Where the heck are you all?

Hi LapBand Losers (pun intented:wink_smile:) Been awhile, sorry and I've missed reading all the double V posts (and I agree our posts are the best and most entertaining---yes I'm biased) Wanted to share with you my NSV, leaving for Key West on Sunday for work--yea I know life's tough:thumbup:. Anyway back to my NSV...guess where I shopped for all my clothes??? NY and Co!!!!! Biggest size there is an 18 and I'm sure that you've all had that feeling where your looking at the pants before trying them on and kinda size up wether it will fit you or not, praying that it will but knowing that it won't...well guess what, not only did they fit but they were too big!!! Couldn't believe it, I shopped in a normal clothing store and didn't even have to get the biggest size:w00t:!!! I have a box in my room that I'm filling with my "too big" clothes and when it's full it's going to Wings For Success, which provides clothes for women who are getting back into the workplace after abuse. My loss is their gain (again, pun intended lol)

    Change in attitude towards appearance?

I have bought a few new clothes, makeup, shoes..oh yeah shoes. Heels too. I never liked them because of feeling off balance. My hair has not changed but I always did bleach my hair since I was 18. I put makeup on most every day. I don't work so that is different for me. I wear my (casual) heels around the house to do housework in. No kidding! I feel so good about myself that I look in the mirrors now with pride and real joy. I have really lost enough weight that my underwear is smaller and bras are too. (Larger cup but smaller circumference.) I feel more like participating in life to every extent possible. I am 58 Yo and feel like I have taken off 20 years at least. (Maybe 30) I am so very happy with my band. NSV are getting so numerous that the scale is less important to me than the other victories.
  3. Congrats jaydee.... As Jim said that is a NSV !! and wow I bet you were smiling for sure..... this is just the begining ...enjoy !!!

    Strength Training

First of all, I never thought that "I" would ever be able to comment on an exercise thread so that's a NSV for me but anyway...my bariatric center built a special gym for their patients. They even provide a trainer! I love it and I really enjoy strength training. I use a little of everything then I do alternating days of cardio (walking mainly). I've recently been able to increase my weights on most of the machines...cool! I have to work on my endurance though...when I go to the gym I workout with the machines for close to an hour but cardio days are only about half an hour. I guess it's better than nothing, right?
  5. Ya'll - I may be completely nutz! I am so excited about this NSV. It may be a bit "out there", but I was actually able to "wipe" today without feeling like I was ripping out back muscles or being out of breath! Whoohoo! I turned and boom - there I was - no effort at all...I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many YEARS it has been since I was able to do that.

LOL Okay, that is too funny! I thought I was the only one whose shoulder was 'out of socket' for that job! I wll be looking for that NSV any day now!

    Hubby gone

Well, I have been dreading this day for a year, but it has arrived. My husband, John deployed yesterday to Iraq for a year (at least). It was harder than I thought it would be. He was devastated to have to leave our daughter, Lily (20 months). And me of course- but it's harder to leave the kids, especially when they're so young. :sad0: I'm so happy that I have such a strong marriage, and we can be seperated like this, and not worry about what the other is up to ( I know alot of military couples don't have that). But, it makes me miss him more. After I got home last night from dropping him off, all I wanted to do was gorge myself. Nothing sounded so good as to curl up on the couch with a crappy lifetime movie, some crappy, fatty food and a coke. But I didn't. Instead I wrote him an e-mail, and sipped my Water. So, I guess my first NSV? Anyway, I'm doing better today, but still missing him something awful. :thumbup1: Thanks for listening. -Ruby

    Cold

This, to me, is one of the greatest things EVER. I'm fairly warm blooded and being so overweight, I was always hot and just a little movement and I was ALWAYS sweaty. I actually went to the mall the other day, usually a HUGE sweat fest for me, and I only sweat a little. My cheeks still got flushed but there wasn't Water pouring off of me. YAY! That is a HUGE NSV in my world!! And I have noticed I seem to get cold easier too. Wow. That 40 lb blanket I've thrown off sure did keep me too warm!!
  9. green

    Obese!

