  1. You are so lucky. My problem is with my appetite this past week or so. I am not hungry. I drink water when I can. I notice that when I put ice in my water I drink it more easily. I have a b12 vitamin patch now and I take centrum. Tomorrow is my first post op appointment. Let's see what the doctor tells me. I love herbalife shakes and I am going to use them as my protein shakes. I tried other brands and don't like the taste. Yes the chicken broth is great. I will definitely try the Chobani low fat yogurts. Thank you so much.
  2. I’ve had such a great recovery and I thank god for that. Drinking was hard week one but now I can drink no problem. I still don’t remember to take my vitamins everyday but I plan on getting the patches so it’s easier. I drink water when I can. I found these chobani low fat yogurt drinks they are amazing and 10 grams protein. The protein shakes gave me the runs so instead I try and drink 3 cups for 1% milk. Sf pops and jello. Oh and chicken broth is heavenly when your struggling to swallow. It gets better trust me.
  3. Hey everybody, So I have a question, how many grams per portion do you scoop on your plate ? For example yogurt , how many grams do you eat? I want to measure my food again. So I started with 100 grams, it was a satisfying portion but I could eat a bit more but I don’t want to push it (8 days post op now)

Yogurt 3/4 cup greek yogurt, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 oz walnuts, 1/8 oz dried cranberries, 1/8 oz toasted edamame, 1/8tsp chiaseed, 1/8tsp hempseed, 16 dark chocolate chips, sf hazelnut syrup 280-320 cals MFP not working right now I only ate half
  5. I am 1 week and 1 day post op Gastric Bypass. Today I started puréed food. Everyone talks about how fast they get full. I know I’m probably over thinking this BUT I had 1/2 of a Greek yogurt around 1:00 and around 6:00 I had a 1/2 cup of a creamy soup. In between I also kept up with my protein shake. I’m comfortable but not over full at all like everyone made it sound that I would be. Can anyone give me a little idea what you are or were taking in around this time please :)

SF ice pops, SF Jello, pickles, chew on SF gum. All are low or no calorie. Yogurt in your protein shake is a great idea, not much needed and will help fill you. For your broths add veggies and seasoning then strain after. I added ground garlic, onion powder, pepper, chopped onion and carrots to mine. Of course make sure your surgery team approves. Best of luck to you, you've done a week already. Stay strong, you got this!!!!!!
  7. I surely hope that it gets better with time. My hunger sensation right now after the surgery is at its peak , also when I eat my yogurt etc , the first few days I felt restriction but now it’s just being nauseous , and if that’s over, the hunger comes back. It’s super weird , to say the least
  8. Hey y’all. So I’m experiencing the hunger sensation even after I had my meal. I’m in the liquid stage still. But is it normal to experience hunger , even if I just ate. I eat very liquified stuff, like runny yogurt, non fat sugar free custard etc But even after that, I still feel hunger. How did you work through this and what did you eat feel the restriction? Xoxo
  9. I can just now at 10 months tolerate beef, and then only a really tender small piece, and salad just now stays down. Lettuce brought on the slimes so fast it was crazy. I rely on chicken thighs, pork steak w a little fat free gravy, ground turkey, eggs, cheese, deli turkey, yogurt, cottage cheese, fish. I upchucked if I ate too fast, or the meat was dry, or if I took one bite over. You learn to stop short of being full lol....

Hi. I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I thought I'd try. I had a nocturnal eating disorder. Sugar free popsicles got me through. I started to view the feeling of being hungry as a success, knowing that I was losing weight. I added a lowfat plain yogurt to my shakes, as well. That really helped too. I also tried to sleep through some of it. It's not easy for sure. I also kept in mind how desperately I wanted the surgery and knew it couldn't happen if I didn't follow the liver shrinking pre-op diet. I hope that helps a little. Take it one moment at a time. You've got this! It's so worth it! Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August surgery ppl

Thank you Marisol - and congratulations on your upcoming surgery as well. I do feel about 30% better since I was able to pass a bowl movement but still very sore and scared that my bowels will stop again (words can’t even explain the pain from that). I’m hoping it happens again soon as like a reassurance it’s all still working right after the suppository though everyone says it should be and I just don’t have food in there right now. I’m trying to work on some yogurt right now but I get so full after like a couple bites.

