Wow thank you! Such nice words i appreciate it. A lot. Trust your surgeon. I was fortunate that insurance wasnt an issue and covered the revision. Quickly.

Truly happy for you and the speedy recovery!! I felt your denial and pain of going through a second surgery in your posts and I'm glad you were awesomely rewarded by a quick recovery. Full disclosure: TBH, I keep going back and forth between the sleeve and the bypass as it's a very difficult decision to make. I'm deathly afraid of GERD and sincerely your need to revise got me hopping to my surgeon's office. She continues to insist that the sleeve is still a great fit for me so I'll trust her judgement. I'll say that how you handled everything has been a class act[emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122] and dare I say, if the worst happens with my journey, I hope I handle it like you[emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji108][emoji108] But let this thread continue, it's a joyous thread that I look forward to daily......okay, hourly[emoji1][emoji1][emoji1] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I did not even know it was possible until someone told me about their procedure. This person had a revision and lost 50 pounds. I consulted with her surgeon, wondering what he could do to help me with gastric reflux and making my stomach pouch smaller. He explained the choices and then made a recommendation. Really, I would not have thought of it on my own, but now I am excited. My RNY did help me loose 100 pounds, 19 years ago and I kept 80 or so off, so it was successful. I just want to go further and he will see if there is something he can do with the reflux.

I will be at the hospital for vsg to rny revision in less than 14 hours!
  5. I am just wondering what made you realize that you needed a revision to your roux-n-y surgery and what did that revision entail?

    ❤My Revision Story❤

I am as usual late to the thread. So glad that you are healing and up moving about! Thank you for a few laughs as my freezer is full of Popsicles that are all mine... recovering from some nasty complications following plastics which has had me on the popsicle pity party for the last six weeks. Also it is excellent that people are beginning to speak of revisions and some of the long-term decisions post WLS. Yes I initially gained 15 pounds after surgery and I’m down to eight lbs but am still draining....
  7. Hi I was just revised a week ago and i have the same amount of lapro port sites, and hospital stay was the same length. But obviously the specifics of the two surgeries are very different, even more so because your anatomy is already altered. Recovery, for me, has been much smoother so far because i had realistic expectations about pain management and took care of that immediately. I would say it seems be similar to the intial surgery for recovery, But GERD appears to be gone so far. However IDK about weightloss aspect unfortunately Good Luck 💜
  8. We have met our deductibles for the year as well. I wasn't planning on getting surgery but when they told me I could fix my issues with a revision I am all for it. The waiting is impossible! Good luck to you!!
  9. It was 5 years ago today 7/22 that I was sleeved. Like many others- GERD, hiatal hernia & a 30lb regain has me going back for a second chance. I gotta admit, rearranging my guys has me a little nervous. Not sure what to expect as far as recovery the first couple day or how long they will end up keeping me in the hospital. For those who have gone through the same thing- Is it similar to sleeve? Any advice & words of wisdom are greatly appreciated!
  10. 7 days post revision... I am wiped out! I forgot about the energy depletion stage

Logically I know there is some fat left for use... But not much

  11. I’m surprised that you are revising to the mini bypass if you have severe gerd, one of the potential side effects is severe bile reflux. Generally RNY is regarded as the best option for patients with GERD

    July surgery buddy

Hi Everyone, How did everyone's surgery go? I am scheduled for my revision surgery (from sleeve to GB) on July 25th. I deal with GERD and also have a hernia that will be repaired. I am excited and nervous all the same time. But i'm on a new journey in life, I've started a new job and this is just another step in my journey. I'm interested in hearing how my fellow July surgery buddies are doing. Thank you.

    July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Hi there, I am also on the 31st. I am 5 days into my liver shrinking diet, it was tough on day 3 but the closer it gets to surgery day the easier it will be. I hope all goes well on the 29th and you get approved for the 31st. We will be surgery siblings. I am also having RNY. Can you explain what a Pouch revision is?

