  1. I am 10 weeks post op and have only lost 20lbs. It’s so slow and I have been fighting cravings every day for the last six weeks. I started exercising, built muscle and the hunger set in. Today I caved, had some sugar free candies and a slice of medium ham/pineapple pizza (no crust) and a half cup of Fairlife chocolate milk. I ended with 77 carbs!! Normally I try to keep it below 40. I’m sitting here and I feel like there’s this little disordered eating voice in my body laughing at me like “muahaha! Today we regain control of you! It’s only a matter of time before we stop this train and back it up!” I can literally sense my body storing fat. Okay not literally… but it feels that way. im about to hit my first big milestone once I go under 180 and I wonder if I’m self sabotaging? Do I really think I deserve this? What if I’m one of the statistics that doesn’t lose their weight? Ugh I’m so scared that I’m going to mess this up. Please tell me I’m not alone? Does anyone ever feel this way? 😢

    Gamers?

I met my hubby on World of Warcraft back in 2005. We have three kids together now and still game. All of our kids are gamers too. We stopped playing WoW shortly after Battle for Azeroth. I switched to Heroes of the Storm (MOBA) and played competitively until 2020. I personally enjoy MOBAs, MMORPGs, turn-based strategy games like CIV 5, world builders and tower defense. Currently playing Arknights and beta testing a newer PC game called Palia. Glad to see there are other game lovers here too:)
  3. I am four weeks out today. Had VSG 4/28. I’ve lost 19 pounds, but the majority of that was in the first week (15 lbs). I am very discouraged right now. Feel like I spent all of this money and am sacrificing food and not seeing a weight loss.

    Any April Surgery Dates?

VSG 4/28. I’ve only lost 19 pounds in the past four weeks. Most lost in the first week post-op. HW: 292 SW:284 CW:265 GW: 180

    Any April Surgery Dates?

I'm assuming you meant chia seeds. I have a few bags in my freezer that I'm contemplating using again post-surgery. Asked my NUT if it was OK at 5 weeks and she approved. When I asked her if they should be used dry or soaked she said dry. By the look on her face, I think she was guessing. LOL The only time I used them dry was when I had bad acid reflux. The dry seeds would soak up the excess acid in my stomach for almost instant relief. But you have to be careful as these will soak up to 10 times their amount of weight in liquid. It actually caused a death when someone downed a bunch dry without drinking enough water to fully swallow them all and the seeds expanded in their throat. Yikes!! Indian runners used them back in the day to run long distances, having to carry very little water. But dry in pouches. Hmmm... Many many articles online listing its benefits. Alot don't say whether to consume dry or soaked. Just 2T a day. That would definitely skew measurements. I'm wondering, will this help us in our quest to stay hydrated longer? If taken dry, will the expansion stretch our new small stomach or pull much needed moisture from us? What say you?

    Happy with your dietician?

Then, would follow what your surgeon said. The normal requirements are liquid for 2 weeks, puree for 2 week, and then soft foods for 2 weeks. High protein, low carb, low-fat, and low sugar. Does that sound about right for you?
  7. Lost 3 pounds this week. I'll take it!!!

  8. But I want to believe that my facial/neck skin will snap back as if I was just like a teenage girl.... hahaaha! Nah... I'm a realist. And glad to hear that the needling is working for you. I still haven't heard back from my Bariatric team on the safety of using the infrared sauna or the RLT at 7 weeks. 🤔

    Happy with your dietician?

I have had no support. Got banded Jan of 22. Since then I have only met with my dietitian once and that was upon request. I’m so confused as to what to eat. I just had revision surgery last week. I had a port leak. And now I’m trying to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing. That’s why I just got this app. Any advice?
  10. My bad habit im working on is stress/anxiety eating. Now im having to find new ways to deal with the stress instead. Luckily, im learning the difference between hunger and anxiety/stress. Im only 11 weeks out, and can say im shopping my closet- but I can see the end of the clothes i have that fit coming soon- then i will have to shop. That can certainly be expensive as I will have to replace almost everything- (undergarments even!) so trying to hold off until that is necessary. One new habit im working on is getting dressed “nicely” for the day- even putting on jewelry for casual outfit is something I had given up. I can wear rings and necklaces again! What a joy!

    Surgery day

Glad you are home and everything is well. It will take a while for your body to settle down after surgery. Don’t feel bad if you miss your targets in the first weeks, just try to maintain a schedule as best you can and listen to your body. Get lots of rest and take it slow. You got this!