    Non sweet protein

I’m so with you— I can’t stand the protein shake options. I was doing broth with unflavored protein, but I get burnt out on that fast— but good with add ins like garlic and ginger too. My favorite thing right now is low fat Greek yogurt with unflavored protein and a giant shake of TJ’s everything but the bagel seasoning (though I’m not sure it’s completely ok because it has poppy seeds and sesame seeds in it), za’atar or just salt and pepper. The cream of tomato soup from BariatricPal pal is super yummy though I haven’t asked the nut about it. I got the variety pack of soups and I enjoy them, but they aren’t whey protein isolate. Pre-op I was a big fan of the Syntrax Nectars Fuzzy Navel and Grapefruit that I made with 30 oz of water and a ton of ice cubes. Now, it will take me all day to drink that and it isn’t the same without a straw! Still, they are decent with less water! The only RTD protein shake I really can stand is Iconic Protein in chocolate. It doesn’t taste artificial or very sweet (they have a Golden milk option that sounds good, and coffee but I can’t have caffeine)

    Food Before and After Photos

Lunch yesterday-one of my quick fixes: Boar's Head Lacy Swiss (lite cheese) + BH Blackened Turkey Breast + veggies + dip. I hate wasting calories on bad fats in bottled dressings (one of the few areas I'm a purist about--eating crappy oils, trans fat, and super esterified fats), and hate "wasting cals" on sour cream when I really need a bit of Greek yogurt in my day. So I make my own using Greek Zero Fat Yogurt (plain) and any WF dressing, or spices that approximate the packaged dressings. This was GY + WF Balsamic Vinaigrette + Gran Garlic + Gran Onion + black pepper. YUM! Oh and a splash of Bragg's ACV. It was a "small pouch day" hehe. IKR? (sorry the bowl is messy--didn't feel like turning it into a clean bowl after I mixed it.)

Why I am so hungry all the time.

What soft foods are you eating? Yogurts, cottage cheese, jello, soup, pudding? Chicken salad, tuna salad, flaked fish, tofu, hummus, refried beans? Some things "slide" right through you leaving you hungry quickly, (if you see the term sliders thrown around thats whats being referring to) Even in the soft stage you have to try to eat denser protein to stay fuller longer, this will be the balancing act of your journey I combat my "hunger" (some times its not) with warm soothing drinks until the next scheduled meal. BTW You can do this !!!
  15. I am 5 days post op today from the sleeve. I had a horrible experience and wanted to share to see if anyone else had the same experience. Surgery Day- I woke up after surgery, I was shivering so bad and I was in severe pain at my stomach site. Day 1 post op- there was 1 day I was in the hospital and I slept most of this day as I was in severe pain. Did not drink anything Day 2- i again was not able to eat or drink anything. I got released from the hospital, went home and felt horrible. I could not keep anything down. I was throwing up from the medicine and had a fever. So we went back to the hospital where they readmitted me. Day 3- I was in severe pain again, and dry heaving since I had nothing in my system to throw up. I was only able to drink about 4 or 5 oz of water. I wanted nothing to do with the crystal light or the broth the hospital gave me. Day 4- I thankfully was able to drink some more water today, around 18oz. Finally was released late afternoon. Still feeling sore but a little better Day 5- I am feeling better, not as sore but the gas pains are still a huge factor and painful!!! I was able to manage about 20oz or so of water, I did not have any broth or any other clear liquids. I did have one small spoon of Greek yogurt. I hope this process gets easier!!! Let me know if you guys had any complications and how you overcame them!!
  16. It certainly seems slow to me! lol But the creamy soup is the only other liquid I can have. I can't have yogurt or anything else.
  17. Yay! Congrats! Seems like your progression is quicker than mine has been! In no time you’ll be joining me in puréed land! Thinking about having some cottage cheese or yogurt tomorrow morning...yum!

