    Tummy Tuck 8/21

I have a FDL and it's healing really well. I also had a ton of skin above my navel and a regular TT wouldn't have taken care of it at all. I'm actually having it revised in my next surgery to take more/extend it a little higher as I still have loose skin there even with the first FDL. I can't easily post pics from my work computer, but I can later if that would be helpful. As far as needing help, I think after a couple days you should really be okay especially without any muscle repair. Just take it very easy.
  2. I had gastric bypass in 2004 didn’t make it to my goal but was pretty close and I was happy I maintained 150/160lbs for years even through a second pregnancy but in the last 3 years my mother almost died and I gained 100lbs. July 2 2019 I had a revision I had the lap band over gastric bypass. With the first 2 weeks I lost 17lbs and only 3 pounds since then. I feel like it’s coming off too slow. I have graduated to soft foods but feel like I’m eating too much so I put myself back on only clear liquids and protein drinks. I go for my first band tightening on Aug. 9th hopefully weight will come off more after that. Are there many people who have had the lap band over the gastric bypass?
  3. Go back to your surgeon and ask them to test THOROUGHLY then submit it under revision for DOCUMENTED GERD (medically necessary) Good Luck 💜

    💩Poop (or lack there of)

Recent revision here 😍 I was told that colace and miralax will help for daily relief but to contact the Team if its been longer than 3 days with no bowel movement. Contact yours to find out what you can have for this acute situation since its been so long. Good Luck 💜

    July surgery buddy

I’m scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday, July 30th, revision from VSG to RNY, due to GERD and not losing enough weight with the sleeve. Sleeve was done on March 2018, I had a smooth recovery with the first surgery, hoping the same will happen this time and to feel like a human being again, acid reflux is not a joke. Wishing everybody on this journey the best wishes and results.
  6. I am 6 days out from sleeve to rny revision & still have not pooped. I am finally passing gas, but I do not feel any urge to have a bowel movement. I have been taking Dulcolax stool softener a couple times a day, but still nothing. Was wondering if MOM or Mirilax is the way to go? I am also having a sharp pain under by left breast/rib cage. Hurts to take a deep breath. Anyone else experience this?

  8. Hi Everyone, I just had revision surgery on Thursday, July 25th for the same symptoms, GERD, hiatal hernia. Stayed in the hospital 2 nights and my biggest discomfort was the soreness in my throat from the throat tube during surgery. OMG i couldn't talk or swallow, so drinking water or soup broth was very painful. It's been 2 days and the pain has subsided significantly, so i'm finally getting my fluids in. I feel blessed and can't wait to see the results of the weight loss. Good luck and God bless you during this part of your journey.

