Hey Diva. I feeling good, thanks for asking. My incisions are looking good and I can drink all of my fluids and and get my protein in. Really the only problem I see is and maybe this is TMI, but my bowels movement are not what they are suppose to be. I've been on mushies since my second week and I'm almost 5 weeks now. I am just not regular, so I might have to call my surgeon for advice.
How are you doing?

Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
Lisalu replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm glad I found this thread. My foamies just began last week. It definitely seems to come from eating too much/too fast. I am 3 months out, and eating too much affects me more now than at 8 weeks. I have to be really careful and slow with solid Protein. Yesterday I ate too much twice! I was so annoyed with myself. TMI WARNING: I had to make myself throw up to get rid of some pressure. It was not pleasant. I hope I learn soon. -
My post op info stated by week 5 I could return to sexual activity if I felt up to it. I broke that guideline and week three resumed some activity taking it very slowly. I didn't worry about having an "O" that first week because i was afraid how all the tightening up would feel on my tummy. This week (week 4) things are back to normal, I am not going crazy mind you but things feel normal. I did however leave my tummy covered, those incisions just are not so hot lol. sorry for the tmi

I haven't seen this addressed, but maybe I've overlooked it. Ever since my surgery last week, I've noticed an odor. Let me be specific, and sorry if it's TMI, but when I sit down on the toilet, there is a smell wafting from me that I've never smelled before. I'm showering and cleaning all parts of me, so it's not from poor hygiene. Did anyone else experience this?

Despondent over apparent gain, please help
Globetrotter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everybody, update!: I upped my fat, included some cheese. I also knew from lower right abdominal pain that I was probably a bit constipated. Took some miralax, got things moving, and when I weighed myself I was minus the "gain". I then took my shoes off and "lost" another pound and a quarter!! Who knew that keen hiking sandals weighed so much!! I don't know if it is because of my nearly all-meat diet or if I am the only one but, does anyone else have issues with regularity and um, dryness of bm's? If I don't use a laxative, I don't go. Well, I can go, but without help it is just once a week and really painful. Anyhoo, TMI I know!! But thanks for the encouragement everyone and if you come up with any higher fat foods I could eat that are still good for me, let me know!:scared0: -
Hey Ya'll Plain - yes that was creepy... LOL just kidding OK - I fess - I have several tattoo's as well, 7 trips but locations, I'm going through withdrawl and feel like I need to either add on to one or get my wrist done, and working in construction that should be ok, but since I work for family I am counted on to represent the company so i'm not sure about that yet. I want to add more stars around my neck and a guardian angel, and I want to finish my foot too. and I've recently removed body jewelery, not all of them, but the one i did for the x is all gone  I know tmi sorry, but I'm turning into a grown up, for those who know me well, that is a big deal well, my redbull shot is wearing off, i better go to bed, I have to get up and shower in 4 hours I'm so glad I'm off tomorrow night, I have my first EMT test Monday, and have to finish my online class by Monday night at the latest, I'm shooting for Sat so I can study for Monday night's test, I take lots of notes to retain. night all

Karla - My meat is oscar meyer sandwich - brown sugar deli ham - not actual deli meat -but that would work too - 6 slices is like 50 cal - cheese 45 - so really you could have 2 servings - I'm good w/one most days. Can't say I stay full till lunch - I get hungry around 10:30 - 11 - and I try to drink then.. I do ok on workout days w/my water I take a 20 oz and I will have it gone by the end of the hour - but that's 1/3 of our water - but I do have at least 2 - 10 oz coffee and then 8-16 oz of juice at nite and 12 oz of ice tea in the afternoons (need the caffiene to keep going).. But some days (non exercise days) all I get is my coffee and a little juice- then I have 2 problems tight and tmi ;0) -

Denise: Ouch on the 'graft' spot and take it easy on salty stuff. Then again, didn't they used to rub salt into the sailors backs after whipping them raw (as a way of healing?)? I know...TMI and no help <bg> Dottie: LOL on the babies in diapers analogy but I'm one of those who'd rather wait until one was out before dealing with another <g> Well I went to my first (and last) Tae Kwan Do class tonight. It's just a little more confrontational than I want. I think I need to find a Tai Chi class. ;-p -
YES! This happened exactly to me. The incision that I had an infection in sealed up and the active infection was gone but there was a big hard knot under it and I thought well I guess my body will just absorb the junk. Then suddenly last Friday I was in the tub and I looked down and it was sort of poofy. I left it alone then I got out of bath and got dressed. Suddenly I remembered it and I was walking into the bathroom to grab a cotton swab to use to poke it with and when I put pressure on it WHAM it nastily exploded up into my eye ( I was sort of bent over looking at it). I know, I know TMI. I washed my eyes out and it continued to ooze a healthy amount for a bit. The hard lump of junk under it is gone and it scabbed over now and is back to healing up.

