    September bypass buddies??

Thank you everyone for the prayers. My bypass went very well and Dr. Taylor also fixed the hernia that I didn't know I had. I also have 6 incision sites that are in a circle. The left ones are the ones that give me constant pain if I move to suddenly or twist. Of course my body decided to start my period the day before surgery which was a major pain, especially when I received blood thinner shots in my belly. The staff took it all in stride and were wonderful. I am home and only taking liquid Tylenol for the pain. I was on morphine through the iv and then on liquid Vicodin which helped for the car ride home. I am getting in my water and most of my protein (shakes, oikos Greek yogurt, sugar free jello, broth). One of the things I noticed immediately in the hospital was everything was too sweet, even the sugar free popsicles. I had lots of broth and forced myself to have some of the jello but I mostly had lots of ice chips. I am finally able to sleep on my sides. I also use a wedge pillow in bed to help prop me up. This was wonderful to be able to sleep 4 hours without being interrupted! Walking does help immensely! I took my house shoes which are actually a pair of Crocs and I was able to walk farther because of the extra cushion from the Crocs. This helped a lot since the gas kept settling in my right shoulder and chest. TMI - The only thing I am concerned about is having my first bowel movement. I have been burping and passing gas but just haven't had to go #2. That kind of makes sense since I haven't really eaten anything that wasn't a liquid so how can you poop if you are peeing everything out? I also had a moment of questioning about surgery. I thought how could I be so selfish to have this elective surgery and inconvenience my family. Thankfully I reminded myself that this was for me and eventually my family will reap the benefits. My hubby was wonderful throughout the whole process. He was so worried that he left his slippers on when we drove to the hospital on Wednesday morning. I am truly blessed to have him in my life. Through 6 years of marriage he has stood by me and encouraged me. He combats that inner destructive voice in my head and makes me laugh. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience with bypass.
  2. Sorry if this is TMI...but I am 4 weeks out and been tolerating everything great—no issues. today, I had to strain very hard to have a bowel movement. Now, not only do I feel like I still need to go, but I have developed a burning pain that if I move just right is when I feel it—it’s not continual. But it feels like maybe I strained a muscle in my belly. It’s between the belly button and the scar where they removed the stomach out of. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be worried? Obviously I need to drink more water......but I’m worried about the pain.
  3. Oh it's not a problem unless I'm traveling in NYC, Paris, etc. You know major $hi++y cities that make you basically pay to use the restrooms if there even is one lol So I eat and stay close to place with restrooms no big deal (it's not explosive) but I was traveling for a few hrs without a chance to stop so I knew it would be a problem if I ate during that time which coincided with non fast hrs. So I screwed myself. Live and learn. Otherwise it's just quicker digestive flow and I absolutely love it. I know exactly when things go in and out. (TMI?) It has improved after VSG and even more after IF. I enjoy it most of the time, I wasn't this regular before.
  4. So my bypass surgery was on 8/28. Everything went well I woke up in the worst pain. Luckily they gave me a pain pump. I just had to remember to push it. Lol I asked everyone what to expect and still wasn’t prepared for the pain. Walking is very tiresome and talk about drinking these liquids is difficult. Sipping every 15 minutes seem impossible. But I’m not hungry. I’m able to pas gas and burping since day 2 but no BM (sorry TMI). Also my period came down super early wasn’t expecting to be bleeding from two areas😢😢 right now. I’m only sleeping for about 4/5 hours wake up, walk, bathroom, check drain then sip and surf the internet til i fall back to sleep. This has been difficult but I’m so happy i got it done i can’t wait to be fully healed and can get back to my normal life. Anyone waiting your day. It’s ok to be scared, i wouldn’t have known i had surgery had it not been for the pain I felt like i woke up soon as they put me to sleep lol. Your going to regret it at first but keep pushing through! Ps if you stopped taking the pain meds after day 1 and didn’t need help once you got home your a champ! I came and stayed at my moms and my little cousin has been a lifesaver. Also it has helped having a surgery twin and literally talking everyday and sharing experiences. Good luck to those who have upcoming surgeries, speedy recovery and I’m officially on the loser bench.

2 days post op extreme pain

Also, a TMI question. How long did it take you to have your first bowel movement after surgery. I still have not had one. Is this normal. I am 3 1/2 days post op. My last one was Sunday night the night before surgery.

    Ingrown hairs??

Sorry if this is gross/TMI/wrong forum. I've been maintaining for the past year and I've been getting a LOT of ingrown hairs "down there", where before I didn't... my partner thinks it's from loose skin causing friction or something like that. Which I guess makes sense because my stomach skin hangs down around where it happens. Has anyone else dealt with this post weight loss? A few of them have repeatedly gotten infected/started bleeding and idk what to do about it. It's gross and it looks bad and it's painful. Can loose skin cause this? Is there anything I can do to prevent it (other than the standard prevention/treatment...)?

