    Yes, I am losing handfuls of hair every time I shampoo. I really hope it stops soon...it's a little un-nerving! I also wanted to report that after my three week stall I'm suddenly losing again, currently at 204. I haven't changed much - maybe a little more stringent on carbs, and I have been tracking again. Good to know that stalls DO pass and it doesn't mean weight loss phase is over!

    Yes it's amazing . I remember being two days post op and barely able to sip & now I can drink more and it's the little things. I've also been going to the gym as I hit the dreaded three week stall lol
  5. You are sabotaging yourself by reverting back to liquids and lowering your calories. You're putting your body into starvation mode and teaching it how to survive on less and less calories. This is unhealthy and certainly not conducive to weightloss and especially long term maintenance. Not sure what kind of expectations you had, but 9 pounds in one month is a good rate of loss. Plus you are right about where most people experience the infamous "three week stall". Do a search and you will find hundreds of posts on it. Totally normal and part of the process, as is gaining a few pounds along the way. You say you drink water till you're nauseous. How much are you drinking? It should be 1/2 your body weight in ounces. If you are having a hard time with water (I couldn't drink plain water for over 6 months), you can try herbal tea, sports drinks, water flavor drops, infused water, milk, or any other non carbonated, low cal beverage. How about protein? Every program is different, but 80+ g/day works for me. just stick with the program and stay off the scale for a month if you need to. Gauge your progress with NSVs and how your clothes fit.

    Estrogen and weight stall

    I can't speak to the estrogen, but I can tell you that almost everyone experiences a stall at about the 3 week mark. Search "three week stall" on this forum or in google and you'll find tons about it. My advice is to stay off of the scale for the first month. Your body is desperately trying to begin the healing process and that takes priority for it over losing weight. Your job is to meet your protein and water goals everyday and stick to your plan regarding your food stages. If you do everything you are supposed to do, the weight will start to come off eventually.   7. I agree with @_Kate_. Stay off of the scale for the first month. Your body is healing and making the necessary adjustments, so your weight will fluctuate. Also, almost everyone experiences the "three week stall" (search the forum for countless threads on it or just google it in general for more information). Concentrate on meeting your protein and water goals over anything else right now. If you follow your plan, the weight will begin to come off. Patience is really important in this journey! Good luck!

    Zero weight lost

    A lot of people don't lose at all in the first week or so as the body is adjusting and trying to heal. And then, at week 3 or so, you'll encounter the "three week stall." That happens to almost everyone, too. If you follow your plan and meet your protein and water goals every day, the weight will start to come off. I had to accept early on that post-op weight loss was never going to be linear.
  9. You are just experiencing the "three week stall" that everyone goes through. Your body just went through a traumatic surgery and is concentrating more on healing at the moment than anything else. Your job right now is to meet your protein and water goals, and to work through your food stages. This isn't the most fun time in the journey, but it is an important time. You will feel better and better as the days and weeks go by. When you are hungry, have a protein shake (or part of a protein shake). That always helped me. Good luck!
  10. When you say weight is creeping back on, how much weight are you talking about? If it is just a pound or two, you're likely experiencing the "three week stall" that almost everyone experiences. If this is the case, you should stay concentrate on meeting your protein and water goals, and the weight will start to come off again. If you have gained a significant amount of weight, I would talk it over with your team.
  11. I really needed to see this. I am having a blah day today and although I don't want to imagine that anyone else can relate I am actually glad that I am not alone. Wow, I seriously seem to be in this three-week stall. However, I have been trying to stay upbeat because approximately two weeks after my surgery (VSG) I passed a kidney stone (never had one before) and then the other one had to be surgically removed. Sigh. So I've been at 262.4 for right at three weeks now. I went to the gym for the first time today. I'm still a bit achy, but I'm trying to push through everything without getting depressed.
  12. It is quite common and physiologically normal - it would be abnormal for one to lose more in the second or later months than in the first month. What is happening is that when we go on to a serious caloric deficit, we that deficit is made up mostly from our short term energy reserves of glycogen (basically stored carbohydrates), which burns quite rapidly (around 2000 calories per pound lost.) Once the glycogen is depleted, the body needs to replenish that supply to a functional level and we frequently stall or pause for a short time - the "three week stall" that we often read about here. Once the glycogen stores are back up some and our body gets the idea that this caloric deficit thing that you are doing to it is a serious thing, it starts drawing from our longer term energy stores of fat - which is what we are really here for. However (there's always a "however"!) fat burns more slowly than glycogen (around 3500 calories per pound lost) so the weight comes off more slowly now, but we are doing what we came here to do - burn fat. Note that this has nothing at all to do with "ketogenic" diets or miracle "fat burning" potions - it's strictly the result of being in a prolonged caloric deficit. As a side note, I lost 32 lb the first month and 15 each of the next two months. with roughly the same caloric intake, so right on profile.

