December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
size10again replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, Vicky~ Have you been drinking warm water as your first drink of the day? My instructions say to start each morning with warm water t reduce mucous and to do this forever more. My instructions also say to take pepto for diarrhea. Have you taken anything for the diarrhea? Now my turn to share TMI! I have been without a BM since surgery until this AM. I took milk of magnesia the last two nights. When do you return to work? Joan -

Good Morning, Ladies! So you're still getting snow, Candice! I'm sure they're still getting it in Buffalo, too. Janet... hugs on going back to work. Hope the pain is less today, Karla! Going to the pool... no energy, but going anyway. First time to the pool w/o the scooter. Haven't used it in days. It's really bothering Zoey!! LOL! She loves to ride in the golf cart, but she still wants to go in the scooter and keeps sticking her nose under the cover! Thing is, if I'm not in the pool/hot tub nearly every day, I start having serious skin problems. Showers apparently don't cut it. Very red sore rash under all the skin folds... sorry, TMI!! Smearing it with gel the Dr. gave me several times a day is not helping much this time. So... at least the hot tub today. Not much energy and still coughing up junk! I"m ready to be done with this crud! Hope you all have a great day! Missing Linda and others!! Where are you??? -
December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
vickyd replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you are doing great, Joan. I don't know about others who have already been banded but I am definately feeling some restriction (even though there is no fluid in my band). I am finding that it takes me so much longer to drink a protein shake (at least 30 minutes for an 8 oz shake) and in the morning when I take my vitamins (they are chewable but I drink some water afterwards) I have to wait several hours before I feel like I can even begin to drink a shake. I am happy about this because I am already starting to learn to listen to my body so that I don't feel over full...hopefully, this will help when I move to mushies next week. Also, I know this is TMI but is anyone else having trouble with diarreha? I don't know if it is just because I am on liquids but I feel like everything that I take in is just running right through me. On a positive note, I have lost 4.2 lbs since my surgery this past Thursday so I'm happy with that. Good luck to all of you being banded this week! -
I used a heating pad in bed and it has worked wonders for my back pain. but walking helped some too. I had my period 1 week post op so that wasn;' very fun either. Sorry if ithat was TMI (too much info)
-
I haven't checked in since Nov 15. Thanksgiving I didn't lose anything (definitely ate poorly, but exercised like a crazy person every single day including the day of thanksgiving and on Sunday morning before we went to the airport). Anyways, today I'm at 208.8 which is 5.2 pounds less than I was on Nov 15. A few days ago I was at 207.8, but then I got my monthly friend and I'm up a pound. Trying not to despair lol. This happens every month (but its still frustrating, despite the predictability of it). Hopefully it will start back up again after my period is over (sorry if its tmi ).

Welcome Jackie!!!! 40lbs is alot and does make a huge difference so kudos to you!!!!! First of all, JANET WE ARE GLAD you are back!!! Karla, a bear? in WASAGA BEACH? no, but that was funny.... we don`t have any bears around these here parts! We have LOTS of deer, skunks, squirrels.... but no bear or moose... Moose live WAY up north from me... about 3-4 hour drive up north. We woke up today to a FOOT of snow! It was falling all day yesterday, and today, well I am sure LOTS of people stayed home from work. THe snowfall itself is not the problem, as we have awesome truck crews to clear the roads FAST,,,, but its when is comes along WITH wind!!! You desert rats know about the wind eh? well its been blowing 30 mile/hour winds with the snow sqawls so that is the danger... you get WHITE OUTS from the wind... Phyl, you musta heard froom your sisters in Buffalo... it got dumped on too.. worse than us I hear. So I feel like singing Christmas songs now!!! LOL what else is there to do??? Pewter is out shoveling/snow bloowing and Bridget is helping him... I know this cause I can hear her barking her face off outside... she hates the shovel, tries to attach it... SILLY girl, if daddy didn`t shovel paths for her in the backyard she`d be way up past her hiney to pee and poop ( TMI) so she has these trenches to run in... plus she HOPS in the snow to get from place to place.. it is so damn cute!!! wish I had a video Phyl, so to make sure I get this... You wanted to buy a PARK model trailer down there? but EARL thought too much money?B would you then have sold your Aclass??? and just driven back and forth from Seattle to Palm Dessert? Stayed in my jammies all day yesyt. still in ythem now!! its NOON I should be SO assamed. LOL Karla, its o.k. not TMI after youve had surgery... I am glad you pooped too!!!!! Hope it didn`t hurt to much... yikes... now I`m TMI:o Janet; can`t wait to see the picutres... there`ll be great. So glad you had a fabulous vacation.. It must have felt so good toknow that you gave them all those NICE memories forever... You are a special La-La -
Phyl....did I read it right that you live in Desert Hot Springs part of the time? I used to live in Palm Desert and Twenty-Nine Palms.....Go Figgur! There is a great thrift store in DHS I used to love to go to! Getting ready to go on walk number two. This might be TMI for some of you, but do you know what I got on my 4 month bandiversary? I got my period....after a year of not having one! I read somewhere that loosing weight can cause your hormones to go crazy, Is this true? That was one thing I was NOT missing. Well ladies some feedback would be helpful!:thankyou:

