Georgia - I'm so glad you received good news! I spoke with a guy in my office that does Marathons. He said the treadmills are the best on impact, but if you are training to run an actual 5K that you need to eventually start running on that type of material. Concrete is the hardest on impact, then asphalt, tracks, grass, and treadmills. I think we'll eventually take the run outside (maybe next month) when it cools off some. They have a running track at the Y and a dirt/pebble (meaning slip an bust my butt) track too. I missed running this morning myself. I want to go so bad this afternoon. I found out why the gain bothered me so much last night/yesterday. PMS. It sucks. I've had horrible cramps all day (maybe TMI?), thus I'm not running today. I'm going to run tomorrow though. I'm looking forward to Monday - Starting Week 3! Thanks everyone for your advice and support with this crazy plateau I'm on. I'm SO tight today and will be so for a few days. Maybe a loss? I think I'm going to get a slight fill next week. I thought about canceling my appointment, but think I need it. That time of month I've found makes me a little tighter. Is everyone like that?

Anyone wear anything to help with the jiggle while running? (Hehe, the word jiggle makes me think of the jello commercials, lol). Okay, back to my post. I have a lot of mid-section jiggle (hehe) and was wondering if there is anything out there, especially for runners, that would help with it. Since I've started running, I've had some rashes under my apron that I usually don't get (sorry if that's TMI). I'm sure it has to do with it rubbing during my runs. Anyone wear anything under clothes that helps with that?

Incision Pain
Incredibleshrinkiningkiley replied to Jnfinney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