Good morning! Ok, I need to vent some fears I have now that I'm less than a week away from my surgery. It's not that I'm scared of the surgery-- I'm scared I won't get to have it as scheduled! I've been sick for a full two weeks as of tomorrow, and finishing up a 10-day run of antibiotics today. Problem is, I'm still having to take tons of medicine because I don't think the antibiotics have killed my infection (sinus)-- helped tremendously, but I still have throat and ear pain if I don't take ibuprofen or tylenol every 6 hours. I worry a LOT about what my liver must look like after two weeks of round-the-clock cold medicine, pain medicine, antibiotics, and prescription antihistamines and there is no way to know until Wednesday, when I go in for all of my pre-op work in anticipation of surgery Friday. And then there's the TMI-- since I started the antibiotics, etc., I have had nothing but the big D happening in the bathroom. You should hear my stomach gurgling through the day (or not). This just seems like a bad way to be before I even get the band. I guess the worst thing that could happen is that I have to put off the surgery for a few weeks. It would be disappointing, but not the end of the world. it's just hard, now that it is so close after SOOO long, to think it might not happen. The good news is that for the past two days I've weighed in at 261, which means I am officially down 32 pounds from my high weight of 293 a year ago, and 15 pounds down since I started my unofficial pre-op diet August 10th. I'm praying that I'll be in the 250s before my surgery, something I haven't seen on the scale in probably 6 years if not more. -
Good Evening Gang Well had gym this morning - I am not going to be able to walk by Monday... Then went and took car in to get new tires (so we have a safe trip Phyl) walked over to AT&T to get new battery for my phone as it doesn't hold a charge for more than a day - day and half. Oh tried these riding boots on at Target - loved them - so came home showered went to Macy's they had $10 free cash - but the boots at Target were just as cute and only $39 instead of $100+ so went back to Target got the boots - some food home - ate some popcorn and took a little nap.. Having bbq ck for dinner w/sweet potato.. Was so tight last night I couldn't eat my dinner - had a bowl of sf ice cream instead - was concerned that I wasn't getting my nutrition - so while at Target got some pure pt shakes - funny how now I think about nutrition where as before never did - I think working out with trainer & weights helps - I know I need pt & complex carbs to exercise and build muscle.. Eva - WTG on the shopping - I know you aren't much of a clothes shopper ;0) - Nite are the worse for me and stress at work will kick in the want to eat - the lady next to me had chocolate at her desk she's gone on vacation - sso I ate 2 and then took the candy to my bosses office (he's the one who's the chocoalich) so no more temptation.. Linda - Glad Katie is doing better and going to take responsibility for her healthy (prayer & good ju ju as laurak says) Make sure Alayha dad signs legal papers giving up parental rights or by law she goes to him - I had a gf who died her DD went to her dad (she did know him) but she should have stayed w/her aunts who had helped raise her.. Can't wait to hear about the show - I would love to be picked.. Julie - At least you are going back and hopefully they will have results from some of the test you took - Take it easy girl - rest.. Joyce - I'm watching it (hoarders) well did last weekend - use to watch the bbc verision - have you ever seen that one - the 2 english ladies - that was a cute one. But I don't think they had therapy in that one.. Charlene - Yep TMI w/our mirrors :0) Eva - I wish I could have a swamp they are nice to have - had one at xdh house we used it most of the time.. WTG on your walking - Yep our weather is cooling off.. I'm w/you back in the day if I had walked for any length of time - I would be whipped and would do nothing but rest - now I can go go go - have a little rest and keep on ticking just like a timex ;0) I've laid in the sun a bit wasn't a super sun worshiper and as a toddler went to the beach every summer - pre sun block days and have had many burns - and for a while in the mid 90's did the tanning booths - and have had some pre-cancerous stuff removed - need to go get checked - since I can't see my back - but they did the ultraviolet test on my skins and it shows layers and layers of damage.. Now I use the self tanners and don't mess w/the sun ;0) Charlene - WTG on 2 walks today !!! Jessica - Hugs on Jake - testing will be good - you will have some answers - Just stay out of the drama - yep grownups are full of it too.. Gwen - Sounds like you are doing great !!!! I ate at buffetts for lunch & bf normally - dinner was always the dinning room How in the heck did they find skin cancer under his toe nail ???? Well gang need to go bbq my ck and feed the doggies - cbl..

