That is an awesome NSV Congrats on your weight loss. Moments like those are priceless. I too have never had anybody pick me up..

I have to share it here, my DH is clueless about why my NSV's bring me sheer ~J.O.Y~. 1.Let me say I feel giddy inside. Like I'm a little kid and Christmas is coming, but it's every day that I feel this way. 2. I LOVE how my back feels soooooo much better, my hips don't hurt every time I sneeze, cough, roll over in the middle of the night, or when I bend over. 3. My house is cleaner, and I actually WANT to paint, redecorate, etc... 4. I'm actually EXERCISING!!! ME? Exercising??? Yes!!!! I can't believe it, and the best part about it is, I actually LIKE it!!! Plus, my sister, my best friend, and my neighbor are so excited that I'm exercising that they want to do it with me! 5. I'm a nicer mom, I feel like I am enjoying my children in a way that I've never enjoyed them. And I've only lost 22 lbs!! 6. I enjoy the "fun stuff" with my DH sooo much more (yes, the REALLY fun stuff!!) 7. My right knee doesn't hurt anymore, and it's been at least 3 years since it hasn't hurt! 8. My stomach is the flattest it's been since before I got pregnant for my first baby. I can't believe how great that feels. 9. I got to donate my sz. 22 jeans, and buy 18's. I havent worn that size since 1990!!! 10. I can bend over and not feel like my face is going to rupture from the pressure. Wow! What an amazing thing! I could list a dozen more. Most importantly, I feel like I have so much more to look forward to. And I want to add... I don't always respond to the posts on this board, but I do read them, and they are an important part of my day. Each triumph, every heartache, everyone elses scale and NSV's, every word of advice, wisdom and encouragement are taken to heart and have an important part in how I now see MY world, and my thoughts, prayers and best wishes are there every time I read someone elses post. This board matters........I wouldn't have gone to Mexico without everyones encouragement and advice. And knowing that this board was here for me when I got home was one of the reasons I went through with going to Mexico and got my "wonder band" Thanks to you all. You're simply wonderful and greatly appreciated!

So here is a question, are you rewarding yourself at your goals?
BetsyB replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For every 10 pounds lost, I buy a charm/bead for my Pandora bracelet. Each charm somehow represents a part of my journey. (I have a dog because my dog, Truman, is my personal trainer; I have a gym shoe; etc. I'm about to buy one that represents the story The Princess and the Pea because now that I'm thinner, I feel every lump and bump in clothing and in bed! LOL) In addition to buying charms when I hit 10 pounds down, I have commemorated certain milestones with a charm, as well--getting under 200 pounds, losing 50 pounds, losing 75 pounds. By the time I reach goal, the bracelet will be full. Otherwise, my rewards have been new jeans that fit every now and then. And all kinds of NSVs. When I hit goal, I hope to have plastic surgery to rearrange all these body parts that are so much smaller and further south. -
Fear Of The Scale....my Precious!
Mz_Elle commented on Mz_Elle's blog entry in Mimi's Journey 07/03/2012
LOL Gmanbat. I needed that one. It's been almost a week and I have not given in to My Precious. I also has NSV today in that I am COMFORTABLY in a 2X shirt. (Previously I rolled in the 4Xes. 3Xes if it was stretchy). My 2X black peasant blouse is doing me well. -
One Year Bandiversary Well, I’m about here. Next Friday will be my one year mark since receiving the band. <O:p</O:p In this first year, I achieved 77% of my weight loss goal, going from 307 to 244 pounds, for a total loss of 63 pounds, leaving 19 more to go. The weight loss period is not over yet. Since I still have up to 2 years of potential weight loss left to go, I am confident I will get that last 19 pounds off, and realistically, had I followed all of the Bandster rules religiously, I am sure I would have already taken those pounds off, too. <O:p</O:p How did the year go? I went from abject terror prior to surgery, full of fear from reading the various threads and claims about successes and failures, to an immediate sense that “everything would be alright” on the morning that I awoke from my really, not very invasive surgery. Sure, the incision from my port hurt a lot for the first two weeks. And the nausea I experienced for the first 10 was so monumental, that the memory still stays with me. But after that initial recovery period, I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to receive this life saving device. <O:p</O:p Other than the occasional bout of having food that I shouldn’t eat, or that I ate to fast, come back up, I don’t have any side effects at all. <O:p</O:p How did life get better, and what are those NSV’s that are always asked for at the one year mark? I have had many, many more than the ones listed below, but here are the ones that come to mind: <O:p</O:p 1) My wife and I delivered a healthy baby boy 2) My blood pressure went from around 154/100 to about 121 over 75 3) My pulse went from an average of 110 to about 65-70 4) My painful, swollen feet which were so bad that I couldn’t walk in the morning, are no longer swollen or painful. In fact, they’re just fine. 5) My shortness of breath, which left me red and stressed and gasping after walking only a few blocks, is completely gone. Now when I go running with my dog, the dog runs out of energy well before I do. 6) As my weight fell away, my physicality picked up to the point that I am much more active in my favorite sports, (i.e. karate, skiing, walking and running.) I can ski for 6 hours straight, and the only reason I get off the runs, is because the lifts close, not because my legs are tired, and not because I can’t breathe. Now I am planning on rock climbing, hiking, and biking. I would have never considered this before, and now I really look forward to it. In fact, I feel like I have to do it, because my other exercises seem to fall short in terms of trying to get my heart rate up, and trying to really get a good workout. 7) My knees no longer hurt. 8) At night, I used to gasp, and feel like I was suffocating. I had to lean up in bed in order to breathe. I used to snore really loud, and my dear wife just had to deal with it. Now, I don’t snore, and I don’t have any problem sleeping at night. In fact, I probably went from the worst, loudest snorer in my whole family, to the least, if at all. 9) My waist dropped from a tight 46 to a tight 36. My shirt size went from an XXXL to an XL. I can now go to any store, and am still flummoxed when I select clothes, that I pick it from the MIDDLE of the range of sizes, rather than searching for ANYTHING that might be big enough for me. It also means I can now buy a pair of walking shorts at costco for $15 rather than paying $65 for an inferior quality pair at the big and tall store. I can go swimming with my kids now and be seen with my shirt off, and not feel embarrassed. 10) My friends and co-workers tell me that I have never looked better. Old friends know that I look better now than I did 25 years ago. <O:p</O:p Most of all, I look forward to what I hope will be a longer, healthier life, that I can share with my family. And it just keeps getting better. <O:p</O:p My thanks to Doctor Layton Alldrege at the Sandy Medical Center</ST1:p, and to Vivienne Sullivan, his fill nurse, and the rest of his team. He has the most amazing practice, staff, and follow-through. I am thankful that I was fortunate enough to have chosen him and to receive his care.