pain and walking
Cherylmilla replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! You said a mouthful!!! I just want to be normal. we are hardly "eating" any calories, so we're tired from that. Then add the pain (and TMI, I got my period a few days ago, so through that on there). Thankful I have everyone on here to gripe to, LOL. I know my husband is sympathetic, but he can't fully understand (I'm glad he doesn't have to go through this). -
Anyone having surgery in May
MommaD88 replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to the men! TMI I know. I know what you mean about getting the time of the month. Because my O2 levels kept dropping they didn't want to take the foley cath out. So they expected me to walk with the cath and deal with mother nature all at the same time....embarrassing. Oh well all is good now. -
Anyone having surgery in May
loveslavender replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone, I had my gastric sleeve done on May 7th. I too also cleaned the house good, gave the dog a bath etc. With the Lord watching over me I did great with a few bumps. I bought premier liquid shakes because they were already made and bought them at Costco you can also get the powder form in a HUGE bag for 40.00. I bought sugar free chocolate pudding, Mott's green apple applesauce. Campbell's has an awesome butternut squash soup. I loved Swanson's chicken broth I went to stage 2 a day after surgery because I didn't do well on the 1st phase. I have protein drink for breakfast, instant cream of wheat alternating apple sauce, pudding and soup for lunch and dinner I'm lucky to do 2 1/4 tsp. I use the pudding to take meds it slides down easier. The one thing I miss the most is drinking as much fluid as you want at one time. For further down the road has anyone tried making ice cream out of protein shakes. This might be a TMI but baby wipes for cleaning your bum is a blessing. Get the flushable ones. God Bless Kelly -
OMG Whats that smell?!?!?!
renee replied to w106fox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI alert!!! I prepared my husband for the smells before I had surgery and I'm a month post-op now. Incredibly, my poop never smells. I'm totally serious. I mean it smells a little, of course, but its nothing. I don't get it. Before surgery it was way grosser than it is now. I wonder why? -
Nausea and vomiting after 1 month VSG post op
xogipsy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Guys, I have a question ? So I am exactly one month post op and lately everything I get and drink makes me nauseous and sometimes or most times causes some vomiting. I am on the mushy/purée stage right now and I'm ALWAYS hungry. I am eating anywhere between 3-4 ounces of food. I am satisfied for a little bit but then I get super hungry again. I am almost afraid to eat cause I'm scared to vomit or feel nauseous. My question is did anybody else experience this. If so how long does it last and how can I prevent it ? I don't have an appointment with my surgeon for another week so I'm desperate for some help ! Lol also I know this may be TMI but my vomit is like a clear salvia with little chunks/pieces of food . Thrush?!? Ughhh
thisisit replied to Jessiegurl2686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soooo I just went to brush my teeth before i went to bed.... And I'm pretty sure I have thrush! I brushed my tounge for 10 min and its still thick and white ... Siiiick anyone eles had this happen post op!!! Hi Jessica and YES, YES, I do have thrush. I am 5 weeks post op and was diagnosed at my 2 week follows-up. Excepting that, I had been very fortunate with no other complications or complaints. So, dr put me on Fluconazole. Within hours after starting that I went into a 9 day HORRIBLE time with explosive diarrhea (sorry, TMI). The drs office didn't associate my diarrhea with the fluconazole but instead blamed it on the fact that I was just starting puréed foods AND had had c-diff with a previous surgery. I was then put on a RX for Flagyl (to treat c-diff). Finally after testing clear for c-diff, I still continued taking the Flagyl and Culturelle as well as finished up the RX for thrush. Finally after 9 horrible days of the diarrhea it cleared up and I was able to go back to work last week. Then just yesterday I went back to surgeon for 5 week check up. I STILL have the thrush. So, this time they put me on the fluconazole and also a liquid oral treatment called nystatin. So took my first pill and mouth rinse last night and OMG, the horrible diarrhea is back again. I obviously now think this is from that RX. called my drs office this am and nurse told me to stop taking the rx and I'm waiting to hear further instructions from them. I want to get rid of this thrush, BUT, not with this diarrhea again. And, my initial tongue symptoms wee same as yours. I would make them check it, but, I sure hope you have better reaction to the treatment. Yuck! Good luck and let me know what you find out. ???? -
Post-op Day 2: Today's Entertainment Brought To You By The Letter G
meloney posted a blog entry in A Year of Possibilities
So, today I am feeling a bit weird. Weak. Stoned (as one of my bandster friends said). Or like I just took some antihistamines. I think this is because I did not eat nearly enough yesterday. Not just protein, but anything. I wasn't hungry. I'm not hungry today, but I'm making myself eat. Frozen fruit pop, stock with protein added, jello. The doctor even said I can do yogurt at this point but, as I'm not a huge fan I would prefer not. I also did not get enough water in yesterday, so I'm having to remind myself to drink, drink, drink. Which leads me to the letter G. G stands for Gas. Yes, gas. I have gas. On surgery day, the gas was really noticeable. It made me feel like someone punched me in my gut (another G). As the days progress, the gas gets less, but it is still there nonetheless. Thus, I make a point of getting up and moving frequently. This results in some rather significant belches, followed by my utterance of another G: "That was glorious." I'm not saying this to anyone in particular, as I live alone. I'm not even saying it to my cat, who is very sad that she cannot climb up on my belly for cuddles. I simply say it because each large belch really is glorious. The not so glorious end of the gas is the farting. When I feel a fart come along, I must extricate myself from my bed and go to the bathroom because, more often than not and my apologies for the TMI, the fart is accompanied by diarrhea. Granted, this could be worse. My bathroom is only a few steps from my bed and the diarrhea is not of the sort that results in an RBA (raw, burning a**hole). So, as it is right now, I am accepting of the farting. Yet another end of the gas is the third G for today's installment: Gurgling. When I walk, I gurgle. When I lay, I gurgle. And when I drink, I gurgle even more. I have a veritable symphony of gurgling going on in my gullet. I should start laying some notes down on staff, that's how musical my insides have become. I am like Pooh Bear. There is a rumbly in my tumbly. Tomorrow, I am hoping for less gas and more feeling like myself. But for today, I will continue my Will & Grace marathon and enjoy the cacophony of sounds emanating from my abdomen. -
I had one on day 3 funnily enough they give me this little cup of what looked like white glue I asked what it was they said a laxative I said oh I went 2 hours ago, they told me to still drink it, it was gross. I wasn’t too bad for a while not every day or anything then second week in july worst experience everrrrrrrrrr! I won’t TMI you on the details but get some prune juice! I have been experimenting with it, how I am if I drink half a glass daily how I am if I don’t drink it how I am if I do every 2 or 3 days. Before you go the enema route try prune juice and get a packet of glycerine suppositories it could be as simple as the prune juice maybe a little more in the suppositories and if it comes to it then use the enema kit. I kicked off big time over my issue about the gp being crap and telling me to take things I am not allowed etc so I was told I can take the following f it happened again: Lactulose but if your lactose intolerant you may not want this (which I am) Movicol Psyllium Husks Thankfully I have never been at that stage again and my prune juice does the trick if I am a few days without. Hope that was some help!