    Lap band revision

Hello All! I'm glad to see that there are a few of us having this conversation. I just remet with the surgeon yesterday to discuss a lap-band revision. And I'm experiencing the same insurance issues that DeeTee mentioned. I've had my band for almost 11 years (hard to believe). Basically, my surgeon is treating me like a new patient for surgical purposes. I have to show six months of weight loss supervision, go through a bunch of tests, see the psychologist, talk to the dietician, and so on, and so on. Last time I basically started in July had had the surgery in September. I talked to the surgeon about switching to either the sleeve or the bypass. His recommendation, since I don't have diabetes, was to go with the sleeve. I'd done the research ahead of time and had come to this decision, but it was nice to at least hear the surgeon supporting my basic decision. Like Banded in AZ, I also have experienced esophageal problems, specifically esophageal dilation. Honestly, I didn't know that was even a complication. Admittedly, I had been a bad bander and hadn't had an adjustment in quite some time. The surgeon actually gave me an adjustment yesterday, which was weird, and he took out quite a bit of liquid. Apparently, food was just sitting in my esophagus and slowing getting squeezed through the band for years. I'm also the first to admit that I feel like some kind of band failure. It's like one of the docs in the practice always says, they don't have a lap-band for your brain. I learned how to eat around the band so quickly. Combine that with most of my favorite foods seem to be mushy to begin with, and it just set me up for band problems. Part of me still thinks I should give the lap-band a chance, but then it's been 11 years. My surgeons don't even perform that many lap-bands anymore because of how bad the outcomes research is now. As for those of you who have made the switch, has weight loss been "easier" with the sleeve? I'm primarily worried about long-term weight loss, stretching, and GERD. What are people's experiences? Jason
  10. I’m 5 days post-op revision surgery from VGS (7/2015) to a Gastric Bypass after gaining 27 pounds on 7/23. Never posted on BP but am going to try to reach out more this time around. I had a hiatal hernia fixed during my 2015 sleeve surgery and it came back; so I also had hernia surgery 7/23 as well. I am on my feet and feeling far better this time around than when I got my VGS...yay! But I’m also feeling far hungrier :(
  11. Hello LeeAnn, I had my lapband removed May 3rd and it was the easiest surgery ever. I had it removed on a Friday and I was at work on Sunday without any pain or discomfort. I didn't need any pain pills after discharge from hospital.....I may have used Ibuprofen once on day of discharge. It was a 45 mins procedure from being wheeled into the OR to the recovery room and I was home by 1pm. I only had to by "nothing by mouth" for 8hrs prior to surgery. No special diet after the removal and I have been happy and free from the band since then!!! My Sleeve surgery is scheduled for August 16th and I can't wait!! The insurance approval for removal and revision took such a short time that even the surgeon was shocked! I chose to see the dietitian and psychologist voluntarily while I wait so I can be sure I get help with preparation! Good luck to us all![emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. My experience is similar to yours. I had my lap band put in six years ago. Did great for three years then hit a plateau. The photo of me here is at my lowest weight after having lost 98 pounds with my band. I never could get the two pounds I needed for 100 pounds off ...and I wanted to lose around 25 - 20 more. Over time I started gaining weight and having problems with food getting stuck, reflux, etc. Doc took some fluid out of my band. Still had bloating and abdominal pain. This has been going on for more than six months. After having a barium swallow, 2 endoscopies, a CAT scan, MRI, and colonoscopy we have pretty much determined that there is nothing else wrong so the band is most likely the culprit. I will be having surgery to remove it on Wed, July 31. Hopefully that will end the abdominal pain and I will be able to have revision to another weight loss surgery in a couple of months. I am still down 40 pounds from where I started which means I gained back 58 that I need to lose again and still want to lose that additional 15 - 20 pounds to get to my goal. I wish we could do it all in one surgery but my doc wants to make sure the removal of the band solves the problems I've been having instead of doing additional surgery now only to find that the pain issues are still there. I'm 99% sure the problem is the band so I'm researching other surgical options now while I wait. ****For those of you who have had their bands removed , did you have internal soreness from the surgery or just the soreness from the incisions ? Did you have to follow any special diet while healing from the removal of the lap band ?

Lunch Meeting 1 week Post Op

yes, all the patients (revision or traditional RNY or even gastric sleeve) are discharged on stage 2 diets (soft mushy). Prior to leaving the hospital, we all received tuna salad. This stage for us also includes soft white fish.

It sounds like you're on the right track with finding a new good doctor that you like and can trust. A revision might be the answer. Check the forums here and many people have had them and have had success with that. Hang in there.

What phase are you in your diet ? (1 week post revision, right?) Did your team speed up your diet progress?

    Weight Gain

So I am 5 years 4 months post op and I got down to my goal weight and then about 2 years ago I started getting my cravings back and started giving into them and started putting the weight back on, I have since gained about 55 lbs back and I am very discouraged, and feel awful. I had a great surgeon that did my surgery, and since my surgery he has left and moved across the country and I trusted him and felt good with him, so after he left I started seeing another doctor in the practice he was in and do not like him, don't feel comfortable with him and so since about a year after my surgery I haven't been back? He didn't seem interested in knowing how I was doing or my progress so I didn't go back, and just kept doing it on my own, but now I am this far and gained weight and I am not happy with myself and I am back to where I was prior to surgery, except I can't eat as much, and as many things. I have made steps in seeing another doctor that a friend of mine referred me to, she goes to this other doctor and she loves her, and so I am going to meet with her and see how I feel. I am nervous that I have stretched out my stomach and I don't know what they can do for that? I am so disappointed in myself, cause I did so good for 3 years and kept it off, and I felt so good, and now these past 2 have just been down hill? Does anyone know if you stretch out your pouch do they do or will they do a revision? Also does that help with the cravings?