    ❤My Revision Story❤

💜💜💜💜 Thanks Everyone 💜💜💜💜 Day 6 post revision: I was going strong with energy, even danced a little in my bedroom yesterday Then the combo of weather and low cals swooped in. I'm exhausted. I don't have a large amount of fat reserve to recruit for energy like prior to VSG so I'm eagerly awaiting full liquids/pureed stage because I have things to do 😆. Otherwise doings ok, taking the meds/vitamins, drinking fluids, cooking foods I can't have for others lol, managing pain & falling asleep mid conversation 😂 Not a terrible first week 💜

    Revision of RNY

Sounds like maybe the surgeon intends to do a duodenal switch or something similar. I attended a WLS seminar and they said that's what the their surgeon usually uses for revision. I have my consult on August 21st but if that's what they suggest I'll go with it.

    Revision of RNY

Hello Valerie - my surgeon did not suggest this but I also do not know how much was bypassed originally so this may not have been needed in my case. I went to a revision specialist so I think had he suggested I may have asked for research (I still did this with my current surgery) and then discuss with the surgeon, my Primary and my family. I am still only a week out but I am so happy . For me, the recovery is so much easier second time around.

    July 2019 - Surgery Schedule

Well, I am July 31 - RNY and Pouch revision or "tune up", as I like to call it. I was worried that I would be too late for the July group, so I was also going to follow with the August group. My pre op appointment is July 29th where the Internist will review my test results before giving the final go-ahead for the 31st. I am doing well on the pre-op diet, and have lost about 10 pounds in the past month total. My tests show a fatty liver so I am really following the protocol closely. So if it is not too late, Please include me. I have met all the requirements for surgery already, in terms of test results so I am pretty sure it will be a go ahead. I really would like to be involved in the post surgery followup, to see how you are all doing!
  19. I am heading there 8/2 for my revision from sleeve to mini-bypass. Was it worth it? I’m starting to second guess my decision.
  20. I’m so nervous for my revision surgery! It’s scheduled in just a couple weeks. If you’ve done this- how much different is the post-op experience? I have terrible GERD, and have had only a small amount of weight loss.
  21. I live 30 miles east of Springfield and am seeing Dr Matt Simpson through Cox. Mine will be a revision of a VBG to a bypass. Good luck!

Vets - How often do you weigh yourself?

I weight every day, first thing after going to the bathroom. I write it down. I'm almost six years post-VSG. Alas, in the past 2 years, I HAVE gained 25 pounds back and I am NOT happy about it. I never wanted to see 200 pounds again, but I am ~ 205. I am also having a very hard time getting back on track. So, advice: stay on track. I'm actually contemplating a revision because I do not want to get too far gone. Ghrelin is back and it is winning, at present. I had 5.5 great, happy years. The VSG was the BEST thing I ever did for myself.

    Post surgery MENUS?

I am still Post Op week 1 in my revision surgery so I wanted to show you some extra support. I think this is great! I know my biggest challenge for me will also be getting in exercise I think I am allergic to it like I am shellfish I need to find the cure to that ASAP! Sending positive vibes and prayers for loads of menus.

    Revision of RNY

I am going, on July 1, for my RNY revision surgery. My surgeon is going to examine the pouch and stoma, and make smaller if possible. What concerns me is that he is also going to increase the amount of intestine that is bypassed. My original RNY, done in 2000, what a short length. I am worried just because I have not read about anyone else having this done. I may just ask him that, if the pouch and stoma just appear stretched..... make that smaller and not do the bypass work. This will be a situation where I will be on my own after surgery. I mean, they are very responsive over phone and with emails, but there is no follow up appointments. My GP will work with me on monitoring my Iron, Calcium etc. Did any of your surgeons suggest this approach?
  25. You are very knowledgeable! This is why I chose the vsg, if needed I can revise, which I prefer not, but we will see what the future holds. My Dr wanted me to do the DS, but I refused, for now.
