  1. Hi Denise, I answered your post on my site...I need a lapbandtalk lesson, I don't know where I'm supposed to post?! Noticed the post about gaining wt, don't do that, she will fill you, as long as you are not restristed she will keep giving you fills until you hit the sweet spot....it just takes awhile with some peeps, unfortunately. Anyway, I emailed you with all my thoughts and advice. When do you go back for a fill?

  2. good luck to you tuesday! I will be thinking of you and how kind you were to take the time out of your day to respond to me. I went to a party saturday night and really mentally struggled. even if was sticking to weight watchers, i could have at least had a light beer and nibbled on specific snacks. it was rough drinking water with lime and chewing gum like crazy. luckily, we started playing euchre and that was a distraction from standing around the food table where everyone congregates to talk. very few people know of my surgery and i was not about to discuss it at a party.\

i am sick of the shakes for sure, but i have not put a morsel in my mouth. best of luck and keep us posted, peg

  3. Hiya,

Well the thing is pretty much every insurance company will cover this surgery "IF" the policy you have "includes" WLS (weight loss surgery). Unfortunately in my case like so many others out there the insurance policy that my company holds WLS is excluded. This unfortunately is extremely common as companies don't want to pay the higher premium to have it covered. So that is why I went to Dr. Kuri for surgery.

For me finding him was really easy since a close aunt of mine went to him 5 years ago. You can find him at -

Lap Band Surgery - Dr. Kuri & Associates

If you or anyone wants I can put you directly in touch with a patient coordinator who was excellent in handling my case before the surgery and even has followed up with me several times since surgery. Best of luck and please feel free to message me any time!

  4. I feel well! That dry mouth thing hasnt gone away yet for me. My mouth is always dry. I was also on that diet, it sucked and it kinda pissed me off that they didnt even weight us before surgery!

I also had the shoulder pain, which has since gone away and my cuts are doing fantastic!

Its so funny to get yourself worked up over nothing, you know? Thats so me!

Let me know how everything goes! I'm glad it went well :D

  5. hey hun, just saw your post and thought id say hi. im also 22 and have the band. sucks to be so young and have already had to deal with being so over weight. i know wheat you mean by nobody gets it because thats how i feel! ive been a big girl since i was young. never experienced being skinny or "normal". i know how you feel. good job on your weight loss, and keep in touch if youd like. ~Carol

honestly the reason that i dont want vicoden is because i am an addict. yikes i said it. i hope you dont hate me now lol.

  8. First, you look amazing!! What an inspiration you are!! I am 4 months post surgery and I have lost total 51#'s and I cant seem to get past it!! I have had 1 fill; but I havent noticed much difference. I am scared that I will gain some of the weight back; did you ever gain any back while waiting for another fill?? Do you know if this is common?? Thanks again for all your posts and pictures!! Great idea to leave picture in your car!!! I am going to steal that if its ok!!

  9. Hi, I am doing ok, I have been on vacation for 2 weeks in Hawaii, did not lose anything or gain. Going in today for a fill.

I hope it helps. Sorry to hear your not losing.

  10. I was banded Oct. 29, 2008. I have a 14 cc band. I had two fills so far. (6.5 ccs total) My weight was 229. I'm now 200. I just brought a wii fit and I love it. I try to work out at least 5 times a week. I can't wait for my third fill which is March 2. My doctor isn't agressive at all. He likes doing it slow. So Im thankful I have insurance that pays for it. If I was self pay I wouldn't like that.

  11. Hey... How are you.. I haven't been on this site in a long while I came back because... I just found out I am pregos... very shocking unplanned pregnancy... 15. Hello Kristine, I am a aussie I am in Qld - thank you for your kinds words it is a long road that is forsure - at the moment things are not that great as I have gained 3kgs - I have to go back in for surgery on the 2nd Feb as my surgent put a hole in the line going to my port when I had my last fill he has to put in a new port so I had a GREAT chrissy lol - but hopeful things will get better after the port has been replaced - You will love your band there are really your best friend. Where abouts in Australia are you??

