It's probably water retention. When I was obese, the only way I could not retain water is to consume around 90-100 ounces of water per day. 64oz was just enough, but for me to get the kidneys kicking and filtering better, I had to increase the water intake. It was tough, but I managed it.
I would definitely check with you PCP and have some labs pulled to ensure there is not an underlying cause for the weight gain.
I am not sure if this could affect your weight loss.
Best wishes on getting your date.

Hey Tiff
I always check what you have to say and research, I have not got my date set yet probably around Sept. Oct. I have started trying to drink my 64 oz of water and when I do I gain 4-11 pounds in that day
I even have tried to take lacix (sp) water pills and I still gain. I wopndering is this going to effect my weight loss after surgery. just some imput please. I am also going to make an appointment with my PCP.
Thanks
Marsha

Hi!
I'm doing great. Horribly busy, rarely on VSG anymore - just don't have the time lately. Just a few pounds from goal, working out hard at the gym, but not making great food choices so probably why I'm not AT goal. Most importantly, I'm living life the way I want, and still slowly losing weight. Now more interestingly, how are you managing post-op? How much weight loss so far? Are you handling "real" food okay? Are you lovin' your sleeve?

I am so excited/worried/anxious, etc. about my surgery! It's scheduled for 6.08.10 and I couldn't be more ready. I am 22 years old and I've been doing the same old yo-yo with going up and down in weight. My mom has been trying to convince me to do this for about 3 years now and I've finally come around. I'm ready to start living my life the way I've wanted to. I'm so tired of people saying to me, "You have such a pretty face"...like in other words saying (if only you had the body to match). I can't wait guys!

Thanks for the encouraging response to my blog. It helps a lot to know that it does get better. I think my biggest fear is that my metabolism will get slooowwwer and slllooooowwwwwer with eating such a small amount food and that I will quit losing. Your weight loss has been great, and is definitely an inspiration!

Hello,
Well I don't know where to begin. I was skinny all through high school, got married, had two children, gained alot of weight. I now have two beautiful granddaughter's. I'm considering the gastric sleeve. I'm thinking of going to Mexico & using Dr Almanza. I've read alot of good things about him from all the postings. Two huge factors for me are safety & price. I'm a little scared of the unknown, having it in a foreign country & being put under. I've been put to sleep before, but still get nervous, My insurance won't pay the surgery.
I have high blood pressure, stress incontinence, bad knees, sleep apnea & diabetes runs in my family. I can't even remember what I used to look or feel like.
Know that I have the opportunity to have the surgery I'm scared to make the decision. Do I deserve it! To be healthy and thin again. I just want live a longer healthier happy life and be there for my kids & grandkids.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Texasgirl

Hey Kelly, to help you with the technical stuff here. Go to USER CP(control panel) at the top of the forum. Hit edit avatar on the side of the page. Upload a photo from your PC or a photo hosting website like photobucket.com
You will find all the edit options in the USER CP. Profile colors, font text color etc etc.
For the ticker in your signature, open another window or tab, and go to www.tickerfactory.com
Select a PIN, and then set up the ticker to your liking. Once it gets to the code page, Highlight and Copy the bbCode.
Come back here to your USER CP, and hit Edit Signature. You will Paste that code into the signature box, then HIT preview signature, make sure it shows up how you like it, then you'll hit SAVE SIGNATURE.
To update your signature, you'll just click your ticker in any of your posts on the main forum, it'll open a new window, you'll type in your PIN, and then hit Edit/update weight loss.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I came across a response you put into the low bmi forum. I'm considering VSG with a low bmi of 31. I was just wondering what your experience has been like? Where did you have the procedure? Did you have any complications being such a low bmi? How fast did the weight come off? Do you have a hard time with not being able to eat?
Any insight you could provide would be SOOO appreciated.

Lady B; I think all diets work. While you are on them. Then~~~~. I have been on almost every diet possible. I loose great. I gain it all back greater. The sleeve is my hope/chance to loose it and keep it off. I believe it is a life long tool for me to live a "normal" life at a "normal" weight, and still be healthy.

I think it's great you have time to get prepared! I don't know if you cook, but one of my favorite sources for soft/mushy foods was the cookbook Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. It broke the recipes down by stages and had some great ideas...it's under $12 on amazon. My favorite early puree was teriyaki chicken from Trader Joe's. The kind that was pre-cooked. I'd puree it with a little bit of shredded cheese and add some of the sauce. When I was so early out I didn't need to worry about the extra carbs from the sauce because I could eat so little. Good luck!

DeeDee thanks for your comment on my blog. I will keep you all posted. Right now the big thing is getting my head in gear with what is to come. I know it isn't until May, but it means I have a chance to lose weight and get used to some pro-shakes, bars and other beginning foods. I thought about even making a few puree foods to see what I would like. Do you have any suggestions on what you liked?

Hi Newday!
I hear ya. I thought those classes would never end. And then I thought the surgeon's office would never call. Now my surgery is just 18 days away...ack!
I think you'll be fine with the weight. You just need to get into a groove now that the holidays are over. I think I gained 5 lbs since Thanksgiving. I let myself eat anything and now paying for it. Keep at it and start walking more and you'll start losing. Which Kaiser are you going to?

Hey! Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. I just made my appt. today for the seminar and first doctors appt. (both in April) Surgery on June 11th!! Scheduling around my daughter's vacation and we are going to work in a recovery week for my husband and I in Galveston! I'm coming to Dallas to have it done...much less expensive than up north. We are from TX, so I have friends and family there. Is there anything I MUST know before getting sleeved that you wish you'd known?
Have a great evening!

Just wanted to say hi and good luck! I noticed that we have the same surgery date and thought that it might be nice to keep in touch about what we are going through! I am a little nervous about the pre-op weight loss as well, but I am hopeful! I am new at this site so I would like to keep in touch and figure all this out together...

Howdy! My husband indeed works for Mary Kay. Are you here in Dallas? Yes, my insurance is United through Mary Kay. I submitted nine years worth of medical documents and also my Weight Watchers information showing six months of meetings and weigh ins this year. Surprisingly, I heard back immediately that I had been approved.
Sorry for the big time delay in my response. I was away from the boards for a while!
