Any other July 1st sleevers home?
Camella replied to Bredred's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow ladies you are doing really well and from the pics I see you look great!! I had a stall from day 10 to day 24 where I did not lose anything, but started moving again a couple of days ago. I'm also struggling with the Fluid - probably averaging 40 oz. My energy levels are really low. What are your week 4 stats? Surgery Date: 7/1/2013 Age 41 Height: 5'1 First weight -in with Surgeon: 225 SW: 220 CW: 199 (onderland!!!!!!! as of today) How much are you eating? Way too little I think - I need to see a dietician (my surgeons is on leave) Calorie range? 400 to 500 Have you stalled, yet? Day 10 to 24 Any NSV's? Who can actually drink 64 oz?!?!?!? 40 oz only - I try every day to get to 64 oz and fail miserably What kind if exercising are you doing? nothing yet. I'm exhausted just running up and down stairs at home. Now realizing that it may be that I'm not eating enough. Weird thing for me - my clothes still fit me (must have been squeezing myself into my clothes) and only one friend has even noticed that I have lost weight. I can see a big difference though. -
One I didn't even realize I was doing.....

So I have a NSV that I noticed this morning and didn't realize I was even doing it until my daughter said something. We were driving to school this morning and she looked over at me and said "Mom, Is it really safe to be driving with your foot in the seat like that?" Then I realized it. There it was.... I had slipped my foot out of my flip flop and put my foot on the edge of the seat and was driving like that. Safe maybe not, but let me tell you this, coming from someone who use to worry about the steering wheel touching my tummy when I was driving, to having my foot in the seat with me, it was a huge victory. I almost took a picture of it but I figured it wasn't a good idea.lol I'm feeling better and better every day. Walking, running and just moving in general feels so good. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! PS... If you are thinking about having the sleeve done, don't wait! Do you and your body a favor and DO IT!!! -

I was going to say 2 things, look at your face!! Wow! How much younger do u look? And as above, look at the pressure coming off your knees as your thighs get smaller and your legs come closer together!! Those are def NSV!! Go u!! -
Congrats Mezz! I am a pre-opper but I drink protein drinks bcuz I like them and use them as a meal replacement if I don't have time. My favorite is EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control, chocolate. It's thin in consistency, which I personally like. I like it best cold. I don't know if temperature makes a difference for your new sleevie. It hat 17g of protein, 4 carve (3g net carve bcuz of 1g of fiber), 110 calories and 3g of fat and is 11 oz. I get a box of 24 at BJ's Wholesale Club, sorry the price is escaping me at the moment. Best of luck to you and look forward to updates and NSV sharing!

New body, new set of problems
VSGAnn2014 replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Boy, sorry to hear this. I had a very different outcome from my WLS. At nearly 70 years old, I look decades younger than I did before being sleeved. My pain (from arthritis) is practically nil these days. I haven't had an Aleve or any other NSAID in 17 months. I walk for nearly 4 miles each day for exercise, plus the walking I do at home and at work. My physical rejuvenation and ability to move are some of my best WLS NSVs. I lost 95 pounds, am maintaining at 140 pounds easily (am 5'5") and definitely do not look "skeletor." I am a standard size 8 (and vanity sizes 6 and even 4) and look hawt for my age. My pre-WLS, agoraphobic self was definitely depressed. My 14-months post-op 140-pound cute self is definitely not depressed. Obviously, everyone's mileage varies considerably. I endorse others' advice that you seek some good counseling and medical care for the things that are plaguing you these days. You don't have to put up with these kinds of outcomes. -
I hate to say it, but I must confess...I ate Cookies today. I had not cheated at all before this. I ate two regular sized cookies from Mrs. Field's. A super chocolatey one and a chewy pecan one. I feel so bad for it. Boo me!:crying: However I did have an NSV today, I bought a 1x cardigan from Macy's instead of my old 3x. Yay me! :tongue2:Thanks for listening guys.

Last year my school ordered wanted to order shirts for all the teachers to wear on special days. Last year when I put on the shirt I ordered it was too tight and I never wore it to work. I almost put it in the trash. I'm glad I didn't b/c now the shirt fits perfectly. I've worn it twice to school. NSV - Non scale Victory

I have been trying to get about 700 calories daily. (At six weeks out, my initial goal of 800 was too ambitious.) I use MFP to track and it’s interesting to see how I have this cycle of more hungry followed by less hungry. I think “normally thin” people perhaps eat like this. We keep hearing them say, somedays I eat a lot and then the next day, I eat a little less to accommodate for the treat from the day before. I’m not sure I understood that before, because when I tracked my calories, I was always trying to stay under some ridiculous minimum that left me hungry all the time so I ate every one of the calories I allowed myself. But now, letting my hunger dictate my caloric needs seems to be producing this nice up and down curve (A sinusoidal curve, us geeky statisticians would call it). But it’s sweet nonetheless. Another NSV! Listening to my body and feeding it appropriately. Are you guys seeing the same thing?

