NSV and almost surgi-versary mini-update
favoredone posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey Guys!! Well, it's been almost a year... I won't be at goal by wednesday, unless I miraculously lose 75 lbs in 2 days!!! LOL... anywho, I'm grateful and a little more focused now!! Hopefully, the next 6 months will be filled with sweat, loose clothing and plumping muscles!! My NSV happened last weekend when I went home to be in a wedding.. I was the MOH and had a wonderful time.. My mom burst into tears when she saw me... and my best friend almost walked past me!!! LOL... I try to keep these events in my mind as I struggle with not having lost 100#s yet.. When I put things into perspective... I'm doing darn good!! No meds, besides allegery stuff... I can wear clothes in a regular department store (which has added to my shopping addiction) and I have influenced a number of people (several co-workers) to pursue WLS to help them achieve and maintain a better quality of life.. The real update is coming on Wednesday (I hope)... Be encouraged, no matter where you are on this journey.. and remember, we are changing our lives one meal at a time!!!! (now) (before) -
Today I weighed in at 220.4. So I lost 1.6 lbs this week. My total weight loss is at 25.6 lbs. I'm glad I hit the 25 lb mark and now my goal is to be out of the 220's (FOREVER!). On average (since surgery) I am losing 2.6 lbs a week. I am in a 1x comfortably in tops (I have a NSV - non scale victory - of fitting into several tops that I kept but I could barely get into on the 1x side). My pants are probably an 18 and a half (but since they don't make that size I am wearing 20's and some 18's). I bought a pair of 18W white jean capri yesterday at Kohols that i will have to "strech out" before wearing and I bought the CUTEST linen tops in XL from the women's section and I think I can get away with them if I wear a compression tank underneath (or strech them). If not I'll wear them when I start to go down to the XL size (they were that cute The only planned exersize I got this week was dancing in a Zumba flash mob this past Saturday (fun but boy do I look HUGE on the video). I've collected quite a bit of small containers and make my Bento lunch each day. I like that I can snack all day by just grabbing one (I usually have four containers). The other day I had greek vanilla yogurt in one 4 oz container. Go lean crunch cereal in a 1 oz container to mix into the yogert, a 4 oz container of cottage cheese, a 4 oz container of hamburger with mac and cheese, a 4 oz container of marinated cucumber, onion, green pepper mix. It was an eclectic mix but I ate them so spaced out that it didn't bother me. I am currently contemplating joining the Y for $50 a month to go to the aerobics classes and to use the pool for lap swimming. Part of me wants to start a walking program first at home using my zillion Walk Away the Pounds tapes first and then join the Y when school gets out and I have a more flexible schedule. I still need to work on remembering that I have had the surgery so that I stop grabbing larger portions of food that I can't eat AND remembering to eat on a pretty regular schedule. Yesterday I had breakfast and didn't eat again until 3:00 p.m. I was STARVING (I was shaking and the start of a headache was kicking in) and wolfed down some rolls at a restarant and was so sick until I walked around until I felt better (thank goodness...the person I was with was worried about me.). My lesson learned from that experience was to pack a protein bar when I know I am not going to be eating for awhile and to not start with the bread basket! Attached is a picture of me in my Zumba Flash Mob tshirt. Until next week!

I have a wonderful NSV. I work for my Surgeon. Well, they are here every other week and today's the first day I have seen any of the team ( Doc, Nutritionist and Psych) since before Christmas. I love our Nut, she is wonderful. She told me I am so tiny and that I don't look like I need to lose anymore weight. I have been told by a couple of people at work, but you never know if they are just being nice. I still can't see a huge difference myself. Anyone else have this problem? Omg!...frustrated! Neverending Stall....
Lisa :) replied to Lisa :)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Lissa!! I guess I really do need to take inventory on the NSV's: my pants are fitting looser, I'm back to walking at a higher intensity than pre surgery, my wedding ring doesn't fit anymore and since going back to work this week, EVERYONE is noticing my weight loss!!! I guess it's time to stop "shoulding" on myself especially since I refused to set a weight goal and monitor my success based on how I feel!!!! This is why I hate the scale...it really messes with my head!!! Hang in there everyone....we'll get there (wherever there is LOL)!!!!!! -
So today marks 9 weeks since my surgery and I've lost a total of 14kg (30lbs for those that don't use metric). This week also marked my first real NSV (Non scale Victory). I made a visit to my hairdresser (who also happens to be one of my besties) and she made the comment to me that when she grabbed at my hair it felt like the back of someone else's head. That might sound weird but she was referring to the fact that the nape of my neck has changed and the 'hump' at the back of my neck has gone!!! great feeling...

