Wow! You lost alot! Good for you!! I'm at 5 weeks today and I've lost only 15lbs:( it's very hard to stay positive and be patient right now bc of that...so I've been doing what I do best unfortunately and eat the wrong things or eat too much. It really stinks! I was trying to be what I call active which isn't much unfortunately but now I haven't even been doing that! Idk whats going on with me...I had 2 premiere protein shakes today and my 4 chewable vitamins and still hurt all over and have no energy. I probably didn't have enough water though now that I think about it. Gosh, I gotta start logging everything I eat and drink. I have been slacking with so much since I've had marital problems going on, family issues, and daughter going off to college, and my 2 lil boys are just driving me nuts this summer:/ I need to step my game up I guess ughhh Well anyways, glad your healing real well and feeling good! I hope to join you there soon lol Sent from my SM-G981U using BariatricPal mobile app

When does it get better!?
Christina Phillips replied to SweetCatastrophy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How are you feeling now? I also had my surgery on June 14th 21. And boy oh boy I couldn't agree with you more! I'm just now feeling like a normal human being again. With that said though, I actually have had a a few days here n there where I was so super weak and shakey. But as in pain I'm much much better than I was those first 2 or even 3 weeks. I just cried n cried alot. I also didn't have a good support system whatsoever either though so I was going through alot besides having major surgery. I think I'm weak and shakey bc I'm not getting in my fluids and protein like I should be. How much have you lost? I actually have only lost 14 lbs! And I'm very concerned about that! [emoji53] I don't mind being a slow loser but I'm terrified like I'd be the one in a million who just DOESN'T lose the weight lol I am also not very active like I was trying to be before. I thi k I'm just being down n depressed and giving up already:( but hopefully it's a just a stage I'm in and will snap outta it soon. I hope your feeling better!! Let me know:) take care!! It will get better!!! 3 weeks seems to be when things start to look up! Just try to stay as busy as possible. Walking is a great distraction! I really missed drinking in large gulps and at 3 weeks I could! Use this time to research puréed and soft food recipes bc it will give you foods to look forward to. Once your on puréed it seems like the cravings go away… good you can’t have still of course looks good, but I felt more satisfied so it felt better. Pain went away and I felt like I made the right decision! I am almost 5 weeks and I do more then I did before. I walk 3mi per day, kayak and pretty much whatever I want!

Mine also lasted until week 3 then it just disappeared! I’m week 4 now. Walk as much as you can, It really really helps overall! If I could avoid wearing jeans out then I would sneak unbuttoning them while I sat bc they really irritate the stitch near the belly button! Good luck!!

I’m 9 days post op and have lost 13 pounds this week. It’s been crazy. I’m doing loads better now surgery wise but my back decided to give me issues now so I’ve been down and out bc of that. I’m now on soft foods. Everything so far seems to be great. I wanted to add my sugar levels have been really high still so dr is telling me to take metformin still. Today my sugars are finally seeing low so doc said I can go off meds once there normal.

What was your tipping point?
2021NewMe replied to 3tallwomen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have so many tipping points! as I know many of us probably have, its hard to chose like one particular thing bc just being obese is a reason bc it is linked to so many issues, not just physically but mentally. being obese messes with your state of mind, I think just being obese stops you from being who you trully are meant to be. its stops you from many things that an otherwise healthy or not obese person would do, bc they would not have the same issues that me with my experience with being obese does. I dont like to make obesity into a negative thing, bc there are plenty of obese people that are comfortable in their bodies, but I was not one of them. it really did hinder me from enjoying or doing things and I knew it was only a matter of time that I got a more serious condition that would only further my inability to enjoy life. I wanted a more healthier quality of living. so atleast I can live and be more normal and be a part of society and be comfortable in my own body. -
Lying about not getting surgery is awful
2021NewMe replied to GinormousReislin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have a friend that I known for many years that was always on the obese side, she suddenly lost so much weight and I swear the first thing I thought was she got the surgery, the thing is that when I asked she said she was on a diet that kaiser put her on with shakes and stuff, but I know she got the surgery. now that I know what is required and how she was acting when we met for coffee and she just drank water. well anyways, I felt like that was messed up that she would not share it when I myself had weight issues with obesity. I felt like she must not be a true friend if she cant share such an important issue I would never have judged her, I am not like that I think its a privacy issue for her. I myself did share but with a small circle of five people closest to me. now is it and will it eventually leak out YES of course bc if you dont want it to get out tell nobody. so i expect it to someday be something that everyone might know and that is ok if someday just not now or immediately bc I am not a reality show and I dont want everyone all up in my business all asking me questions, wanting to see me and like no privacy. I dont mind people knowing my business but in my time, at my pace when I am good and ready and think people are worthy of knowing any of my business. -
I already needed much lipo in all my body bc I am in my mid 40s, but now after surgery I think I might have to really do some sort of lipo to tighten the skin. although I have not been exercising and that I know will help with skin sagging so i am going to try to do light lifting for arms. and maybe more weight resistance. I have been cleaning my house organizing and keeping active in other ways but I have to be more like dedicated to keep up with the weekly weight loss.