So what are you going to do when you loose your weight
Swan56 replied to XBIGJIMX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow - TMI with some of that but I do understand what you're saying. However, stage diving is not a dream of mine... lol. Maybe my husband being able to pick me up would be nice. I mean, he can now (cuz he's strong as crap) but like "over the threshold" or "piggy back ride" kind of stuff. -
This post might be a little TMI for some, but I'm on the pre-op diet and I am drinking a ton of crystal light. About a gallon a day, because I can't get myself to drink that much water in a day. I feel like i'm forcing myself to throw up. Since I am only on liquid (liquid in, liquid out) the crystal light is turning my poop the color of the drink. I found this amusing and was wondering if anyone else was having an issue with this? I love crystal light but I'm afraid that it dieing my excriments might mean it's a little excess. Do you think I could have any issues because of the excess die?

Gall Bladder question (TMI but need to know)
dbrjredd posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many sleevers also got their gall bladder removed? Mine was removed with my sleeve surgery & I am wondering if this awful watery diarrhea will ever go away or is this something I will have to live with from now on? Rhonda -
I had to do a bowel prep before surgery, which is tomorrow, and had to use a the whole small container of Miralax with 32 oz bottle of gatorade or drink of my choice. That is 7 doses at once. I did not have any cramps and it move things along very nice.....currently I am clean as a whistle....(I know TMI)....heading to the hospital at 5:30 am. I will definately keep some in the house afterwards just in case.

I still can't freaking post on the other site either. I sent an email YESTERDAY!! I am trying not to give up.... Spent almost three hours at the emergency vet tonight. Tuffi, our little malti-poo, is in a bad way. TMI...but she had loose stools the past couple of days and now is bleeding badly from that location. I found about a five inch round puddle of blood in her crate when I got home from work. She is very listless. She is being kept overnight for fluids and observation. Her red blood cells are way elevated. I know everyone kept giving her nibbles of their food this weekend and they are saying that it is a good possibility that is what is behind this..that or her pancreas. Say a little prayer, please. She really is a crucial part of our family. I am exhaused. I will check in tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for the best... Love you guys.

But I'm back!!! Hey guys... I've been out of the loop for a while. I guess I've just been busy getting to know me . I've been spending a lot of time at the Y and around the city with my family. I just want to be everywhere all the time. And thankfully that "emotional roller coaster" is coming to a stop. But I will tell you that getting stuck is no joke, lol... when they say chew, chew, chew...DO IT! I've had my fair share so far, lol. Oh, another thing... My confidence is peaking. I don't want to sound conceited but I LOVE looking at myself. I love fixing myself up everyday and taking pictures. You know, If you look good, you feel good. So I take that extra time for myself everyday and fix myself up, even if its just a coat of mascara and lip gloss. Its a huge confidence booster . For those of you who want to know if you'll be able to ever drink again: Yes, yes you can . For those 20 somethings who still have yet to experience life and the club/bar scene doooooo iiiittttt!!!! (Just know you're taking in a large amount of empty calories so plan your day accordingly) I had a blast this past weekend at my cousins bday party. Although I can't hang like everyone else anymore, its ok. Before it would take a good 9/10 shots of tequila to get me... now, sadly, its 3..lol. But its cool, its way cheaper now, lol. So quick update: NOTHING in my closet fits ( not even my bras & panties...tmi i know) but its freaking amazing. Last week I went to see Pauly D (yumm!) and I had to buy a whole new outfit. The only thing that really bothers me is the extra cash I have to put up to buy and buy and buy. I went from a size 24/26 to 18/20 so I need the clothes. Ay dios mio, tengo muchas problemas... (in my sarcastic voice) As far as eating goes... I really don't have much restriction anymore. I go for my second fill tomorrow so I'm excited about that. P.s: Im living life... who would have thought? "If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good" -The incredible Dr. Seuss