3 days post op, could eat a horse.

Ok I just left a message with my surgeon's nurse. I know this is probably TMI but I went number 2 for the first time since my endo-sleeve surgery on the 24th and I was in the powder room for quite awhile. I hope that has something to do with it but I am really nervous.

Female Facial Hair - IS THIS EVER GOING TO END? :(

I tried Spironolactone, but because my blood pressure was always really good I couldn't get the dose high enough to be effective for hair growth without dropping my BP waaaay too low. Metformin never helped, just gave me (TMI warning) terrible diarrhea.

    Terrified of puréed phase

I am about 6 weeks post sleeve surgery. It was really hard to tolerate anything other than jello and broth at first. I never hit the protein and water daily goals. I struggled to keep a lot of foods I tried down (TMI - I vomited a lot). I spoke with my doctor about it and he said to focus on water goals and reduced the water goal to 40 ounces per day. When I had an aversion to water he said I could hit my liquid goals with Gatorade, crystal light and the like. So long story short ... I stayed on liquids a little longer despite being able to go to soft foods. Despite these food plans that say you can eat X on a certain date, you know your body and what you are ready to eat. I think it’s good to take it slow. If something doesn’t work then try it again later on down the road. Like I said in the beginning of this post, I am six weeks out. Today I can eat and drink almost anything now without any issue. As your stomach heals it gets better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How many days after surgery did you have your first poo?

The green veggies my surgeon had me eating before the surgery had me empty. I was running to the 🚽 with only diarrhea and boy was it gross(TMI Sorry). I’m worried about not going gonna call the office after tomorrow. I was told to give it a week. In the past not going would make me gain. Of course I’m still on only liquids and one protein shake a day. That could have lots to do with it also.
  11. Hi all, Sorry in advance for the TMI I am 10 days post op and I visited my dietician yesterday. She said since I was eating yogurt and pudding and keeping it down, I can slowly introduce purée into my diet. Yesterday ate puréed chicken and mashed potatoes (about 3 spoons of each). I seemed to be fine yesterday (I ate around 5 pm). However, I woke up at 4 in the morning and it felt as if my esophagus was burning and I had a weird taste in my mouth (close to vomit). I woke up in the morning and my stomach has been in knots and I feel cramps. Throughout the day it went away. I have been drinking a lot of water but I’m not 100%. I didn’t eat a thing except hot chicken broth and water. I’m not even hungry. Has anybody ever had this problem? I see the doc on Tuesday. How long did it take you (if any amount of days) to adjust to the purée diet? Pudding and yogurt I never had a problem with during the liquid stage.
  12. I have TERRIBLE diarrhea right now. For example, if I try to pass gas, I will poop myself!! Anyone experience this post-surgery? I did drink water and broth today. I also had an Italian ice. Also, I had to do that gross x-ray liquid thing. That has been the only stuff in my system. It is like I am peeing out of my butthole! Ugh

    Belly rumbles

I’m 5 days post op and my belly rumbles loud Like an irritated volcano and I have diarrhea (tmi?) 6-7 times a day. Is this normal?
  14. Omg so I’m 6 days post sleeve still on liquids and I’m starving. I wasn’t expecting to feel hungry but I am. Idk all this sugar free stuff just turns me off to the point of starvation. I’d rather drink 3 cups of 1% milk a day -27 grams of protein and once I start purée gain my protein thru can chicken or fish, etc.- than drink another protein shake. I just ate some jello because I was so hungry I couldn’t sleep. I don’t feel weak or anything. Pain is pretty much gone. Any tips to fill full while on liquids. They literally run thru me. TMI but I’m experiencing lose bowels which I read was normal. ANYWAYS HELP.

How often do you weigh in?

I weigh daily - every morning after a bathroom stop (TMI). I have been consistent. I am starting to relax about stalls and minor fluctuation, Last week was tough, as I was on vacation, and our vacation house didn't have a scale. I was worried all week!

    June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Hey Sleevers! So tomorrow marks 2 Months.... I'll share my stats below but i'm down 27 pounds.... most of that was lost at the beginning and I wish i could say I wasn't hoping for a little more loss but its also a hell of a lot more then it would be without my sleeve. So I will try and remember not to let it get me down and just continue pushing forward. I did start going to the Gym last week and it had not been easy but it has gotten better with each visit. The first time i thought i was gonna die from dehydration. So now I make sure I drink as much as i can before I go and that has helped. I feel sore as a hell but I take that as a good thing. I feel like all 27 pounds lost were from my butt so I figured the gym will help with that lol. The biggest problem I've had is food.... I never know what is gonna sit well. Today I had a salad and now I've felt sick all day! The stuff that seems to stick without issue is the bad stuff.... pizza, chipotle, mashed potatoes.... That right there is the reason I'm losing slow.... I want to eat the healthy stuff but it happens every time I eat and then I gotta run to the RR.... TMI i know but anyone else running into this? If so anyone had any luck with getting better. Stats: HW:202 SW:197 CW:175 GW:125-135