Hey everyone! Uff, what a crazy few months! So, even though I'm not in a relationship, it turns out I have to go on BC anyways because...tragedy struck. I'm down to only half of an ovary! I suffered TWO ovarian torsions due to enlarged, hemorrhagic cysts. I lost my right ovary completely (it died and had to be surgically removed) and the remaining half of an ovary, while it was able to be saved, had to be repositioned and reconstructed. So, needless to say, I have to take some kind of BC to control the cyst growth if I don't want to end up in premature surgical menopause. I'm only 31 so I definitely don't want that! Anyways, after trying the hormonal IUD and HATING it (TERRIBLE pain, excessive bleeding, etc), my gyno suggested a low-dose BC pill that instead of taking orally, I take vaginally. Apparently, this is something that women do if they want to help bypass the side-effects of the Pill. It's only suggested for cyst prevention however, as this method isn't super effective for preventing pregnancy. Thank you all once again for all of your input!

Absolutely, very wise to recover fully first. After our bodies have been through so much like BS and plastics over the last few years - I have not felt comfortable introducing a pre-qualified vaccine - experimental therapy just yet. I have never done well with flu shots understanding this is much more serious. I continue to research the latest information and glad you are doing the same. Hubby has had his shots. So kind and supportive of him to still wear his mask when we go out together... I know this is not an OOTD but a well dressed master bedroom - so cheerful and happy!

July 2021 Surgery People!
Jeseca832 replied to Sammys_VSG_Evolution's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m on the food parade too!! My surgery is July 20th and my liquid diet starts the 6th. So I’m having my favorite foods and bc I will be on a soft or puréed diet for my 40th bday we are celebrating with a cake this weekend. However going shopping for my liquids is going to be a reality check I’m sure!!! -
Oh wow I can barely walk let alone drive. I am 2 and a half weeks out and still can't get in my bed! Glad you are able to drive and stuff though. I guess the reason why two of my incisions hurt more than the others is bc they used larger rods in those ones. Also bc I guess they had to stich up the muscles and stuff they said. Idk I don't get it lol I just know I feel like my muscles are like tearing when I move certain ways:( hopefully it will get better though..
-
Thank you so much! Does anyone else have like 2 incisions that are wayyy more painful than the rest? Two of mine hurt real bad when I stand up and move alot. I'm trying to get my walking in but I literally have to hold my stomach with my hands real tight in order to not hurt bc it literally feels like my muscles are just tearing apart! I can't even get into my own bed still. I'm basically living in my livingroom on my recliner. I want to sleep in my bed on my side so bad but I tried the other day and omg I thought I was gonna die trying to get up! My dr said that I just basically pulled my muscles in my stomach and that I will eventually be ok lol. Also, he told me how I should be losing 3 lbs a week at this point. I sure hope so lol bc I've only lost 12 lbs so far so I hope I keep losing🙏🤞 And my dr said how he wants me to be walking 10miles I almost fell of the table lol 😆 but I know I know it's a lifestyle change so I gotta just stay positive and try n try n try bc I gotta get healthy so I can get back to work! I will be praying for everyone on here for a quick recovery!

