  1. I'm scheduled to get my band on the 28th...10 more days, woohoo! I've lost 27 lbs since I started this process...so I'm hoping that I'll reach my goal pretty quickly. So 7 lbs in a week right?

  2. I don't have much experience b/c I was just banded 2 weeks ago, but please: Go back and get the fill! Don't worry about being embarrassed...you only have to worry about what you think, after all this is your weight and your body.

    I have a lot of friends who have had gastric bypass and they have lot's of problems. There are nutritional issues. They have hair loss, bone density issues, and often gain the weight back. It is a painful surgery. YOU already have a built in power tool to help you lose but you have not turned it on yet.

    How about if you try the preop diet that you went on again. This will kick start your diet and make the fill seem easy. Then go tell your doc that you never came for a fill and you want to really take advantage of the band. If you don't lose that 30 again right away then increase your exercise. I know you can do it. The hard part is already behind you. I'm praying for you. Good luck

  3. How is everything going? I gain about three lbs. I get a fill Monday, July 20. I don't have restriction anymore. It has been 12 weeks since my last fill......I just wanted to check in and see how things are going.

  4. 50 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! don't come down on urself...50 pounds is a lot of weight to lose....my exercise routine is all cardio...i need to take my flabby butt to the gym...but have no motivation to go...i have all the motivation in the world to do cardio exercise...but when it comes to the gym...i dont know what my problem is...i power walk/jog for at least an hour and a half to 2 hours 6-7 days a week...i do not count my calories any more...i measure my portion to b a half cup...i do not snack...but i'm not big on counting...i eat what i like...with an exception to rice...pasta and bread...no sweets either...but i don't have a sweet tooth...my motivation is the way i feel...i was absolutely misreable being over weight....i dont think i'll ever 4get that feeling...i'm on a natural high...i cant go back...i look at food as food...it taste good for a minute...but the damage can stay on u for a lifetime

  5. Barbara- I'm really curious about your third fill, since I'll be going in for mine in a week 1/2. Do you feel a lot more restriction this time? I'm nervous they're not going to give me anything either since I've lost weight and now I'm just in that overweight category (even if I dress heavy, I'll be down about 10 pounds since my last visit). Was the nurse telling you to check the calculator to say that you'd lost enough or need to lose more? Yeah, I'm just under 5'9" so my BMI is now 29.9.

  7. i started about 4 weeks post op walking. i have a ski machine that i use at home a lot.i dont really weight train but ive got a small set of dumbells that i use to work on my arms. besides my stomach they;re my worst area.

  8. Hey you .... On my gosh my summer has been insane! I went to the River two weekends ago, then on an Oregon road trip last weekend, this weekend the river yet again. I have never had such a fun filled summer. I am enjoying every second of this!!

     

    Enough about me... Regarding your fill I think that is totally normal. I think that they do not want us to the lose the weight too rapidly!! I am in the same boat as you. I too have no restriction at all. I have to be very careful cause I have no problem eating anything. I have not even had anything remotely close to a "close call". I figure that I am pretty safe though since I am still losing two pounds a week consistently. So my final answer is YES you are over thinking all of this!! Sounds like your tool is working wonderful!!

  9. Teachers go back a week from tomorrow; students start on the Monday after (August 17). I'm very bad during the summer and stay up to the wee hours of the night--followed by getting up very late and even napping in the middle of the day! So right now I'm trying to set my body clock back to "REALITY." I've been getting up at 5:00 am since Sunday--I'm very tired. It's good to see you so active with the June Journeys group! :)

  10. 40lbs is awesome!!!!! Ive been slacking lately really I havent worked out in a week because our gym got flodded at work so all Ive done is gone walking with my daughter who is 4. my doctor takes it to extremes with this whole not eating for like 6 days after my fill. It is so hard not to eat!! its 2 clear liquid days, 2 full liquid days, and 2 mushie food days its hard... I have my 3rd fill on August 12th and I need it!! lol

  11. I'm sorry, I have been too busy I think. First, I started back to work yesterday and then one of my wounds started opening up... eeewwww. So I saw a nurse today and she quelled any concern I had.

    Second, I started the Twilight vampire series and actually got into it. When I do that I can't put a book down, so I'm already in the middle of book three. I started Saturday afternoon on the 1st. It's a shame I can't slow down when I have an interesting read.

    It sucks more though that I can't read like that with textbooks!

  12. Yeah I thought I told you I was getting my 1st fill. I got 1cc Im doing much better It was painfully tight the 1st week but I have been able to got back on routine.

  13. I am still feelings some things but that will soon disapate. Hold on be strong!! I am not on liquids I was only on liquids for a week. The gas seems to never go away. Do you get some gas x strips? Yes I have lost 9 lbs without restrictions but I will be glad when I get my first fill. I can honestly say that I feel some restrictions now without a fill. I can never finish a meal, I now have to ask for a to go box everywhere I go.. I wasn't suppose to eat this however I tried some wings.. Well pre surgery I could eat a 10w/fries and a 16oz sweet tea. I managed to get down 5 wings a few fries. I tried Piccadilly yesterday I ordered baked chicken rice and broccoli with cornbread muffin. I was excited because it was my first meal. I broke off a piece of chicken and eat some rice and tried to swallow it and thought I was choking I couldnt get it down I could only eat a few bites and had to bring the rest home. I can see it working however, this is going to be a slower process. .