Update! I can't believe it's been 7 months since I last wrote...
mom24teens posted a blog entry in Lappin' it Up
Wow - so much has happened in so little time. I haven't been on the forum since May; we've had such a busy summer. Now that school's getting ready to start it's going to get even busier! When I was last on in May, I had just publicly made it my goal (posted it on FaceBook) to reach 100 lbs lost by my birthday, which was 8/12. At that point I had lost 70+ and was feeling on top of the world. I had even bought an elliptical machine from someone at work and was ready to kick up the exercise program a couple notches....which I did, along with adding water aerobics twice a week. HOWEVER, I hit a MAJOR plateau in June that lasted into July. Ugggghhh! I talked to the doc about it and he said not to worry, all was well, and plateaus are to be expected. He was pleased with my overall progress and said to keep up the good work. As the numbers in my signature say, I have not yet reached that 100 lb goal - YET!! I am very pleased to be at the 87 lb mark and closing in on that 100! After all, today marks only 8 months since I started the pre-op diet and that is what I count as my starting point. Some NSV's for me include: 1-starting in a size 24/26 and I just bought some 14/16's!! I found a couple ladies with some size 16's for sale on Craigslist and THEY FIT! Soooooooo exciting for me 2-starting at ZERO minutes of exercise per week and now, I exercise an hour a day at least 4 days a week, if not 5. I do the elliptical for 20-30 minutes then go for a walk outside to round out the hour (sometimes it goes past), or water aerobics twice a week for an hour each, and sometimes I just grab my husband and tell him we're going for a walk. This has benefitted him too! Today we walked 5 miles and had an hour & 40 minutes of pleasant, uninterrupted together time. <3 3-the compliments I have gotten from people at work and who haven't seen me for a while never fail to make my day brighter! ========================================================================================================================================= Things that haven't been so great: 1-After my last 2 fills, I have had nausea & diarrhea that evening - anyone else experiencing these sypmtoms? 2-I have gotten "blocked" a couple times and it HURTS!! It hasn't been so bad that I've had to go have an unfill, just pain that lasts until the food moves past the band I suppose as the band gets tighter, I have to pay closer attention to chewing, swallowing, and eating SLOWLY! 3-Constipation. I have had issues with this for a few years since I tried another weight loss program, but still had problems and finally started drinking MiraLax (or the generic equivalent) every day and this has worked well for me. ========================================================================================================================================== Am I glad I did it? HELL YEAH!! Would I do it again? In a heartbeat! Am I loving the results? Oh yes!! I have reset the timeline on my 100-lb goal for the 1st of October. We'll see if it happens by then, and I would be ecstatic if it were to happen before then. But, even if I don't get there by then, I know I will eventually, and I just have to be patient and let it work. After all, I didn't get that big over the course of a few months and I shouldn't expect it to all go away that soon either -
Nsv From My 12 Yr Old Daughter
Lissa replied to cassieh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great NSV from your daughter... and give her a break about being totally honest with you now. I think it's amazing that she managed not to say anything before you lost the weight! Most kids aren't that diplomatic. -
Okay, I managed to lose .1 pound last month - according to my dr. So I decided we need to start recognizing our NSVs here. I bought purple jeans about 3 weeks ago that were tight - and today they fit just fine. I lost my measurement book so I didn't measure for awhile. Then I found my measurements for June and July. Holy crapole, have I lost inches... I have never worn 12s (and baggy 12s) when I weighed this much 178 in the past. Somehow I keep losing fat and not muscle. I have tracked body fat with my scale and my measuring shows a total weight loss of 35.6 pounds with only 4 pounds of that being lean mass and the remainder fat loss. Okay, some other wabbits need to post their NSV. I'm guessing we will really slow down with the holidays so its time to recognize the victories. Celeste

Weighed in at 197 this morning! I'm one week shy of my three month mark and I feel great! Some progress... I actually don't know my starting pant size because I wore sweats the final year before getting sleeved, I didn't wear jeans for probably the better part of two years because I was so ashamed! But the biggest pair I have in my possession is a stretchy pair of 18 pants, but I was at least a 20 Now I'm wearing a size 16 comfortably, with room to spare Again, with shirts the highest I have is XXL because for the last year up until surgery I wore oversized tee shirts and huge hoodies Now I'm wearing between a XL/L, depending on what brand it is It makes me sad to realize I wore the same stuff for a whole year! And sometimes I do get discouraged because I see that with 60 pounds gone I've only changed one shirt and pant size...but then I remember that these new sizes are actual clothes such as jeans and nice blouses, where as before it was sweats and hoodies So today I'm proud of myself, I'm becoming more and more comfortable each day and I know without the sleeve it wouldn't have been possible! I love my sleeve and I am finally experiencing life instead of watching it pass me by plagued by fear! I think me not being so critical of myself might even be an NSV for me lol!

I am glad the OJ is working, do you take any meds for diabetes or high BP? If so, it might be time to have you PB and sugar levels checked to see if you need to cut down on those meds also. That could explain alot. If you are not taking such meds, I would still run it by you doc at your next check up just to make sure. I have been experiencing the same things, but I know its cuz I am on the too tight side and can't really get anything down until about 3p.m. So mine is from hunger. Hey though, at least you are not fat and getting it because it has been 30mins since you've eaten. LOL, its funny how even the stupidest stuff is like a NSV in our band world!

Lol!!!! Now that's an NSV right there! I literally laughed out loud...that has to be the best embarrassing/victory moment I've read on here...thanks for sharing! And congrats on your awesome weight loss!!!!!!!!!!!

Great NSVs! I love that my feet don't hurt as soon as I'm out of bed in the mornings. Digging being comfortable crossing my legs again (and not needing the assistance of my arm lifting my leg to cross them). And as you said....loving that food doesn't have the same irrational pull it had on me before surgery. Happy too that the way I look on the outside is starting to match how strong and happy I feel on the inside. Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

Hmm.... Week 1 weight loss, or not.
OneDollarBill replied to OldMomOf3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost 19 lbs pre-op (360lb at surgery) and as of this morning I am 344. There is part of me that wants more. However I am only 9 days post op. I have to remind myself I didn't get this way over night so i can't expect it to come off that way. It's hard to not be a slave to the scale. I like NSV more. My clothes are fitting better and I have have been losing inches on my measurements. Stay positive and keep up the work.