    August bypassers/sleevers

I had my surgery at 10 am today it went really well!! When I woke up I was very nauseous and threw up/coughed up blood a few times (sorry tmi but wanted to share my experience) they stated that was normal because of the tube in my throat. I also had bad chest gas pain so I started walking about 45 minutes after surgery in the recovery room. The nurses were pretty surprised so I guess that’s good 😀 then they moved me up to my room where I walked again, since then I have switched between walking and sleeping most of the time and I am having very little gas now and my stomach pain is very small, about a 2 out of 10. I am so happy with my experience so far! I felt bad for my neighbor as they had the surgery as well and were begging for food or water. I am not sure they understood they wouldn’t be eating today. But I haven’t felt hungry yet! I brought dry mouth spray and that has been a life saver!

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

@Dianne737 had my sleeve Tuesday, left side sore and still have the gas. Other then that good. Putting this out there maybe tmi, anyone have bowel movement, I have not, is this normal?
  20. I'm going to try to not be too graphic here but I wanted to share this. I was sleeved 8 days ago, on Tues. Thursday afternoon, I started taking the stool softner they gave me but it wasn't doing the trick. Friday, I was a little worried but was able to go a little . Every time I felt the need to go, it was like I was trying to pass a golf ball or more like, golf balls! On Monday, I called and talked to my NUT and she suggested Magnesium Citrate. I asked about Miralax and she said that would be ok. I got some Miralax and started that Monday evening. I had some more attempts but things were so hard and my this time, I was definitely impacted ALOT. My butt was hurting and sore from all the straining and fissures that had happened. Tuesday morning, again, painful and horrible. This stuff had to get out. I sent my daughter out for some Magnesium Citrate and when she got home, I gave it a try. I was supposed to drink the whole bottle. It's 10 oz and I drank a few ounces but that stuff was so nasty! I called my husband and asked him to bring an enema on his way home from work. Last night, I went to the bathroom and prepared myself the best I could. I then realized that this was not a one person job. My husband kindly and gently helped. I don't see how people can hold an enema in for very long. I think I may have made it just in 2 minutes. What followed, well, I'm not going to go into detail. It was gross and painful, poopy and bloody. But I knew there was still some stuck in there. There was about 1/3 of the enema left in the bottle and I called my husband up and hoped that would finish the job. Round 2. Again, about 2 minutes later, I'm on the toilet. God, I hope that's the last time to do all that. I cleaned up, got some preparation H and went back down stairs to take my nightly does of Miralax. In the middle of the night, I got up and yep, passed some more not quite golf balls. And, this morning I got up and had to go. I'm so sore but I had to act of the urge. I was so happy to finally have something that resemble a normal poop. Kind of ballish to begin with but then there was like, alot after that that wasn't. After that, I called and spoke with my surgeon just inform her and to ask about this hardness on my right side (which I think could be, yep, you got it poop in my colon/large intestines). She agreed but said as long as it wasn't painful (and it's not) to keep with the miralax daily and plenty of water. Best thing about it is that she said I could go ahead and eat some food, like eggs and other soft food. What has your poop journey been? What do you find is helpful in dealing with constipation? If you have dealt with it, does it improve? I never had issues with constipation in the past. I don't want to get impacted again, that's for sure!

    None of Your Business!

Do you go around sharing details of every surgery or medical procedure you’ve had? I don’t think you need to tell most people about your medical history and doctor-approved treatment(s). TMI. Do you expect all the men you know to divulge issues with their prostates or hearts, or women with their ovaries or other internal organs (for example)? It is no one else’s business but your own. As well, people don’t need to know why you eat the way you do. Again, none of their business. I advocate that you be as circumspect as possible.
  23. I have RNY bypass on Wednesday. The belching is about to make me insane no matter how small of sips I take I still belch constantly. TMI but they are very liquidity sounding. I have heard about other people using gas x strips. Would they help with the belching? I’m about to be insane, especially since I never ever belched pre-op.... :(
  24. Omg this post is TMI but for others who can understand: I FINALLY had a BM on day 4 postop. I had to strain a little which made me nervous but I feel like 10 pounds lighter and so much less uncomfortable!! Phewwwwwww!!

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

This may be TMI so, let me say sorry up front. Day Five of this liquid protein and green veggies diet. Is anyone else on the liquid green veggies diet having some serious diarrhea?? Woke up in the middle of the night running to the bathroom and it’s all green. 😂 ewww. Then before I took my kids to camp again. I can’t keep eating green veggies if this is gonna keep happening. I will be stuck at home all weekend. It’s so uncomfortable using work bathrooms. I don’t use public bathrooms at all. I always hold it until I get home. However with what’s going on now, not sure I will be able to hold it. 🤦🏽‍♀️ ugh 😠 annoyed that I still have a 8 days to go.