    New and anxious

Yes, everything happens the way its supposed to. So, no worries about delay in my program. Yes, I will be able to choose and hopefully my surgeon will be available during the time I'm ready for all of this. I went to visit my friend after her revision yesterday in the hospital and this is very real for me. She has Kaiser too, I'm anxious and nervous.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

5 months post-op today and down 72 pounds. It feels a lot better and I'm having more energy. I'm having trouble with my stomach. I can't really explain it, but is lower and possibly a burning feeling. It comes and goes and only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. My 6 month follow up is in exactly 4 weeks and I will speak to my PA. We discussed it before and she said she would do a scope if it continued. So, I will be asking to do the scope. I take protonix daily, although I have missed it a few times. I sure hope it stops and won't have to do a revision. My Dr wanted me to do the DS, but I said no. However, I guess I might consider if this continues. I still have to lose 84 pounds to get to goal, and definitely will need plastic surgery on my arms, stomach and breasts. Hope everyone is in a good place and may we all continue to do well! Love this group!💕🤸‍♀️

Wow that is weird. I had the revision surgery on July 16th. Hopefully you are doing great.

    July surgery buddy

I had a revision on 7/22 from vsg to RNY. My surgeon (not the one who did my sleeve) said I had tons of scar tissue and my operation took almost 4 hours total. For him it looked like I had a small leak that was never caught from my sleeve. Weirdly enough I complained of pain twice in that area and was scoped and everything seemed to look normal.

    Tummy pain

Hey y’all! I am 1 week and 1 day post surgery. It was a lapband to bypass revision and I literally cannot stomach anything but water and some Gatorade zero. My tiny tummy and bowels are still hurting and I feel like I may never be able to consume food again. I know it’s part of the process and feeling bummed or depressed about food is very common but I just want to see if the stomach and bowel pain is common. I have no issues going to the restroom because it is straight liquid. I was back in the hospital Sunday into Monday because I ended up with cellulitis in my left side. Any insight would be appreciated.
  22. Had my revision to RNY yesterday. Surgery went well and they also fixed a pretty large Hiatal hernia. Water is going down fine. I keep sleeping with my mouth open & it is royally drying my mouth out. They gave me an anti nausea patch behind my ear that is working like a charm . The pain is also different from when I had the sleeve. More gas in my chest this time & it feels like I did 8million sit-ups, but I know each day will get better. To all those getting revision- make sure you walk laps around the floor and definitely take the main meds. They work! And make sure you ask for sugar free popsicles ! I assume the Dr is going to make me stay an extra night but not sure. Happy I am finally through it and on the road to no more GERD. Good luck to all who will also be going through this!🍀

Prior to my first surgery almost 2 years ago: ~ 250 lbs Revision 1 week ago: ~ 157
  25. I did have a breast lift, 15 years ago, 5 years after my RNY. 2nd best thing I did after the Bariatric surgery. Girls still look good. Torrid have wonderful stretchy lace bralettes that are not tight but work for providing a little support and they can help you look pretty. They have size 14. I am sure that they have them elsewhere. @Missouri-Lee's Summit It has been 20 years since my RNY. I was working and traveling for work. I, too, had problems with diarrhea. I fasted for 24 hours before a flight because I did not want to have to get up to on the plane, only to be told to sit down. I had a friend lose it and she said it was the worst thing that ever happened to her. Then, I would just worry myself sick over where the bathrooms were where ever I visited. So, I spent a lot of time researching and testing foods. I can not eat any fatty things. Nothing. No ice cream, no soft cheeses, nothing deep fried, no buttery baking. I have to avoid any fatty meat, meat in general. Low fat dairy does not trigger a problem. Trust me, if I know I am going to be home all day, I may have a scoop of ice cream. But I have learned its just not worth it. The other thing I did was pelvic floor exercises. Well, my trainer at the time (a mom of 6), said to do thirty pelvic floor lifts three times a day. Do them while you do the dishes for example. She said, just squeeze your butt muscles like you are trying to stop a fart. "keegles " can also help. (spelling?) I always have Imodium in my purse. I am scheduled for a modification/revision of my pouch and RNY on the 31st of this month. Post surgery, when I can have blended foods, I will add oatmeal(tablespoon uncooked) and brown rice (tablespoon cooked) to my meals as that slows things down. Maybe that will help? My Mom and several relatives had IBS, and they have not had bariatric surgery. I think I am just an IBS person with bariatric surgery, so I need to be extra careful. Good luck....