  19. Had surgery 7/30 and I’m VERY excited because tomorrow (three weeks out) I can finally have cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding, and puréed foods at long last! This whole liquids thing has been getting super old... Are you all going to yell at me in shock and horror if I confess that I’m thinking about starting a teensy bit early and making ricotta bake tonight for dinner?

    Food Before and After Photos

Here was a lunch I made with leftover grilled chicken. I ate 1 entire lettuce cup of these. That is a lunch plate--so much smaller (8in) than a dinner plate. Each cup had 2 1/2oz of protein in each one. I made Mexican crema using Greek Zero Fat Yogurt, some FF Fairlife milk to thin it down and a tiny splash of lime and a pinch of salt. Sorry, no after shots.

    I got cocky

I totally agree with all of you. I was handling yogurt and broths so well that I just got stupid. One egg is the limit for me from now on. Well, when I can look at eggs again without feeling nauseous.

    really not losing weight rapidly

So what are your macros? And your body isn't going to just drop weight quickly and all the time, that isn't how it works. Slider Quest bars? Extra protein shakes? What does that even mean? Quest bars at 3 weeks are not really needed, I only used those if I had no time or had to run errands and had an erratic schedule going on. This journey takes some planning. Start some pureed foods, some real food protein - you will be better satisfied. Greek yogurt, ricotta cheese, refried beans, etc. At 3 weeks I doubt you are consuming very many calories, but you don't say how many grams of protein you consume or if you are drinking at least 64oz of liquids. And there is a common stall around 3 weeks anyway. You are not healed, there is still inflammation and this takes time. You need to relax this isn't a race, all changes are long term here, enjoy the scenery along route. Stay off the scale for now and concentrate on the habits until you get a routine and figure out what works for you. It is very individual for all of us. The walking is the best thing right now.

    Liquid diet (pre op)

Me again still fighting to good war and slogging forward to surgery Currently my favorite 2 brands are Premier Protein and Muscle Milk. I still have 1 container of Svelte French Vanilla and 1 Avant EDGE French Vanilla. those are soy-based, Premier Protein and Muscle Milk. Find myself gravitating toward the more funky/kicky flavors, So I have caramel and Peaches and Cream premier protein, Strawberry, Blueberry and Strawberry-Banana yogurt Muscle Milk. Of course chocolate variety are out because of my allergy, but I DON'T like Vanilla very much. Goes back to my baby Frustr8- hood, Mama Frust and Daddy Frustr Made a Lot of Vanilla Milk shakes. And Vanilla to me is uninspiring, it's Thick, White and tasteless. Guess I could throw some berries in there and blenderize the snarf out of it, but today I don't want to throw it in and take the stick blender to it., then have that container to wash. True confession- if I suddenly was gonna turn bad. And required eternal punishment , the two ways I would be tortured? Washing greasy nasty dishes throughout Eternity or working in Satan's Counting house and My drawer would never count it right! Good Thing I'm God's Little Lamb isn't it? Some days it's hard to keep my little sheep legs moving fast enough to keep up with the flock! A very good thing Jesus Christ is my Good Shepherd and won't let me. be hurt or injured any other way. After my surgery I'll probably head for bone broths and other savory flavors, I will be protein-shaked to my core. Still I remain grateful for This final opportunity to change my life for the better. I was fearful I would remain. sorrowfully obese, in pain, and seeing the Death Angel looming ahead. Told Sister Jean once I always wanted to be a martyr until I found out how rough the initiation was. Bet she wished I'd gone outside and played outside of tagging along with my Catholic cousins . But she had saintly forbearance and said I made them study their catechism better to stay ahead of me.A Win- Win?
  24. I was the same way! I could've done anything for some cucumbers or carrots or peppers. I was only allowed 3 protein shakes, ice pops, 2 cups chicken broth, jell-o, and one yogurt!! I really did enjoy my broth

    Pity Party - WAAAAAAAH!

I had to take a swallow test to determine if I was a candidate for sleeve. Turns out I’m not. I had acid reflux and esophagus muscles that would not push the food through. So 8 days ago I had bypass. On full liquids still, soups, yogurt, etc. but, so far, so good. Sleeve-bypass May be your best bet. Good luck!