My Collarbone just popped out at me as I was changing cloths, and throwing bac k this long hair. Then POP ! There it was... That was like a NSV from my Body to Me... I'll take it !:party::party::party: -
I went to sleep last night at 195 lbs. This morning, I wake up, I drink a protein shake, and the scale is at 190!! Same spot on the floor, it's a digital scale so I make sure to zero it every time. But still... this scale!! This evening I'll probably come in at 200! I've been trying to weigh myself less and enjoy the NSVs but... damn. Anyone else see HUGE fluctuations in weight overnight?

Before surgery, I would sweat like a pig a the drop of a hat. People would often ask me if I was feeling OK. I was always fighting the thermostat wars with my wife. Now, at 7 weeks post op, the only time I sweat is when I go to the gym and even then, not nearly as heavy as pre-op. This is a NSV you can look forward to.

6 weeks post op weight loss
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Cindy757's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Cindy, Watch the trend. A few ounces per week is okay as long as the general trend is down. Watch ALSO for the non-scale victories. e.g. I lost only 400g (13.5 ounces) this week (Week 10) but, THANKS TO TWO HOURS EXERCISE PER DAY, my waist fell from 142cm to 138cm. (56 inches to 54 inches.) I also had to move my car seat another notch closer to the steering wheel. My body fat dropped 1.3%. Non-scale victories (NSVs) are the positive changes that do NOT show on the scales. WELCOME THEM! -
The things you will buy because they are on clearance...
Terry Poperszky commented on Terry Poperszky's blog entry in Terry Poperszky's Blog
The real NSV for me is this as I was trying on clothes and asking my wife's opinion, a couple of times she asked me if I was sucking my gut in, and I kept saying no. I finally had to suck it in to show her, and her eyes got really wide -
NSV ~ No longer a PLUS size!!!
carolann0117 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went shopping today.... I'm officially OUT of the PLUS size department!!!! Yahoooooooooooooooooo!!! I'm doing the happy dance!!! I didn't buy too much ~ just a couple of tops. I still have a long way to go, so I don't want to invest too much in clothes right now. But... it feels good to have a couple of new, nice things to wear to work!! -
WELL, I was going to post my NSV's too. Your post was so inspiring. I am 60 years old and had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I lost 132#'s in 6 months. I am 5.4 and I got down to 117#'s, but I felt like HELL my Surgeon and my PCP got worried because they thought I was losing muscle. So I did end up gaining 8#'s. You would be amazed at how much better I felt after just those 8#'s. So now I weigh 125 and have maintained this weight for 2 and 1/2 years. So now amoung many NSV's let me say I was on insulin with pills to try to correct my Diabetes. I was so insulin resistant that my PCP wanted to throw up his arms and give up. I took 12 different meds, now I take 4 no Diabetes meds at all and 1/2 of my blood pressure medications. I just can't get around stress. ( BTW if someone knows how please let me know) I am now able to exercise. I do have health issues still FIBROMYALGIA and ARTHRITIS. But I NOW can walk 4 to 5 times a week and 4 to 5 miles each time. AWESOME STUFF!! But one of my favorite NSV's was when my 9 and 11 year old grandkids came and set with me in my recliner and FIT with ROOM TO SPARE!!! So Precious!! There are so many others but I will stop now. LIFE is so much sweeter now!!

I've given up the straw at work! Huge NSV for me as I work in a steammmmmy kitchen & we always have drinks nearby. I switched to a coffee lid instead of lid/straw. At home it's not an issue, but restaurants....well, I guess I won't be eating out much post-op anyway. 347*294/285/135 (*347HW/294SSW)

10 weeks~!!! congratulations on your weight loss! You deserve the credit for your hard work and you definitely deserve the compliments. I agree with the above posts. It will take time for your mind to catch up to see your physical appearance. Comments and compliments on your weight loss are going to continue until your in maintenance mode. The new attention can be a bit unnerving. Try giving them comment or compliment a scale (1) appropriate - acknowledge the NSV. Smile and say thank you. (2) Hilarious - Enjoy the laughter (Please post any funny things that people say to you) (3) Inappropriate - (a) Creepy (B) People intended it to be a compliment but, It comes out as an insult (c) a straight up insult. - Smile say have a nice day and walk away ( In your head say kiss my ***) Never waste your energy on negative people. Surround yourself with the supportive people that have your back in life.