    Search "three week stall." This stall happens to almost everyone. Stay off of the scale for a while. Concentrate on meeting your protein and water goals. The weight will come off in time. Good luck!

    Stalled

    The three week stall is infamous! It sucks but you'll get through it. There are lots of good reasons why it's happening and none of them have to do with anything you're doing, so keep following your program, trust the process, etc. This article was immensely helpful to me.

  16. I'm three weeks out, and I've hit my first stall. I didn't think it would happen so quickly, but I just saw someone referring to it as "the three-week stall", so I guess I'm on target. :unsure:

      Try not to stress; it is completely normal, and most everyone goes through the first stall at week 3. My loss pre-op was very linear -- 3 pounds a week every week for six months. Post-op, it is more of a step function. I drop 8-10 pounds in 1-1.5 weeks, and then I stall for 1-1.5 weeks. Then it repeats. It is maddening, but it is the reality of the situation.

      this will happen from time to time.... evaluate what your doing.... what your eating and how much... and your exercise... When i hit a stall... i would up the movement or start something new

      You prob. started taking in more food... this is when you need to start moving more.

      YOu know the old saying..... Eat less-move more

  17. @whitesale Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Im going on three months post op and have had no less than 4/FOUR crazy long stalls. That's crazy, right! It happens. Trust me it will get better. I did the Keto diet starting at about a month ago to jumpstart weight loss again after an almost three week stall. It's not for everyone but it works for me. I was hungry as hell everyday until last week now I've suddenly lost all hunger. The one thing I've learned is that your body will react to this sleeve differently from week to week.   18. The three week stall is very very real. Look into it. Your period can cause some fluctuation too
  19. I had the very same thing happen, lost 25 lbs in first two weeks. Week three I started soft foods and had no change in weight for a full week. Period started, lasted for a week and finally now at week six weight loss has started again. Just be patient...seems the two/three week stall is common and then the PMS weight adds to it.   20. You are probably just experiencing the "three week stall" that is well documented on this forum. Outside of that, the body does a lot of weird things during the first few weeks as it adjusts to a new normal. What are you consuming at this point? I can't imagine it is much, but there may also be an answer in that...

  22. Don't worry! I stalled in week 3 .. It's the dreaded three week stall.. Everyone goes through it.. Consider it a right of passage.. And week 5 I gained 2 lbs! It's just your internal thermostat regulator adjusting your body is freaking out! Now, with that being said.. I freaked out too.. Just try and relax.. Do what your supposed to do and it will come off!! I'm 5 months out and including pre-op I'm down 72 lbs.. You'll get there!! . Also, look up the Instagram community for support too..   23. I had GB surgery Nov. 8. I dropped 26 pounds in the first three weeks. I hit the expected three week stall and didn't lose any weight for about two weeks then I suddenly dropped 6 pounds. I weigh myself once a month because I know it can be addictive. Well I haven't felt any difference in my body so curiosity got the best of me. Since Dec 18th, I weigh the SAME! I haven't lost any weight or inches since then and it's almost been a month. Does this sound right to you guys? I do about 600-700 calories a day, 60 oz of Water, 60-70 Protein, and I try to stay under 15 carbs a day. Please explain what I'm doing wrong . I read a few success stories if ppl that have lost at least 40 pounds two months out, and while I know we shouldn't compare cause everyone loses different, I can't help but feel disappointed in myself. I still haven't been approved for working out since I still have pain and pulling in my left side but I just don't think that's it...I welcome positive criticism so if you feel like I'm doing this wrong I'm all ears with a solution to my problem.