I spent this week thinking "wth did I do to myself?" I have been in pain, from incisions, gas, throat, and back. When one cleared up a little, the others hit with a vengence. BUT... Tuesday was surgery, and today is Saturday. I am better, can move better with just a little soreness, and not crying at every step or turn. This might be TMI, but try to get the gas out the back end. You shouldn't be able to burp yet, and it needs to get out to make you feel better.

Janet, my restriction is probably perfect...it's my choices. I know it's part of my addiction and the reason I'm here. One thing I must say, if it wasn't for the band, I'd have gained everything back by now and more. I need to wrap my mind about my choices and the days I do, I'm fine....it's those days I let stress or any other excuse rule, then I get in trouble. So I'm getting that most of us are noise sensitive. I am too. The smoke alarms are very annoying and I cringe when they go off. All then noise is one of the things about Vegas I don't care for. I can only handle it for a little while. Our trip will be the perfect length!! Cheri, sugar-free candies and other things are are often sweetened with sorbitol. Sorbitol can cause gas in some people. It does for me and for another friend of mine. She can't tolerate any sorbitol. It's one of the reasons I don't eat sugar free stuff often. I take Fiber Choice chewables and that causes gas too, but it's weird, that gas works it's way out easily...every time too. Sorry if that is TMI. So sorry about your DD's hair cut and the stress it is causing. Maybe she could try another place to try and fix it? Cute story about the naughty GS and being naughty...yep sometimes that is more fun. Charlene, your grand baby is adorable! She does look like she's smiling and happy to be here. Thanks for the synopsis on the anti aging face stuff. I like nutrogena moisturizer with sunscreen stuff. It helps keep the blemishes at a minimum (I don't break out with it). You'd think at 54 you wouldn't have to worry about blemishes. Good for you and your walk. Welcome back Gwen. 1/2 pound a week is still progress. Lap band is not bypass and it does work slower. Have patience and be committed and it will come off. I got up to let the dog out and now I'm reading LBT. Good thing it is Saturday morning and I don't HAVE anything to do in the morning. Took my Jeep in yesterday and had new tires put on. Walked back and forth to the shop (through the mall) and ended up buying two pairs of pants, a skirt, and a blouse. Since most of you are bargain hunters, one pair of pants was $52 regular and I got them for $26. These are black cargo pants that roll up. I've been looking for a pair of black pants, but don't care for the knit ones, so these look ok, if a little casual. The other pair are capris and were $8. The skirt was marked down from $59 to $14 and the blouse was $7. I'm good with that. So now I'm ready to drive to Vegas and have some new duds too. I'm trying to control my shopping because I want to shop in Argentina. I want some leather goods. Okay, I'm going back to sleep. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Eva

I just need to vent today. Today I am on my third day of the liquid diet, and I feel like SHIT! I haven't really had the hungar pains, a few here and there, but it isn't really that bad, definitely not unbearable. But what I have been having are a lot of pain in my stomach from the protein shakes, I think I may be a bit Whey Intolerant, not fully allergic or severely intolerant, but I think I might be slightly. SPOIL ALERT - THIS SECTION CONAINS TMI: It is giving me diarrhea, indigestion, heart burn, and I constantly feel like I need to throw up. Is this normal? I don't know, but it's extremely uncomfortable. Lastly about the shakes, they are giving me dragons breath. I cannot STAND the taste in my mouth, and it's not like the after taste that's bad, it's after I have drank it all down, and then this mist is coming back, and I feel like a dragon! OOH I hope it passes soon! :bored: On top of the terrible stomach pains, I have a migrane. I RARELY get migranes, maybe two a year, and of course, when I am only allowed to have tylenol, I get one. The tylenol helps for about 5 minutes, then the pain comes right back, and I am not going to take a tylenol every 5 minutes because that's dangerous. The lights at work are killing me also, I am ready to go get my sunglasses on! But this has been going on for two days and it is making me really cranky. So hopefully I can get this under control. Ice Mask...HERE I COME!:smile2: Well, that's my gripes, I know that this won't be forever, but I just needed to vent my complaints. Only several more weeks to go until I can have mushy foods! Yay! I am already looking forward to it!