Ok so I was sleeved on 8/27 so I'm 4 weeks post-op. I am down 34 lbs and can tell it's really working it's way inward. For a while now it's hurt to prop my feet up on the couch and cross my ankles (bone on bone) and my wedding band is loose. I usually take a shower but last night I decided on a bath. As I was propping up my legs to shave I discovered a long lost body part! No... not that.... I have a butt bone! LOL. I have lost a lot of my weight from this area and didn't realize just how much until I tilted back just a little in the tub and ouch! So I measured... I've lost 3 inches there!

I work at a semiconductor plant in a cleanroom. We have to wear these white jumpsuits and hoods to keep particles (i.e. dust) down. I've worn a size 3X jumpsuit for 10 or 11 years. But yesterday I tried on a 2X and IT FIT!!! I asked my friend if it looked too tight and she said it looked almost too big! I'm so excited.... It makes all this hard work seem like there was nothing to it and I can keep going and fit into even smaller jumpsuits.

These are a few of my favorite things:
tiffany1521 replied to Cheer Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your NSV's My goodness, for me it's so many things! - After cleaning i'm not so winded and don't sweat anymore. - Back use to ache when i washed dishes. Not anymore baby! - dark spots on my face are clearing up - My neck is super thin and my face has pulled back considerably - After my mom uses my car ( she's way thinner than me) i don't have to readjust so i can fit. Her chair settings fit me comfortably. - My shorts are way too big. - Jeans no longer fit me. Too big. - As you stated, pooch is getting way smaller so it doesn't poke out when i wear dresses. My stomach somewhat flat in clothes. - When i climb the stairs i'm no longer out of breath - I more comfortably in small chairs. - Small clothes are becoming too big and small bras are fitting just right now. I can go on and on and on..it's not easy but the good has most definitely been outweighing the bad. -
My 1st birthday in 36 years with no cake ????
joatsaint replied to kikicoates78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on doing so well. Passing on the cake is a grest NSV! Don't worry about stalls, it's just your body's way of adjusting to the weight loss. I found that if I just stuck to my food and calorie goals, the weight would start dropping again. I've gone through at least 1 stall about every 6 weeks during the 1st year, including the dreaded 3rd week stall - right after surgery. During a stall, I tried to keep in mind that, pre-surgery, I would have been sooooo happy just to lose ANY amount of weight on a consistant basis - as long as I saw the scale moving down, instead of up. -
I'm down 62 lbs since surgery, 93 lbs total! I weigh 204 today : ) I've gone from a 24/26 jeans to a 15/16! My shirts from 3xl to L or XL. I am feeling great and having new NSV's daily. 5lbs to onderland, 7 lbs to century club! Hoping for both by Christmas. Yay me!!

CRUISE 2007 What Happened????
princess_n_thep replied to princess_n_thep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pssssssssssst.... ((looks around to see who is looking)) HUSH HUSH NEWS BANDSTERS!!! ((come closer to the screen I have to whisper)) Can you all keep a secret???? (nods nods nods nods all around) Well we had the BEST time on this cruise I thought that maybe I would venture to put together yet ANOTHER one (although less expensive and 4 nights/5 days). It would be out of LA port on Royal Caribbean in Early December. Give me a week to work out the details, but watch for the thread!! And shhhhhhhhhhhhhh:kiss, don't tell anyone yet!! (hee hee, I have about 5 cabins going already and I don't even have the exact prices yet!!):cry This cruise will be open to children, husbands, spouses, significant others, friends, siblings, banded or not that want to go. We created such strong bonds between all of us and I want that to continue to grow. Maybe someday we will have enough of us that we will book the ENTIRE ship! This bandy cruise is going to be even bigger and better (which by the way will be hard to top!) P.S. To my June cruisers: you are all wonderful and I miss you very much. Thank you for laughing at my dumb jokes and my karaoke fiascoooooooooo!:faint:Each and every one of us showed the true "us" with our laughter, comedy, pranks, sexy dresses, confidence, self respect, and comfort. GREAT NSV TRIP LADIES!!!!! THINK ABOUT ALL OF THOSE NSV'S YOU DID LAST WEEK REALLY!!!:hungry: Gotta go before someone hears me....... (sneaks out the door):bandit -
Got my second Fill Today, I am almost 2 months post Op. I have been getting lots of exercise and activities. Dusted off my Bike, etc. I have only lost 2 pounds the last 2 weeks. I started at 305 and I am hanging out at 280. My first fill was only .5 CC, got a 1.5 CC today for a total of 2 CC. I feel and look like I have lost more weight than the scale says, but it definately has me bummed out a bit. I do crave Sugar. I am hoping that I put on muscle. I'm wondering if more people know there Body Fat Percentage. I wonder if this is a good and accurate "NSV". I am down from a whopping 41% of 305 which is 125 Pounds of Fat to 35% of 280 (which is 98 pounds). Wondering if anyone else thinks about it in this way?