  16. hELLO i WISH YOU LUCK, YOU AND I ARE ABOUT THE SAME WEIGHT,I NOT BANNED YET BECAUSE IM SELFPAY AND IM SAVING MY MONEY,BUT I JUST WANTED TO TELL YO GOOD LUCK AND NO MATTER WHAT WEIGHT YOU ARE, YOU STILL WILL BE A PRETTY GIRL.

  17. Congrats on your weight loss!! Looking Good!

  18. I haven't been banded yet either, but I am on the way! I had my appointment with a nutritionist yesterday. That was interesting...asking questions about my eating habits (binge eater or emotional eater), my expectations of lapband and childhood history (i.e. overweight as child or not) and stuff like that. You have to really think hard and answer honestly if you expect this to work. Next the pyschology evaluation! I am excited and yet still scared! So much to consider. Keep doing your research and read all that you can about lapband! Be informed and you will make a good choice. Thanks for being my weight loss buddy! : )

  19. Thanks for your response. I am still deliberating. One thing you mentioned at the end was about how my weight has kept me from doing things I want. The problem is, nothing is motivating me enough right now to

get me going strong, except for my health. Back in June of 2005, I lost weight to go sky diving after I was inspired by an amazing group of people who jumped as a group the year before. I lost 30 pounds to jump and it was one of the most amazing things I have done. It was one major thing I did where I did not let my weight get in the way. My parents and brother all remind me how I have to keep making these goals to keep myself motivated, but nothing seems strong enough. I barely lost 10 pounds for my brother's wedding. Something has got to give. I am excited and scared by things that I might find myself doing, but I'm thinking, maybe I need to lose the weight to see exactly what I've been missing. I don't see this happening without the aid of the Lap-Band. -Gina :>)

  20. Hey girl! congratulations on ur weight loss! i am soooo proud of u!! Wish i were doing as good as u. pm me sometime.

  21. congrats on ur weight loss! u look great!

  22. Hi MyraMack:

I find this whole websit very confusing. I wasn't getting your messages and now I think I know how to find them. Anyway, for some reason I thought you were in CA and at the same Hospital as me. Your in CT, you are probably wondering why I asked if they tried to rescheule your date. Anyway, I got my pre op instructions today. Liquid diet going good, down 12lbs, though I do 2-3 shakes a day and a no carb, protein small meal and the weight has still been coming off. I'm feeling nervous, but mostly about the funeral and how I will feel and all the hugging and stuff. I'm going to do good with my pain meds on that day. Talk to you soon.

  23. I am self-pay so price is obviously a concern. I am scheduled for "banding" on February 21 with Dr.Pedro Kuri. I've heard lots of good things about him and his staff and so far, my experience has been good.

I'm nervous - not nervous about the procedure itself - but about whether I will lose weight. I understand that the band is a tool, not a solution and that I need to treat it as such. I am grateful for my family and botfriend's support, but Im worried about letting them and me down.

I broke the news to the b.f. (Alex) of my scheduled appt. and was relieved when he didn't pass judgement or try and talk me out of it (not his style). He's going to drive me down to Tijuana on Friday and stick around with me for

  24. Yes my family knows. But dh's doesnt. They live out of town. I just told mil that I lost weight cuz we were talking about diet. And she is coming here next week so I didnt want she should become shocked. In the end I didnt even loose so much so whatever.. . I didnt even have to tell her.

    what else?

  25. I'm down 77 pounds and have 23 to go but the lapband doc said to not get discouraged because since it's not as much it will take longer to shed...so you don't worry about gaining a bit..it will all come off in the end..and guess what..I (a 52 yr old woman) bought a WII fit!! That little baby can kick some serious booty if you really work it like you should..man I had muscles let me know they are alive and well and I get to laughing at myself sometimes because I'll catch myself cursing that dang little cartoon character I'm following when running and the freaky yoga lady that keeps telling me how great my posture is..but if she only knew I was holding on to a dresser to keep from falling on my back side!! HA! So life is good now and you keep up the good work..you look absolutely beautiful!!!