Congrats from Green, eh. That is a great NSV and there will be many more to come.
  10. Was feeling kind of down because I had a week where I didn't lose any weight. A very wise bander suggested enjoying a Non-Scale Victory -- I thought, nothing feels as good as seeing the numbers go down on the scale. Omg was I ever wrong!! Just for the heck of it, I tried on a pair of jeans that I could not even wiggle past my hips prior to my surgery on September 5. Lo & behold... they slid on easily!! I immediately dissolved into tears because it was a precious moment for me. And, then, I got it -- I had a NSV!! I won't call it my first because, quite frankly, I've had many that I've failed to acknowledge - all equally important to my journey but overshadowed by my obsession with the numbers on the scale. I'm not getting on the scale every day anymore, I'm curbing that -- slowly. It's more like every other day (I know, I know... not much better but I said slowly...). I don't use the numbers as validation anymore because I know the weight will come off. Why? Because I'm doing everything right -- I'm not cheating & I'm committed to a healthier me! I deserve this & I'm not going to stop. And, once I found some peace -- I lost 2.5 pounds. Who knew? Lol! Anyway, thank you for all the words of encouragement, sharing your stories & the sound advise. This journey forces you to get to know yourself in ways that are unfamiliar & sometimes scary, but there's so much joy when you just trust the process & believe in yourself!! Thank you for listening!!
  11. A lot less

    I squeezed into a size 10....

Congrats on the NSV. I am very encouraged by your "testimony". I was in a 22-24 and I am now in a 16-14. I'm out 1 1/2 yrs and would love to be at goal this August. My problem is the extra fat around my stomach. I know that it's a good 5-8 #'s. I would love to have lipo but I don't see that happening unless God provides(yes, I have asked him). Again, congrats and yes, I understand the tears of joy.
  12. but then I remembered, a regular towel will actually wrap around me now and cover me up:) It's been years since that's happened. I decided to skip the beach towels.
  13. Major NSV moment. Ladies I've been a 22 - 24 for the past 18 years, thanks to GOD and the lapband I made it all the way down to a 14 (or so I thought). Hubby and I were out doing some Christmas shopping and I saw some fierce suede pants on the clearance rack for $9.99 (WOW) size 10, I passed them over, hubby said why don't you try them on, I didn't think I had a chance..... Ladies...they fit, lovely. I was in shock. I went home and actually had to study myself in the mirror. It had been so long since I had actually saw ME. I loved what I saw and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

    NSV's for she...

Uh, that is truly a great NSV. A few weeks ago wen went to Chili's (their booths have very low tables that would squeeze not just the belly, but the thighs too)... and I fit, and it was fantastic, so I know she's walking on clouds about that one!

    NSV's for she...

MsJoy wanted me to post this for her. We recently went to the Dallas area for some family, friends and fireworks. After spending the night at the local motel, we went next door to the Waffle House. Do you have them in your town? They are rather small, condensed little restaurants. The staff rarely comes out from behind the counter. They stand back there and shout out orders to the cook in a language only they understand. They are fairly cheap and they make some of the BEST waffles. But one of the problems with the Waffle House is that, being condensed, there isn't a lot of room. And if you have to sit at one of the booths, it's a tight fit. Which explains why we don't go in there much. But being our Anniversary (#31), MsJoy let me entertain my love of waffles. OF COURSE, the only seats left open were in a booth. I was trying to flag down one of the waitresses to get one of the tables reserved, when Joy steps over and slips into the booth. I was about to tell her that we could get a table in a few minutes, when she looks up at me and says, "No, that's ok. I fit..." ***INSERT BIG, HUGE SMILE*** The Anniversary trip was good....hehehe

    NSV's for she...

Hurray! Please tell MsJoy how happy we are for the NSV and congrats on the Aniversary! Being able to fit into a booth is a major mile stone indeed!

    4 Womens Eyes Only...: )

  18. I'm doing digging being a member in good standing in the First Church/Cult of Protein. Also all the little NSV's. May not be the clearest picture I've ever taken, but notice there is nearly a foot of slack in my seat belt on my flight yesterday. A year ago I was fretting having to use the extender (which gets you kicked out of the exit row). There was lots of space. Think about all the extra wear and tear we are not subjecting ourselves to by being smaller.

    Encouragment

I truly thought I'd never lose, but today I'm six months out, 85+ pounds down and feeling like a million dollars. Those stalls really kick us in the butt, though. I look hard for the NSVs or non scale victories because I know how far I have to go...but just look how far I've come already! You will get there too!!