I have been banded for just over a year, but didn't feel real restriction until about 9 months (and 6 fills) into it. Then due to needing an upper GI with barium for my Crohn's disease, I needed an unfill (boo!) and have just now gotten back to my previous fill level. Hope this isn't TMI, but I usually do not have a period because of my birth control of choice. However, I have recently changed and this week got my period for the first month in about 2 years, and holy moly did my band seem to get tight. QUESTION: Is this coincidental or all in my head?? Anyone else experience a tightening of the band during TOM?

food poisoning= weight loss. boo. sorry for the TMI
jingleboob posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Normally I would be thrilled to have dropped 12 lbs in less than a week. But I've been sick as a dog since Friday morning. Nobody else at Thanksgiving got sick so we can't figure out whagt caused it. Friday was the worst with throwing up, leg and arm cramps, stomach cramps that made me scream in pain, diarrhea. By saturday it was just the lower intestinal issues... and still they continue. Day 4 today. Pepto did nothing, Immodium did nothing. I'm expelling quarts of liquid in the wrong way and I'm having a hard time keeping up with my fluids. feeling light headed today, not thrilled to be at work with these issues but can't call in at the moment. any suggestions? I'm keeping everything down now. Looking for foods that will help bind me up. At this point even loose stool would be better than pure liquid. Sorry for the description. I will call my pcp tomorrow if it's not any better, but don't know what they'll be able to do that I'm not already trying. -
Can it really be this easy??
PlannerGirl replied to jsouza's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am having a very similar experience. I had surgery on the 18th and I am completely back to my old self except the eating. I have done a lot of errands and chores, I have cooked for my family and guests, been for a bike ride, and (TMI warning) made my husband happy sooner than he thought I'd be able to. I was really expecting this to be much harder, and I couldn't be more pleased it isn't. I know not everyone's experience has been this easy, but I encourage anyone who is having fears and considering canceling to overcome them......it is so worth it. -
I am about 7.5 weeks post op and haven't had issues with constipation until earlier this week. I don't understand why I was doing okay, and now the constipation!! UGH! I can't remember how many days since I had had a bowel movement, but when I finally did, I had several in one day and they were HUGE, so big they hurt. Sorry if this is TMI. Later that night, I had severe pain, but it was higher up in my abdomen, kinda right underneath my breasts, and it went all the way across the front. It felt like the pain was under my ribs. It also hurt in my back too. I don't know if it was related, or gas pain, or what. But it HURT bad. It was hard to breathe because it would hurt everytime I did. I almost went to the ER, but then it passed. Anyway, I don't know if that was all related to the constipatin or not. Now, I have not had a BM since those big ones the other day and I am starting to freak out. That was on Wednesday, so its only been 2 days, but I still feel like I need to go and I can't! I only lost 2 pounds last week (I weigh on mondays), but I think because I was so full of crap! LOL! From monday-wednesday I lost 3 pounds. So, what can I take? Can I take benefiber? I thought the dr said no fiber, so I am not sure what I can take. I guess I could call the office, but I thought people here would be more helpful!