Guys, I had a nice NSV the past week or so. I have been wearing my favorite cologne for a while now but all of the sudden women are stopping and saying omg you smell so good, five separate times this week alone. Don't remember that 60 lbs ago. May be my body chemistry is changing with the weight loss. I am seven weeks out. I'll take it.

I agree with OTR.... I think it's you Chad2Rad... That's a great NSV. I think it's just a clever way way for women to come on to you or show that she interested. Believe me... if she wasnt... you wouldn't get that kind of attention. Congrats on the weight loss!!!

All of you are doing wonderfully! Even when the scale's not moving, remember it's not going UP like it would have in preband days! You're probably getting NSVs (non-scale victories) that you're not even aware of yet. Have you tried your rings on lately? Been able to tie your shoes without passing out? Clothes getting looser? Don't look for the closest parking spot anymore? Your face doesn't get all red, and you're not huffing and puffing as much? Able to vacuum the house w/o having a heart attack? Shave your legs easier? (You'll think of many, many more!)

Surgery in the AM
FloridaGal1976 replied to FloridaGal1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These are a size 14 Capri that I was only able to squeeze into several years ago, and after dieting for a few months. I wasn't able to wear them for very long, and when I did, they were so dang tight. I'm 21 pounds down so far, and only a few pounds (and some swelling) from getting them closed. I can't believe it has finally happened...
Summer Rain posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I got on the scale this morning and it read 199.0! I think it has been 18 years since I weighed below 200 lbs. I went shopping last week and I was able to buy XL tops and size 16 pants! That is down from 3X tops and 24 pants. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I am 52 years old. I was sleeved on November 4, 2015 (15 weeks ago). My recovery from this surgery was very easy and I am thankful every day that I had this procedure done. I now LIKE leaving the house to go places and I hope to have a job interview in the next week or so (telephone interview last Friday). I even took a picture of me in my new interview clothes and sent it to my daughter and I would not be embarassed if she showed it to anyone else. That is a big deal as I have stayed out of pictures for YEARS. Two weeks ago I took my son to visit a college campus and I was able to walk the the whole tour! That was about 2 hours of walking around the campus and different buildings. 6 months ago I couldn't have done that. HW: 265 SW: 243 CW: 199 Good luck to those just starting this process. All you post-op people please keep posting your successes and NSVs - they are appreciated and encouraging to all of us. Summer -
After reading so many comments about people being near their goal weight, I have to question my own goal weight. The Dr asked me what I thought my goal weight should be based on what I believe my bone size (I said medium). So anyway I currently weigh 265 ish and I am 5'8" ish. I told the Dr that my goal was 160-170 and he smiled. He did not disagree. I wouldn't mind getting back to 145-150 lbs but wonder if that is "too thin". I would rather be 170 and very fit. Since I recently had spinal cord surgery, exercise will not be as intense as it is for other Sleevers. I included that knowledge when factoring my goal weight. The thing is, I wasn't planning on worrying about my weight, but instead to use NSV's as a tracking mechanism. I planned to weigh in maybe once every two weeks.... but I constantly read people weighing in daily (?), or every couple days. Maybe I am looking at this wrong?!?! Lastly, I focused more on other types of goals instead of my weight, such as: - being able to exercise for a full hour per day - I want to do one charity race per year (Avon, Walk for a Cure etc) - walking up the stairs without being out of breath - Walk up multiple stairs LOL - getting into a size 12, 10 or 8 - being able to play with my kids (not be winded or tired) - maybe I will never run again, but chase my kids, or even a light jog daily.. that would be nice - able to have amazing stamina in the bedroom (bow chicka wow wow) LOL - I desire steamy romance, but being big makes it kind of uncomfortable and limits my stamina - and maybe getting a few looks here and there... - this is a selfish NSV, I know. But I am 30y/o and there is still a need to feel sexy. Honestly, I wasn't so fixed on a number. Any number under 200 would be welcomed at this point. I know it sounds odd since so many people have that "number" and stay strict to it. I have always been the odd girl out, never following the norm.. So yeah, my goals seem to focus not on weight but on NSV's and I wonder if that is going to be a problem.