  14. I will start the Pre-Op Diet of liquids only on the 13th of this month. Looks like I am getting away with just one week. I got lucky I suppose!

  15. In your blog you said you was working on maintance and you were not going to weigh yourself that much since the scale wasn't moving. I was just checking in to see if you weighed again since it has been almost a week? Well I finally weighed again and I gained 4 lbs instead of 3, but I am ok with that. Girl it is getting closer and closer till you go and see your family. They are not going to know who you are at first. I change my looks so much with my hair styles that people at work say I look completely like a different person. Image you with your weight lost. Have you gotten the cravings out your system yet? If so what did you do so I can do the same?

  16. I"m happy that your home and feel well. I want 2 get it over with my self. i went to my last visit on the on the 17th a week ago just waiting for approval. I have aneta ppo. How long did you wait from your last visit?I hope i can have it b4 the 1st. Can you see of feel the port? Have you been up walking around?

  17. Had my band put in the 20th of July. I fell a lot better i have lost a total of 20 lbs in 3 weeks i had a little pain in my left shoulder every thing seem to be working the way to should

  18. Hi Kakki! I love your name by the way. :o) I, too, am really tired of the protein stuff. I was using the ATkins shakes, but almost 3 weeks of those things makes my throat close up. I bought some new protein powder at Target today and mixed it with 8 ounces of skim milk and put some splenda in it and ice and it tasted like ice cream. My little one even liked it. He's my taster LOL. Also, there are some really good sugar free syrups out there that are different flavors like peanut butter and mint and a lot of other flavors that are pretty good in the protein mixes. Let me know if you try any of those.

  19. Hi Jessi! Good to hear from you. I'm doing alright. I saw my nutritionist today and I've lost 6 lbs. since I saw her a month ago. At least I'm heading in the right direction. Next week I get my second fill. I hope it helps more than the first fill did. How are you doing lately? Any complications? Are you in bandster hell right now (hopefully not!) or feeling restriction?   20. i decided that if the band wasnt going to do it i would. so i got gym membership and started swimming. yes its emabarassing to be in a swim suit, but i promise nobody is going to say anything! i started swimming 3 - 4 times a week, and walking everyday about 2 miles. i cut the mash potatoes and bread, and started making myself soups, with veggies, lentils, beans, any protein sourse, i cut meat, and started making fish, and i have not had a bite of bread since march, once i started doing this the pounds shed off. heres my last piece of advice. DONT weigh yourself everyday! its not steady. and it only made me feel depressed. weigh only once a week, or once every 2 weeks. i have lost 94 pds. but its been hard work, and dedication.gastric bypass is the easy way out, give this a chance you can do it! may God bless you on your journy.

  21. Hi You are a sweetie!!! Yes, I have been planning my Birthday Vacation. I am very Well Thanks for asking. How are you my fine friend? I had some fish yesterday day I know it was a no no but I was ok with it I chewed real well and cut it into tiny pieces. I just needed to chew something. I have done well on the almost two week liquid thing. I am getting sick of it now, how about you? How is your MOM? My sister has been keeping mine busy for a few days now she is well. I see my Dr. on Friday. I think I can now feel what is inside of me and it kinda gives me the creeps when I think about what I have done to myself. I needed another tool and I hope this one works if I work at it. I have been walking 30 mins. a day briskly. Other than that, glad we are pals thanks. Please let me know how YOU are doing OK

  22. Hey you, actually haven't been on the site much, we are moving to New Mexico this week, which actually has NOWHERE to get filled....grrr. Right now I am pretty tight, but going to leave it there since I don't know when I can get to a band-friendly state. How are you doing so far?

  23. Have you read J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series? It's awesome! I hope they eventually make them into movies. I haven't read Twilight yet but I think I might. I saw the movie and I actually really liked it.

     

    See, I've never PB'd or slimed. I do sometimes get some pressure in my chest if I eat too fast or take to big a bite though. I don't stay full for 4 hours like they say, even when I have solid protein. I got a fill today so I'm at 7.3 cc. I hope this one does the trick.

     

    I'm what I call an inconsistent exerciser. I will do it 4 times one week and then none the next, then 2 times the week after that. I know I need to be better about it. I'm hoping to be 185 by my b-day so here's hoping!!

  24. Im preop. i hopefulyl will be having the surgery in september. it's hard Im 382 so they wanted me to lose 40 lbs before surgery. I've started a 6 week diet and the first 2 weeks are all liquid and I'm dying because it's 4 ensures/glucerna or protein shakes not to exceed 1000 calories per day and 2 cups of vegetables.   25. hi janice, not doing too bad been having my homemade mushed up soup but going onto the soup which is less blended now.also had a small portion of tatties and mince the other day that was left over from jakes tea went down no probs.

    i am feeling hungry but do tend to fill up reasonably quickly without over eating etc.

    had a treat on sat night a small pkt of chocolate buttons they were mmmmm!lol

    im gonna try possibly a fish pie later in the week see how i get on....what u thinking of having rest of the week?>

    no drink yet but i do have a stag do next sat so will be having a few then i would def think!!