Hello! I just had surgery on Wednesday Nov. 17th and let me tell you... I was not quite ready for the amount of care that I need! I would suggest that you find a place to stay with family that can be available when you need help sitting up and getting out of bed to use the restroom or keeping you on schedule with meds and fluids. I haven't been able to bend over so if my undies fall down, I need my hubby to help me out. When I first got home, I couldn't even sit down without assistance because it hurt so bad! Now, I can sit up on my own, sit on the toilet by myself and even wipe pretty well (still can't bend enough in the middle to wipe well if I have had a BM). I know.. TMI.. but I kinda of wish I would have known that it would be this hard! I am lucky that my husband has been here. I called my sister Saturday night and she came to "babysit" me and I made my husband go out with friends. I have a hard time accepting help from others and even after 3 kids- this is the first time my husband has had to wipe up anything because of me! Walking is painful and as much as I hate it, I try to do more and more each day so that hopefully I can get back to being me quicker! I hope I am not scaring you.. I am so happy about the surgery. Moving at first is most painful. I have not had anything but fluids for a week now and I am actually in good spirits and feel good. No hunger although my stomache rumbles all the time (pretty sure it is gas!). I really believe that this is the very best option for me and will allow me to have a much better life! I just have to give up a little dignity for a bit! I am going to give you my list of things I never thought I would have to ask my family for help with... but do. To wipe me after I peed. To wipe me after I had a BM. To clean up the dribbles off the toilet when the only way I could wipe was to stand up. To help me dry off each and every roll and between my legs when I got out of the shower. To put down a towel when I didn't sit far enough back on the toilet and ended up peeing on the floor. To change my undies because of the left over pee that I didn't get off. To empty my drain and strip the tubing so no blood clots would be there. To ask my hubby to put a pad in my underwear because my cycle is off. To have to pee at 3a and need to wake up my hubby to help me sit up and then stand. To change the gauze on my drain hole. To help me ensure my meds are on time and that I have plenty of protein options and fulids near me at all time. Again, I am very lucky and my husband is very supportive. It sounds like your family is behind you on this so you will want to figure out now where you can be for that first week that you are out of the hospital so that you can rest and stretch and walk and drink without having to over do it. Sorry if this is to much info.. just want to make sure that you aren't surprised later on! Best wishes!

Essentially the best means to relieve constipation is to get more fiber in your diet through whatever means you can. Food, your protein drinks fortified with fiber, fiber supplements and yes things like benefiber and etc added to your food. However if your bowel movements are normal but you just have a hard time with them, like its very hard to push them out (yes I known TMI) the a stool softener may be appropriate. Also make sure you get plenty of water in your system if that is the case.

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
SunshineInMars replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m so happy to hear this! I’ll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and I’m DRAINED! I’m tired ALL the time... I can sleep for hours. I was starting to feel a kind of way thinking how long will this continue? Especially during the time of the month... I could’ve slept for 24 hours (sorry fellas for the TMI lol) -
8 days post op. This is TMI but I managed to poop today for the first time after surgery! I am so relieved. It was firm but it wasn't hard to pass. I don't even know how I managed to do so when all I've been having is broth, herbal tea, fat free greek yogurt, and water. I am not hydrating as well as I should though, I think I get in 30-35 oz of water a day. My doctor recommended 65 oz at least. I am hoping other liquids count.

I was sleeved on the 3rd. Today was a good day. I got all my fluids and protein in. I'm not having any pain. Sometimes when I swallow, it feels like some gurgling going on down there. I ate some creamy tomato soup ( about 4 bites). I was very nauseous first two days, but fine since Saturday. TMI: I pooped today too! Happy day! What about you?

Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!
Jrob805 replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 2/18, so far so good. Gas pains are starting to go away, just had my first BM (sorry for TMI), and I'm down 11 pounds since Monday. I'm ecstatic that everything has been so good so far, I've only taken 2 Percocet since I left the hospital and that was the first day. I'm walking my dog about 5 mins 3 times a day and I feel great. I'm only getting around 40-50 ounces of liquid in a day though. That's the one thing I need to work on. -

