    Stall?

that's under your control. You can always increase your calories and stop the weight loss. However, keep in mind that most of us experience a 10-20 lb rebound gain after hitting our lowest weight. Also, rebound or not, things do sort of shift around during year 2 or 3 so that you don't look as gaunt. I looked really thin after hitting bottom at month 20 - but things did shift around - and then I put on about 20 lbs quickly sometime during year 3. So suffice it to say, I wouldn't really worry about losing too much weight. A lot of long-timers who looked too gaunt during year 2 didn't look that way once they hit year 3 or 4 (honesty, there are days I wish I was still that thin!)

    Weight stall 7 days PO

Hi ! I am 8days post op VSG and i started to stall too. I do weight myself daily but more out of curiosity about the “early stall” i hear a lot. And looks like i started mine. However, you shiuld feel way less bloated and less pain to take that as a daily victory :)

    Weight stall 7 days PO

Stay off the scale. I haven't weighed myself since coming home from the hospital. Why? Because I don't want the scale dictating my moods. I know there will be stalls and water retention and worries if I'm doing something wrong or if the surgery is working. I will start weighing myself after my 5 week appointment once a week. I start regular food phase then and won't go back to doctor till my 3 month mark. I'm hoping by then I will get to experience seeing some mind blowing weight drops. If not, that's OK. Patience is a virtue. 👼

    Little to no weightloss

OK - breathe. Weight loss isn't linear. Everyone - *EVERYONE* hits stalls regularly. They are part of the journey. It seems to me from what you've said OP that you have lost 18lbs in 11 weeks since your surgery. Which is already amazing. Why are you calling that rubbish? 6 weeks post MY op I had lost 15lbs. But that turned out to be a tiny proportion of what I went on to lose in the next 18 months. I also had almost 10 stone to lose. If you can focus on your long term goal it will be no time until you're there, or almost there. I wish you all the luck in the world. If you stick to the rules you've been given then you have every chance to achieve your goal weight. 😍
  5. I’m male started at 325lbs have lost 135lbs to date and the only loose skin that I have is my arms near the armpit and upper thighs. My surgeon put my mind at ease and explained that generally men do not experience the same amount of sagging skin because of where we carry it. Everyone is different in where the weight is but even if I had lots it would still be worth it to have my life back again.

    Stall?

I’m in exactly the same situation, hit my first real stall this week at exactly the 6 month mark. Really happy with the results so far, lost 135lbs and would actually be thrilled if I could just stay stable at this weight but I feel my body still wants me to lose more. Still struggling to get over 1500cals daily with most days barely hitting 1200cals. My personal fear is that I lose too much weight and look anorexic.

    Little to no weightloss

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I have 10 stone to lose. My surgery weight was 21 stone 9lb and 11 weeks later I weight 20 stone 5lb. So really rubbish weigthloss in 11 weeks, with weeks of no losses. I haven’t lost any weight in the last 4 weeks. I’m just seriously fed up. I understand stalls happen and weightloss is different for everyone. I took the no weightloss for the first 3 weeks and took it on the chin. I then kept reading to trust the process which I have for the previous 4 weeks and still no weightloss. I’m not living my life at all and haven’t been for years as the weight really affects my confidence. I’m not sure I can carry on for the next years to come if this weight doesn’t come off. Seems like it won’t and like my body has just adjusted to the new calories and storing it all. My only hope is fasting at this point. My last hope in all seriousness. I'm really sorry you’re going through a stall at the moment. I will keep my fingers crossed it’s a short term stall for you and you’ll be back losing before you know it. It’s very deflating.

    Little to no weightloss

Hi Anna, so sorry you're feeling defeated. I've been at a bit of a stall myself, which from advice on here and through my surgery team, say is normal. I did start adding in some good carbs as my body was telling me I should (not a "head hunger", but true hunger for them I'm still losing, but slowly. The good thing is that since adding back some carbs I feel better than I have since that %$#@! Pre-op liquid diet! The "brain fog" is gone too! Good luck to you! Also, I'm not sure how much weight you have to lose, but I've found and read that the "smaller" you are, the less likely you'll lose quickly...
  9. Good Morning Bariatric Pals! So I've been going through my closet cleaning out clothes that I've sized out of or just never wore. I hate dropping them in those donation boxes because I feel they never find their way to people who can actually use them. My husband and I have tons of clothes we'd like to share. Some of the items still have tags on them!!! Yes, I made the fatal mistake of buying clothes as I was dropping weight and now have an over abundance of stuff. Hubs and I clearly have a shopping problem - but that's for a WHOLE OTHER FORUM! LOL 😂 I'll post pictures and sizes of stuff as I make my way through the bins. We have everything from dresses, work apparel, tanks, tees, leggings, golf shirts, dress shirts, jackets, swim suits, brand new bras with tags on them, etc. Mens XL for the most part - Shoes Size 11 Womens 8-14 (M-XL). Shoes size vary from 6 - 7.5 If you're in need, let me know and I'll be more than happy to send you what I have. Why buy clothes if you don't have to? Smoke free/pet free home. Much Love 💘 Amanda