First, congratulations on your surgery. That's exciting. I'm at 3.5 weeks and the fatigue feels like it's getting worse. I'm trying to get more calories in, but I'm still averaging around 400 calories per day; even being on puree. My team wants be closer to 500 and I'm struggling to get there, despite trying. I have noticed that I'm having more apnea events (I have sleep apnea), so I wonder if that doesn't have something to do with it.

Howdy all, just found this forum. Had my Bypass on 5/15, so a little over a week out. I see some complaints about being tired, I was pretty tired my first week, couldn't make it through the day without a 2hr nap. On day 8, I didn't take a nap and have been feeling pretty good since then. Before my surgery, my doctor said that very low energy was VERY common and effected people differently. He did say that after 3-4 weeks, pretty much all of his patients felt good and were back to normal/better energy levels. So I hope you guys start getting some energy back soon!

    Travel after surgery

A little late to the game, but I just had my Bypass on 5/15/2023. I am flying to Italy for a 2 week trip on 6/28, so around 6.5 weeks total from surgery to trip. I discussed it with my doctor and he had no reservations about the timing, I think he would have been comfortable up to about 5 weeks out. According to my food plan, I will be on soft foods by then, and fish/salmon is one of the best "starter" meats, so I plan on having a lot of seafood while over there. I do plan on taking a healthy stash of 1-off protein powder mixes to dump into a bottle of water if I need to supplement. I would recommend requesting a hotel room with a mini-fridge and putting some yogurt/cottage cheese/protein drinks/etc in there so that you aren't constantly trying to figure out meals.
  18. Just wondering what other RNY => TORe patients' Post Op diet transition was like. I did clears for 4 days then started full liquids 2 weeks then I'll do soft/mushies for 2 weeks. I'm seeing other folks extending their soft foods to 3 weeks so I'm wondering if doing that may help overall. I suppose it couldn't hurt, right?

That's exciting. Congrats. I'm down 32 lbs since the start of the pre op diet and an thrilled. I've stalled though, so waiting for that to break.

Yes I'm sleeping so much Lindsay. And I feel pretty weak. I still have nausea every day. My post op appt was today and I just couldn't go so thankfully we did it by phone. He's ordered blood work for me as my nausea at this stage is abnormal and wants to see if somethings going on. He's also sent me scripts for 2 new meds. He says my fatigue is due in part to rapid weight loss. I've lost 11kgs or 24.2pds in 2 weeks which he was surprised to hear. I'm to to stop my vitamins for 2 weeks to see if that helps. The nausea was so bad this morning I threw up. I'm really thirsty which is good as drinking then doesn't feel like a chore. My 18yo asked me this morning if this was expected to be feeling like I am? Heck no lol. I anticipated a lot but not 2 weeks of nausea and to be repulsed by many foods.
  21. ♥️ Congratulations you guys - June is almost upon us. I’m one full week of pre-op liquid today and 10lbs down. 7 days and counting for bypass on 1st June - it’s a challenge at times but I’m hanging in there for the 1st June xx
  22. Speaking of terrible and embarrassing, I just got a notification a few minutes ago that some of the clothes and shoes I ordered earlier this week have been delivered to my apartment this afternoon. Second parcel on the ways haha. Buying clothes online is so much easier when you are average / normal size (but no good on my pocket haha). I need to uninstall those apps (I tell myself that every time haha). I'm working in a remote site and I've not been to the head office since March 2022. Everyone was shocked to see me and they all kept asking how I did it. I even got follow-up calls. Most of the people were worried that I got diabetes or seriously ill. I just went with the healthy diet and exercise story.
  23. Great list @omrhsn. I really relate to #1. You should see my credit card bills 😱. I always loved clothes & fashions & had a large selection but now. Clothes, shoes & bags oh my. I’ve filled wardrobes in three bedrooms & have many things I’ve worn once or am yet to wear. Quite terrible & a little embarrassing really. #4 - I’m still selective as to whom I tell. If I don’t want them to know I usually say I saw a dietician & changed how, what & why I eat. All true. Though I did tell the doctor who shaved some moles (Nevis) off my neck today. We were talking about knee length boots so #1 again. 😆😆😆

Although it’s been miserable and eating is still a chore and everything tastes gross… I’m been cleared for Soft foods and my doctor is thrilled with my current results. Down 39 lbs currently which he said is way ahead of schedule! This is with a 2 week pre op liver shrinking diet and now exactly 3 weeks post op tomorrow. Starting weight was 357. 318 this morning. That’s pretty exciting!