This is kind of a TMI one, but hey, I'm sure we're all in the same boat to some extent! Just wanted to ask - has anyone been experiencing aversions to foods/types of foods you were formally addicted to (for me it was sweets, especially chocolate or ice cream)? I am now constantly jonesing for salty stuff, and things that are crunchy - crispy crunchy not wet crunchy like a carrot! hahaha I can't get enough salt - to the point that I have been so desperate at times that I have shaken a few small chunks of sea salt out of the grinder and sucked on them one at a time. Love the parmesan cheese chips you can make, because they totally satisfy both the salty and crunchy craving, and it only takes 2 or 3 then I've had enough. I'm still experiencing dumping, but not as intensely or as quickly as I had been in the first few months. The first 6 weeks or so, if I had anything too sugary or fatty, it would either send me into an immediate hot flush with extremely smelly and explosive diarhea and I'd be on the toilet for ages, or it would send me into an immediate dead-cold sweat with lightheaded dizziness and I'd have to go lie down (absolutely had to be horizontal) for at least 20 minutes in pitch black (or something over my head to make it so) before I could recover and then I'd have to hit the toilet for a loooooong time. Now, I don't have those episodes so much, but I will feel very yuck, just very very unwell, semi-nauseous, and needing the toilet quite badly. I actually don't mind the dumping because in some ways it's very handy - makes me stop and think before I eat something, consider what the reaction might be and when........because I don't want to be without access to a loo if it's #2, and I don't want to use someones and then stink it all out! Nothing more embarassing than everyone knowing you were the one that made that oh-so-important room repulsive to use. hahaha Also, my hair.....or my lack of hair. Good Lord it started falling out about 3 months ago and it hasn't let up since. At times it seems like the fall out has slowed down, but then I will take a shower or brush my hair and look at that...another toupe in the drain or a tumbleweed in the brush. My ponytail is so thing now that I use toddler size ponytail holders and my fringe is so thin it constantly looks greasy no matter how clean it is. I get plenty of protein and I take my vitamins and supps religiously........I'm thinking it might be the Metformin I still take. It can have hair loss as a side effect. I'm going to see my doc about cutting the dose in half now. Aside from the hair loss I have no complaints, and I don't regret my decision to sleeve for a second, even when I'm pulling a huge glob of hair out of the drain! I figure it will grow back eventually, and if it doesn't, oh well. It's not the end of the world. Makes wearing a wig easier....not as much hair to put under the cap. hahaha -
I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
linzlou2000 replied to Trisha213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was schedule to be outpatient. I went back around 7:15 and was home by 3. Today, 24 hours out---I've gotten 32 oz of liquids in and 30 grams of protein. Still sipping. I took a small nap this morning. I just got out of the shower and settled again. Thought I would take a nap, but I don't feel tired. I'm still dealing with trapped gas. It is all in my upper chest/shoulders. I thought it was gone, but I was wrong. I also have a pain with one of my incisions. It's like my stomach is so heavy, it's pulling it down (TMI). Stupid, hanging down stomach! Overall, things are okay. -

Ok now that I'm not in so much pain I was sleeved on the 20th and had a HUGE hernia repair. I had extreme pain when I woke up. My BUTTON was my BEST FRIEND. I was so sad when they took it away I was up and walking the night of surgery...that wasn't bad. Nausea from the anesthesia was my enemy. It made me dry heave until the doc gave me medication to stop it. I got put on a liquid diet on post op day#2 and I was sent home that same day. I was 316 on the day of surgery, 321 on day#2 post op, and this morning day#4post op I was 314! Pain is minimal but sorta constant on my left side. And it kinda feels like I'm sucking my tummy in when I'm not. Only pain med I take maybe twice a day is liquid extra strength Tylenol (only 5ml) I drink all my liquids 2oz at a time....so far the protein shake goes down the smoothest. I have trouble with water...it tends to hurt when it gets to the opening of the stomach. And my TMI moments.....I started passing gas AND my first BM on day#3 post op -
Telly - TMI! 5/6/06 B: Water L: 5 oz Wild sockeye salmon, 1/4 sweet potato - 320 calories(?), 22g protein D: Buca di Beppo's Chicken parmigiana & creamy chicken & pasta dish, 1/4 of a piece of garlic bread Dessert!: 1 WHOLE caramel apple drizzled with chocolate & snickers bits and a caramel-, white chocolate-dipped pretzel (which I PB'd on). Has anyone have moments where they just gag!
crickee replied to blkdiamond377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better, I was sleeved November 20, and there were some days that I didn't think I could tolerate another Protein shake (I still use them to supplement). There is no way I can get 80-100 grams of protein in a day without them. This may be TMI, but I had problems with gagging while I was having a bowel movement for about 4 weeks, it was very strange and scary. This was the closest to "slimming" I have done, and it was awful. Eeeewwwwwww!