    Little to no weightloss

That should say I am on 1 stone and not 2 stone. I do think it could be hormonal for me. I’ve called my GP today and going to request full screening of bloods to see if there is anything. 11 weeks prior to surgery, I wasn’t dieting so I wasn’t gaining or losing. I was eating very unhealthy though with wine and takeaways. Up until the pre op diet and I followed the plan they gave me which was meal replacement shakes for 2 weeks and lost 2lb only. Thing is if I keep waiting for results, I’ll be here in weeks to come and still have no weight loss. I’ve given it 4 weeks and tried increasing calories and nothing it working. Suppose I’m feeling utterly deflated and fed up.
  11. Hi, I had a sleeve on 4/25. Still on protein shake and clear liquid diet. I haven’t lost any weight in the last 3 days. Doing everything right, walking 30 min, having my protein shakes. Still working on getting my liquids to at least 64 oz. Having around 45-50 oz a day. Scale is not moving! Any suggestions?

    Weight Regain at 3 Weeks

You're at the 3-week mark which is a very common point to either stall or even have a modest regain. You didn't mention what liquids you were drinking prior to now but if you weren't having much salt (from things like broth, for instance) and have now added things like cheese that can be kind of salty, it could also be water weight which will resolve itself.

    Weight Regain at 3 Weeks

you did not gain 2 lbs of true weight unless you've eaten 7000 more calories than your body needs. It's water - or your intestines are filling up again. Very normal.

    Little to no weightloss

one stone is 14 lbs. I don't know what your starting weight was, but 14 lbs actually isn't bad. you're probably in a stall now. They happen to most of us every so often along our journeys. They typically last 1-3 weeks, but it's not unheard of for them to last longer than that. I absolutely would NOT go on a water-only diet. You'll just end up with nutritional deficiences and a screwed-up metabolism. Stay on your program. Contact your clinic if you're worried and let them know what's going on - but honestly, I don't think anything is wrong.
  15. I am so fed up. I am 10 weeks post op. I didn’t lose any weight in the first 3 weeks. Very odd as it was liquid only. Between weeks 4-7 I lost just over a stone. Since week 7, and I am now nearly 11 weeks post op, I haven’t even lost 1lb. I am not drinking calories, I am sticking to the NHS guidelines and my dietician. No slider foods. High protein, low fat and hitting my fluid goals each day. Literally feel like my last draw is gone. I keep reading to trust to the process and I’ve carried on but weeks of no weightloss has no meant that I have started a water only diet, fasting as it seems my body will not lose weight if I put any food in my body. I have never felt so depressed or let down. I could understand if I was eating he wrong things, or eating too much, too little. Wondering if it’s hormonal and that’s the reason I’ve struggled for years with weightloss and gaining Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Hello Everyone, This is my 3rd week post-op and I've finally switched to soft foods!! However, I have gained 2 pounds. I'm still only having around 2 oz of food per meal. The only new items I've added are shredded chicken and low fat string cheese. Someone please tell me this is normal. I'm eating enough to gain 2 pounds but not enough to have a bm, what the heck!
  17. I have told not one single person that I had the surgery— I took off thursday to fly to Mexico, had surgery Friday, stayed in hospital two nights and flew home sunday. I drove myself home from hospital that night after 4 hour flight home- and took one day off work. I worked from home for a week- that’s it, but I have a job that allows for that anyway. I didnt need any extra care past those two hospital days- but I’ll admit i had no real pain and have a high tolerance for it if i do- but i took no pain meds at all. I’d had hysterectomy in November (my VSG was march 1) and knew the incisions wouldn’t be terrible. I probably just looked tired to my kids- but they pay no attention to me anyway, so there is that. (Teens). To date, they have not said a word about my weight changing either. LOL!

    Are plastics worth it?

I have not had WLS plastics, but had previous breast reduction surgery. Mine was in 2011, after I’d finished breast feeding my daughter. I am small framed, 5’2’’ and had 34 G (that’s DDDDD) reduced to D cups. It was significantly life changing, and I am so glad i did it. Had it done in “medical suite” and was sent home same day. Worse part for me was the nausea from anesthesia— but minimal to no pain. Took half a pain pill because my sister forced me to. For reference- I took NO pain meds after leaving hospital with VSG, and only gabapentin to sleep first night after full hysterectomy, then only ibuprofen. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and hate the way pain meds make me sick. I will look into plastics after I get to goal weight and maintain a while- I hear tummy tucks are rough. Travel to MExico or Miami may be the way I decide to go, as I went to Mexico for VSG.

