Almost 10 months post sleeve, and I have noticed that it's time for me to add in one more lifestyle change on top of my plant based diet. I have added IF, intermittent fasting, 16:8. I was going to wait until one year, but it seems as if I've got to a standstill and I've got about 30-40 lbs to lose still. For those who don't know, IF is not a diet...it's just changing WHEN you eat. I fast for 16 hours (mostly sleeping) and then I eat all my food within 8 hours (or I try to). I work out during my fast as well for extra benefits. I implemented it three days ago and I'm down 2 lbs now. I used to do IF during my obese days and I was successful for three months, changing my body's physique and burning fat, BUT I wasn't successful in my head. I'm sure I probably got injured (as it was always happening then) and I succumbed to emotional eating as I always did. Now, my head is in a better place, and I'm in control MOST of the time. Still not perfect, and probably never will be, but I'll strive to be so. So, here's to a Newme...in 2018 too!

@nursejackie, I know about the night eating...it's a habit I have too (I still struggle with wanting to eat right before bed). With the IF, I fast from 7pm to11am. Lots of water gets me through during the hours I'm awake during the fast, but, as time goes on, it gets easier to do and I meet my water goal. The first three days are hardest, at least for me. Since I wake up most mornings at 6am...I tie my fast over with a cup of coffee and about 35 calories of creamer in it which isn't enough to actually break my fast. Currently, I'm doing a moderate workout (bike, elliptical) for about 45 mins in the mornings before I break the fast. (I brought a banana with me the first few days, just in case my body couldn't handle it, but I was fine without it). The hardest part is trying to eat all my food in the 8 hour window. I felt too full the first day. Scaled back on some and felt better the next. Then I decided I'm not going to worry about it and just make sure I eat when I'm hungry. I do always try to eat something right before I start the fast again though. So far, it's been going well.
I'll try my best to update every so often.

Well, I had my last diet visit yesterday and also met with my surgeon and signed the gastric bypass consent form! Time to wait for insurance approval, purchase vitamins and protein shakes/broths, and start getting prepared. I will likely be having surgery some time between February 5 and 16. Due to having surgery in a different city and staying with family for recovery, the only week I would be able to do in January would be the 15th-19th and that would require getting approved within the next 2 weeks, which isn't likely. So.... early February! Between 7 to 8 weeks from now. How did this happen so fast?!

Thursday, September 6, is my surgery date. Coming fast, actually I'm looking forward to feeling better. My surgery is not based on weight but health.

Trying some intermittent fasting. My last meal was at 6pm yesterday.

Not all day, but from dinner last night (around 6pm last night until 1pm today). My surgeon had suggested early on that I try reducing myself to 2 meals instead of 3 meals per day. I am trying to incorporate it every now and then. I've been doing it all week and I feel like I've regained some of the restriction and I'm less hungry overall.

@brittu low carb for life, lol. I just feel better when I'm low carb. I broke the fast with some baked chicken, nothing else. I feel good. :-) When my hunger started picking up, I knew I needed to fast.

Hey!
I'm not really nervous, anxious is more like it. I am so ready to shed these pounds, I work out like crazy, which does kind of help because I'm building muscle, but I can't wait to have the surgery mostly because I hear the young people slim down pretty fast unlike the older patients. My mom had the surgery done in Nov 2008, she has lost a lot of weight which is why she said if I wanted to get the surgery, I could. I think it will give me that little "push" I need to get back into a healthy lifestyle.
I have to send you another msg bc I am out of characters.

I felt the same way at 22lbs. Don't worry it will happen...you know like they say "slow and steady wins the race". You dont want to lose it too fast and be all saggy! I am doing great! I tried on some size 12's last night and they fit!!! I was so happy I wanted to cry! I still have 23 more lbs to lose though....maybe....lol

Yes I saw your new pics you posted. I love the fro with the red hair. How did u get the fro? Did u roll it with rods and then combed it out?
As far as your job.....don't let them get to u. Its your decision if you want to keep it a sercet or reveal it. (your lapband) If I was you I'll let them know in a professial way (since you are at work) that you know they are talking about you and you don't appreciate it. If they have something to say they can come to you.
People was telling me that I lost my weight fast....which is not true, because I lost 50 lbs in 10 months and my doctor is trying to encourge me to lose a little faster. People just like to find something to talk about. So girlllllllllllllllllllllllll lose that weight and give them more to talk about!!!!

day 5 other the drinking too fast the only pain I have felt has been from vacuuming the living room but that was very mild. My experience has been awsome so far. My surgeon did a great job.

Hi! You are totally on track! I lost 19 pounds during my pre-op diet (it was two weeks and five days of only slim fast shakes and two cups of veggies). I've lost about 8 pounds since surgery, waiting until tomorrow to update my ticker. I started the mushy phase yesterday....have you started that yet? I'm expecting my weight loss to slow down with that.

My nutritionist told me to have about 60 grams of protein but she wants me to go up to 80 grams. My aunt had this surgery and she also told me that she doesn't do well with meats. My band isn't filled yet so I can take in drinks pretty fast. I go back to the doctor on the 27th and possibly getting filled.
Thanks for your help

Hi Laura, I am ok now Thanks for asking. It was about 3 to 4 days after my fill. I started getting stuck after eating all my normal foods. I usually eat all the same things. I stick to the same foods most of the time I am so boring. I found I needed to eat even slower and chew even MORE. It so much more painful after the fill. The experience although is a learning one at the same time. I do not know how to burp so it is hard for me. I do know what the slime is and have had a little of that. That is gross the whole stuck feeling is grossing me out. I take at least 45 minutes now to eat. I used to take 30 mins. Going very very slow is KEY and listening to your body will help. If I get talking I forget how fast I am eating I may have trouble. I have never been able to eat pasta.

I am doing good today. The first 5 days were rough. I could not get out of bed for a long period of time. I felt like crap but I have been improving ever since. I am excersing again. Just doing the treadmill and eliptical for about 20 mins a day. I am down 15 lbs since surgery. I have a bad problem of weighing everyday sometimes twice a day. I try not to but I cant help it. Its like I want the scale to go down a lb a day but I have to realize that fast weight lost is not good for my body. Slow and steady....I am learning. This is my final week of liquids and I Thank GOD!!! This has been a challenge for me...watching my husband and 2yr old eat spaghetti, pizza, chicken. I am getting thru. Didn't mean to ramble. We are doing it!!!
