  1. I've been heavy alllllllll my life. Only time I recall being average weight was about age 3! And that is only because i've seen it in pictures!

  2. Thanks Rebecca, I think you get spoiled with how much weight is lost in the beginning it is hard to slow down or come to a halt until you start dropping again. I get another fill on Friday, God willing, hope to be under 200 before year end...God Bless, M-

  3. Hello, I was banded on Aug. 19th. I have absolutely no regrets, but, I am not losing as quickly as I think I should be. So far it's only about 12 lbs. I know it's better than gaining, but I feel like I am doing things the wrong way. Any suggestions would be great.

  4. hi i am 31yr old from uk having my band done on 31st oct 2010 current bmi is 32 want to lose 4 stones hopefully in 6 months as im getting married in 2011 and want to order my dress !!! im really scared more of not suceeding than of the operation would lve some support or a buddy !!!

does having a lowish starting bmi mean i wont lose as much weight ?

  5. Im wanting to know who did your surgery? I'm in Idaho and Im still looking for a doc. Your tummy dosnt look like you are very heavy. I thought you had you be over weight by at least 100 lbs. Im not over 100 lbs but Im close to it. You dont look like you are.

  6. Hi there, thanks for the compliment. I actually wrote a blog thats on my page about my diet/workout routine. I've since slowed down the working out, but my weight loss has slowed as well, so I really believe strongly the key to success is working out (it also helps some with the saggy skin). Please check out my blog and let me know if you have any other questions.

  7. I remember when I decided banding was the route I wanted to take. The clinic I chose was booking for July 2008, this was in May of 2008, and I had to wait until November. I thought the wait was going to kill me, haha! It really is beneficial though, gives you so much time to read and prepare and get as much weight off as you can. I had lost 45lbs pre-op and still had issues with my liver. Fortunately though the surgery went a-ok. Now I'm amazed it has been two years! It seems to take forever to get there and then the time flies once you're banded! I guess that's part of the band-lifestyle though - you lose weight, get more active and start really living!

Thanks copa, glad you are doing well and sorry you're having the pain in your neck . . I have not heard of that, but I do know that we relaly get banged around during surgery. Hope it clears up soon. When do you see your surgeon so you could ask about it? My weight loss has been good . .I'm at 50 pounds - wow amazing. I'm going for a 2nd fill this Friday. Thanks for keeping in touch! Rose

  9. Hi Eileen,I think your 39 pounds is fantastic. The fact that your weight is consistently going down is great. I'm not sure there is a "should" have as far as how much we each should lose. I really had not calculated it, but since you asked, I sat down and charted it out . I'm in week #14 & have lost 50 # including pre-op (10 #). My losses are a bit lower recently compared to August. I'm 183 at my morning weigh in. I still weigh every day - bad I know, and I'm not going to the gym, but I walk at least a mile every day. I have no complaints. I realize my loss is probably above average and I'm glad for that - I just don't want that to be discouraging for anyone else. I wish I could get to a gym like you do, I know that has to be firming up areas that need it . . I have pretty bad bat wings and my belly just doesn't want to go down as much as I would like. . ..ah well . .. in time! Thanks for keeping in touch! Rose

  10. Thanks for responding to my blog. I am at the gym 3-4 times a week. I write my weight down on a log every Sunday. I look at 10lbs intervals only because if I had to look at the "LARGE" picture, I think I would get too discouraged. We think alike :). Keep up the good work.

  11. This is my tracker for my weight loss. As you can see I love XMAS.. My favorite time of the year...

  12. Hey Rose, how are you doing? So tell me, how are things since your fill? Do you feel restricted? How is your weight loss going? I hope all is great with you.

  13. Hello Everyone, I have not been on for a while. I am doing pretty good I just want the weight loss to speed up. I hope you all are well.

  14. Well I finally went to a closer doc for a fill (1.5 hour drive instead of 4-5 hours). I just always put off going and I guess I'm lucky I never gained. Anyway she gave me 1.7ccs! Now I'm kind of gurgling on the liquids so we'll see.You have really done great because this new doc said my 5ccs in there (10cc band) was like not having a band! I did have some restriction in the morning but at night was a free-for-all! Anyway I will keep you posted how this goes, I am always glad to hear from you or read your blog!!!

  15. I actually lost 8 lbs during my 6 months and gained it all back. I am on my 4th day of preop and lost 4 lbs in 48 hours. It isn't easy but I think its getting a little easier.

  16. hi there! i got my band on aug 31st! my doc told me i could start to eat on my follow up, which was on sept 7th! but im going to start the post op diet so that i can lose weight faster! :) good luck and keep up the good work!

  17. I have simular issue with being under 35 BMI and gaining every month , I am in Melbourne can I get any tips or doctors name as to how to get in befoer 35 BMI

  18. I have a 10cc band also. I went for a fill on last week on the 7th and it's my first time feeling some real restriction. It's been so frustrating for me because I am only at 5.5 cc's and my sister that weighs 240 pounds is at 6.4 cc's and it would seem the bigger you are the more you would need but now I see that's not true. Now, I am getting full at 1/2 to 3/4 cups a food and before it was at 1 or more cups. Now, that I have this fill I am starting to lose weight again.

  19. I'm down 16lb and counting. Life is great, I have a wonderful family that is supporting me. I am able to go get the kids pizza every Friday with out feeling tempted to eat it, I went to the movies with hubby and didn't feel tempted for popcorn or nachos, I can cook my much loved dinners that every loves with out feeling I have to nibble or taste. And it's only been a week. I can't wait to start hard work outs like running and boxing. (lol) 216 is my exact weight right now. I'll update every Thursday. Love ya'll keep up the good work.

  21. Hi Marig . . how are things going? I hope your weight loss is continuing and you are doing well!

  22. We should keep in touch and support each other. I just got insurance approval today! Hopefully have surgery the end of this month or beginning of Oct. I actually gained weight during my 6 month diet..too much pressure. Looks like you will have surgery before me!

  23. Today makes 2 months that I have been banded. I have only lost 20 lbs. I had 1 fill. I have not lost anything in a month but not have gained any either. You think I will loss anymore weight??? I sure do hope so.

  24. We are close to the same size, I am 24 lbs bigger than you, I am older too, 61. I didn't do very well with my 6 mos weight class. up and down, mostly up. I hope to have my surgery within the next 3 weeks, waiting for the final word.

  25. No fill yet. I am scheduled, again, for next week but depending on what happens this week...I have past on the last 3 fills. I lost 5 lbs last week, but only 8/10s of a lb this week. But, I've been losing consistently 3-4 lbs a week since my surgery on 6/21. Prior to surger I was up to 268lbs. On surgery date, I was 151.4 and am now 223. I weigh in and chart my losses on Sunday. If I don't have a descent loss this week, it might mean I need my first fill. I haven't been hungry and I don't think I am eating any more than I have been. I'm at the gym 3-4 times a week. I do cardio2 times a week and combine cardio and weight training 2 days a week. I find I really love the gym.

I am anxious to lose enough to get out of the 220. We'll see how it goes.

You are doing remarkably well. Keep up the good work. Are you exercising? Are you getting protein from your food or are you doing shakes? I am so happy for you and I know you will hit the ONEderland very soon.