    March 23 buddies yet?

I'm really struggling with this. I haven't lost weight in weeks and I think it is because I always feel hungry. But its like a stomach growl and I think its growling out of hunger. Very frustrated with it.

    Are plastics worth it?

    1. Insurance paid for my abdominoplasty. Since my weight loss caused back issues, rashes under the pannus, among other things, the surgery was classified as "reconstructive" rather than "cosmetic." Insurance paid for it all; 2. I can't speak to your situation, but for me there is nothing I could have done to deal with the extra skin. Lipo removes fat, but we generally also have extra skin. A lot of extra skin; 3. This was the most painful experience of my life. I was warned that it would be extraordinarily painful but it was completely under sold; 4. I couldn't imagine going through what I went through outside of a hospital, even without the unexpected events that required a second emergency life saving surgery.

Surgery Shaming Should Be A Thing…

I guess we're all different (and it depends a lot on the "culture" of the people we encounter), but definitely the worst amount of shade I received was from a woman who lives a very "adventurous" lifestyle who I imagine has never struggled with her weight whatsoever, who is one of those thin people who looks at anyone with a few extra pounds as a moral failure. She treated me like I'd told her I'd gotten a completely-cosmetic procedure, and with all the judgement that implies. I feel like people who have been thin most of their lives but have experienced "success" at losing 10-15 pounds at some point don't understand how different it is to need to lose 100, 200 pounds and how that is a much bigger, difficult task.

    May 2023 surgeries

I started my pre op diet last Thursday. My schedule date is 5/11 for the sleeve. I have lost a total of 34 pounds this year. I changed some of my habits when I knew I was going to work towards this surgery. I’m 5’4. I weight 280. Now I’m 256. I must say it’s not as bad as I thought. Keep going guys. We can do this.

    Are plastics worth it?

I've had multiple surgeries. Some in the states, one in Mexico. My in the states Tummy tuck was first. I was not that pleased. I lost my curve and looked like spongebob square pants. This was done in a surgical center. I was kicked out and sent home pretty quickly after surgery. Not the best experience. This was in 2015 My second surgery was covered by insurance. A breast reduction that was also performed in the states. I am surpised how small he made my breasts, but I've always hated them and wanted small breasts so I was happy. I did end up with dog ears and some keloid spots. I didn't have them addressed, but I'm told it's pretty simple to address both issues, so I may in the near future. This was done in a hospital. It was a more pleasant experience. I did go home the same day. This was in 2016 During COVID I gained 50 lbs and had bariatric surgery. Lost 60 lbs The third plastic surgery was a brazilliam butt lift. I had this surgery in January. I explained that I wanted lipo to try to give me my curve back and a natural looking butt. This was done in Mexico. I am absolutely amazed at this procedure. He lipo'd my back and flanks and extended tummy tuck? Basically gave me back my hourglass figure. He inserted the fat at my hips and butt. I stayed in the hospital for a week. I had round the clock nurses care. I didn't need it. I would have preferred being at home but I don't like staying in hotels/hospitals. I want to sleep in my bed. I found that they do specialize in weightloss patients and have a long waiting list. But cancellations occur and you can move up your date rather easily if you are flexible.

    Are plastics worth it?

SHORT ANSWER: (in my opinion) omg yes, totally worth it. its a serious game changer. 1. Does that price sound outrageous? Again it’s a good size job and I’m sure it’s more bc of that?? I've read similar pricing like that on here at times so not totally outrageous...but I am from Canada and it seems prices up here are comparatively lower. I also had my TT supplement with provincial insurance so that helped reduce the cost. 2. Is there anything else I can do to reduce this tummy I know the big procedure is the only way to really do it but do these fat loss clinics (must be Lipo? ) clinics work? If the rest of you is already "small", then probably not. its not possible to "spot-lose" weight without surgery. Lipo adresses fat, it will do nothing for excess skin. 3. How painful was this? Um...really painful. but im a bit of a low-tolerance pain-baby, so. 4. Would you do this in office? I had a choice to get it done in my surgeon's office or in the hospital. But since insurance was covering part of it, the premium to have in hospital was also covered, so it was a no-brainer: hospital. BUT, if i did have to pay, i would probably have done in hospital regardless just for peace of mind. i remember being low-key scared of not waking up after surgery and the idea that there were all these doctors and equipment to revive me made me feel a little better (dramatic, yes, but still!!). plus i could stay overnight with 24hr care.
  25. When weight loss stopped I didn't change anything to "enter maintenance". It just happened and I continue to do what I do. *shrug*