trying not to get discouraged 5 weeks out
MuffinsMom replied to kerri21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kerri, have you pooped yet? If not try a glycerin bulb. At about 2 weeks out I got so badly backed up I went to the ER. They examined me, took X-rays, and sent me home without treatment, apparently it wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was as bad as I have ever experienced! I had been taking X-Lax and Miralax but nothing helped that one big blockage that wouldn't budge! (Sorry, TMI I know.) On the way home I stopped at CVS and picked up a couple things - magnesium citrate (which is what they ask you to take if you're going to get a colonoscopy, cleans you out rather violently!) and glycerin bulbs. I tried a glycerin bulb first, and that worked. (Didn't really want to use the magnesium citrate if I didn't have to....) Ever since, I take Miralax every day in my morning coffee, to prevent that from ever happening again, and that works just fine, especially with the Calcium and PPIs we take, which I guess can be a little constipating. Then really start pushing the Water. Your body needs water to release the fat. Many times on this board and on OH, people who stall end up breaking the stall by upping Protein and water. -
Ovary needs to come out before my Sleeve surgery!
determined1 replied to AMLP's topic in The Gals' Room
Hi Sassy! I have wanted the sleeve in Jan 2010, GYN told me I needed a total hysterectomy in April 2010 - I WAS DEVASTATED! I had to put my sleeve on hold but knew my GYN was right so June 2010 I had the hysterectomy, I did ask that they be done together but the answer was no, and now glad I didnt. GYN tried to do it laproscopic but after two hrs, she opened me up and took everything. I had severe stage 7 endometreosis and all my girl parts had balled together(TMI). Surgery was pretty hard on me.. BUT went ahead and pushed for my sleeve, had it done Sept 9, 2010, not near as bad as the hyster. SOOO glad I did it, I feel so much better. I am sorry you are going thru this, I wish you the best of luck, if you have any other questions PM me. -
Hello! I just had surgery on Wednesday Nov. 17th and let me tell you... I was not quite ready for the amount of care that I need! I would suggest that you find a place to stay with family that can be available when you need help sitting up and getting out of bed to use the restroom or keeping you on schedule with meds and fluids. I haven't been able to bend over so if my undies fall down, I need my hubby to help me out. When I first got home, I couldn't even sit down without assistance because it hurt so bad! Now, I can sit up on my own, sit on the toilet by myself and even wipe pretty well (still can't bend enough in the middle to wipe well if I have had a BM). I know.. TMI.. but I kinda of wish I would have known that it would be this hard! I am lucky that my husband has been here. I called my sister Saturday night and she came to "babysit" me and I made my husband go out with friends. I have a hard time accepting help from others and even after 3 kids- this is the first time my husband has had to wipe up anything because of me! Walking is painful and as much as I hate it, I try to do more and more each day so that hopefully I can get back to being me quicker! I hope I am not scaring you.. I am so happy about the surgery. Moving at first is most painful. I have not had anything but fluids for a week now and I am actually in good spirits and feel good. No hunger although my stomache rumbles all the time (pretty sure it is gas!). I really believe that this is the very best option for me and will allow me to have a much better life! I just have to give up a little dignity for a bit! I am going to give you my list of things I never thought I would have to ask my family for help with... but do. To wipe me after I peed. To wipe me after I had a BM. To clean up the dribbles off the toilet when the only way I could wipe was to stand up. To help me dry off each and every roll and between my legs when I got out of the shower. To put down a towel when I didn't sit far enough back on the toilet and ended up peeing on the floor. To change my undies because of the left over pee that I didn't get off. To empty my drain and strip the tubing so no blood clots would be there. To ask my hubby to put a pad in my underwear because my cycle is off. To have to pee at 3a and need to wake up my hubby to help me sit up and then stand. To change the gauze on my drain hole. To help me ensure my meds are on time and that I have plenty of protein options and fulids near me at all time. Again, I am very lucky and my husband is very supportive. It sounds like your family is behind you on this so you will want to figure out now where you can be for that first week that you are out of the hospital so that you can rest and stretch and walk and drink without having to over do it. Sorry if this is to much info.. just want to make sure that you aren't surprised later on! Best wishes!

