I love this idea. And you could even (with some creativity) add non-fitness oriented NSVs too, like a shopping bag for having to replace your wardrobe, and a plane for not having to wear a seatbelt extender, etc. So fun, and congrats on your accomplishments!

NSV is non scale victory. Something changes due to your weight loss. Crossing your legs, sitting in a chair and your hips don't rub the sides. Things like that. PB is productive burp. When you eat too big a bit, don't chew enough and/or eat too fast you salivate and spit up similar to a baby spitting up. Those are the 2 used a lot. Congrats on your surgery and good luck. -
Guys, I had a nice NSV the past week or so. I have been wearing my favorite cologne for a while now but all of the sudden women are stopping and saying omg you smell so good, five separate times this week alone. Don't remember that 60 lbs ago. May be my body chemistry is changing with the weight loss. I am seven weeks out. I'll take it.

Hey Ali...A personal trainer!! That gym sounds great..I wish they had one like that in my neck of the woods..I do belong to a women only gym. But, I am too embarrassed to go!! I went quite a bit last year and then regained all that I lost (another WW attempt). I know the owner and most of the employees and am embarrassed about my failure..I need to get over it and go back..I am still paying!! Even though I don't really have any restriction at this point. I am eating less for sure. I am grateful that I haven't reagained any of the 18lbs I lost while on the liquid phase...But, I haven't loss any more in over a month either... My next fill is this Wed...I know people can need even 3+ fills to hit their "sweet spot." I am still hoping that I will feel something this time!! WTG on just one bean burrito!! That is a HUGE NSV!!!! Skinny hugs to you!! Erika P.S. Where are the rest of the April's Fools Avengers???

Oh, yeah!! What an amazing NSV! To look good and be pleased about how you look in clothes.

I posted this on my monthly support site, but thought I'd share it with all. Here's a comparison of my favorite shirt now and my favorite shirt pre-band. (4 months and 60 pounds!)

I agree with OTR.... I think it's you Chad2Rad... That's a great NSV. I think it's just a clever way way for women to come on to you or show that she interested. Believe me... if she wasnt... you wouldn't get that kind of attention. Congrats on the weight loss!!!

My NSV is being able to do an hour on the elliptical without stopping. Ive been doing this over a week now almost everyday at the gym! #2 Went shopping b/c everything is big on me now. I Was a size 20. Grabbed a pair of pants in a 14 but took a 16 too just in case. Tried on the 16 first and it was loose so needed the 14!!!

I had my first NSV when I was able to put my wedding rings back on. I hadn't been able to wear them for close to two years. I was looking in my jewelry box and saw them. Thought what the heck and tried them on. THEY FIT!! I was so excited.

I had four NSVs just this past week... 1) I had to buy a ring guard for my wedding ring. 2) A person whom I haven't seen since the end of last summer did not recognize me. 3) I was asked to be a model in a fashion show at the local mall representing CJ Banks. 4) I found a pair of really nice pants on the clearance rack (75% off) which I thought would be a size too small, but would give me some incentive. I went home and tried them on. Not only did they fit, but I had room to spare! I only get weighed when I go for my fill or some other doctor appt. so I have no idea what the scale is doing. I have found NSVs to be more rewarding (ie. loose rings, baggy clothing, comments from others, etc.).

My latest NSV was a funny surprise. I went to put on some shorts after work the other day. It had been several weeks since I had put on this particular pair of shorts. I knew they would be big, but I was just going to be home so I figured it didn't matter. I put them on and buttoned them up. I took two steps and they literally fell right off:w00t::smile:. My wife looked at me laughing and said " I guess those go onto the don't fit pile now". The pile of don't fit clothes is much larger than the do fit pile now.

I was sleeved April 20 and was able to get back into the pool in mid-May. I initially wore the bathing suit I had left over from the end of last season. My birthday was in June so I ordered two suits for my birthday. One a size lower than last year's, and the second a size lower than that. Today, I finally tried on the second suit and it fit! For someone who started as such a high weight as I did there is a lot of room between bathing suit sizes so I consider this a big deal! Now, I need to watch the sales and order the next two sizes down do I will be prepared.