I'm also on day 3! I'm doing a liquid/low cal combo diet for this first week, and then it's strictly Protein shakes next week. So far its been really easy because I spend all day sipping my shakes and looking forward to my chicken breast & veggies at night. I expect next week to be much harder. What're ya'll drinkin? I've tried a few powders but so far they all seem to leave me with a gurgling upset stomach and (TMI) diarrhea. Anyone else having this problem? I'm thinking maybe it's because I've been mixing my powders with soy milk to cut calories and my body's having a weird reaction. Not a fan! I have lost 4 lbs. already though so I'm definitely a fan of that

Ditto what Judy said: Just don't get skinnier than us! Pam, I had that same thought re: the pb'ing & eating something cool/soothing, so I slowly ate a sugar-free cherry popsicle... THAT's what I pb'd into the ziploc in the car... which doesn't look good when you pb red liquid into a clear baggie, btw! I know, TMI! Lots of work to do today... everyone make it a good one!

LOL Cindy-----I too am a PB pumpkin addict. Shall we start a 12 step for it? Hi, my name is Kat and I am a PB pumpkin addict, I have been clean for 5 months......but the demons are back! LOL This is not meant to make fun of those who depend on a 12 step program! Got the 2nd truck unloaded, but there is an entire side yard full of HUGE wood waiting to be split, and Rick is sick. So, it is going to sit there for awhile. He has a massive sinus infection, poor guy. He tried to come out and help, but he can be standing there, and it is (sorry if this is gross and TMI) like someone turns on a faucet, and water---not thick, just water poors out his nose. Wierdest thing I ever saw! So I have been having like multiple personality things with all the cars outside! Normally my car is in the drive, the van and truck on the street---or we leave the truck at the farm. Well we had the little trailer behind the van with the wood splitter on it. So I had to back my car out of the drive, park it across the street, then back the van in the drive to unload the splitter. Then drive it around the block, because I don't back trailers well (!--putting it MILDLY), then park it in front of the house, then back the truck in the drive to unload the wood, unloaded it, then back the truck up, park it in front of the neighbors, because the trailer is taking up its spot, and then move my car back in the drive!!! I had a handfull of keys, and a plan!!! Got it all done too!!! Trey, see you lurking there......ya better be posting same time I am, or I am gonna report you for being a peeping Tom!!! LOL Better find a better window than mine, would not want to hurt your poor young eyes!!! Will be back in awhile, need to finish dinner.

Hi Nellie. Glad to hear you're doing well, my September First Sistah! I tacked this week onto the long weekend to recover. I'm doing well, but still taking the pain meds once or twice a day. How did the new routine at work go for you? Yes, it may be TMI, but I had my first BM this am and, although difficult, I was happy about it, too. Itchy incisions are part of the healing process. It helps to keep telling myself that..lol. Congrats on your 20lb loss! Take care everyone! cece -
I ate some chicken pesto the night before and onion strings, but felt fine after that, but slept most of the evening after dinner because I couldn't physically stay awake. That morning, I didn't have anything but a few sips of Water. I had that pain where I couldn't breathe and the only thing that relieved it was to get sick. It was in my sternum where it meets my abdomen. I literally thought I was going to die. I've never had something that terrible. I'm not kidding. The EMTs met the plane when we landed and took me straight to the hospital. I thought I was going to pass out and was sweating. (Sorry for the TMI) I'm waiting for my band surgeon's office to call me back about a scan now.

Oh my...i just had to take a phenegran for nausea. It is gonna knock me out, but that is OK....as long as this feeling goes away. I already had it from the other end (tmi) so I REALLY do not want to puke too!! Pray for me! Shar....you must be contagious.

Aunt Flow is gone from her monthly visit (tmi I know) and time to REALLY put effort forth again to lose some weight. I just basically hold my own during the monthly visit and actually lose weight the other 3 weeks. So...lets see if I can add (or is it subtract) to the -11. Cindy-that battle of the ice cream moster is an every day thing over here. So we have none in the house (for now) and keeping it out of here is the struggle. Hope you won the war last night! Suzanne-thanks for sharing the pics! Kat-now that drink sounds GOOD. So, unless we want a replay of Gruene, I'd better not try. LOL I thought that too about my accent for Debbies voice thing. Leave it to YOU to actually say it! lol I am not the one with the accent...ya'll are! Have a great day everyone!