Yeah my periods have pretty much been normal for a decade since going on Metformin for PCOS and IR (was taken off BC pills decades earlier due to high BP). Anyway, the day before surgery I got my period and it was light for a few days (3) then heavy for a few (like 2) then disappeared. Normally my period would come about every 29-34 days. It would be heavy the first two days then end around day 4 or 5. My surgeon told me at the hospital after surgery that it would most likely come on time again in 4 weeks but may be different than I'm used to. He also said I may need to worry about birth control if I hadn't already been on it, but lucky for me my husband has been fixed so no worries with that. LOL Anyway, when it came roughly 30 days after surgery I was not surprised. It was a lil heavier than I was used to but it seemed to end after 3 days! I was shocked and excited about that. However, it was short lived. By day 5 it came back. Not a full fledged period, but enough to be there when I would pee and wipe but not enough to show on a pad, really. That lasted for like 5 more days. Really weird but not too unexpected based on what the surgeon said. He also said my next several periods may be unusual compared to how they were in the past as my body and hormones adjust. I'm sure you're going through the same thing.

Hello, Anyone else's menstrual cycle totally messed up after surgery? I've always been very regular, I have one child (he's 2, I'm 34 for reference). I had my period a few days before surgery, then about 4 weeks later I got another as expected although it was very heavy. About 2 weeks after that I began bleeding again, it was like a light period for a few days and then I've just been bleeding lightly on an and off since then. I mostly see it when I pee and wipe, but sometimes there is breakthrough bleeding as well (it's mostly darker in color). Now I'm due for what should be a regular period but I can't even tell if it's coming because I'm still having irregular bleeding. I am on the mini pill for birth control. I did speak to my surgeon's office and he suggested the hormones in my birth control may not be enough now but he generally didn't seem super knowledgeable on the issue. I do have an OBGYN appointment scheduled soon for my annual so I'll talk to them as well. I understand you cannot provide medical advice but I'm just curious if others have experienced this after surgery? If so how long did it last for you? I would love to get back to my normal cycle and not this BS. Thanks!

Your doctor should be able to prescribe something for the nausea. But often it will make you drowsy to check if it's safe to drive while taking it. So sorry you're dealing with this! My periods used to make me really sick, too! I will have to go off BC to have the surgery and I'm not looking forward to it. I hope you find something that helps!

@laurenantics I had my surgery 6/8. I was not to change into my own nightgown if I wanted, but I actually just put shorts on under their gown and put a robe over to walm around. I had an iv in until discharge. To walk around I had to push the iv pole with me. I did no shower bc I was only there over night, but showered as soon as I got home. I drank slot of water prior to surgery. The morning of surgery the surgeon required me to drink a regular 20oz Gatorade 2 hrs before arrival. Good luck to you! It’s not easy, but definitely worth it! Your asking great questions!

I’m actually dropping more weight bc of the slight calorie increase believe it or not! I am hitting the protein goals bc of the shakes and alot of eggs, but I have a hard time meeting calories, but that’s ok. I am suppose to eat 6 1-2oz meals a day, but I am just meeting that at the end of the 1st week of purée. At first I could only do 1oz and only did 4 meals. Now going into the 2nd week of purée I can almost do 2oz per meal and fitting in about 5 meals per day.

Thanks so much! I love Vega Vanilla and chocolate protein powder as well as PB protein powder each mixed with almond milk. I also just discovered Ghost protein powder which is amazing! Literally tastes like cereal milk, chips ahoy etc.. and you can buy samples! You definitely want broth and sugar free popsicles. Both we’re life savers! In the full liquid stage any cream soup you like will be your go to… get a strainer bc you will use that a lot! Also get a few protein shaker bottles! A scale is a must have! Order your vitamins and protein ahead of time for sure! I bought but don’t use baby spoons or anything like that bc you can judge how much a tiny bite is. Look up lots of full liquid and purée recipes especially the ricotta bake for purée! I don’t feel like my tastes have changed and I have no cravings! I have gone out for pizza with my family and it did not bother me at all. There are times I literally have to remind myself I need to eat! Plan to walk a lot it helps so much and fills the food void. My biggest problem was over preparing and being hard on myself, it helped but I literally thought I had control over this process and I have very little. I just go hour by hour, day by day as far as what I need to be doing. Good luck to you! It’s so worth it! Keep the questions coming!

Doing well! I’m down 30 since the surgery. Total of 61lbs since I began this journey (2/21). I move on to soft foods next week. I have had a few incidents (vomit) mainly bc I tried to rush eating solids.
