the night I woke with pains in my stomach under the wound sites and a pain in my left shoulder. It is a bit better now so I’m not rushing to A&E or anything but I wonder if straining the wound site causes referred pain in the shoulder? I’d imagine if I had burst stitches I’d be in agony and my stomach would be hard so I’m not too worried / but just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? Xxxxx

Enjoying Exploring my Anatomy!
JamieLogical replied to Dr-Patient's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My pelvic bones are actually annoying me now. The jut out so far that I am always banging my arms on them. How is that a thing that is happening?!?! Also, itching is a painful endeavor now. Like around my collar bones and jaw. Nails on bone is an uncomfortable sensation. TMI Warning!!!! But the worst, by far, is this tendon that stretches from my crotchal region to my inner thigh. When my husband and I have sex and he's on top, his pelvic bone pokes that tendon and it HURTS!!! -
My Sleeve Journey (sleeved 12/28)
MamaRhea replied to MamaRhea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So this morning I woke up at around 1:30am in such agony that I was having difficulty breathing or speaking. One of my incisions was red, swollen, hot to the touch, and extremely painful. I also had a significant amount of pain deeper underneath the incision. I called the hospital to speak with the on call doctor, who just happened to be my surgeon. My surgeon assured me that it was highly unlikely to be infected, but that I could go to the ER if I needed help managing my pain. I really hate the ER, so I wasn't going to go just for pain management. But I was unconvinced that there was no infection. So I took pictures and sent them to my mother and my mother in law, both of whom are RNs. Both immediately confirmed my suspicions that I did indeed have an infection. My husband helped me to the car because I couldn't walk on my own. We waited in that waiting room for over 3 hours, during which time all of my pain meds wore off. About halfway through that 3 hours I was sobbing in pain, while I watched patient after patient get taken back before me, even ones who were obviously not that sick and/or got there long after I did. I finally had enough and hobbled over to the desk to ask how long the wait was. The nurse was initially extremely rude and essentially told me to suck it up and wait. In response I demanded to know why stomach virus patients were being given precedence over a God d@mned surgical infection. I then reminded her that I had been waiting for over 3 hours, far longer than any other person in that waiting room, because she literally keeps taking back anyone and everyone except me. That took her aback a bit, and magically I had a room, a bed, and an IV within the next 5 minutes. I wound up having to do a CT scan, which involved drinking way more contrast that my sleeve could comfortably tolerate, so that they could rule out a leak or abscess to explain why I was in such intense excruciating pain. This next part is humiliating and may be tmi, fair warning. They asked me for a urine sample. By this point I was pretty dehydrated having been separated from a source of fluids for so long (this was right before the IV). I didn't think I'd have much to give them, but I said I would try. I got to the bathroom, locked the door, and sat down .... and immediately passed the most gas I have ever done in my life. It was shocking, and it lasted a good 20 seconds, I do NOT exaggerate. I could actually feel my intestines deflating and the difference in how my stomach looked after was very noticeable. Now, as you may have guessed already, that was the true source of most of my pain. I was too embarrassed to admit that to the doctor though. And one of my incisions really was infected, so that did also contribute to the pain. I include this in my story here because as embarrassing as it is, any newly sleeved person reading this, if they are having overwhelming deep pain that comes in waves, they now know that they can try passing gas and it may help. Learn from my embarrassment. I am now back at home with my antibiotics, my fluids, and a 1/3 cup of blended cream of mushroom soup. My pain is back under control, and I'm a happy camper. 2 week clear liquid diet

OMG today is day 2 and I've spent most of it in the bathroom! Sorry for the TMI. Has anyone experienced this? Is it going to last for the entire 2 week liquid diet? Oh I hope not, I'm sitting at my desk at work and you can hear my tummy rumbling. Ugh -
Sick of liquids, haven’t lost a pound
magpie26 replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So it's Sunday, and if I was you I know I would check the scale even though people told me not to. How are things going? An issue I had too (I know it's TMI) was I pretty much never pooped either. I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op too, then clear fluids, then full liquids THEN puréed then FINALLY soft food. It took me some time to lose at first but then it started and stalled and started again (we all will have annoying stalls) now I'm on a streak of great loss. You'll do great! Go slow with soft food. -
Bi-Polar Meds - The skinny and the fat
Poodles replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I loved Effexor, but it caused sexual side effects that hurt my DH. I was taken off of Effexor and put on Cymbalta. My sister is Bi-Polar, and he has found success with Cymbalta as well. That is the main reason I requested it. A side effect of Cymbalta is weight LOSS, so that is good, and I have noticed a heck of a difference in my back pain... as in it is no longer a problem. My MIL says I either don't have it any more, or don't care that it is there. It has also helped with the sexual side effects, (TMI: I can climax again and become aroused). Good luck! -

You know people, Im glad this thread was started and that we can be so open and honest with each other. You see, when i went to my support group. Everybody talked about things they wanted to be able to do once they lost weight: move better, run after their kids, i said sing, somebody said paint their nails, sit in one seat in an airplane, BUT>>> I once was on a Quest to lose weight and my motivation was to have better sex!.. Ok, that's where i am again. My hubby noticed because im able to do funky stuff again... kudos for all of us... Miriam... sorry if that was a TMI...