August Rush in bandland!
jenontheband replied to AmberK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been on for a week or so. I'm trying to catch up. First, I'm jealous of all that weight loss out there. Yes, I'm down 20 pounds but some of you have an extra 10 on me and you got banded after me! Good for you! I had a fill on Friday. Let me tell you, it is something. The doc gave me 4.5 cc's in my band. It was TIGHT. Of course, I didn't know that till I went home. Only shakes for two days but of course being the rule breaker that I apparently am, I ate the next day. I could NOT sleep. I felt like I had a baseball in my chest all night. I had a ton of gas and diarrhea too. TMI I know. Anyways, things have settled down but I can see how you can lean to the liquids when you are tight because you don't want to go through that feeling. I will see how I am in a couple of days when I am eating more solids before I go for an unfill. I really don't want to do that if I don't have to but I won't go through another night like I had two nights ago! -
Joyce, I think it's cool that you went to Bali to study after reading Eat Pray Love...what I wanted to do is go to Italy and eat. I actually took a class in Italian, but then work got so busy, I didn't pursue it. Now I'm going to Argentina with my Italy money. I did enjoy reading the book, haven't seen the movie yet. Linda, hugs and prayers to you and your family. It's amazing how stupid some people can be and how bad their choices are. They seem to think they can use and abuse those closest to them and it's their due, like we owe them something. I'm sorry you have had to deal with it. I'm sorry your step son treats you this way. We know you aren't the bad person, just the person that wants him to take responsibility for himself. (Man I sound like the preacher). Laura, glad your parents are able to visit you. Just having them get out of their normal routine is a good thing. Hope you can relax enough to enjoy this time with them. Janet, have a wonderful time at your concert. Good luck with those shoes too. I know I'd never wear them...but then again, I don't look as cute as you do. Jodi, sounds like a good decision not going to Fire Island and congrats on the commercial. That is too cool. I'd love to see it, so if it's out there somewhere, let us know. Your daughter is very lucky to have you as a mom. You know a 6:45am wake up sounds like heaven to me. My alarm goes off at 5:15am and I am NOT a morning person. Julie, you are smart to have some one lined up to do the cake and other stuff for DD's wedding. It's much better than panicking at the last minute. DF's ex will have to be really bad for her to lose custody of her daughter. We tried some of that with Robbie's Mom. It does say something about Mimi's dad and good riddance to him. DD and DF do need to keep a log of every time they have a problem with Bailey's mom. I certainly won't hurt. Your appointment is coming up soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Charlene, your heart is as big as Texas isn't it? My sister adopted our second cousins too but not because the parents were drug abusers. Their mom is epileptic and she couldn't take care of them. These families get pretty complicated but I'm glad there are loving people like you and Linda around to share their love and homes. Lori, I'm so glad you asked the boys and waxing question because I'm not sure what they are getting waxed either. I can't even get DH to trim the hair out of his ears (sorry if that is TMI). You know your kids are still young and full of themselves because they are young. I'm not sure they would understand your hurt at them leaving early. Just know they love you and will see you often. I believe I was insensitive that way too when I was their age. They will understand more when they have their own kids. Oh and it's 18 more working days. Cheri, I agree with you about our youth feeling entitled. I know not every kid is that way, but there sure are a lot of them out there. I'm sure working where you do you get to see the whole gamut of behaviors from good to bad. You have a lot more patience than I would and I applaud you. I couldn't get on line last night again, but today everything is working fine. Yesterday, DH and I just loafed all day. I did do laundry and fixed a couple of meals, but that's about it. Today I got up and walked again 4.2 miles. It took me an hour and a half, but I don't care so much for the speed right now, I'm looking for the stamina. I still want to be up to 6 miles by the end of the month, but we'll see how that goes. Hope everyone is having a lovely Labor Day weekend and I'll be checking back later. Eva

Glad to hear you are doing so well. You sound great. I just always drank even when I was not thirsty. The liquids in, liquids out has not been a problem for me, expect once which was on day 3 of being home. My husband said, it's probably more from what went into my IV than me drinking and he was right because it was only a 1 time thing. I am drinking a protein shake for breakfast and dinner and drinking soup (1 can) split into 2 servings. Other than that, it's tea. Here goes the TMI: After the diarrhea on Sunday, I have been having normal stools (very very very very tiny) but they are there, just like before the surgery. What I save in TP on #2's I use now on #1's. I was told that I could take Imodium AD if needed. I know it comes in a chewable tablet and I think even liquid. Cathy