Thanks Laura - you too!!! It looks like we both have about the same amount to go. It is very exciting that people are noticing how we look now rather than being the invisible fat person (or unisex!). I am very happily married yet it is nice to be noticed :frown: May we both experience many more NSV's!!! wombat

The last time I went snowboarding I cried for 2 reasons: 1) I was so embarrassed about my lack of ability because of my weight and.... 2) I knew then that I was scheduled for my surgery and would never have to feel that shame again well.............. I went snowboarding with the family yesterday and it was awesome. My kids were saying things like..."you did not even stop once" or " every time I looked back you were right with us". This is one of my biggest NSV's to date. It is so fun to do something as a family and not be the one lagging behind or having to quit early!!! I am so proud of myself and trust me that is not something I say often (maybe not ever)!!!! I could also get up on my board from a sitting position....before I always had to flip over (resembling a beached whale on snow) and get up on my knees first, but now I can get up the normal way. My kids however did not think that was a bid deal because they could always do it and never realized that I couldn't! Oh well...I was proud! Also, last time nothing fit. I had to wear my thin jacket with the bottom of the zipper half way up just to go around my butt...this time same jacket with another jacket underneath and still had plenty of room and a size large snow pants! I did not want to buy the new jacket until next year when I am at goal!!!! Thanks for listening....can you hear the excitement????

I just had a HUGE NSV last night! A family picture! Actually my first one ever really, and I am sad to say my kids are 9 & 8.

Tyler as a obese male 46 yrs of age I couldn't care less who knows and who doesn't. I have had serious health issues for the past year that required three hospitalizations. At my highest I weighed 451lbs last April. I made the decision to have the Lap Band surgery last August for my family and me. I have had nothing but support from family, friends and co-workers. In the last year I have two co-workers and a personal friend that has begun the Lap band journey since I had my surgery. I have also given some info out to about 6 others who ask me about Lap Band surgery. It is a personal preference to tell people or not. You do what is best for you and your family and try not to worry what others may think. I have heard so many negative comments about my size my whole life that if some one wants to say something stupid now, more power to them. I don't care what they think. My kids tell all their friends that they won't be able to call me Big Unc for much longer. They are so proud of me and that's what matters to me. I would like to share one more thing before I go. I had a NSV yesterday that wasn't planned. As I was walking past my Daughter she hugged me and said "Pop, I can finally get my arms completely around you for the first time in my life". I had never really thought about it but she was right. I can't explain how great I felt at that exact moment in time. Life is Great!

Ok time to revive the NSV thread. On Monday my supervisor told me I was looking particulary thiner, I gave my low self esteem beating and made some comment. Didn't think much about it then today one of my co-workers said I lookd good today. Then while walking through the building I ran into someone I hadn't seen for awhile and she commented that we hadn't ran into each other and that she was seeing "Less" of me...... But wait there's more...at lunch someone who used to work next to my group walked by and commented on how much thinner I was looking.

That is a good NSV congratulations.

NSV to report, yay!! I went to exchange dress pants that I bought months ago they were way too big when I tried them on this weekend. I was already excited about them being so baggy. Imagine how THRILLED I was when I found that I needed two sizes smaller!! I was so happy.

i have had several nsv's since i got banded on 4/22 - i inherited my grandmother's diamond dinner ring and i couldn't barely get it on my pinky (she had tiny fingers) and now it fits not only on the ring finger, it fits on the ring finger of my right hand which is my dominant hand and bigger than my left. i also put on a pair of jeans today that used to not go over my thighs and they are baggy. i have lost 62 pounds since my surgery, 4 clothing sizes, 2 bra sizes, a ring size and 2 shoe sizes. i got taken off my blood pressure and other meds and am feeling really amazing! katie

Now my "skinny" clothes that I bought a couple of months ago to get me through are now too big. Down to a 36" pants and XL shirt( but they are fair from a tight fit). My other NSV was a realization while in the shower the other day. I have a tube shower that I have always hated because it felt so small. As I was taking a shower, I realized that the shower felt alot bigger than the last time I thought about it(before the surgery). It was just one of those silly little things that make you smile and proud.

Sometimes its the unexpected things that get you
WLSResources/ClothingExch replied to Stevehud's topic in The Lounge
Yes, sometimes it is the more subtle changes that are most eye-opening. This NSV is the figurative and literal measure of how far you've come. L'chaim.