November 2010 Bandsters - post op
DebWS replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As usual, you folks have come through for me. I read a couple of responses about ibuprofen and naproxen sodium. This morning, with my legs sooooo stiff from doing a school holiday fair (I am a caterer, among other things) I decided to just do it. I took ONE naproxen sodium (aka, Aleve)...usually, I take two. I followed it with a Tums. It made a huge difference -- I am less stiff and creaky, more able to move without pain -- that I feel it was worth it. I'm going to try very hard not to get into a habit of doing this, and stick with the Tylenol wherever possible. But if I start behaving like I'm 100, I think I'll go for the little blue pill! Also, I think that, for the first time, I may have overeaten just a little at lunch. I had some mushroom soup (pureed a bit more than when I first made it, with an immersion blender), four little crackers with some cheese, and 1/4 c. homemade applesauce. It was delicious, but the last three mouthfuls of applesauce felt like 'stuffing' -- and I have been burping ever since. So (and yes, this is a bit TMI) is burping one of the indicators that you've overdone it?? Best, Deb WS -
Wow did THAT suck! LOL I've got 6ccs in a 10cc band and am feeling pretty good restriction and pretty satisfied for a couple of hours. I haven't had any issues with getting stuck before and even though I try to be careful with my bites and chewing...sometimes one gets down without really really getting it chewed as well as I know it should. I've been able to eat veggies, chicken breast etc with no issues, so I must admit I had gotten a little cocky that it wouldn't ever happen to me. Yesterday, I was eating a piece of turkey lunch meat and it wasn't that big of a piece. While chewing, this actually WAS one that I chewed up well. Well, when I swallowed..oh boy. I could feel that sudden stuck feeling in my chest that wouldn't clear. I actually started to panic! I wasn't like I was choking..but BOY was it uncomfortable. I started trying to swallow to get it down and burping (I guess this is PB'ing and sliming???) Walking....squaking around like a chicken with my arms, Finally.......TMI...here it comes!! My body was having NONE OF THAT.... and I ended up spitting up. Cockiness...GONE. Lesson learned. I don't EVER want that to happen again if I can help it. What a HORRIBLE feeling! BLECH!

Morning Gang! I am packed and ready to roll. I guess I will get the"pat down" today. DH always does because of his knees. My traveling son called this morning and asked if I was ready for a cavity search. I told him it shouldn't be any worse than a colonoscopy. He said EEEWWWW.....TMI. The joke was on him. The weather here is great......same as Vegas only humidity. I lost another lb, but found it. I haven't been able to go to the gym this week.....I have walked. I will be getting serious when I get back. Okay peeps........I'll post on Friday night! I have my phone so you can always text me. Love Y'all!!!!!!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
phyllser replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did, but pretty pricey and no guarantee it would work for me. Then... we always have to think about... where is it going to be stored, and one review said it weighed 60 lb!! And I'd have to use it outside, so there would be a lot of winter days that I couldn't use it, and I'd feel conspicuous hanging upside down out on my patio!! But, I appreciate you thinking of solutions!! I do have a pain clinic appt now... Dec. 1st, and they will probably do an epidural block/injection, that day. Unless they can prove that you knew about it and didn't disclose it, I think they're up a creek without a paddle! I agree... they're blowing smoke! We had people try to put the screws to us twice. First time they just made us hire someone to service the furnace because they didn't think it was working right. There was NOTHING wrong with it. That was our fault for letting them move in w/a rental agreement before closing. Then they started nit-picking! The second threat was when we sold the next house. That time we DID disclose that one of two ovens was not working and they threatened to sue us over that and a dishwasher they insisted was faulty when it was only a few months old! We ignored the threats of lawsuits and nothing ever materialized. Scallops sound wonderful. Earl hasn't bought any in a long time. I may have to bug him about getting some! I said he fixed salmon last night, but I forgot it was grilled steelhead. Looks just like salmon. I think it was even better than salmon. He fixed spinach and balsmetti rice with it. I know I spelled that wrong! Can't remember how to spell it. Beading teacher sick today so no beading class. But we did bead on Wanda's porch for a few hours yesterday. I thought we were going to do that again today, but no one is over there so I'm vegging w/my computer and watching TV! TMI coming: That stuff I told you about that the gyn dr prescribed for me is really making my "lady parts" sore so I am going back to see her on Thursday. I haven't used it since Sunday and it still hurts to sit! That's just not right. It has some testosterone in it and I think that's the problem. And just as I suspected, tender nipples from dropping the Evista. Ointment for my back from the neuro guy doesn't really seem to help. But... I'm coping with all these things!! LOL! Zoey and I going up to the beauty shop in a little while so Pat can cut my hair.
